We really enjoyed our food here. The calamari was absolutely delicious and my daughter said her salad was one of the best she has had. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend.

We went in here to avoid the rain, the building is very beautiful. The staff that served us were amazing, especially this one beared bloke, if only I knew his name. He was spectacular. We only had drinks, but have to come back for food.

Fanatic venure and staff, was a little quite on the day we went in but the staff are superb and the food was phenomenal. Will not only be going back but will be seeking out others from the chain when we visit new places!

From the outside you think it's a fancy restaurant in an old bank, which is basically what it is. In the evening, however, the place turned out to be more of a kind of bistro à la "bar celona" or "Extrablatt", both in terms of the food and the audience, which, as is typical for English people, was already staggering and hollering through the place at around 6 p.m. You don't have to.

Great venue, didn't eat. One small observation the female member of staff that served us was as miserable as sin, maybe her pet dog had died that morning 🤷‍♀️

Can get a bit crowded on Friday and Saturday evenings so best to book ahead. Can recommend the pies. Beer is good too. A calmer and higher quality pub than spoons but not much pricier.

I would highly recommend The Bank and the staff that work there. Nothing is too much of an ask, I have been in a number of occasions and they go above and beyond to be friendly, with exceptionally service. The general manager, with the beard, was fab and he knows his stuff on gins plus ales. All the team are here there and everywhere, not sure how they do it. Our food was delicious as always, the lunch deal for a sandwich and drink is probably the best in Manchester as its not only a generous sandwich but includes a side, I always have the chips and your drink too! Even when the team looked busy, with it being December, they were all smiles and quick service for the meals. We will definitely be coming back!

It was our Team Christmas lunch and our first visit to The Bank as a Team. We loved it. I organised the meal and from booking to paying of deposits to pre-ordering food, everything was well communicated and worked perfectly. 10 of us were booked in for lunch, the tables were nicely decorated and we were tucked away in a corner out of the way of the rest of the bar - which was lovely. The Bank team were so attentive, drinks ordered and brought quickly, gluten free meal explained and delivered with ease and all 3 courses of everyone's meal was delicious and well cooked. Everyone enjoyed the food and atmosphere and really appreciated how lovely the staff were. Thank you for making our Team Christmas lunch such a welcoming and delicious one - we will see you all soon

Bar staff very polite, kindly helped me back to the table with drinks. A little unexpected in a busy Manchester pub.

We called in to this pub yesterday to get out of the cold and have a drink and saw the menu for their famous pies. My husband had the beef shin and brisket pie with puff pastry mash potatoes and glazed carrots and he was blown away! Said it was so delicious and the best pie he’s ever had!!, so good he just had to let the staff know. I had the club sandwich and fries which was also delicious. For anyone who wants a really lovely meal in a lovely atmosphere and cosy feel then visit here. The staff were lovely and very attentive too. We’ll definitely be visiting again.

This was our first time visiting during our work break. It was a good experience from the moment we arrived. The building is beautiful, charming inside and out- really nice welcoming vibe. Staff were all really friendly and went out of their way to find us a bigger table as two more of us turned up. Menu has plenty to offer- perfect for lunch. Ordered chicken pie, steak pie, the burger and the fish and chips. The pies were excellent, although my friends burger looked anlet down from How it was described. Food was kinda slow coming out which was not ideal when on a lunch break. All in all a great venue in the city center which had a great buzz, perfect for that Friday feeling and getting ready to the weekend

This is an excellent Pub that is well located close to Piccadilly Gardens and we always have a great time there. It is a down to earth place with a relaxed yet buzzing atmosphere and in a very historic building as well. It takes both cash and card which is quite unusual these days and is a bonus if you prefer to pay by cash. We arrived early on a Thursday evening and the place was quite busy but we were served in a fast and friendly manner. The beers are well kept and about average for the city Centre prices. The pub is full of history and lots of interesting photographs and information About people in places in the area.

My wife had her retirement party here last Friday. It’s a great venue and all the staff were amazing, couldn’t do enough for us. Wonderful service and Niamh was especially good, she was bombarded with drinks orders but breezed through it. Thank you all.

Called in Monday 11th November 2024 for a meal and drinks before going to the Opera House. I had the Brisket and Steak Pie, veg and mash. It is the best steak pie I have ever had in a pub or restaurant. There was a good selection of ales and beers on draft. I was served by Sarah who was knowledgeable of the ales. Recommended. My review from 2018 Over the years I have included The Bank when around Manchester for a drink. I visited in December 2018 and sadly they only had 3 low volume real ales. Still a great place to visit.

Perfect atmosphere and friendly staff!

The whole atmosphere and experience was amazing, the staff were wonderfully helpful and kind to me and my friends and they were very understanding about my friends allergys, there wasn't anything that stood out to me that could be improved looking back on our visit

Had the rabbit pie. Was so and so. Not bad. The friends all had the burger and they loved it. My advice skip the rabbit pie and order the burger. Service was quick and the atmosphere was nice

This was my first time visiting the bank and i was not disappointed. This is a nicholson pub, so it is not a surprise i enjoyed my time there. We ordered calamari, and halloumi fries from the sides and bar snacks menus, and a beef brisket burger. 🧀 Halloumi fries - The halloumi fries were incredible. they were so chunky and cooked perfectly. They were garnished with watercress which complimented them very nicely. It was served with sweet chilli mayonnaise which was a lovely dip. 🦑 Calamari - This was very tasty. The bowl was filled to the brim with fired baby calamari, chillis, and spring onion, served with half a lemon and a sweet chilli sauce, this bar snack was wonderful. There was a lot of calamari, i could not finish it all (which is not a complaint). However, a few pieces were a little over cooked and burnt on the outside. 🍔 Beef brisket burger - WOW. This was incredible. the burger was so thick and topped with so much brisket. My one complaint would be that it did not have much salad in it, and the gherkin was served on top instead of inside. The chips were very nice and a fair amount were served. £17 may sounds steep for a burger, but i would say this is worth it. The atmosphere in here was lovely and the service was fast. It is a great place to grab a drink and/or have a meal. i will be returning.

This is a regular place for us in town and we always have a great time there. This particular visit a friend was down from Edinburgh so I took them in and they were very impressed indeed. The building itself is full of history and has been kept in excellent condition. It has a bustling but relaxed atmosphere and it seems to attract a more mature crowd. They have a great range of drinks at reasonable prices and you never have to wait long to get served. There is a sense of history all around and with it being so centrally located a visit is strongly recommended.

We've been coming to The Bank for years now, it's absolutely stellar for great classic English pub food and a pleasant sit-down drink. The food is always top notch and comes out really quickly, and the bar staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for a relaxed meal out! A+

the restaurant looks lovely nice atmosphere and the menu looked very promising however the smashed avocado with poached egg on sourdough toast was disappointing. The sourdough wasn't toasted sufficiently to melt butter the avocado was just plain sliced, not smashed or with any herbs etc in it and the poached egg was hard. Sadly not as appetising as hoped for and suggested by a lovely menu.

Nice staff. Far too noisy though for a meal. Ridiculous that you have to order drinks at the bar or on the app - they should be served as soon as you sit down if you are coming to dinner.

Great choice of non alcohol drinks and the food was delicious. The decor and atmosphere is so beautiful and welcoming. We found this lovely pub by accident but were delighted we did the staff were very friendly and a delight.

Great service today from Sarah, Neve and Maddie. Bit of a regular at The Bank. Mostly visit on football days. Breakfast was great. Just wish they showed the football. Stunning building but to be honest we go for the service. They were really busy this morning but still got served straight away.

Excellent serive at the bar, ordering and speed that the food arrived from ordering. Great taste of food. Will sure come back again.

We visited Friday the 16th August, been here before and enjoyed it. This time the food was even better! The sea bass was brilliant and good portions. The staff were attentive and very helpful. Can't wait til we visit again.

Called in for food yesterday. Had been before but now not as good, quality of food has gone diwn hill. Husband had wild boar pie, but there was hardly any filling & I had salmon fishcakes but the salmon was hard to find. The waitress collected our plates but never asked what we thought of the meal!! Very disappointing, won't be eating there again

I tend to go here 2-3 times a week for lunch with a colleague. The food is always fantastic but it's the staff that make this place my number 1 and why i won't go anywhere else. All the front of house staff I've ever spoken to have been brilliant. Friendly, welcoming, polite and you feel like nothing would be too much bother. Overall I can't fault this place and you know you'll get fantastic food and service every single time. I'd highly recommend the Nicholson burger and duck croquettes, my colleague has developed a mac n cheese with brisket addiction as well so I'd say that's a good shout as well!

Been here a few times over the years. For the first time the food was not a good as usual it all tasted and look a little rushed had booked a table so not as if we turned up to see if we could get a table and eat. Was a little disappointed on the food expecting better for the cost it was below average. Meat in pie was tough and swimming in gravy to that you also get extra in a jug. The chicken bites were smothered in diced chilli over the top yo say the least. Will return for drinks but will possibly not be eating.

English food and beer, if you love pies you are at the right place

Fantastic place to eat! Family of five two adults and 3 kids! Well hosted and served with quality cuisine over 20 years established!

We went as a family. I ordered by scanning the QR code at the table. We got up because there was no service even after 1 hour. It should be taught what service is.

Been here a few times now. Last night we decided to meet up with family for a few drinks and food. Barcstaff great and service great as always. The downside last night was the food. The food for the others was OK as it was snack food. I on the other hand had a pie as it was being well promoted within the pub. I opted for the Beef Shank pie this came with roasted carrots and mash and a small jug of gravy. When it arrived the pie has a large bone in the pastry top can only think to show the chef its a shank pie. The carrots had no taste and looked like they had been cremated. The meat in the pie had too many tough chewy pieces in and was swimming in gravy so there was no need for the additional jug. As for the other's in the party as I said has snack food of chicken coujons and chips they said chicken inside was OK but again the outer covering was hard and dry. You do get some dips to help soften the crunch so you don't shatter you teeth. There was also some spicy chicken strips again just like the coupons except there is sliced chillies over the top of the straps just sort of put on the top to add some heat but more than you would put in a curry at home. We will return as like the pub but will be giving food a miss much better and cheaper food around didnt think we got quantity or quality fot over £47.00.

The staff had reserved an alcove table for our group, which we appreciated. A good choice of dishes which we all enjoyed, my fish cakes were lovely, and the staff were polite and attentive.
