Tandem in Leeds

Delicioso café con leche de calabaza especiado - justo lo que se necesitaba en un frío, día de otoño! El servidor era muy acogedor y rápido con mi pedido. No me di cuenta de que vendían gel de ducha orgánico y otros productos, y terminaron comprando un par de cosas. Aún no me he aventurado más en la tienda, pero definitivamente lo haré otro día! Este lugar parece ser un verdadero hallazgo.

This used to be a cafe, it isn't really anymore, it's a hippy shop, which sells a surprisingly small amount of stuff. It also sells takeaway coffee, and some cakes. I used to call in here regularly, when I was in Meanwood, but that was when it was a cafe. Then I called here in June, and things had changed, and I had a very poor experience. However, after reading a number of glowing reviews here, I thought I'd give it another try. Nothing had changed, the service was sullen and unfriendly, the coffee was awful (see the photo in my previous review), and the advertised "secret sun trap" is a 2m x 2m bin-yard, at the rear of the shop, which has steps above it, blocking the sky. I should have checked the new reviews more carefully! I submitted my earlier review on the 9th June, before that Tandem had not had a review posted to TA for 3 years. Then suddenly, a string of unctuous posts were made, praising the business in the most glowing terms. On 12th June, Tandem attracted no less than six 5 Star reviews, all posted by new or very inexperienced members, most with similar names, generally not living locally, and none containing photographs. Another new member submitted a very similar review 4 days later. Then nothing since. I wish every independent business well, but there's a stink about this worse than patchouli.

Tandem is a mini heaven, perfect place to visit to escape the hustle. I had a lovely soya milk latte and vegan cherry Bakewell .. delicious. Got my refills, which smell great and very reasonable. It’s difficult to leave without buying a lovely plant so be warned!

Tandem has become a regular place to visit when we are in Leeds. Coffee and cakes are amazing and we always manage to buy something lovely for our home. It’s great to be able to support an independent shop and these guys have really earned their great reputation. Thank you Tandem !

Best coffee in Meanwood, staff very firendily and great for gifts for all occasions. I will definatly be returning when im around.

Love this little shop for quirky finds and gifts. The staff are super helpful at ideas for a present when I'm a bit stuck and I love that I can peruse the shelves with a yummy coffee in hand. The locally made candles are divine and make my whole house smell gorgeous, I can't resist one every time I visit!

Delightful little store full of quirky finds and lovely smells! With a relaxed vibe, you can even have a Proper Coffee while you browse. Next time I’ll be staying longer to enjoy the sunny secret back yard & one of their delicious traybakes

Tandem has a great atmosphere and really friendly staff. The coffee is always great and when I am tempted with a blondie there are fantastic.

Couldn’t recommend this place enough! Delicious coffee, properly homemade cakes and a beautifully curated selection of homewares and gifts. We’ll be back!

...because, having got rid of all the other indoor seating, they'll try and pass off a few square feet of grotty back yard as a "Sunny secret garden", sell you brown water as coffee, and won't even give you the time of day when you walk through the door. Despite the cloying stench of patchouli, and the wasted back room full of overpriced hippy tat, the prices are definitely NOT from the Sixties!

Had a really nice time here the other day, took the missus for a morning brew and some breakfast. Cosy and comfortable, staff were excellent. The toasted sourdough was a bit hard and struggled to bite through it but all in all fantastic !

After reading good reviews left on tripadvisor we went to Tandem today for a coffee. We were met with 2 ladies who were not elcoming nor friendly and indeed did not greet us with a smile. We were told that there was no room up the stairs and that we would need to sit by the window on a large table with other guests. The ladies then made extremely loud noises by banging the coffee grains out, grabbing plates and cutlery and washing up right by the table. My friend and I could barely hear what we were saying to each other. We paid the bill, with no niceties from the 2 ladies, and left. We shall not return and nor would we recommend this small, noisy, unfriendly establishment to our other friends.

First visit to Tandem for me, and first time my wife had been in for more than drinks. Full bunch with salmon, avocado and poached egg on a crumpet was top stuff - pesto drizzle very tasty, chorizo beans amazing and I don't usually eat beans! Halloumi-based veggie alternative apparently similarly well done. Service is friendly and this small place is cosy, with lots of craft bits to look at and gifts (e.g. bamboo socks) / woven bags for sale - very different from the mainstream chain outlets and really deserves its place on a stretch with plenty of independent café/bar options. More places like this needed - wholesome feel but not exclusively vegan.

I love it here. Home cooked food. Lovely proprietors and a really beautiful interior full of art work, candles and other lovely things you are going to want to take home.

I had a free Monday afternoon and decided to leave the house and go round the corner to Tandem, normally just get drinks to go because I live so close but I took a book and notepad to do some work while having some coffee and cake. While sat there I remembered I had never reviewed them, so here goes. It’s a lovely space to spend time in and even though it’s small it feels open and airy, should it be too hot to sit inside they also have a seating area out back. Coffee is great, food is good and the staff are incredibly friendly.

So pleased I had to pass a bit of time while my boyfriend got his haircut!! What a lovely little place Tandem is. Really quirky with a great relaxed atmosphere. It has outdoor seating to the front and the back and sociable seating in the back where there are shelves of unusual things for sale. Nice way to enjoy a cuppa.

Super chilled atmosphere as we had lunch, friendly and quick service. Food was super. All enhanced by some perfectly placed music (including Bob Dylan when we visited so it could get no better for me!). Great little place to eat in or take out...with art...

A lovely little coffee shop right in the centre of Meanwood. Great coffee and cake (try the chocolate orange brownie)! The cafe has lots of arts and crafts for sale and has a really relaxed and calming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it!
