Honestly, what a place, what’s not to like? The service is impeccable and I mean impeccable. The staff are all so well aligned in terms of customer experience and they are exemplary, each and every one of them. The food, as you can tell from my pictures, speaks for itself. Absolutely divine, high quality flavour and michelin star-esque. I rarely leave a restaurant genuinely happy but I have today and I can tell you now I’ll be back many a time. I’m not being hyperbolic in stating the fact that I truly believe this is one of the best gastropubs in the UK, and trust me I’ve been to many! Well done to all and thank you again for an amazing evening.

Service was slow but the food was amazing. Once ordered the food came quickly and was exceptional however they seemed light on staff.

Very nice pub. Great atmosphere, pleasant staff. Fast efficient service. Lovely food, all fairly priced. My only moan is about a problem that can't really be solved. On busy days, parking can be a gamble. I had to park blocking someone in. There was nowhere else. But the manager let me know as soon as someone left and a space became vacant. But all in all it was a nice experience, and we'll go again.

My friends and I visited the Victoria last sunday as we were hoping to get a nice sunday roast. We were really happy with it, It was delicious! We moved to the bar after our meal and the gentleman at the bar made some new cocktails for us! We felt very well looked after from the beginning to the end! We will be back.

Impeccable service and superb food! Our time at The Victoria was just fabulous. The venue is very elegant but still cozy and welcoming. The staff is friendly and approachable, whilst still providing the highest quality of service. The food was simply delightful, from the starters (we loved the crispy olives stuffed with manchego), to the desserts. We’re looking forward to visiting again and trying their Sunday Roast!

Wife and I went here on a Sunday for a roast around 3pm. They were fully booked but they made space for us as someone was just leaving. A good sign when all the tables are occupied. we got two roast dinners (Beef and Lamb) - great quality meat and the trimmings. Very tasty and meat was cooked to perfection, as were the vegetables. We also got a garlic/cabbage side which was really good. Shared a desert - sticky toffee pudding. Did not disappoint. All good sized portions, tasty food and great service from all the team. Friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

A lovely atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. As a gluten free vegitarian Sahin was knowledgeable and helpful to ensure I enjoyed my meal. The Bear is an excellent place to eat if you are unable to eat gluten.

I've been to The Victoria before and really enjoyed it. It's also in the Michelin Bib-Gourmand list. So when my friend was in town, we decided to start our culinary weekend here. Service was excellent. Some fantastic ideas with the dishes. We started with Crispy Olives stuffed with Manchego and Battered Oysters served with Seaweed Mayonnaise. Both these dishes are so good and bursting with a flavour combination I have not had before. We were off to a good start. Then the mains came. My friend had Sladesdown Farm Duck, Pommes Anna, Beetroot, Pickled Blackberries, Lentil Dressing which he said was good. I had the Battered Haddock, Triple Cooked Chips, Crushed Peas, Tartar Sauce - effectively fish and chips. I have had this before about two years ago and really enjoyed it. This time, though. Urgh, absolutely terrible. It was 90% batter and the fish flaked which is a sign of not being fresh. I ate the chips and left a pile of batter on my plate. So a three star rating. For a Bib Gourmand it was disappointing. Would I return? This was technically a return, but I will not be going again.

We celebrated our 10 wedding anniversary here very recently. On entering, the restaurant was warm and cosy with a cheery fire that was being maintained throughout our stay. The restaurant is nicely furnished and the tables are really well located, so you are not sitting on top of other patrons. We were lucky enough to be there for a night they had live acoustic guitar music, which drifted over to the restaurant at a soothing volume. The service was absolutely impeccable and everyone we encountered gave off the vibe that they genuinely wanted to help you fully enjoy your experience. The food was incredible. We started with the sourdough, them my husband chose the Pollock whilst I had Duck. Both dishes tasted sensational and were really well balanced, as my Duck had such a lovely sweetness from supporting blackberries. We highly recommend the side course of garlic cabbage with crispy seaweed - so delicious! For dessert we had Apple Crumble and a Brown Sugar Tartlet. Both tasted excellent. One of the high points of the evening however was being presented with a gifted dessert and congratulations to our wedding anniversary - such a sweet and lovely gesture! Will definitely be back again. The menu was just perfect for a chilly autumnual night and we are now thinking that this could at the very least be a yearly anniversary treat!

Lovely pub, open fire and friendly staff. Also dog friendly. Food just lacks the finishing touches. Had mushroom on toast but clearly using yesterday’s bread. It was so hard and stale. The mushrooms were very tasty. Crab pate starter was bland. Pork belly ok but it wasn’t crispy. The mushroom wellington was very nice but the roast potatoes were awful. Stone cold, had clearly been cooked hours ago. And gone cold then mildly reheated. So they were rubbery and stodgy. They were definitely past their best. There were 4 roasts and no one ate the potatoes. It’s a roast, so roast potatoes would be a basic part that isn’t that hard to get right. Service was slow once we had our mains. Would be great to have more vegi options as without the eellington on a Sunday it’s pretty limited, most of the vegi menu is vegan. Desserts: Sticky toffee pudding was lovely. Brownie was ok, but came with chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla as advertised.

Fantastic meal. Lovely ambiance. Both couples had sharers (the pie and the lamb) - absolutely delicious. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Couldn’t ask for more! Will recommend and come again.

Appalling service. My friend and I were travelling home from the Channel Tunnel to the Midlands. We stopped for some lunch to break the journey. It took 15 minutes before our presence was even acknowledged. The poor barman was on his own and having to serve all the drinks for the bar customers, the restaurant and take food orders. We eventually got to order our food and waited. The pub did not look overly busy as this was past the usual lunchtime rush. One lady had been waiting to order just a bowl of chips for ages. After another 30 minutes we chased up where our order was. The barman willingly went to ask the chef, and the reply was that he could not tell us when our food would be ready! We then decided to cancel the order, having wasted 45 mins of valuable travelling time. The deputy manager came. He looked like he had just got out of bed!! We had to ask him for a refund - no apology for the inconvenience caused - nothing. We told him we were pretty unimpressed with the service. It might have been nice to have had an apology or explanation and to have offered to refund us the money for the two soft drinks we had as a gesture! A very poorly managed pub with clearly low staff morale. A very poorly managed pub in my opinion. Don’t go there unless you have all day to wait!

Delicious food and fantastic service at the Victoria Oxshott. Definitely opt for the mushroom parfait and oysters to start. The steak was fantastic and sourced from the Surrey Hills butchery next door. It had a charcoal bbq flavour and was just divine. The desserts of 'marathon bar' and b+b pudding were outrageously good. They do local ale from Surrey Hills brewery (shere drop) on tap and have great wines also. Service was also impeccable; speedy, friendly and helpful, without being overly intrusive. Highly recommended for one of the best pub restaurants in Surrey. Thanks so much for a lovely evening.

I celebrated my birthday with my family at the Bear, Oxshott and was so glad that I did. Tom was so helpful and encouraging when I booked the table and explained very clearly how to use the prebooking system, which turned out to be very easy ! On the day the team were all so happy and friendly and very welcoming. Special thanks to Sophie, Jemima and Iryna who were amazing and looked after us all so well. A final thankyou to the kitchen staff, fabulous food, great Sunday roasts ! A superb experience, would love to do it every Sunday if I could🤗

Four of us had lunch. First visit. Food was nice and freshly prepared/cooked. Service was just as good - welcoming, friendly, professional. It's also an attractive venue, nice decor with a lots of seating, indoors and outdoors.

We visited The Victoria for the second Taste of Oxshott evening which was just outstanding. Beautiful wines were paired with each dish and, as ever, Head Chef Dan created the most delicious and beautiful courses. There were so many highlights, the local ingredients were brought to life and each dish bursting with flavour.

Great friendly service. Food was awesome. Good old traditional English ambiance.

Enjoyed a lovely family and friends dinner here. Food was delicious, service impeccable, and was seated in a quiet area overlooking the backyard for our table of 5 adults and 2 children.

The best ham, egg and chips I have ever had and my husband’s skate was really good too. The desserts are imaginative and delicious.

The service here is fabulous and the pub garden has a wonderful atmosphere. I have added photos and purposely avoided the busy areas, and it was quite busy. They are great with dogs too. The food was very nice, everything was lovely but the prices are very very expensive for what is essentially a local pub with no parking. I had haddock and chips £24.

Overrated and overpriced and if you want some nibbles with your drinks don’t go for the chips as you only get six for £8 if you want a good pub with good atmosphere and great portion of food I would suggest the plough in Oxshott. Night and day over this pub.

Open log fire on a chilly damp Bank Holiday Monday, attentive service and good English fare cooked to perfection. Great experience all round. We'll be back.

Cold food served initially, without apology It might be gourmet but tiny portions are not acceptable 10 Chips (fried sliced potatoes) at £8 is a joke. Never again

Overall: I'm afraid I wouldn't go again because I didn't taste a reason to. And this was a treat for an out of town friend. Boo! Food: had lamb and pork roast. Pork was good and soft. The lamb, sadly my choice, was not to my taste. I love a soft lamb with no stringy-ness and soft fat...where there was meat, it was soft but it was surrounded by fat and stringy stuff that I couldn't enjoy the meat because it was chewy. I tasted something burnt in my veg, but the spread you get was a great portion size, it's just such a shame you get a tiny meat portion and what was there wasn't great. Beverage: tea in a pot. Coffee were great. Staff: silver service was fab and v friendly. Service: spot on Dogs: didn't ask, didn't bring her Atmosphere: cosy pub but really nice decor Price: £160-ish for 3 people having 2 hot beverages, mocktail and 2 bottles of still (Our taste buds: Western minds, Eastern hearts and stomachs!)

A tired dated looking pub. Very quiet on a Friday night (which suited us!) The menu was not very inspiring. The “Burnt” spring onion option put some off. (Why not charred). Pub manger was very helpful and obliging. Junior staff less so. We all opted for safe option of burger or fish and chips. Burger was good. Chunky chips with fish were under cooked. Perhaps the last step in triple cooking was skipped.

The service is really friendly and the food was excellent. A very nice selection of food on the menu and reasonably priced.

Had a lovely meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Only dissatisfaction was, we had to order our grandson a meal that was not on the children's menu. He is autistic and issues with food. We orderd a sausage and peas. They were helpful in substituting a different meal for him. But we had to pay adult menu price for the sausage and peas. We have to do this quite a lot at pubs, and have always paid the children's price, for a different meal but children's portion.

Unfortunately the food just wasn’t up to scratch. Two of us ordered the same thing (sole) and neither of us enjoyed it. Far too many bones. I eat a lot of fish and have never been served fish like this.

Lovely food and fantastically looked after by Christian. Table of 7 on a busy Easter Sunday but this was no bother for them. Thank you and keep up the great hospitality!!

We enjoyed a really good Sunday lunch during the weekend of the M25 closure! Service was friendly and attentive (thanks Helena and the very efficient team at The Bear). I thought the eating areas were comfortable and smart but cosy. The food was excellent - pork belly roast especially good. Children’s meals very good value and generously proportioned. Decent coffee too! We didn’t partake on this occasion but the wine list looked really varied and of quality.

Can't praise them highly enough. We were a party of 12 gathered together for a family lunch on a Sunday, and in spite of them being very busy we were looked after really well. Christian and his staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very welcome and the food was excellent. The Bear is one of my favourite out-of-town venues for meeting friends and family.

Came for Mother’s Day. Service was faultless, lovely waiters, food came out fast (maybe could’ve waited a beat so it didn’t seem so quick) but food was good, well presented and Mum was pleased! Tasty piqpoul, sausages were great, and mums fish and chips were crispy and delish!

Fantastic food and amazing service, Michelin Star Food in Surrey! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A little perplexed by some of the reviews here. After reading the reviews we were in two minds but glad we went. Highly recommend this amazing pub/restaurant. We dined again here for lunch and The Victoria did not disappoint again. From the service to the food, the whole experience was exceptional. We genuinely felt the team went the extra mile. We were celebrating an engagement and the staff went out their way in celebrating with us. For some of us visiting a restaurant in the Surrey/Oxshott area that has extremely top standards and fantastic food on our doorstep is a massive bonus. We really don't often feel the need to leave reviews, but in contrast, the occasional dismissive reviews questioning the value or quality of the dishes is a little discerning. We found such criticisms to be unfounded. There are plenty of alternative "boozers"with pub grub within a driving range of Oxshott. If you're looking for a really good experience with high quality ingredients The Victoria Surrey pub/restaurant ticks all the boxes. The decor and atmosphere are kept to a high standard. The restaurants meticulous attention and the atmosphere further enhanced our dining ambiance. If you're accustomed to consuming a voracious diet perhaps on a discounted price this place isn't for you. If like us you're in search of a really nice spot in Surrey to dine in - The Victoria is it.

Visited The Victoria for dinner with friends last night for the first time, after hearing that a Head Chef I liked elsewhere, had joined the 'Victoria team'. Despite being told it was quiet on Thursdays, the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and didn't feel quiet at all. The decor is beautiful and open fire a nice touch on a cold evening. Extensive drinks menu and great selection on both the a la carte and bar menus. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the food was brilliant! Will definitely go back; perhaps in the summer when the garden is open.

I will never be able to order sticky toffee pudding after this. I just know I will never have one that is as nice again! The staff were wonderful and the food was out of this world... the quality is on a par with any of the Tom Kerridge restaurants we have eaten at...

The Bear organised a family wake. It was simple to organise and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend.

Exceptional food, poor service. I cannot fault the food, it was fantastic, definitely fine dining. If I was to be picky, I would say there was too long a wait between courses, but the actual food was faultless. A proper fine dining restaurant needs to have both excellent food and service, and this is where the experience fell well short. The service was awful. We were sitting right in the mix so not stuck away in a corner but still became forgotten about. It was apparent from observation that the waiting staff were concentrating on a few large tables at the expense of others which is very poor, all tables should be handled the same, although I appreciate the temptation to do this given the increased service charge they can get. Also, a few of the waiting staff were clearly wandering around aimlessly doing nothing, avoiding eye contact with their customers. A few drinks orders never arrived and they messed up the food order initially. As an aside, we struggled to hear each other at times as the restaurant / music was so loud and we were essentially shouting to each other across a small table. Either that, or we all need hearing aids. Not ideal, hence it does not get full stars for atmosphere. I would not go back, and although I would recommend it to friends it would come with the caveat to be prepared for long waits and poor service generally. Maybe the food makes it worth at least one visit. It would never get a Michelin star based on current all round service.

Never disappointed at The Victoria, regularly visited for the bar and lovely gardens but dined for the first time this weekend and wow. Will be back for sure, the food blew us away - especially the desserts.

If you are thinking of going here please don’t go. Service is terrible and we were very disappointed and dissatisfied. Table was booked to celebrate friends 50 th birthday - party of 8. We had called in advance to inform them of our dietary requirements. On the day the waiter came to our table and asked us to confirm our dietary requirements. We had 4 vegetarians - and the rest were either GF or GF and dairy free. To keep things simple the vegetarians were sat at one half of the table and the rest on the other half. We ordered bread and spread to start with. Waiter confirmed the GF bread and put it to one side . They put the normal bread and spread on my side where the vegetarians were sat. After trying it we realised something wasn’t right. The spread contained a BEEF ingredient/ dripping. Unfortunately all 4 of us who have been life long vegetarians had eaten some of it. Waiter was not phased by it at all. After that it went down hill. Food was being put in front of us but the waitress had no idea if it was GF or DF. She had to keep going to the kitchen to check. Food very bland and tasteless. I had the aubergine. Portions small. We asked to speak to the manager but she didn’t come and speak to us. Service poor, food substandard, staff had no clue what they were doing. We paid over £400 for the meal. Came away dissatisfied and disappointed. I am not sure how they have ever had any decent reviews.

Unfortunately this visit to The Bear did not go well. There were long delays, confusion over drink and food orders ....... However, when we raised our concerns the staff were good and recognised there had been a number of issues and gave us complimentary desserts and coffees

We honestly only came for a quick drink after work, and ended up staying for Dinner! Mostly because the atmosphere was so welcoming and the service from was so friendly and professional. Drinks not too unreasonably priced for the area, and the food is great. Menu has all the usual suspects done very well, and some finer numbers to (confit duck leg tempting but I went for the burger which was stacked and filling as well as tasty. My Partner had Fish n Chips which looked and tasted the part perfectly) all in all a thoroughly nice evening.

Lovely gastro pub close to Oxshott station and Woods, both ideal for a dog walk. The pub offers a friendly and inviting space but is expensive so more of a treat than a drop in for a bite to eat. The kitchen was closed when we arrived but not sure we would have stayed for a late lunch due to the prices being charged and the fact we were after a simple quick bite and a drink. Paid £17.50 for a pint, bottle of coke, bag of crisps and bowl of nuts.
