Peppered prawns were too soggy and chilli wings tasted like the chicken had been left out too long but overall flavours were okay

Be aware that rice is separate from the meat, but big portions, huge flavours. First Caribbean spot that I enjoyed everything.

I ate at the Big Taste Brixton a couple of times whilst in Brixton and the food was really good, the menu is a little limited but I managed to find something different both times. The service is quick and the owners are friendly and helpful and I managed to find a table on both visits. The Big Taste is very reasonably priced and again, the food was very tasty and the portion sizes are very generous. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommended this place if you are in the area.

My go to for ackee and salt fish; perfectly, fluff and seasoned with body. The dumplin is always perfectly made, sweet and a good size, a perfect contrast in flavour with sweet and salt. I do wish the L size ackee and salt fish was actually filled to the rim as it looked more like an S and it’s £8 now! That being said, always return for it due to flavour and taste.

The food is great! I’ve been to my fair share of Caribbean restaurants in London and this one tastes like it was cooked at home on a Sunday! 10/10! Portion size is also leagues above many other restaurants. I will be regular customer

The worst burger i’ve had, jerk burger with no salad, bun weren’t toasted, the chicken weren’t jerked either, it was lazy and underwhelming as their customer service! Wouldn’t recommend! I hate being dissatisfied as a Caribbean myself I expect better! Shops need to encourage feedback so they can do better!

Lord bless the people of this take away. Let me tell ya. I ordered from 3 or 4 different Jamaican takeaway in the area and this one served good food. The chicken soup tasted fresh. Keep on serving fresh food to the people and Lord bless ya tenfold/100fold.

I ordered the peppered shrimp and the sweet chili wings. 10 out of 10 chefs kiss. The shrimp sauce was so good I could drink it. I licked all ten fingers the way how tasty the food was. I will definitely be ordering again.

Rice and peas was really good. Mac & Cheese was not nice - mushy penne pasta in a BLAND cheese sauce burnt crust but not a nice burnt. I wouldn’t recommend the mac and cheese at all.

All very nice, bread was fresh only thing id say is the ackee and saltfish was quite oily but i guess it usually is and the plantain tasted amazing best plantain ive had in a long time.

Always missing items when you order on Uber, and when you call the restaurant they say the drivers have stole, but that’s not true, the delivery bag is always tied up perfectly. Also, I order from other places and this is the only place that has this issue. Been a customer for about 4 years and sadly the place has just gone downhill.

Do not order from these people , actually go there and see what you’re getting , I order a large oxtail and they literally just sent me oxtail with no rice , like what ? 12 pound for a small sized looking portion of oil and small meat

I ordered a pepper steak meal and received a large amount of meat and no rice. Seeing this as a mistake I called the restaurant and was hung up on by the owner. This is very disappointing as I’ve been a customer for years and ate in many times. Truly disappointed

When a friend introduced me to the Big Taste, it was the first Jamaican cafe I'd experienced and it has become a big favourite for Jamaican food (Caribbean food). They don't offer a wide range of dishes, but for those on offer the quality of the food is reminiscent of that food made with love by a granny. It's so nice to be able to get a meal with hard food and not only have rice & peas as an typical side option. The food is popular with many locals who will gladly grab a patty at the least, which is a staple snack food with a nice flakey crust and good filling that will have you feeling almost like you got the patty straight from Jamaica. This place keeps it real and doesn't dilute the cuisine for those that can't handle a little spice and heat in food. Big up to Hamza and fam, continuing to deliver a big taste to the people of Brixton and South London! 👊🏾😃🇯🇲

I came here today at lunch time after my colleague noticed a long queue outside it one time when he drove passed. You only get long queue’s at food shops that do good food! Upon arrival, I didn’t expect to have as much as they did on the menu. Most good places don’t have a large selection on their menu. I ordered, and expected to pay before sitting down (as it was my first time here). From my experience, I’d my face is not recognised by the person serving me, they tend to charge before serving the order. The gentleman that served me (I’m assuming was the owner) started getting my food ready. I sat down as it wasn’t ready there and then, and the gentleman just gave me the food and told me to enjoy it. The fist and last bite of my oxtail with rice and pease was just as good as each other. Sometimes the food tastes really good in the beginning because of your hunger, but you taste what it’s really like when your hunger dies down. This food was absolutely amazing! My colleague ordered a fish dish and he was also thrown back at how good it was. I would most definitely be looking forward to my next visit!

Delicious plantain! Not sure what the standard is for jamaican food here, but I’m carribean myself & have eaten the cuisine at many American places. That said, the food is solid. They had a lot of juice options so that was nice. Food is not made to order but still pretty good. Think it’s a nice pick if you’re in the area and hungry, but I probably will search for better in London.

Absolutely love this take away the family who owns it are so lovely to chat too and the food is amazing . Especially the dumplings they are out of this world , I will definitely be ordering food from there again

Best caribbean takeaway food that I have had!

Not Jamaicans in there at all, clearly the food dun cook over night and left in the counter, jerk chicken burger was a fried burger with batter and the liberty they got uncooked marinate and rub it on the burger, an absolute disgrace and no representation of Jamaica, my family r from Black River and dis food never again 7 thumbs down, Duchees is authentic not this place waste of money meal with no drink either, but the Asian man serving was kind.

Good halal food and a family business

Oxtail, curry goat, rice and peas, the patties, coleslaw! All of it bangs!!! Accessibility wise I recommend takeaway.. the food is alway stellar and I really appreciate the family feeling that permeates through the restaurant. Give big taste a big go!

Plantain was very soggy and greasy

Ordered because I read reviews on Deliveroo and on Google. However, I felt that my food did not live up to the reviews and expectations I had. Good sized portions, however food has excess oil in it which ruined it for me. Some items were ok such as Mac and cheese and patty and cocoa bread and peppered steak. Curry Goat and oxtail had too much oil.

The Asian women at the front is not welcoming at all. I came in said hi was ignored. She carried on doing what she was doing. Came to be after 6 minutes. She needs customer service training or someone replace her at the front because you at the front to take orders and give somewhat a good experience in your shop especially if when I was a new customer. I told her I wanted my cakes extra warm, she didn’t even warm it up at all. How disrespectful! I would give a 0 star if I could avoid this place guys!

The best! Honestly can’t recommend this enough. Everything is so tasty and even delivered it’s always warm :) eaten here a few times and gets better every-time. Best Caribbean in the area for sure :)

I wonder how much extra for a side of rice and a drink. Sleazy. Who ever pays so much just for some chicken? Robbery. Dont order or buy there. Other places cheaper and include some rice at least. Utterly disgusted.

I’m not one to try new things but I tried Oxtail for the first time at The Big Taste and I can honestly say, it’s one of the best dishes I’ve ever had in my life. Their quality of the food is just as amazing as their service and their cheesy beef patty is undefeated! I’d recommend this place to absolutely anyone, they have so much to offer! If you love good food, you’ll love The Big Taste Brixton! (Which will hopefully one day have an expansion in west London! The Big Taste W.LDN soon come yeah?) But hands down one of the nicest places I’ve been to! If you’re heading there, definitely try their Oxtail, BBQ wings and cheesy beef patty, you won’t be disappointed!
