We had a Christmas do here. The service was great. The food was absolutely fantastic. And it's a great pub in the heart of the city.

Went on a busy weekend with live music on. Great off and choice of beer

Very cosy atmosphere here and the framed pictures on the wall add a lovely homely touch. I've only been here in the evening but have heard good things about the views of the river during the day

Elvis and the team did a fantastic job going above and beyond to host our event back in August. They really made it an amazing day.

Beautiful location, great atmosphere and a well festive place! The team has done a great job with this! I decided to visit and enjoyed 2 lovely meals with my partner! I had a fish and chips, and my girlfriend had the Shepherds Pie. Both delicious meals and must say the beers that are in line... amazing. We'll preserved Neck oil! Came back again and the service has been outstanding as per normal 👏 👌

Extremely friendly staff that would go above and beyond for us all! Great value for drinks! Highly recommend this place. And if you're a rock fan, then I highly recommend you to have a look at the Pink Floyd Legacy and pictures all around the building! Really decent dishes! Highly recommend to try the Shepherd's Pie! My friend who had the Fish and chips said it was amazing and seemed quite big!

From the start of planning our Christmas meal with the Christmas co-ordinator and the staff have been so helpful with everything, even down to the name cards on tables and they could not do enough to make sure we had a great time. The food was absolutely amazing I had the duck for a starter and followed by the roast turkey with the best gravy I have had in ages and then the dessert was just wow, which was the sticky banana pudding with banana ice cream, everyone else from the booking said they had a great time and the food was amazing and we will be back in the new year. Thank you again to all the staff and hope you have a Happy Christmas.

We came here for our Christmas do and were so impressed! Elvis was so helpful and friendly with the planning and organising, especially with our groups allergies and food preferences. When we arrived the tables were set up beautifully with our names, choices and welcome drinks already done! Cannot express how friendly and accommodating all the staff were on the day. Thanks again, can’t recommend enough.

My friends and I had a lovely Christmas party here! The food was AMAZING, and the staff were so welcoming and friendly - plus they were more than happy to make a variety of cocktails which were very tasty. Would absolutely recommend to anyone in Cambridge!

Omg I attended The Anchor with my work colleagues for our staff Christmas meal on Friday 6th December. Elvis and the other staff were so accommodating to the needs of myself and my colleagues. The food was out of this world and was presented well. It is a shame that the venison and sticky banana pudding are not on the normal menu. I personally want to thank Elvis for his patience with me when it came to my colleagues needs and enquiries. He was friendly, approachable and seemed like he was always up for a laugh. Id absolutely come here again.

We had a great time here after we came back from our punting tour. You have to order at the bar and everyone is very friendly. The later we stayed, the louder it got. We eventually left because we couldn't hear each other without yelling. I'm not talking about music, it was just crowded.

I ate today with my family and we were a group of 10. The food was very good but the best was the service: the boy and the girl who served us were super friendly and helpful, exceptional.

We came yesterday with a group of around 12, we were greeted with swift service - drinks ready for us on the table and we had little cards with our orders to avoid confusion. The starters were really nice and it came out like I say all very swiftly. It was very well organised so hats off to the staff that managed to bring all the food and things out together with multiple different big groups. The only issue I had was myself and my friend both had the plates cleared completely from the table I was still eating my starter, which made me feel rushed and my friend was half way through her meal - the rest of the group had finished but she was made to also feel rushed the entire table was being cleared without any acknowledgement one member of the table was still indeed eating. Just something to be mindful of in the future, but all round it was nice food. So thanks for accommodating us!!

Great view of the river! Staff have been very friendly and attentive despite the high volume of it being busy!! Food out quite fast and the quality of the meals was extremely good! Praises to Freya and Emma, who made our day special. Been here in the past and must say the locks in the toilets are really good to have installed as they do seem a lot cleaner than the previous visit.

Amazing location for the perfect window seat to watch the sun set. Didn't have any food to comment on.

Came in and had one of the best Pub Roast I have had in a while the views are stunning and the staff and services are just fantastic thank you for making our day out amazing. Will be back soon I might book a Christmas meal with family.

Fond memories of this riverside pub from 30 years ago. Sadly on a late afternoon in November the atmosphere was flat, the place was not particularly clean, empties left on the tables, and taps not working in the toilets. Staff were fairly indifferent. Signs pinned to walls complaining about 'non-customer' use of facilities, and blaming them for maintenance issues do not lend an inviting air to the place. External area would be nice in summer

The food is absolutely amazing and to die for, drinks are amazing and the service is incredible. Staff are making sure to give you the best every time no matter how many drinks you go up for 🤣. Very pleasant atmosphere. Truly recommend and will be going again.

Vinimos a tomar unas copas con amigos y el personal era increíble como de costumbre! (Un habitual aquí). Guiando con fantásticas opciones de bebidas y tenían algunas recomendaciones increíbles sobre aperitivos para llevar con ellos. Es impresionante que tienen cerraduras de inodoro, ya que parece haber mejorado el estado de ellos, ya que en el pasado definitivamente había problemas. Excelente trabajo de la dirección en hacer las cosas como tales!

Delicious food, charming environment and exceptionally engaging staff that made my day!

Lunch on a Friday at 1:30 p.m. Two starters, one fish and chips, three drinks. Just under 60 pounds, British prices... Waiting time was okay, quality too.

Best damn fish and chips in Cambridge. And the staff are second to none. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a lovely dining experience.

Great food, friendly staff, lovely location. We ate upstairs with a beautiful view of the river. We really enjoyed the food. The staff were welcoming and friendly.

We very much enjoyed a steak sandwich, chicken club sandwich, fish finger ciabatta, wings, fries and thick cut chips. Friendly service. Good selection of beers. Nice outlook over the River Cam. Dog friendly.

Gem of a spot! Right on the river watching the boats go by! Great wine and snacks were delicious!

Roast Beef at £21 was at least a third gristled fat, with hardly any "trimmings" e.g. one tiny tinned carrot. How much would it cost to add some vegetables? Several times different waiting staff went to grab our glasses before we had finished. Why? The toilets have a ridiculously long code on a dodgy lock which keeps out customers, as well as passers by. Very disappointed on our visit.

We only had a drink in the beergarden. Nice place to sit down and enjoy

Atmospheric pub with good selection of ales and beers. Food is testy too. The place has 3 levels and outdoor terrace facing the Cam. Place is quite popular at night even on the working days. Ground floor is accessible by wheelchair. There is a toilet for people with disabilities.

Simple and reliable pub fayre. Range of beers but as a brewer I found the lager unexceptional. Suggest you stay with the cask-conditioned ales.

Fantastic place to enjoy a pint on the river

Clean and spacious but. Not the biggest selection of beers but you will find something suitable. Location makes this pub very much worth the visit. Prices are on the expensive side

The mood was very nice, nuce view on the river but the food was really mid. We got the fish fingers ciabbeta and the soup of the day wich was brocoli peas and mint. The servuce was nice.

Wow what a night!!! Was reccomend to stay and listen to the band.......and well was over come with such good music at such a beautiful venue . Yes a little tired....... But .... The staff are the real diamonds... Great recommendations.... Food and wow the insight about the drinks , they seem so passionate and love being there, HATS OFF TO THE STAFF . Treat the staff well and they shall guide you the way . Amazing place and hope to come back soon

Lovely staff and nice place for food and drink

Visited The Anchor after Punting for my daughters birthday. The food was good but we had to wait so long with no communication from the staff of how long it was going to be, but the shock was the service charge of £18 I do think was way too much for the service we received. I thought tipping was always at the discretion of the customer and paid at a level to which the service deserves, not just added on regardless of the service. We then used the toilets as we left and the ladies were filthy, not something you expect in an establishment like this.

Came here with friends, expensive food for what it is, nothing special. Nice view over the river that’s about it. I paid the bill for us & later that evening when we were sorting the payment (away from the pub) noticed there had been a 12.5% service charge of nearly £25 added on. In very small print it’s on the bottom of the menu they add service charge but not how much I wish I had queried this. I don’t think pubs should do this, it was not a restaurant & we did not receive service all evening, simply a main & a drink each so where is that money going.

Food is great, service was great too..it's in a great location on the river in the town centre. It was pretty quiet Saturday evening but all round a great experience.

Great service, Ian was friendly and made the visit worthwhile. So good to see he was there since my last visit. Will visit again next time I'm in Cambridge!

A tight pub by the river. Not much good can be said about him. The food is tasty but nothing spectacular, the prices are moderately high, the service is unpleasant and the toilets are dirty and smelly. The advantage is the view outside the window. Overall, nothing special.

Lovely experience at the bar with an extremely knowledgeable bar man who made some great suggestions! Highly recommend!!

Top location for watching the punters! Food was fine, just nothing special…

Managed to nab a table on terrace overlooking the Cam, and spent the next three very entertaining hours eating, drinking and watching people trying to punt their way up and down the river. The food was lovely and the staff exceptional. This is our go to pub in Cambridge each time we visit and cannot wait to be back a some point in near future.

What a super pub overlooking the Cam and watching the punts a'punting. But the real highlight were the fabulous staff. Warm friendly and always up for a joke and a jape. Food was just fabulous. We had the pan-fried Seabass as a healthier option to fish and chips. So glad we did!! Crispy exterior and freshest fresh meat. The clever bit was the pairing with chorizo, sliced potato, capers and spinach. Wow! To finish off we had the most excellent Sticky Toffee Pudding. Scrumptious. A wonderful, rewarding evening and excellent value to boot! Tim! Highly recommended.

The Anchor has always been our favorite pub in Cambridge, with it's prime location by the river, cosy English pub vibes & fantastic food. So hosting our wedding reception here was an easy choice—and it was perfect! Elvis was fantastic from the start, helping us organize every detail and always on hand to answer any questions, he ensured our day was exactly as we imagined. The staff on the night were incredible—helpful, professional, and attentive, making our guests feel welcome and cared for. The food was fantastic, with guests raving about it all evening, especially the desserts! We're beyond grateful to Elvis and the team for making our special day unforgettable. Cannot recommend enough!!

I always go to the Anchor. Its such a lovely pub overlooking the river and the punters. The team are always on the ball and super friendly. The food is great. Definitely reccomend.

The day manager was extremely helpful and took time to give our party the background regarding how three members of Pink Floyd met at his pub. Very much appreciated. The Scottish egg was very tasty and is highly recommended.

Great vibe still. A bit on the disappointment to see the non customers raid the toilets that way. I feel for the staff

Great beer selection! Loved the Sticky toffee pudding Best deserts in Cambridge. Big turn around from my last visit. Place has much friendlier people. Shame about the toilets, definitely the company must invest there as non customers pillage them.

After visiting the pub 3 times this year, lovely place, good selection of drinks but VERY poor toilets for the ladies, Each time we have been, there has been NO toilet roll or hand soap for the ladies, each time we have had to tell the manager or bar staff about this to which they say that they such a heavy footfall of people using them who are not drinking in the pub, should you be allowing them in ? This is very un hygenic for all !! Is this part of your hygiene standards ?? A sign is on the doors but no one is monitoring this !!! Is this something you could look into to and be restocking regularly like service stations !!

Great Riverside pub with a fine selection of drinks. Staff were chatty and friendly. Will definitely be coming back.

It was our favourite pub during our summer programme. Close to university colleges, cozy terrace by the river Cam. Good local beer and Guinness. Perfect place to have good discussions with friends and colleagues.

We enjoyed The Anchor. We had a Non alcohol Metropolitan mixer, a toastie with ham and sourdough with grilled veggies. All tasted great. Sitting on the terrace at the waterfront it was a joy watching the punters. It's outside the main centre but worth visiting!

Fab bub by the river in the middle of Cambridge

Lovely place overlooking the river. Food was delicious..... Had to wait quite a while for dessert else it would be 5 stars all round.

Useless, couldn’t sit eight for lunch in an empty restaurant… whole level empty on a Tuesday holiday time … that’s a few hundred lost to bad staffing.

Terrible food for the price you pay, great staff though so not all bad

The restaurant is well located on the bank of the Cam, so great if you have finished punting. The service was great with all the staff attending to our needs and very friendly and helpful. The food was really tasty, I had the sea bass, however I felt the chorizo piece in the dish were overdone. The peach melba was amazing and would recommend to anyone. The temperature in the top restaurant was rather hot, but was a very humid day, if the sash windows can be opened half and half it would really help. Overall the restaurant was great and we had a wonderful time and the food was of good quality.

We visited Cambridge in mid-July and our dinner at The Anchor was a major highlight of our weekend! The service was fantastic - Freya was friendly and helpful, and ensured that we had the best experience possible. Despite the menu having quite a few attractive dishes, she helped us pick the perfect choices for our group. The food was amazing - we had a large group and selected different options to try a bit of everything and there wasn't a single dish that wasn't delicious. I got the salmon and would strongly recommend it. We were sat by the window, which was perfect for a sunny day, and could watch the punters attempt to go under the bridge without falling off - this was great entertainment. My one complaint is that the toilets are in very poor condition - the restaurant shares the toilets with a pub and when we went, they were flooded and extremely crowded. There is a sign saying people use it as a public toilet, but I do feel that this is no excuse for a restaurant to have an extremely dirty toilet and I hope they fix this for future customers. But the food and the service and the environment are all so amazing that they outweigh the toilet situation - just go to the toilet before you go to dinner!

The service and food was lovely. It is a little pricey but that's what you expect in a prime location. ***One thing I would note is the toilets are absolutely disgusting. The smell was appalling and I had to fight to get past the big round toilet roll holder that was hanging off the wall which was most uncomfortable. I would not have eaten here if I'd seen them first.***

Great service lovely place to stop for a drink by the river

A chilled out place, not too crowded, neat interior and friendly barman/ staff. A good variety of drinks and even an outside terrace next to the river. Ales were nice and coctails also a good mix. Just watch your head as there is a low ceiling before the lowest setaing area. Nice that TVs are there for the sports fans too.

Recommend to put a lock on the toilets they are filthy from public using them and the smell is lingering into the pub
