Nice Italian food but a little expensive. The place does not get very busy and I don't think booking is necessary.

in my view the best (takeaway or eat-in) pizzas in west London- beautiful crisp base, fresh delicious (and sometimes innovative) toppings; the 'treehugger' is my favourite of the regular options but the specials are always worth trying. And then there's the rest of the menu- genuine Italian fare, beautifully cooked and served; we've eaten here as a family, with friends or just two of us and always more than happy with the food and the service. we are so lucky to have this as a local restaurant

We have been visiting Terracotta on a regular basis since they opened and they do not disappoint (we live locally). Love the people running it and the menu is excellent (let alone very reasonably priced) - actually, everything is excellent: not pretentious, straight honest Italian cooking based on very good produce (you'll notice how the produce makes an enormous difference between a decent Italian and a really good one).

We had been here before and decided to come back for a pizza with friends. We asked for a pizza to share while waiting for the mains, but it was taking too long so we asked the waiter. She said the pizzaiolo had made a mistake a was baking it at the same time of the mains. Immediately after, the manager came and give us the pizza AND the mains with an purpose ignoring the fact that we were already having the mains. We politely explained that that was supposed to be a starter, and given her attitude we asked her to take it back. While paying, the owner was waiting for us at the door. He looked incredibly agitated, so I tried to apologise, but he got even more agitated, and started ignoring me, then started telling us off, and the manager joined him. In the end, a dinner out ruined, we'll never return again, let alone bringing friends there.

My sons treated me on Mothers Day with a meal at Terracotta. We ate from both the normal, and Mothers Day Special menu, and shared the pizza and pasta which was all great - very generous helpings - and so authentic and fresh. All exceedingly 'moorish'. My sons said they'd only ever eaten like that in Italy and that the prices were very reasonable too.Everything was beautifully presented, and smiling, friendly staff made Mothers Day a special and memorable day for my family and me.

We have eaten twice here and both times found the staff welcoming and the ambience warm and cosy. Both times it was full and we were happy to go away for drink and be texted when a table was free. The pizzas we had this week were exceptionally good, unusual and a nice change. The house wine is also very good. The price is most reasonable for food and wine. There is a large menu of starters, mains and sweets and plenty of optional side dishes. Our experience would suggest you book ahead! They do takeaways too.Another establishment on Ealing Green has been called the best pizza place in London - this is better.

This once scrumptious Italian restaurant has sadly gone down hill as they put their prices up and the quality went down. It has always been quite pricey for an Italian but we kept on going back. The food was of high quality and taste. On our last visit the menu had changed and the prices went sky-high. The pizza that we ordered seemed shop bought as the quality was so poor. It was upsetting to see our favourite Italian go so down hill, even their spectacular desserts had lost their sweetness! It is still a very good Italian restaurant but compared to its old self it isn't the same place we fell in love with. :(

This sounds over the top but it's true. We went on a Thursday evening having eaten here once before some time ago and had a very good pasta and fish meal but had never been back to try the pizza before now. I can honestly say it was brilliant as was the salad, wine and service. Don't go if you like thick, chewy pizzas because you will be disappointed. However if you like thin and crispy pizzas with well flavoured toppings you will love it. We will definitely be back.

We were recommended this restaurant for the food, but I guess it's more of a diner than a restaurant - not for a classy evening meal, more of an Italian upgrade of a fast food joint.Portion size is large, especially dessert (4 scoops of the sorbet!) and service is great (commendation to Judith, our waitress). Food is good, but not awesome.

This may be a neighbourhood restaurant but there is nothing second rate about the place. The obvious care and passion that goes into the selection and quality of the ingredients results in fresh, interesting and very tasty food..and the wine is delicious too. The opening times can be a little erratic but that's a small price to pay for a niche, excellent, chain free, independent kitchen and I do miss the delicatessen offerings. Still it does leave the talented chef and his charming wife time to concentrate on what they're clearly very good at, producing quality food at very affordable prices. Can definitely recommend.

Beautiful, little Italian that looks like a takeaway from the front. Has an extended section at the back. Was surprised by how busy it was, but understood after the food arrived. Pappardelle with Ragu sauce delicious, if a little salty and a tree hugger pizza - which we were told all the ladies love! Yep - we loved it. House wine was good too. Totally stuffed. Tucked away in Northfields Avenue, Terracotta offers genuine home made Italian cooking from a deli / restaurant. Everything is cooked to order and although we have been many times and often stick to our favourites, we have never been disappointed. Every dish is cooked and presented just perfectly by the cheery and attentive owners.Very reasonably priced with a take away option also available. My boyfriend lives around the corner so this has become out regular pizza fix. For the quality and quantity the price is very good. Your pizza is made within minutes hot and fresh with the most amazingly sourced ingredients. The guy that owns it is always there over seeing the production. The head waitress is FANTASTIC, she knows what she's doing and she know that the food is just as good as she's tantalisingly describing it to you. The pastas are on a whole new level. This restaurant looks like a takeaway place from the outside and initially when you walk in you think it really is just that. Walk to the back and there is a small but cosy restaurant that seats about 17 covers. We arrived on a Saturday night and we're surprised they asked us if we had a reservation. They had a free table though and we were greeted by a great and knowledgeable waitress. We ordered pizzas and they were not only huge but really really very tasty. We would eat there again and loved the food. The place is frequented a lot by locals as regulars and so that really speaks volumes. Families and couples, groups of friends, or if your on your own...you will be all welcome and love the food which is great to say the least. Give it a try and don't be influenced by the decor. It's the food that you eat that you will enjoy!!!

This was our first visit to this restaurant and went as a special birthday dinner. We had not booked and were lucky to get a table. it was an absolutely beautiful experience , with stunning fresh ,tasty, quality food, a friendly accommodating waitress , and an ambience that is just perfect. I enjoyed the homemade pizza, which was delicious and filling . My husband had an authentic pasta dish after a simple mozzarella and tomato starter .My husband is also an Italian chef and he thoroughly enjoyed his meal . The starters were also stunning, with us sharing breads, olive oils and mozzarella dishes .This could possibly be our favourite Italian in Ealing and is certainly one of the best from a very competitive field !! We love the pizza here...best ever. The base is thin and crisp with delicious, fresh tomato sauce. There are no pools of grease that need to be mopped up with a napkin corner. There is plenty of variety to suit all. At some point we'll get beyond the pizzas and try something else, but not just yet. The service is pleasant, swift and efficient. Terracotta does not seat very many ( perhaps 5 double tables and two tables for four) so best to book, especially at the weekend. On the negative, the pizzas are expensive at around £12. Decor could do with a bit of smartening up, but its ok.

After seeing this place had great reviews we thought we should definitely check out the new local. I love a good Italian.I'm not sure I agree with the rave reviews though, so here we go. The good bits are: decent portions, great service (lovely, couldn't fault them). The bad bits: I'd say the food was average, our starter was pretty good but our mains were nothing special, in actual fact I found the flavours a bit odd, same with my partners dish too. The place is quite an strange set up, with the kitchen/deli counter at the front you are led through to the back, except its not, there's another kitchen behind you. So you are sat in a tiny room in the middle, no view, basic décor with many completely random pictures on the wall for sale. If the food was brilliant I wouldn't care about the atmosphere but I was expecting more. The restaurant is very small there are 5 tables I think. 2 big ones and 3 little ones. Also the food is a little more expensive than normal, pizzas are all about £12. Which makes me think value for money is not good!I hate giving negative feedback to local businesses but I think a food and décor upgrade would be advised.

I visit Terracotta on Northfields Avenue (Ealing) at least twice a week. I try to make a point of sitting down to a meal with them on one night a week, and the other time I'll pop in for a take away pizza or a pasta dish.I'm telling you guys, I am not young and therefore have many years eating experience in London and in Italy, itself, and this chef 'feels' the food. He 'loves' it. He loves his homeland (Florence) and I think you may 'think' he's a bit gruff (I've just read another review) but I think he's CONCENTRATING. Apart from one other guy making pizzas, this exceptional chef does all the cooking ALONE. Truly I don't know how he does it...'love'??I find the prices to be very reasonable and the service is good. Nice, hard working staff - chef's wife in front of house..pretty...lovely smile...and when she carries in your order you know you are in a tiny paradise because the aroma, appearance, taste and presentation of the food knocks me sideways. Never fails.Chef's specials have become legendary. Tomorrow I'll be there for his Osso Buco. Last week I MISSED his Oxtail meaty sauce and I'm telling you, I sobbed!! What he does with fish and mushrooms and anything luscious in season is a merry-go-round of culinary expertise. Oh and nothing 'fiddly'...no itty bitty minute portions...you will know you have eaten!Book if you can, the outside eating area is now covered and heated, and they are closed on Sunday and Monday.OMG I wonder, if I could...'marry' Terracotta??? Never mind the terracotta soldiers, any soldier could march on the food they serve here. Great pasta and pizzas, healthy portions made with exellent oil, butter and dressings, all apparently genuine Italian ingredients, beautiful, light and tasty mozzarella, tender and flavouseome prosciutto, scrummy olives, fresh pasta, and sauces that taste like they do in Italy. Clearly a talented proprietor / chef, with his delightful wife front of house. From the front it's just a deli, but there are half a dozen snug tables at the rear, plus more in the garden when weather permits. When we first went they did do very interesting specials aside from pizza and pasta, and one or two of the top end wines are now missing from their fine and varied Italian list, nevertheless, it's now a firm favourite. Enjoy the grappa too...

First and foremost, it is so hard to find a good Italian restaurant as you often feel disappointed and that you should have just cooked it yourself at home....so after several years of ignoring TerraCotta I eventually decided to try it out and was astounded I'd left such a fantastic source of great Italian food out of my life!TerraCotta opened as a cafe and deli a few years ago, I thought the deli was over priced and never ventured into the cafe as I'd been told it was small and unwelcoming to people with young children......and herein lie's TerraCotta's problem - it is tiny, maybe 16 covers across 6 or so tables. So in the past it wouldn't have high, chair or allow buggies, now it follows an aggressive but probably necessary time policy given the high demand for so few covers. e.g. The other day on a dreary Saturday I asked to book a table for two families of 4 and I was told I couldn't book one that size until 3pm+, which annoyed me as I did wonder if they they had two tables empty between 12-1, when we'd have spent quite a lot of money. The good thing about the restaurant is the food - EXCELLENT - I would take my Italian friends there and not worry about what they thought, I know they'd love it (but as they won't accept a two family booking, I shall never be able to take them I'm afraid...).The antipasti and frittata is lovely, the pasta is great and the pizzas are just right. The menu is medium sized with specials. My children love it, and while they don't cater specifically for children, they are very friendly towards them and the pasta ragu or with tomato sauce.Last week we tried the garden and it was lovely, and will certainly alleviate the lack of seats in the restaurant across the summer and if they have any sense they will find a way to continue using it for as long as possible in the evenings. One final thing is the "art" on the walls. Maybe it is trying to be ironic in a 1970s kitch sort of a way, but it is truly shocking - very bad prints of flowers and pictures of Italy in garish colours...I've often thought someone should say something...and ooops, I just did, sorry TerraCotta - the wall art is completely out of kilter with the food you offer, your lovely brand / logo etc, maybe time to save up and get some new stuff?

Warm jugged water, hassle over the time slot "maybe not enough time for 3 courses, you only have an hour, please eat quickly!!". In fact no 3 rd course offered! Only pasta and pizza on the menu so it is a sort of expensive fast (!) food cafe. But worst of all 3 dishes were over salted to the point of making 2 of us feel ill Microwaved thick soup still giving me nightmares; penne and mince meat had no sauce and most children would have done better; suspect trainee "chef"and nobody tasting the product! Impossible to understand spiel from the waitress who ignored the fact she was not being understood. A few years ago this was a seriously good place to eat so it is a great pity.

Terracotta looks like a deli from the outside and it is not immediately obvious that a cosy and delicious Italian restaurant lies within. We went for lunch today with our two year old (warning: no high chairs). Started with the antipasto misto which was very well done. £15 but there was plenty for all three of us. I had spaghetti (very fresh) with anchovies which was exactly the kind of salty, oily, fishy dish I was craving. My wife had the ragu tagliatelle which was plenty big enough to share with junior. I had a taste and the sauce was good deep and flavoursome. Puddings were great, tiramisu served in a coffee cup, melting steamed chocolate sponge and a scoop of gelato for junior. House white was lovely - £14.50.Only a couple of criticisms, due to small size there was quite a lot of coming and goings by the chefs through the restaurant. It was busy for lunch though which created a nice atmosphere. Service attentive and friendly. Slightly pricey; 3 courses for two with wine was around £70. We will definitely be back though...

This lovely cosy, noisy little restaurant could only be Italian; it has that down-home, serious-about-food-but-not-too-precious atmosphere. Scrubbed wooden tables in what used to be a back parlour - really quaint, really wide selection of dishes, interesting daily specials and a pretty good wine list for a small place. Small tip - they seem to put their daily specials on Facebook, so if you are going, check it out as the accents are so authentically Italian (thick and fast) we find it hard to decipher. They're all pretty good though - so far never disappointed! Five minutes walk from Northfields Station (Piccadilly Line).

I went to Terracotta for a meal last week with my girlfriend and son and I must say I found the food very fresh, very tasty and portions very generous indeed. The whole experience was very pleasant. It was real wholesome home made Italian cooking. The waitress was extremely helpful in explaining the various dishes on offer and had a great smile and friendly attitude. The food was piping hot and very appetising washed down with a nice bottle of red wine. The place was packed out but dispite this our wait wasnt too long at all.For desserts we ordered terramissu, panacotta which was out of this world. The food and service is the best I have had for a long time.I will be back again and again and highly recommend this place,a gem of a place tucked in the middle of northfields avenue.

Terracotta seemed to get off to a bit of an iffy starty, not sure if it was a deli or a restaurant. They now seem to have ditched the deli angle, focussing on meals. As reviews have mentioned the dining area at the back is small and homely with I'd guess room for about 20 covers. Food is typical Italian fair, but well cooked - more Carlucios than Bella Italia. Service prompt and friendly. They offer an very good value set menu Monday to Thursday, but weekends is al a carte only, which pushes the price up. Saturday lunch for 4 of us sharing starters and deserts and only a small amount on drinks came to £100 which seemed a bit much, good though it was.Recommended midweek - slightly less so for Saturday lunch.

I'm not a fan of Italian restaurants due to feeling ripped off by food I could cook in my sleep. But this place. Wow....I admit we have only had takeaway (3 times) from here but seriously the food is special. Give them a go - you will not be anything other then SATISFIED!

Absolutely LOVE this local Italian which in my view can not be beaten. Great for a girlie lunch, and we have had many that have over run somewhat! a fab evening either as a couple or in a group, Both the cooking and service get a 10/10 for me, the specials are special for example this weekend there was a sublime pasta with walnuts, gorgonzola, raddicio and chicory, mmmmm and we are going again hopefully on Wednesday evening and again on Saturday. My kids (OK they are 17 and 19) adore it and have been in for lunch with friends many times and are always looked after. You will struggle to beat this wonderful, local gem.

We have been coming to this restaurant for the past few years. With only 6 tables it has a fun and cosy atmosphere the perfect to wind down a busy week. Don't be fooled by the small restaurant as the Italian food is among the best in London (if not the best).Every week the restaurant has specials based on seasonal ingredients. They never disappoint. One of the best parts of this restaurant is the well selected and reasonably priced wine list from Italy. We cannot give enough praise to this restaurant.

Second review as have gone back to try the set menu. My kind of food. Tasty, classic italian recipes, unquestionable quality of the ingredients, cooked with great expertise. I was happy enough after my first a la carte first visit, but the great value set menu is another fantastic option, think food is similar/same as a la carte, but menu is offered at slightly less busy times (think it's weekdays lunch and early dinners). Think place is busy as people can tell a winner when they find one, and as a local I hope it stays like that and the place stays open forever!

Fresh food, superbly cooked and great service. A local gem that is important to support. The outside seating is lovely in summer, the wine list is pentiful and there is always a specials list. Really enjoyed my visit.

We thing of this place as our Northfields food Mecca. If you do not call before 6pm, you will struggle to get a table at this much sought after dinner place. The owners and servers are both wonderfully attentive and provide nightly specials based on seasonal produce. For a taste of Italy in a great cosy setting (and without the big name pricing) Come to this place!

The menu is classic italian with some twists. There were a few daily specials which we went for, very tasty and fresh. The main courses are mainly pasta, first courses are salads and the usual bruschettas, anti pasti etc, but all of a very high authentic quality. We had to wait a while for the mains, but thats the nature of the small informal restaurant where the chef cooks to order, so I'd rather wait than have something not so Fresh. A la carte menu is not expensive but not cheap either, just right. Will be going back to try the set menu which looks like great value. The restaurant itself is in a room behind the Italian deli, informal small and casual, not really a place to dress up to go to, but a Great place for a date or a good meal with friends.

Three of us ate here one evening. We tried a variety of dishes and enjoyed all of them. One of our party lives in Italy and is not easily impressed - but he was this time! There was a set menu of two courses for £10.95 which we considered a really good deal, especially given the quality of the food. (Not sure if they offer this every evening - we went on a Thursday). The total cost was pricey because we did not check the cost of the wine we had chosen...and we drank two bottles because it was so good! Good service even though it was full - make a reservation towards the end of the week.

I'd like to comment on the lady who thought it was acceptable to tell the owners of Terracotta that their restaurant needed to be more child friendly -un-believable! As a regular customer of Terracotta, I believe it's a massive selling point that the restaurant is NOT child friendly. I find it astonishingly arrogant, rude and completely lacking in self awareness that this lady thought she could tell a successful business to operate to suit her own selfish needs. I don't believe for one second that the owners were rude to her, however as a very small restaurant with only a few tables and chairs, a child sitting and drawing is taking up a space that could be used by a customer who would buy a full meal with drinks whilst relaxing in the child free environment. The sooner all parents realise that only they think that the whole world revolves around their children, the better.Nappy valley, that's the first I've heard it called that and I've lived in Northfields for 5 years. Then again I run a business and spend a large portion of my time in the company of adults. There are plenty of child friendly places in the area, in addition to Pizza Express and Macdonalds, so please leave the best restaurant as a place of sanctuary - for adults only!

The majority of the reviews are criticizing the chef for his lack of social etiquette but the reality is the man is an artist who creates the most amazing food consistently. No fancy decor, no pizza's, no fancy cutlery or expensive fresco's on the wall just brilliant, authentic food that has never disappointed. Have eaten there on a number on occasions and am amazed by the simplicity and depth of the flavours he manages to conjure up. His wife is a gregarious hostess who speaks with such passion about the specials I have yet to order anything off the menu!! By the way, the chef isn't a monster, he is just a very talented cook whose cooking speaks for itself. If you want a nice conversation and want to feel good about youtself get a life-coach.

Whatever you do, don't make the mistake of taking a small child to this restaurant at lunch time. It is totally child unfriendly despite being located on a road that is known locally as "Nappy Valley". Our two year who was being supervised by two adults and quite happily drawing for most of his time there was clearly not the sort of customer the owner wanted. We complained about the place being child unfriendly and were treated to hostility and shouted at and told never to return. That won't be a problem!

This was our first visit and we were very impressed. The restaurant doubles up as a delicatessan; very cosy - so book as space is limited. We both had potato and leek soup which was very tasty and then I had a spicy sausage penne pasta and my wife had a tomato and cheese toasted ciabatta. Portions were substantial and were very impressed by the speedy and attentive service.

If you like authentic Italian food this has to be one of the best. Allways has at least two specials every evening, last time had seafood with gnoochi, wonderful - fresh pasta allways excellent. Service with a smile - also suggest you try a bit of banter with the chef. While you are waiting for your food check out the great wall art.

I cannot praise the Terracotta enough its a little gem. Its an oasis in a sea of mediocre food and indifferent and rude service that prevails almost everywhere else. I have been to Italy many times and have enjoyed some wonderful meals - eating at the Terracotta immediately transports me back there - without the views!A wonderful place which should be treasured by those of us who appreciate great food and friendly service.

the soup nazi demeanour of the chef just adds to the charm of this gem of a restaurant in Northfields. they make fresh pasta, have a wide variety of beautiful bread (the walnut is amazing), fantastic specials. the sorbets are wonderful too. the waitress is great and really enthusiastic. there's a passion for excellence which don't expect in a deli in a suburban high street - a completely class act and nothing in northfields high street comes close to it.

We stumbled across Terracolta by accident and we were delighted to have done so. The tables are situation in a room behind the wonderful deli at the front of the shop. The service from the lovely italian waitress was great, all the food we had was wonderful and I have to agree with the previous review the coffee was fantastic. They do a great lunchtime special for only £9.95 including 2 courses and a glass of wine. Will be visiting again soon
