Thai by Thai in Cheshire West and Chester

Pad Thai is absolutely delicious!! It's not spicy so even small children could eat it. The staff were very friendly to my daughter. My Japanese friends also love this Thai restaurant. Highly recommend!!

Awful experience. Waited 45 minutes for just a pad thai. This is supposed to be quick stir fried street food! wasn’t informed of how long it would take on ordering, and when the food finally arrived we found a long hair inside it!! On returning was offered a refund but no apology or acknowledgment they had got it wrong. Avoid this unhygienic place with bad customer service and longer wait times than a restaurant. Plenty of other options around in the market.

Food is delicious but as coming back customer I noticed portions got reduced lately.

This Thai food stall in the food market in Chester has really delicious food! We have the prawn pad Thai, Tom Kha Gai and chicken gyoza £22. Really delicious. The food court was buzzy and packed. Great vibes! If you’re Chester, drop in!

Great food at Thai by Thai and Poon Poon. The Matket has a real buzz about it and a great atmosphere. Ordered chicken chow main and prawn in chilli sauce with noodles. Both dishes were delicious and good portions. My only criticism was that the bowls they used are food was served in are metal and the coating is starting to peel off, showing the black metal underneath. Sort that out and it would be a 10/10.

Food is so delicious and wait times are good. The servers didn't talk though which was very awkward and looked like they'd rather be anywhere else! The food is so worth it though!!

Eaten here on numerous occasions and sad to say that it’s slipping.. not sure why but more of the cheaper ingredients, not cooked as well, sauces not as thick or flavoursome… so sad, was a real gem in Chester but now just an also ran

Authentic tom yum goong! Really nice! Even in Hong Kong, Tom Yum Gong is so delicious and affordable!

Absolutely delicious! We've been twice and definitely will be back again. Amazingly flavourful food! I could hardly wait to start and forgot the photo. But I had Tom Yum Goong soup.

The food is excellent. Generous portions cooked to perfection. It is wonderful to watch Thai chefs cooking - just wish I could get the same results at home!

Absolutely banging Pad Thai. Portion size could of fed two! £13. Tasty and satisfying.

After building myself up for something spicy this was a great option. The Chilli and Holy Basil stir fry was fantastic, a good portion size and very filling. Some additional fried rice and prawn crackers got me through to morning. Really enjoyable

Visited today, nice food, fresh, generous portions and hot. Would visit again although for a food court £30 (2 people) is similar prices to a restaurant with table service.

They give u a rose toy-like device that beeps and vibrates when your food is ready which gives you time to look around the market which is super helpful, food was delish and the plates were pretty and i love the whole aesthetic

Had chicken chow mein. Decent sized portion that was really tasty. Good value and would have again. Payment by Mastercard card. It can be a bit of a struggle to find somewhere to sit though.

I was too excited to eat and forgot to take a picture! Incredible value for money and very generous portions. So tasty and its great how much you can customise the noodle dishes. It was so good!

Absolutely incredible food at Thai By Thai! Been here 4 or 5 times now and the food has been 10/10 every time. I have the tofu pad Thai and my fiancee has tofu pad see eew. I've had a hell of a lot of pad Thai's in the past (spend 2 months in Thailand too) and this is the best in England so far. Can't wait to visit again!

Not easy to make a not so good green Thai and this is not so good. Taste only on the surface and super mild. I could taste the raw chicken smelling. Ordered mixed meat but only chicken inside.Ok size though.

I really enjoyed my chicken noodles. It was tasty & fresh. Good sized portion. Reasonably priced at £10. I will go again.

First visit to the new Chester market and was very impressed by the food choices. We settled on Thai and glad we did. I had the Singapore noodles with pork and it was amazing . Large portions and the pork belly was melt in the mouth. I’ll definitely be back.

If you had original Thai food before, this is not it. The staff as others pointed were somewhat rude. Overall okay if you need a "quick" grab. Just manage your expectations regarding authenticity and service quality.

Our first visit to Chester Market since it has been done out. We settled on Thai by Thai from all the street food vendors in the market. It was a great choice. We had vegtable spring rolls, prawn crackers, Chicken Pad Thai and Singapore Chicken Noodles all for £27. Generous portions and the food was delicious. Looking at the queue to order on the night we were there it certainly was possible. As with all market type places, getting a seat is the tricky part but need to be patiant and/or opportunist! but they do have the central seating areas and more seating in two 'wings' away from the main area that did have free seating when we walked round. Would recommend

The Thai girl on the counter needs a holiday. I’ve never seen anyone so miserable serving customers! Manager, please give her a day off!!

Pad Thai was a bit bland but the taste is still pretty decent. The portion is huge !

One of my favourite places in Chester's new market. Great food, great staff, great service. Particularly fond of their crispy chicken, Singapore noodles, tom yum fried rice, and Thai fishcakes.

A super popular hot stir-fry restaurant, even if it opens at 12 o'clock and you order immediately, you still have to wait for more than 30 minutes But the food is of good quality and worth recommending

Their customer service is horrible. Me and my family went to Thai food and the two ladies in the front didn’t even acknowledged us, we then asked if any of their food is vegan and they replied with a very rude manner that everything can be vegan and then when we chose one of them they said it had eggs… we finally chose one from the menu. But overall experience is very not welcoming even if their food was not bad. I am disappointed with the over all experience because me and my family are in Chester for a New Year celebration.

I have eaten in the old market food hall and the Thai food was very good,unfortunately the meal i had here at there new place was just lacking flavour and the mix meats in the dish were very few and just dry . I had the Singapore fried noodles with mixed meats .bad choice for me . It seems to me that you are putting quantity before quality.

I used to really love this place when the market had opened. However recently I have had such awful experiences that I felt the need to write a review. The staff have been quite rude when taking orders and when I or my boyfriend have gone to pick up our food they just shove the food towards us and rudely take the buzzer from you. This I can look past as I know hospitality is hard work and I tend to come in later in the day. However, I have found hair in my food TWICE now and it has made the whole experience very unpleasant and upsetting. They make you feel as tho you are not welcomed to eat from them.

Normally, I cant fault the service and food, but since they have moved into the new Chester Market, it has been very poor in terms of service and food. On one occasion, we went in at 12 noon, expecting to be ready to serve, unlike all other food units who were ready at 11am, but we were asked if we could come back again at 1pm...and even then, they were not prepared. We just ended up looking elsewhere instead. Whilst I didn't visit 'Thai by Thai' for after 6 months, since that time, we decided to give them a second chance. I highly recommend the Tom Kai Gai (chicken) soup - a nice thick broth soup with coconut cream and the lemongrass, gives off the lovely perfume smell and taste of this lovely soup, especially when you chew into the shoots. If you're expecting the Thai Red Curry to be spicy, you would be so disappointed in this. I know that a traditional Thai curry usually gets to the back of your throat with its spices...this did nothing for me and all I could taste was aniseed. My advice would be to just to go there for the soup and nothing else.

The whole menu is full of delightful, good value food. I have tried most eateries in Chester over 20 years and the Tom Kha Gau soup is the best plate of food I've eaten.

Had the Tom yam soup I have had better but not at the price & plenty of it what was going to be more or less a late mourning snack ended up being lunch For £6.50 it was great value.

Had a really tasty chicken chow mein from this place, friendly and fast service, would definitely have again and would recommend.

Pad See Ew was great (cost 9.5£ with beef), though I didn’t love the beef (was bit dry and rubbery to me). The market is great, go visit !!

Had a beutiful Panang. So delicious. Arrived early, we were in the market at 11:45, so managed to get a good table. That would not have been the case by 12:30pm. Lovely atmosphere in the food hall (if you like food hall dining)

Visited Chester market and was so surprised . Such a massive choice of worldwide food . We opted to try the thai food and so glad we did . We had Singapore fried rice mixed meat . It was gorgeous freshly cooked and flavourful and plenty of it . In fact it was that nice after our shopping trip we went back and bought 2 more meals to takeaway to have for our tea when we got home would deffo go again yum yum

I adore thai food, and I ordered crispy chicken, egg fried rice and panang curry - with vegetable gyoza. It came to about £18 but i didn't eat the rest of the day it was so yummy and filling.

Authentic Thai food made by Thai chefs. Fresh, good taste, very good menu choices for vegans as well.

The food is absolutely amazing. It has a rich taste and is very light. You'll never feel bloated after eating. Their Green and Red Curry are the best. It has a thick, creamy taste. Price is very reasonable for what you get. My only complaint is the steel plate that they serve in. It gets insanely hot and almost burns my fingers, trying to carry 2 of those. So be careful with that.

Sharing tables in a market hall and collecting you food via a buzzer may not seem like the idea of a proper sit down meal but get over it and enjoy this wonderful authentic Thai food.. If you’ve travelled you know most of the world has this kind of set up anyway as a main way of public dining Enough to say we now have our go to Thai in Chester, great food top value Other restaurants or all food varieties are available in the same space so if your party has differing tastes well problem sorted!

Visited this place as a keen cook and big fan of Thai food, whilst the overpriced and small portion food is cooked fresh and rice being charged for as an extra (just greed). The experience was totally ruined by Poon who has a real bad attitude laced with the opinion that she is doing you a favour by eating there. Land of smiles??? Not here I'm afraid.

So we stumbled across the eateries in the old market hall which was bustling on a Thursday overcast afternoon in this beautiful city. The choice is plentiful here from Indian to sandwiches, wraps to steak. I opted to try Thai by Thai. Ordered the Holy and basil beef (extra spicy) with fish caje starter. My cousin ordered the Tom Yum rice which I've never encountered. Simply sensational, this place is on par with any London Thai restaurant at a fraction of the cost. 5 stars all the way. So good I ate it all and remembered I'd not taken any photos. So here's the menu instead. Sorry 😞

This is the best chow mein I have ever consumed in my entire existence. Made with the artistic capabilities similar to the like of Van Gough. I cannot praise this restaurant enough.

Absolutely delicious food. My friend and I shared some spring rolls & gyozas, then I had a thai green vegetable curry with sticky rice. It was excellent.

It’s alright, but don’t order the beef! The beef was over cooked, and it wasn’t just one of them… it was quite spicy too, which I didn’t mind.

If you can get a table in the market then this is a great option amongst many. Green chicken curry is very good, always busy.

Went for lunch with friend & our meals were fab...I had the crispy chicken Pad Thai with noodles & my friend had green Thai curry!! The both were so tasty & good portion size. I shall be back soon to try another option for sure. I can highly recommend.

This jewel in the Chester Crown was found by accident walking around a market. Wonderful food and very good value. Went twice on our trip to Chester as it was so fresh and tasty.

Visited Thai by Thai twice since it moved into the new Chester market location and I can happily say it hasn't disappointed. Would recommend both the green and red chicken curries, and the chicken gyozas. Portion sizes are big but not so big you wont clear your plate!

We were regulars at Thai By Thai in the old market and never had a duff meal. Service was always friendly, food plentiful and absolutely delicious. We have tried it twice now, since it moved into the new market and sadly, it's not what it was. Same menu, great! Prices increased, to be expected. Now asked if you want rice with your meal, odd; charged additional £1.50 for this. Portion sizes smaller, disappointing!!! Pad Thai used to be packed with fresh vegetables, dish is now mainly noodles. Crispy chicken green curry sauce, like a completely different meal. Not what you expect from Thai hospitality.

Delicious freshly prepared Thai street food. We had Chicken Green Thai curry and Chicken Pad Thai and both were excellent. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait at busy times. Well worth it though.

Food court we didn't eat but noticed a great choice. Bransby as entertainment he was excellent very crowd orientated. Good selection of music. Lovely atmosphere and great Christmas decorations.

I’ve lost track of what items I’ve had off the menu but they’ve all be top quality.

Was crazy busy here and I expected a wait but it took nearly an hour for the pad Thai and green curry to turn, thankfully they were both amazing and truly worth the wait. Everything tasted fresh and fragrant, portion size was generous as well, enjoyed every last mouthful!

An amazing little hidden gem, a great place to grab some beautiful authentic Thai street food. The place is hidden away in the market and the atmosphere was great made us feel so welcome. I had the crispy chicken with green curry and my bloke...

I have eaten here on a number of occasions, it's down to earth, no airy fairy pretentious air about it, just good fresh wholesome food at an excellent price. Best food in the city by far.

Sorry to say that we won’t be going again, as much as we like the food, I feel they have out-priced themselves, a couple of years ago a Thai curry was £5.50, now it’s £9.50, almost double, how can they justify this, it’s only basically a take away, I feel the owners have got a little greedy for their own good, so sorry to have to write this negative review, but it’s my opinion…….🙁
