The Beast Of Brixton in Lambeth

Great to see local up and coming music talent being supported by this fantastic cafe bar. Dropped by last night and saw a local group, Gliss (brilliant laid back jazz/soul), a local signer/guitarist (apologies I didn’t catch his name) and a set by Brixton radio. The atmosphere is really warm, welcoming and supportive and the staff are fabulous! Great to see such a cool place coming back to life after the last 18 months! I think the events are every second Thursday and thoroughly recommend them for a great evening!

Went for a Sunday roast after hearing good things. Service was excellent and the food was banging. I'd say I was uncomfortablly full... But in a good way. Finished the roast and asked for the bill. They'd forgotten to add the last round of beers onto the bill so we flipped a coin as two of us wanted to tell them and two didn't. Coin landed in favour of the Beast. Told the chap and he was so nice and rewarded us with a shot of brandy for our honesty. Even outside of the free shot i'd defo recommend and will come again.

popped in randomly one day as one of us was looking for somewhere that served vegan and gluten-free food. As the the lady at the bar explained to us that, whilst they had vegan options, they didn't yet have vegan and gluten free, a gentleman from behind the bar (Andy) suddenly came out with a beautiful plate of food telling us he was putting together a menu that would actually accommodate our exact request and offered the plate to us to give him our feedback. It contained the most delicious vegan feta and gluten free crackers we've ever had but also the most creative vegan "ham" that he had made himself from rice paper! Infused with liquid smoke among other things. The whole thing was garnished with beautiful edible flowers. We cant believe we we forgot to take a picture but we were just so taken back by the incredible act of generosity and the unbelievablely fortunate timing and coincidence of the whole situation. We then asked to order a plate of the same again but were told that they had literally just put that one plate together as a sample which we were lucky enough to come in at the time and be offered. We were told that they were be planning to put together gf and vegan menu options in the coming weeks and refused to take payment for the plate of food. It is rare to find such genuine people and we will definitely be coming back soon once they have these items on their menu.

The drinks, atmosphere and staff were amazing. Would definitely go back again, had a lovely time - thank you to the BEAST team❤️!!
