Went here for a family Christmas meal during December and was easily the worst Christmas meal or even roast dinner I have ever had everything about it was absolutely awful I’ll be avoiding this place going forward

Popped in for a quick lunchtime drink. Only a handful of customers most of which the barmaid and spent lots of time chatting with them. I sat near he window and watched the world go by, quite happily lost in my thoughts. This is the sort of lace where you can have a chat and actually hear each other

Very nice place to drink, pricy but nice.

I went here on the 24th of July really enjoyed my burger, beautiful hot day. Great Guinness, nice young waiter then, again in August enjoyed my beef and spuds 🥔 could’ve been a bit larger

Best Roast dinner in Eastbourne.

Visited for a private function. Staff were great. Everything was exceptional.

It was a cold rainy night, but we decided to come out anyway. They called last orders at 9:30pm. When I asked if that was a regular thing was told it was because they were not busy enough. So we finished our drinks and went to the pub over the road. Guess we’ll go somewhere else in future.

The best roast, 10/10. Great staff, dog friendly, amazing food and atmosphere. Will always come back. Nice garden too.

This pub had come recommended so I was looking forward to having a Sunday lunch with friends there. Very helpful and friendly staff and lovely atmosphere but was let down by the food. The beef was so tough that I couldn’t eat it at all which was a shame because the veggies and roast potatoes were very nice. I spoke to the waiter who said he’d mention it to the chef and that I could have an alternative but by that time I had nearly finished the rest of the meal. Since meat is the most expensive item of a lunch, I would have thought I would have been offered a discount/refund but was not. I notice that another reviewer had a similar experience to me so I would have thought the pub would have learnt from this and changed their butcher but obviously not. My friends did not have the beef and their lunch was satisfactory. A disappointing experience.

Nice little place with delicious food - would recommend the cajun chicken burger.

If you do absolutely nothing else, you have to try the garlic mushroom starter! It is AMAZING! The portions were plentiful, and beautifully presented. We were hoping to have a dessert, but we're far too full unfortunately. Will definitely return 🙂

We visited today as a family of 4 adults, 2 children. We were greeted by very friendly staff. Young lady explained we could order at the bar or she would take our order at our table. The children had roast beef , 2 adults had pork belly which was plentyful and hot.one had lamb shank and the other roast beef. All of us said how nice it was. Saying that we all made the same comment, why is the food served in bowls not plates. Personally a plate would be much better . Deserts are lovely especially the fruit crumble.service was on point we were very well looked after. 4 x adult roasts. 2 x children roasts. 4 x deserts. Pint of lager, pint of lime /soda 1x j2o and 2 fruit shoots. Bill was £119 , very good value we thought. Garden is better than it was when visited last year but still needs a tad more work doing to it. Just some TLC.we enjoyed our visit today thank you to all the staff

We waited 50 minutes for our food and when it arrived it was served in a bowl. This was roast dinners served in a bowl. The beef was very tough and when we mentioned it they just apologised and 3 of us had the beef. We had to ask for the pudding menu and that didn’t take as long to come but the apple and raspberry crumble had crushed up biscuits on the top and these were rather hard and dry. We arrived at 12 and finally left at 3.20. We also got charged full price for the tough beef.

Great welcome and friendly staff throughout, good menu couple of things unavailable but we were told this at the start and there was a great choice. The food was lovely large portions so go hungry, lovely fresh veg.

First time visiting this pub with friends. Waitress was very helpful and pleasant. Food was very nice we had main course and desert. The only hiccup was when we asked for dessert menus we only had five minutes to order them but it wasn't a problem the waitress just went to warn the chef.The deserts were yummy.All in all a very nice meal and would go back again.

Without doubt the best spot in Eastbourne. Visiting my mum from Australia - pub is great, staff are incredible and the beautiful home cooked food is unreal. Definitely worth a visit if you’re around

2nd time we have been since change of management. Pub is done out so nice but garden needs some TLC. Staff very friendly and nice atmosphere. Serving of food was slow after ordering and only one of table eating. Starters took over 45 mins to arrive. Food was of good quality although steak and ale pie was over salty. We wouldn't rush back.

A lovely well presented meal. Generous portion and very tasty. Helen served us and was so patient and helpful. My friend has complex dietary issues and Helen took time and consideration to help with this.Thank you. And the chef too !

The staff are absolutely lovely. Very accommodating. As a solo female i felt so safe. The food was absolutely amazing. Could have my steak cooked to my exact liking. Reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.

I organised my daughter baby shower at the Alexandra arms today . The staff were very helpful, polite and couldn’t do another for us even inflated the ballon’s for us as we was running out of time 🥰The food was freshly cooked and totally outstanding . Thank you all For making the baby shower run so smoothly , we all had a beautiful time .

First time in what is now our local. Really friendly and welcoming pub including for our dog. Will definitely be back. We didn't eat but look forward to doing so in the near future.

This is a real gem of a Restaurant/Pub with a great atmosphere. Very friendly staff. We had a delicious dinner which was beautifully presented. Reasonably priced. A must visit for any occasion.

Dreadful staff horrible attitude ruined Boxing Day for about 4 different families and to top it off we are all ill from the food definitely won’t be coming here again AVOID!

Went for lunch with santa kids meal was just chicken nuggets and chips no beans or veg pudding was just a spoon of ice cream in a bowl. Kids cutlery was old plastic and dirty. Staff no clue what's going on

I'd highly recommend this pub. It has a nice homely feel to it. Staff are very welcoming. And we couldn't fault the food or service. It was our first visit here. But we will definitely be returning again soon.

Nice place although the furniture makes it feel quite dark. Very friendly staff and really helpfull. Great garden with awsome little houses for the kids to play in. Dogs are welcome which is lovely. The only down side really is not much seating that isn't reserved. You can still used the reserved seating so isn't all bad but have to move or leave an hour before the reserved time slot on the table so they can clean it etc. Pricing isn't too bad either. Chips are yummy and not too expensive and drinks are pretty affordable too. When I went the ramp door was closed with a sighn to use the other door so not great for buggies or wheel chair users, I'm not sure if that's a common thing or just a one off

We booked our Chrismas dinner for our party of 19 at the Alexandra Arms and so pleased we did. All the staff were so helpfull and proffesional and really went above and beyond to make it a night to remember. As for the meal itself it was a absolute delight from presentation, timing, quality and quite simply a flavour sensation.Massive thanks to the chefs who prepared and cooked truly outstanding meals for us. Trust me people you really need to give this place a try, you will not be dissapointed. Thanks to all.

Good pub/eatery with its own small car park - extremely dog friendly. Super menu of well cooked food with great staff & management. Certainly well worth a visit to appreciate a proper comfortable atmosphere & nice garden too.

Traveled Wales to east Sussex to see our son. He had booked a meal here. Perfect food, care, clean facilities, quick service with a smile. Staff were fantastic. Would recommend to all. Dog friendly. The eve we went they had a quizz to raise funds for hospice. Clearly very caring pub at heart of community. Great decoration that looked clean an fresh.

A good welcoming pub,found this establishment by chance really (as on line it was stated as closed) and noticed the lights were on so decided to pop in and see if we were ok for a meal and we were! We all had roasts of which were tasty but the veg could have been cooked a little longer and the roast pots also needed further cooking but alas as mentioned the meals were tasty,two of us had desserts of which were very nice! In the way of entertainment there seems plenty of it at The Alexandra Arms and noticed the night before a tribute to Adele was on and seemingly a great night was had by all,we shall return to this fine pub soon.

What’s not to like? Nice pub with friendly staff and good food. We both enjoyed our meals (squid and asparagus followed by chicken burger and sirloin steak). Steak was very tender and perfectly cooked. The only minor niggle was it would have been lovely if they’d have lit the fire (was a chilly night). We’ll be back soon.

This is my Favorite pub where Mum and Dad take me ...So Dog friendly and when I behave I get a treat .Love all the super friendly staff who make my evening. Mum and Dad Love the Homemade Specials and the great Wines.

I would like to share my views with you we came to celebrate my mother-in-law's 80th birthday my starter came out frozen the children's burgers were burnt I had to be reordered to cook Also my daughter and my husband had mashed potato the amount of salt when he was unable to eat

Such a warm and friendly welcome. We stopped by for a late Sunday dinner and they couldn't do enough to help us. Great food, large portions, we left very full! Will definitely return when in the area. (Recommend the nachos and the steak pie)

After reading other reviews we must have visited on an off day!, We were a family of eight and went for Sunday lunch. The staff were very nice and drinks were served quick. We ordered mainly roast dinners and a lamb shank. The lamb was tough but the sauce was nice. The roast dinners were served in a pasta bowl! I can only gather that this is to cut down on portion size, if it had been served on a plate the food would have scarcely covered the bottom. We were all hungry still after eating. £15 was not value for money so for this reason we would not return again.

Visited today with the family and 2 dogs, was a lovely atmosphere. We were all a bit baffled as to why the roast dinners were served in a bowl as made it a little more difficult to cut than on a plate. Nice food, friendly staff but was a fair wait for food to arrive. Overall a nice experience and the pub has had a great refurb and turn around to what it used to be.

Fabulouse Sunday dinner ,the only thing I would say Is it would would be lovely on a plate not a bowel. And if there was roast lamb on menu . Not lamb shank . Would pay a bit more if needed . Great dinner . Lovely staff .

By far the best Veggie/Vegan selection in and around Eastbourne. Meat eaters were very happy with their meals too. Thoughtful team (grizzly 2 year old) did all they could to make everyone's experience a good one. Fair prices. Good selection. Carpark. Big garden. WOULD I RECOMMEND? YES, 100% WILL WE GO BACK? 100% YOU TRY AND STOP US!

Hearing good reports about the food here we decided to book for lunch. Greeted very warmly by staff and seated quickly at a reserved table. We ordered lamb shanks, roast beef and belly pork along with childrens roast beef. The food took quite awhile to arrive but that was fine as we sat chatting and it was well worth the wait. Loaded plates of piping hot food. Everyone said the food was delicious. We ordered desert and the fruit crumble was lovely, huge ,we thought first of all the dish was to be shared as it was so big. The staff are lovely ,very friendly and work very hard. Decor is very nice and the place spotlessly clean. If we had one small niggle we feel the garden needs some attention to bring it up to the same standard of the interior. Thank you to everyone for a pleasant visit

Not one person in our group of 7 had anything bad to say about the food which is a miracle! There's plenty of room for people to spread out: garden, conservatory and bars. All staff were pleasant and friendly. Definitely worth a return visit.

Bon local, amb un calendari variat de propostes gastronòmiques i musicals cada setmana. Gran varietat de cerveses per a degustar aquests dies que hem estat a Eastbourne ja que ens hem allotjat a prop del local, i no el cambiaria per cap dels que hi ha més al centre. Ambient tranquil i servei molt amable tots els dies que hem anat.

Since this place was taken over and totally revamped, it's never looked better. Nice atmosphere, great food and drink. That's all you can ask for in a pub! Good transport links nearby to seaside, with convenient and regular buses, if you don't fancy driving.

Came here for the first time and the food was outstanding would highly recommend for a meal with the family the staff are so friendly and welcoming definitely be back with the family and its not too expensive either

Had a last minute lunch here on 22/04/23. Both of the ladies running the front of house gave us great service and a warm welcome. The aesthetic, the service and the quality of food all exceeded our expectations of a Greene King establishment. Especially considering the exterior/location and the fact that I have worked in a couple myself some years back in a different area.

Went for Mother's day and wasn't disappointed. As a vegan family we were pleased by choices on the menu. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. Everyone cleared their plates! We didn't have room for dessert but there was 4 options, and all sounded pretty good. Lovely staff and service too. Will definitely be returning soon.

Went with friends for the quiz night and decided to eat beforehand. 40 min wait for food, 1 order was wrong, surly waitress, no apology. Bar was staffed by young girls who were more interested in standing around chatting and looking at their phones than serving customers. Food average and overpriced. Quiz was disorganised and went on for hours.The quizmaster couldn't pronounce a lot of words and kept mucking it up....all a bit of a shambles really. Thought we would give it another go with a music night a few weeks later as we had heard the artist was good. Booked a table nearly 3 wks in advance specifically asking to be near to the musician as one of our party is disabled.Arrived to be told table was reserved but in other bar, far away from the music and right next to the door making it difficult for my friend to sit. Waitress (same surly one as previous visit), said everyone wanted to be in the other bar so she couldn't do anything then walked off. Therefore so did we, straight out the door. I always believe in giving 2nd chances but in doing so there was no improvement in the staff attitude. We won't go back. And why on earth don't they accept cash? That's a loser too. Madness.
