I paid £15+ for two drinks, and it comes in plastic. Band was tuneless and depressing and the outside area smelled like landfill.

A lovely rambling pub that just seems to keep on going. The bar is straight ahead when you enter, but there are rooms all around, including a pool table and a sizeable outdoor area out the back. One of our group had some white bait, which was lovely, but even the four of use couldn't finish it. If this is the standard, you won't go hungry here. It was a quietish afternoon when we were there, but the staff were up for a chat and very pleasant. I can't remember what the other guy's were drinking, but I don't remember any complaints. The Guinness was excellent.

Booked a two nights stay here (weekday) during half term for myself and two children. The rooms had recently been refurbished and there was the nice new carpet smell. The room was very clean and we had everything we needed, Tea making, TV, Wi-Fi etc. The en-suite was lovely although the bathroom door could have done with a squirt of WD40 as it was a little squeaky. We didn’t use the Bar, only to check in and the staff member was very polite and kind, offered to carry my bags etc. there’s a separate entrance for guests so you don’t have to go thru the bar area unless you want to. I was a bit dubious booking a room in a pub in the centre of town, I was concerned about noise but, I needn’t have been, we weren’t disturbed at all. Perfect location, we used the Red Jet to get over to the Isle and it’s not even a ten minute walk to the pub. Very central and surrounded by eateries and supermarkets Would definitely recommend. Would stay again.

Very rustic and unmaintained. Service was good and friendly, but don't expect anything close to fine dining.

Gorgeous food, the vegetarian options were lovely! Quite expensive and loud inside, might be better on a lunchtime! Security were very good and effective when dealing with situations.

The food was very average. The steak was over cooked and tough to eat and stew was not tender and off poor quality sadly. The pub itself was lively and buy but food definitely let this visit down.

Had a lovely meal here. Food was really nice and staff were friendly. Prices were reasonable, portion sizes were good (there are 2 menus, main and snack so you can choose depending on how hungry you are) and food tasted really good. Had a hot dog which was great as not really something you find very often on menus. Very impressed.

Good pub. Very comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly and service was prompt. There is a little venue at the rear, where, it seems, that on the second Sunday of the month, there's a blues jam afternoon. I might even get my old start out of the cupboard, dust off the cobwebs and see if I can get a gig!

Been a long time since I've been in here, but it has everything. Live music in an out building enabling you to dine in quieter surroundings at the front where you can still hear yourself talk. Did is a good expect from a pub, but, it does have a few surprises. Plenty of friendly staff on hand to make sure your time is not spent waiting. Don't be put off by the security at the doors, they're there to remind Johnny English that it is for everyone and those that go over the top will go out the door.

We were moored up at Cowes Yacht Haven for a few nights and last night we wandered out in search of some good ale and pub food. We were not disappointed. Right across the gate to the marina there is this lovely pub. The bar staff were very friendly and attentive. The ale was great ( I was told), The meantime is the one worth the extra calories according to my husband. Food was fab and certainly worth a visit.

We stayed in the Anchor Inn for 3 nights, very disappointed with the room, it was so small, it looked like it was a room for a single person but they had squeezed another bed in, we could just about squeeze in to get in our beds, furniture and curtains very very old and marked/damaged, tv worked but very small and dvd bit broken and sticking out, windows were absolutely disgusting! Black mould on them, dust everywhere, it seems like it had been shut up since last summer and no one has been in to clean it since! Sadly we got woken up at 4.45-5 am every morning from the noise outside from deliveries so not ideal if you like to sleep in a bit! The staff we spoke to were very nice and helpful and the food was lovely, and very hot.

We left because we were cold ! Never done that anywhere before even during the energy crisis. Well theres a first time for everything . Security staff would not shut the doors saying bar staff asked for them to be left open. Bar Staff denied this ! Please get your act together and keep the place warm! People were leaving and commenting. Food fair value for money just sit somewhere warm on a cold day and enjoy the place

We wanted food on a monday evening in November and a lot of the restaurants inbcowes where closed. We found this great pub, that did food on the cowes High Street. The burgers are delicious, so is the beer. When the fire place is lit the pub is cosy and warm.

Good pub meal, nice menu, fair prices and quick service. Got quite busy before we left as it was Friday evening, but not a rowdy crowd. I'm not sure what was planned for later but as we exited, there were a couple private security people outside the door.

Very busy even though COVID restrictions were in place, We waited a short time for a table and were quite near the Stables area with a live band so it was very noisy and boisterous but we were happy with that! Interesting menu but felt a bit rushed as were told the kitchen closed at 9pm but the staff couldn't have been more helpful. I had poached salmon with prawns, very tasty. My friend's pie and chips looked a bit stodgy to me but maybe what you would want after a hard day sailing! Malteser cake with salted caramel ice cream was heavenly! Don't come here on a Friday night for a quiet romantic dinner. it is full on noisy, hectic and hyperactive but we really enjoyed it.

Found this pub in Cowes when over there for the night. There were lots of pubs which were quiet but this one was full of customers. We had a good meal here and I was impressed by the selection of beers and ales. Also there was live music but this was in a seperate bar so would not be an issue if you just wanted a quiet time. Overall just what a pub should be, service was very quick and the beer great. recommended

As someone who live to the rear of this bar I and many others have complained about the excessive noise, anti social behaviour, drunks flowing into the rear car park as if it part of the bar's property . They also use the car to park their vehicles as if their own yard without paying for a ticket. The children's slide and climbing area (if approved) is monitored from a distance! With all the anti social behaviour around this area the owners do nothing to help improve it; especially the noise polution this bar and it's clientele create! The "new. Management " promotion is a joke! Just the same anti social crowd! No respect for any neighbour even after the recent "noise complaint" raised with the council! Close the place as it should not have rear access / facilities within a residential area! Gives Ventnor a bad image!

Went here for Christmas dinner, sorry to say won't be back. Me and my wife both had prawn cocktail to start, it was probably the worst prawn cocktail I've ever had, packed with lettuce with a few rubbery prawns on top. I then had my beef dinner, it came with a bowl of Vegetables which were cold, not warm but cold, the only saving grace were the broccoli. My wife had a turkey dinner which she enjoyed, apart from veggies. To top all that, the cabaret we witnessed between staff and chef was very unprofessional, chef was effing and being at the top of his voice which everyone could hear. We didn't complain because I felt sorry for the only member of staff who was trying to do all jobs on his own, I give him 10/10. We live in Brighstone and desperately wanted this pub with new owners to succeed but this experience has put us off.
