The Bank House in Cheltenham

It's a wetherspoons, you get what you expect! Cheap food, fine for what it is - decent selection of beers at a very good price, atmosphere is generally fine. Decor is busy and toilets are a bit of a trek, as expected to be fair! Can't park anywhere close as it's bang in the town centre.

Great place to stop and use the loo and keep warm while waiting for the 41 bus..... will be great pity when Mr Weatherspoon closes it...

Arrived today 19/12/24 for lunch. I wanted fish and chips but NO cod!! My brother in law wanted gammon and egg, NO eggs. Mde do with tikka masala from curry club. Rice no longer in dish just piled on plate, almost cold!! Tikka masala ok but again only Luke warm!! Went to gents, not particularly clean, one urinal full of urine, blocked. Cannot recommend this restaurant, a few unsavoury looking customers too. I suppose you get what you pay for!!

Busy Saturday night pub. I only had the 1 pint. Everyone was in good spirits.

A great town centre bar with good beers and good food. Also friendly polite and professional staff

A real melting pot of personalities, a very diverse crowd and colourful characters. Pints for under £2. We had breakfast here 2 mornings in a row and it perfectly satisfied our needs. It’s a great place to set up base camp before a long day at the racecourse. Cheap pints, cheap grub - what more can you want?

Ordered boneless chicken basket and only got 12 chips asked barman about it and got told that is it not impressed

Waited a very long time to get served. The bar person was on his own making cocktails. Meal came fairly quickly minus the extra sauce I had ordered. Without this the food was bland tasteless. When asked if everything was OK I said no and mentioned the sauce. The waiter said he would order it but it never arrived. I waited and my meal went cold so eventually ate it and finished it. The waiter did apologise and I believe it was not his fault. The fault was in the kitchen maybe and they weren't even that busy. Poor rating and I would not visit this place again in a hurry.

Not been here before, no issue will go again. Food/drinks ordered through the app comes faster than if ordered at the bar!

Alcohol and food served 7 days a week. Open until Midnight or 1am every night. Wi-Fi available and easily accessible. A cosy place. I prefer it when the upstairs section is open.

Employees are on social media during their “working” hours bragging about not doing anything and generalizing men as a gender who only understands anger and that if they acknowledge other emotions, then they are hysterical maniacs. Also openly giving out supervisors information, company information, and claiming that supervisors are spending their time supporting their social media confrontations. Sounds like a winning atmosphere! Didn’t even have to make it in to see how big of a trainwreck this place is. Your waitress would rather make condescending remarks on Facebook than serve you. Enjoy!

Got too say my experience was good I've been in for several days and the service received from bar member Georgie was second to none, very studios regarding people waiting, and extremely polite, enjoyable experience

Stopped in Cheltenham on the way to Westward Ho! Cheltenham races were on so very busy, but breakfast was served quickly and great quality for price.

Came ‘ere 3 times in 48 hour, must tell ye that it’s bloody lovleigh. Cracking kopparberg and an agreeable selection of spirits.

Certainly not the best Wetherspoons. The toilet area and furnishings certainly could do with a make over. Food was ok as expected from a Spoons I wouldnt rush back but the food filled a spot.

Remember that bag I carry around in case I've gotta go to Greggs? It comes in handy when I visit Wetherspoons. No one must see me entering or leaving. Thinking about it, I looked around and considered keeping the bag on for the duration of my visit. There's something very wrong when I go for breakfast, and the majority of peeps around me are quaffing a pint of lager. In mitigation for them, the food was okay, and I was impressed by "endless" refills of my decaffeinated latte. I'm gonna keep my bag handy in case I need another cheap (sorry, cost-effective) breakfast.

Tuesday 22nd October 2024 Today, this excellent weatherspoons was used to drink real ales in This pub was a spacious, clean, well staffed pub Staff were courteous, and most of all, there was a marvellous selection of grand hand pumped real ales on offer I was impressed by the real ales and the pub today

I used to come here quite a lot before I moved away from the area and I have to say its gone massively downhill in the few years between visits. To start with every single table was dirty. The tables were sticky and covered in old plates and drinks. There were a lot of empty tables so we expected to find at least one reasonable one. In the end we just shifted a bunch of dirty plate onto another table and I wiped it clean with an antibacterial wipe i had it my bag. We would have walked out right then if we weren't so pushed for time. The whole time we were sat there, not one member of staff cleared or wiped any tables. My partner ordered a burger whilst I ordered Hunters chicken. I bought a side dish of onion rings to share between us too and I have to say thank god I did or we would have left even more starving than we were. I placed the order via the app and my partner honestly thought I'd pranked him and ordered him a children's meal the portion was so tiny. I had to show him the receipt. The burger was miniscule and gone within two mouthfuls. There couldn't have been more than 10 chips on either of our plates. I'd think it was the chains standard size but I'd actually ordered the exact same meal a few weeks earlier in a branch near where I live and it was double in size. In fact I couldn't even finish that meal! That was even the reason why I ordered it again as I had enjoyed it so much previously, so to have this tiny sad excuse for a meal appear before us was very disappointing. Safe to say we won't bother going back to that branch again any time soon!

My husband, myself,my daughter & her friend visited The Bank house before attending the Cheltenham Wedding Fayre. We ordered on the app with ease & the food arrived promptly & was all hot & tasted delicious, especially the yummy rich gravy on the bangers & mash😋 Our whole meal cost less than £40 including drinks👍😋 The Duty Manager at the time Jack was particularly attentive & all the staff were cheerful & polite😁 We will return to try some more delicious meals on the menu, including some new ones😋

Rude staff. Waited an hour for a breakfast to be told in a very passive aggressive tone. "The food comes as it comes. Your not the only one eating you know"!

Just popped in for a breakfast and it was absolutely shocking, people sending their food back frozen hash browns etc, I asked if my toast could be toasted X3 times and each time it came back as the same soggy white bread. Waited 30 minutes for 3 breakfasts which were not the best. The lady behind us sent her breakfast back 3 times and like the so called toast I'd asked for, the same breakfast came back to her table just in a different hand. The coffee from the machine was warm not hot so the next drink I got was a hot chocolate and again that was warm. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a wetherspoon and we won't be going back and can't recommend this eatery.🥺☹️☹️☹️

Cheap drinks, cheap food. What's not to love

I dont know what is happening within the one restaurant for the past 4/5 weeks. But the food is cold by the time it arrives. A lot of the menu is not available at all. Food preparation is off!! Fresh food is not looking fresh at all!! Some staff members do not even know how I am to complain or who to.

For those that know spoons this is no different to all the others in terms of food, drink and service. The interior is much larger than anticipated from the outside. There are a number of different seating 'areas'. The general impression was one of it being clean and tidy, an above average spoons in terms of state of decor, carpets, toilets, etc. Had table service twice - first waitress was friendly and polite; second waiter simply plonked down the food and said in a gruff voice without a smile "there you are" or something very similar. But you can't really judge an entire spoons service on one visit. As ever, very competitive prices, especially the self-service free refill hot drinks.

had breakfast here a couple of times, food was lovely but both times I went in staff finished serving people drinks then walked off for around 5 minutes before serving me, a little annoyed by this as I was on break from work so had to rush eating my food.

Shocking service, ignored by staff.. waited *15 minutes with no queue.. avoid as unwelcoming. Regulars were also being ignored

This is one of the best 'spoons I've had the pleasure of using. I've only ever tried the curry night offerings but the food is excellent value. Can get a little busy but there is a spacious upstairs section usually open. The staff are efficient, engaging and courteous. A good range of bears at a ridiculously low price. Great experience all round!

I went in for a refillable coffee which didn't disappoint.

Firstly, the scenery of this Wetherspoons is very nice. However, the food was horrendous! I had a burger which arrived with cold sauce, the chicken was dry and also the chips were hardly even warm. My partner had an all day breakfast type of meal which was awful, his food was also warm at best. On reflection, we should have sent the meals back to be cooked for fresh but we were quite hungry so just wanted something to eat. Partly our mistake but also, this Wetherspoons isn’t great by any means.

Rough.....they could do with employing someone to clear and wipe down tables. Toilets were not inviting at all.

The food came out fast and drinks came to the table fast. The staff were accommodating and very nice. The toilets however are very far away especially if you’re sitting upstairs.

Awful service, very slow to get drinks. Had trouble finding a seat because most tables were loaded up with dirty plates and glasses. Decided not to eat due to wait time and lots of food appeared to be being sent back. A significant difference to the other Spoons in town.

Town centre location with easy access to public transport makes this an obvious first stop for your night on the town. Often the only stop as the JDW pricing model guarantees excellent bang for your buck. It is very much the regulation ‘Spoons’ experience - what you see is what you get. Cask ales unerringly hit the mark and you pretty much know what to expect with the food in any outlet. As for the atmosphere, make your own mind up. Downstairs toilets are a bit of an ‘inconvenience’ especially if dining on the upper level. It’s gotta be done!

Disgusting, came in on a Friday for a couple drinks. Upstairs must have had 30 people's meals not cleaned away for over an hour, customers were just piling the plates on vacant tables to create space to sit down.

Met Jeff ex work colleague at the Bank House, on Wednesday, had a drink (Hot Chocolate) & a bite to eat. Staff were all very friendly & helpful, it was very busy.

Absolutely amazing staff, the waiter called me "sir" which made me feel very royal. My breakfast I had was amazing, everything was perfect nothing too hot to burn your mouth and not cold either everything was the best of the best. The atmosphere is also amazing, as weatherspoons keep the original building intact so every spoons has a different feel and look to them, this specific location is an old bank and they've kept that theme amazingly.

I love a spoons, This one is fairly large, has a nice upstairs area with comfy chairs. The Mexican spicy rice is my go-to when ordering sides. I'm under no illusion that it's from a microwave and looks like the chef didn't bother to try and even hide the fact the rice was plomped out of a bag. The first bite is with the eye 😄

This place is always busy due to the price of drinks but definitely not the service. The food is good enough for the price but if you want to order food or drinks, use the Wetherspoons App, the bar staff are awful, slow and have no idea of who should be served next, this can cause some awkward situations when next in line!

Work early in morning cleaning get up 2am every time I go in almost Gemma his cleaning pipes on thatchers and other drinks as lots of jugs of water in front why does she or someone clean them late at night or 8am when they are in not on also miserableperson Gemma and some others poor spoons others don't clean pipes then so afto order bottled bear not what I want bad also tables not cleared dirty

Super busy on the weekend. Tables are very limited. Managed to find a table and we have to clean it ourselves. Food and drinks was served pretty fast overall.

The bank house has the most welcoming staff working there, the best service. The best BBQ panini and Southernfried chicken chipotle wraps! Jack and Jake who served me multiple times were pleasant and so friendly. The wait times are quick and the new Ramen was like I was in Shinjuku again!
