Thai Time @ Forest Row in Wealden

First time customer, I only bought a takeaway for one this evening but had the nicest experience! A friendly voice on the phone picked up straight away to take my order. Two separate staff members greeted me as I walked in the door and said they’d be right with me (they were serving customers).They were both so friendly and welcoming despite it being a busy Friday night. One came back less than a minute later and apologised for the ‘wait’! My order was ready exactly on time and was piping hot when I got home. The pad thai was delicious with a generous portion of perfectly-cooked chicken and the vegetable tempura was still crispy because the lid had been cleverly cut to let the steam out (no soggy batter!). This place has an excellent reputation locally and I can see why. Excellent food and service. It makes such a difference to customer experience when you feel looked-after, even when you’re not a dine-in customer. Thank you to the brilliant team at Thai time.

Really great food! So many delicious starters and of the main courses the tamarind duck and seabass in banana leaf were amazing. Very friendly service too. My daughter proclaimed it the best Thai she has ever had and she probably wasn’t wrong?

Amazing food, amazing staff and discovered some lovely wine thanks to my waiter and the Bettel leaf starter is amazing as always, you must try if you haven't.

Thai Time is maintaining the tradition Thai food whereas the others Thai restaurants change into something else. which almost unrecognisable!! Mainly high sugar content. If you want real Thai food, go to Thai Time.

Birdy and family have made a gem of a restaurant. I phoned ahead to ask if still open and they asked the chef to stay for me. Legend.

Really enjoyed the food and service here. Great to see a dedicated vegan menu and there were loads of tasty & tofu dishes to pick from. Flavours were authentic. Perhaps not as spicy as I’d have hoped on the 3 chilli dish, but they said it can be spiced up upon request. So, next time! 😋🌶️

The greatest thai in the world. And I really mean this, I've been to Wales so I should know a thing or two about authentic Thai cuisine.

The food is really delicious. We love coming here. The service is always good. Our favourite is the beef curry and the stir fry vegetables. Their sauces are really really tasty.

The best Tamarind Tofu Stir-Fry me and my partner had! We come all way from Brighton just to get this dish, and every time the food quality is impeccable! We love the atmosphere of the place in Forest Row and the staff are so welcoming and lovely. Great dog-friendly place, highly recommended :)

What can I say! The owners and staff are so welcoming and the food and ambience of this little gem is simply outstanding! The flavours are exquisite and so true to traditional Thai flavours.We have promised ourselves that whenever we go out for dinner/lunch Thai time is the place to be.

Me and the Wife trooped down to Arundel yesterday only to find the place shuttered up and closed. A rare Jem of a restauant. Probably too large. The front section alone would have sufficed. Birdy was always a top lad, and the food splendid. Hopefully detective inspector Jasmine Rice (Mark) will open one in Reigate before long and we will once more be noshing on sweetcorn fritters and sea bass with sticky rice, or Jasmine rice

We haven't been here for a while and remembered it as extremely good ..... however our recent visit was a little disappointing - the starters were all tasty and well cooked and we especially enjoyed the Betel leaves and the squid , The Pad Thai main with prawns was tasty and a generous portion but the Cashew chicken was very disappointing the chicken being overcooked and dry ..... The wine list could do with a revamp - some Ozzie wines please !.... Overall an OK visit but not as good as we remembered ... but we will try again .... It was strange that the place was empty on a Sunday lunch ??????

This restaurant sticks out like a sore thumb, but has character on first impressions. Always dubious about Thai food especially in the heart of Sussex but it was quite enjoyable. The Pad Thai was a little to wet for my liking, but still ate it all. Service adequate and reasonably priced. Probably worth another visit.

Whole experience soured by owner thinking it’s a good idea to block customers in in the car park! Obviously more concerned about himself than his customers - says it all - won’t be going back.

I am a big fan of Thai Time. The food is always excellent and the young friendly staff are efficient and friendly as well as passionate about the food they serve. Its a comfortable and stylish restaurant and there is plenty of space between the tables, so you feel you can talk freely. I brought a good friend here last night who is a big fan of Thai food and he loved it. The squid was incredible as was the sour sausage and we shared the seafood curry and a beef curry which he thought was so good he took some home to give to his wife. We were well looked after and two starters and two mains and (whoops) 2 bottles of excellent wine worked out at 60 each with service which in the current economic climate excellent value. I don't eat out as often as I used to because of the costs but have had much poorer meals for more money in the last year. I think this place is a proper gem and think the village is very lucky to have Thai Time as a venue. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Having tried the smaller Thai time to go in Horsham we wanted to give the sit down restaurant a try. We were not disappointed! Traditional Thai food and attentive staff who knew the menu and were happy to answer any questions we had, The Seabass starter was incredible. Glad we made the drive.

Very good food, we all enjoyed what we ordered, I was blown away by the sour sausages 😋👌 Service was also very good. Not really any parking but there are spaces down the road that aren't hard to find. Only slightly odd thing was the constant scent of antibacterial spray used to clean the tables, the whole restaurant smelled like a hospital when we walked in which was jarring as you'd expect wonderful Thai kitchen smells! 👃Maybe find some unscented cleaner? The restaurant was very clean though 😁

Came here for an anniversary dinner while spending the night nearby. There is limited parking behind the restaurant and additional street parking available. The waiting staff were nice but none of them were Thai. The food was fine but nothing spectacular. I had the Massaman but the potatoes were not cooked all the way through and taste wise, I've definitely had better.

We stumbled upon Thai Time on the way back from a shopping trip, we popped our heads in and managed to get a seat inside, however the outside seating also looks great (weather was not on our side). Service from your staff was super quick and she was extremely polite and attentive. Myself and my wife decided to get the chicken sate, moo ping, pad Thai and the red duck curry. All of which were amazing with large portions and extremely tasty, kudos to you and the team for that! Was a great experience and we will be looking to head back when we are next in the area.

Visited Thai Time in Forest Row for dinner. It was a far cry from what it was when you first set I in business. Not a shadow of what it used to be like & frankly I felt it was a waste of my money. Ordered Chicken Sate as a main course, Red Duck Curry, Pak Choy and Sticky Rice & finished with Banana Fritters & Coffee. 1. Chicken Sate was barely warm and the Sate Sauce was served cold, which was a surprise but ok… This was served as TWO Starter Plates but I guess that too was okay. On mentioning it to the very young waiter, he did provide one fresh replacement plate with the chicken served hot. However, this took almost 20 minutes. 2. The Roast Duck was barely hot, insipid and tasted not very like red curry from Thailand and therefore FAR FROM “AUTHENTIC”. The pineapple was not very like pineapple and can’t have been fresh. No baby aubergine or Lime Leaves etc etc. NOTHING like Thai Red Roast Duck Curry should be! I HAVE BEEN TO THAILAND MANY TIMES and this has consistently been my “go to” Thai curry over there AND I use AUTHENTIC Thai recipes to cook it myself. I therefore know what it’s meant to be like. 3. ⁠The Pak Choi was served in what was a little more than dishwater mixed with a teaspoon of Oyster Sauce!!! Horrible!!! AGAIN, this is something I cook frequently. This wasn’t even hot - it was barely lukewarm warm and the gravy it was in was very runny and had not much flavour. Again, this was replaced and was warmer but arrived back towards the latter part of our meal. 4. ⁠The Sticky Rice - £3.75 was enough for a child of 6 & a million miles from an adult portion. I don’t mind paying money for good food and an adult portion … the serving was barely more than a few mouthfuls!!! Mark, I gave you your FIRST FIVE STAR Review when you and Bam first set up in business and you had full control of your kitchen… At that point the food you prepared and served - had soul and showed the passion you both felt & shared. I hope you take this review in the spirit in which it is meant. As owners you would appear to have sacrificed your passion and soul for a bowl of cash but I know you care. I wish you guys well because I share and believe in your vision. However, I hope you’re able to take your “first born child - Forest Row” back to where you first had it. The Banana Fritters were amazing … I will come back and hope you will consider my critique.

I read the reviews and took my extremely picky foodie friend who dines 5*. + on so many occasions do I was a tad concerned that thai time might not live up to his expectations…I was so wrong he absolutely loved the food and the place. I had the dumplings and then beef curry and I cannot tell you how authentic the food is here it is absolutely stunning and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Only downside was the wait between starter snd main was a bit long but tbh I would have waited happily a couple of hours for thst curry! Staff were very good and apologised for the delay x

Very good food and out of this world curry

Had lunch with dad on saturday, the food is exellent and is the service is top notch. Been going here since it opened and love coming back again and again. Dad has worked and travelled in thailand and will say the food is the best he's tasted outside thailand, i agree. The spices and flavours and quality of produce are top level. If you want an authentic thai feast look no further.

Food hit and miss and a bit too big. Tofu stir fry was too salty almost unrelieved tofu, bit monotonous. Squid mostly batter. Nice curry, nice corn cakes.

This is by far the best Thai food I've ever eaten and so authentic. The dishes seem pricier than you're average Thai takeaway but I found the quality on point with the money. This was my second visit to Thai Time after having a delicious experience a month or so prior and I was craving more! The atmosphere is also very clean and cosy, with staff being polite and friendly. I will be back very soon.

Been here many times (both takeaway and eat in) and each time has been exceptional. I've tried most items on the menu and I love them all. The quality of the ingredients is incredible and everything tastes so fresh and authentic

First time visit read reviews all gave good We found the starters ok, My husband had duck curry which was very fatty. 2 different types of noodles both cold And when the bill came a 250 ml glass of house wine was £13.50 2 glasses an unbelievable £27.00 hence no going back for us

Some of the best south-east Asian food I have eaten in this country. Very authentic. Lovely friendly service and reasonably priced. We were visiting the area, wish we lived closer so we could eat there again.

Such a great experience here. I’m a celiac and also cannot eat dairy so eating out can sometimes be hard for me. These guys were ON IT from the moment we walked in and made me feel super safe. They had a great selection of gluten and diary free options too so for once I didn’t feel like I was missing out. The food was DELICIOUS and the service was wonderful. The waiter was so attentive on learning that we loved spicy food he offered to have the kitchen make our curries a little more spicy - they were perfect!! So bravo Thai time. You have the perfect blend of delicious food, friendly and attentive service and great value. We will be back!!

Nice food, slow service even though not busy. Am allergic to animals and waiter wouldn't ask pet owner to keep pet by them only. Pity, as before that evening this was my favourite restaurant in the area.

We tried a range of the food and, honestly, each course was amazing. The dumplings are to die for, the banana fritters are incredible and the three mains we had blew us away. The only tiny problem was the very slow service but that wouldn't put us off going back next time we're in the area. What a find!

This is my favourite restaurant and I've been coming here for many years. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is kind and courteous. However, not tonight! Four of us went for a dinner and had such an awful service that I decided to write about it... One of my friends ordered prawn dish and was soon told that there are no more prawns left so she's changed it to chicken. When the dish was presented to her, it had prawns but mostly empty heads. On raising this, the waitress apologised. I've ordered vegetarian pad thai and made a specific point about it having egg on top. When the dish came, it was vegan with no egg. I questioned this and got an offer to re-make it which I declined as I wanted to eat at the same time as my friends. By 9.30pm, the bill was placed on the table without offer for drinks refreshment or a dessert. The restaurant was still full so it felt like we were being told it was time to go. The bill was for the full amount which I refused to pay. I asked for the prawn dish to be taken off as it had no prawns. I was told that is not possible as the dish was eaten. I mentioned the pad thai mistake and was told that the waiter was new. I refused to pay the bill again and was offered 10% discount, 10% of the single dish which amounted to £1.35. I refused again as this was unacceptable. Eventually, after more toing and froing, the dish was taken off the bill and the card machine was thrown on the table to make a payment. This is not the way to treat your customers! I will likely go back as the food is best one around but if this is an indication of their new approach to customer service, it is unlikely to be busy for long.

Food was delicious but service really let this lovely place down. The waitress was very polite but very inexperienced. Mains took ages to come, we had to ask where they were and then they came with some of them and said the rest wouldnt be long but 10/15mins later we had to ask again and the girl then came back with them! How long had they been sat there ready I wondered.... However, they did take a round of drinks off our bill for this delay Ambience was nice and relaxed and again the food was great when we got it! Massive vegan menu which was great for us as we had so much to choose from!

I've been trying to go here for a while now and finally booked. Firstly, NO PAARKING was told by a very rude Indian man to move from the only spaces available at the back. So the 3 min walk from down the road was not needed! Secondly the table was small and very dimly lit we asked to move to a brighter table but apparently all other tables had been booked specifically??? We also realised our table was situated right next to a little kitchen/bar/waitress area which wasn't very pleasant either. However, the food was very very good the mixed starter for 2, massamann curry and green curries were delicious. So to sum up if you want frills don't come here if you just want to go for go Thai then come here but book an outside table maybe?!

My wife and I enjoyed a great meal at Thai Times on a recent visit to the area. Service was prompt and friendly and orders were efficiently taken. The Menu is limited but very interesting. Shared a Dumpling starter and then had main courses of Minced Pork with Holy Basil , Morning Glory , Sea Bass in Banana Leaf and steamed Jasmine Rice. We made the wrong choice for the Sea Bass ( not very flavoursome ) and in hindsight , we should have looked for an alternative. All other dishes were exceptional. Some were quite spicy and all were very tasty. My wife is Thai and so she also opted for a Thai Dessert which looked like a lime green Sponge Cake. The Food was altogether very good. Tastes were authentic to the Land of Smiles. We had several drinks with the meal and we enjoyed the relaxing ambiance of a very nice Restaurant. Not really for the Budget conscious , but a Restaurant that must be highly recommended.

Always had a great time. Here food is a little bit on the pricey side and the tofu was a little bit too soft for us, but that’s just a matter of taste. Definitely check it out as one of the best restaurants in the local area.

The food was very nice, staff in general were nice, efficient too. Not very impressed at all with our initial greeting. We had booked for 6:30, were prompt, and were informed by the youth in the baseball hat the table had another booking for 8. Yeah, thanks for that. Welcome. Our table for two was next to a family who were a bit lively and playing a card game. Fine, but it was a bit noisy and we couldn't hear ourselves really. Asked if we could be moved. Nope, all booked evidently, although most were still empty when we left. There isn't any parking so best to park in the village. Very nice food though.

Fantastic food, so full of flavour. Really good service as well, knowledgeable staff who were willing and able to advise on what dishes to choose. Lovely setting as well, nice and roomy in the restaurant.

Just up from the high street in Forest Row on the main road. We had booked and the place was fairly busy on a Thursday evening. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. My wife and I sat outside on a lovely evening, though had to go inside due to the rain, where the staff quickly found us another table. My wife loves Som Tum and we think they used Turnip and not green papaya, having said that it was Thai hot, and delicious though for me far too hot but is how the Mrs likes it, they tend to temper the heat in the Uk but this place had authentic Thai esan style so be careful if you ask for it hot. We had Thai prawn crackers, Som tum, Chicken curry, a bit too sweet, Krap pow and stir fried veg and a couple of beers. One of the closest to authentic Thai flavours we’ve had in the UK and would eat there again.

Superb food and flavours. The sharing platter was a spectrum of Asian flavours and the red duck curry and mixed sea food stir fry curry were a joy to eat. My wife and I live 300 miles away otherwise we would certainly make this a regular place to eat. Don’t miss this restaurant if you enjoy Asian food.

Excellent service and food, we unexpectedly visited Forest Row and found this hidden gem had a sharing platter and chicken satay and as a main bee curry with steamed rice, wonderful food, would recommend if you visit Forest Row Adrian and Annabelle the Hurst Arms Public House in Eastbourne

Absolutely the best Thai food in south of England. Food taste is comparable to homemade food using authentic ingredients. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for Thai food.
