Always a delight to visit our Local Pub - The Boathouse. Everyone is super nice, friendly and welcoming. The new menu dishes are great to try. Highly recommended.

Steak had to much grisle for my liking

We had our wedding reception here on the 17/8/24 The food and the service were second to none. From.the minute we made.our reservation nothing was to much trouble. We will definitely be going back We have absolutely no problem recommending this restaurant

Disappointing. Waited 20 minutes to order after being seated, eventually managed to get somebody's attention. Ordered something we've had before but asked if we could have the cream sauce without mushrooms. Item came covered in a peppercorn sauce instead without being asked whether or not that was okay. The person who ordered the item hates peppercorn sauce almost as much as they hate mushrooms. The staff member who came to check on us initially tried to tell us it was the same sauce as usual without the mushrooms, which it definitely wasn't. In fairness, they did eventually offer to replace but at that point, we'd already swapped meals and waiting another 20 minutes for a new one (because the service already wasn't exactly at its fastest, thanks partly to the birthday parties they had in and partly because there were usually two or three staff members hanging about by the pass not doing a lot) would have been a waste of everybody's time. Bad night at the office but for the prices they charge, used to a lot better from them.

Very very pleasantly surprised Popped in because we were very hungry and had a Sunday roast. Wow, firstly the service is spot on. Everyone so attentive and ready to please. Food was lovely and I never assume I can have a desert as a Dairy Free person but I was wrong. The Cheescake and vegan ice cream was delicious!!! We were served mostly by Adele and she was 10/10 What a great experience. Thank you.

I won't for breakfast this morning with my friend and I ordered one breakfast and because my friend is gluten-free we ordered another breakfast that came without sausages without black pudding and that breakfast was exactly the same price as mine which I find astonishing. My sausages were absolutely appalling a nice spoke to the manageress regarding this and she replied very glibly !!! Sorry about that !!! I was no offer of appeasement or any concern about my complaint

My partner and l have been going to the boat house regularly for some years and never had a bad meal,unfortunately we booked a table for two for my birthday treat I ordered fish and chips my partner pork medallions,my fish was a little late the chef brought it out,after a few mouthfuls I realised the batter soft and heavy I couldn't eat it.this was the first time I have complained they didn't charge me for my meal,but took the shine off my celebration Not sure if they changed chefs but the sauce on my partner meal was a little bland and pork slightly overdone Shame l always looked forward to our meals there The menu has never changed in years limiting choice no specials board anymore surroundings still very pleasant service very good will try again in future

It was a busy Sunday, and parking was somewhat difficult. We had to wait a few minutes for our table, which we had booked but not too much of a problem. We had a very nice table overlooking Sale water park. The food and service were all good.

Was here today for a family gathering. We got a private corner in the restaurant with a fantastic view of the lake and great seating area all sat together in a nice long line of the tables. The staff serving us was excellent 👌 & the chosen meals that each of us chose was hot & very well prepared. Very warm & friendly staff throughout our stay at the Boat House 🏠 well recommend anyone coming here! Brilliant ❤️ Excellent service throughout!

Food was good but for this level of service, I am not going again. We went as a group of friends and waited 40mins until we had to call someone to come see us. We were left at the table unattended by anyone. Then we ordered dessert and waited another 49min . When we asked where the desserts were, we were told the order didn't go through so had to reorder everything again. Totally unacceptable for the prices and level they claim to be at. Once dessert was eaten, another wait again for someone to come to us. We asked 3 times before someone came with the bill. They can be busy but this level of service is appalling. And did I mention the front of desk guy is totally miserable and cold. No friendly chat or welcome . There are better places out there guys, do not bother. Never going back again and refused to pay the optional service charge .

Visited for lunch for the first time,relaxed atmosphere.Food really fresh and not.did nit wait long for our food,staff friendly .been before on a Sunday there roast dinner are phenomenal.Just need those roast potatoes little more golden brown That's nick picking.will be visiting again

Arrived here yesterday at 4pm just for deserts and coffee. We have dined here before and found the food to be great. However this time when asking for a table for three people the man was very rude. We explained how was just wanted coffee and deserts to which he sighed at us and said we should be using the cafe downstairs. The cafe downstairs doesn’t have a large selection and we wanted warm deserts. After having to ask for a table several times in a mostly empty restaurant he finally seated us. He then walked off and didn’t return. He brought no desert or drink menus and no other staff came over. After waiting 15 minutes and seeing lots of staff down the other end of the restaurant we got tired of waiting. We were made to feel like an inconvenience and in the end just left after receiving no service. We have dined here several times but the way the man on the door treated us sadly means we wouldn’t return again, as it seems unless you plan to spend a fair amount of money you don’t get served or to be treated with respect.

Very busy, staff didn't engage as usual Had boathouse burger so disappointed , greasy bacon & burgers. Cheese slices practically transparent and the chips, some raw, some looked they had been waiting around for a while. And my food was warm, the other guests in my party said theirs was hot. When asked if everything was OK? It was said when the waitress was walking away, no point in waiting for a replacement so didn't eat the meal. Had some good meals in the past such a shame

My first time here. A birthday party with 14 ladies. Stewart, our lead server was a champ! So patient and accomodating. All the staff were terrific! The menu was a set meal. I had the pea soup, pie, veggies and gravy and cheesecake with ice cream, all vegan. The singer was amazing, the atmosphere deluxe, what a great, memorable night. Wonderful place! Came again for an 83rd birthday celebration! Staff was super, as always. Gorgeous view of the lake at Sale Water Park. Early bird vegan feast.

Nice restaurant with a good view over the lake where you can see sailing and water skiing while you eat. Prices are reasonable and the staff are very friendly.

Waitress had a crush on me. She kept chasing me! (My card declined) 😂

Fantastic food and excellent service

The food was magnificent, however, the windows do need a clean from the outside. My view was impaired due to numerous dead insects plastered to the window.

My son Timmy ordered a buger and ate a few of his dads haliumi and got explosive diarrhoea

Wonderful view & a very pretty restaurant! Nice service & it's great they had a midweek dinner special for 2-3 courses for £20-23. I'd love to try the Sunday roast:)

Just had lunch with 2 guests, we ate off lunchtime special menu it was great. I had rump steak with mushrooms peas and real chips, guest had chicken with pepper sauce and baked potato, my wife had fish with boiled new potatoes......you don't often get that many options for sides on a lunch menu. We all had deserts for less than £20. Staff were very good. We would certainly recommend

Bit of a mixed bag. Location is wonderful. Burger was great but servers were clearly harassed on a busy Saturday night. Children running about didn't help. Cheesecake was so awful I didn't eat it and am not generally fussy over food. Not a favourite.

Alway good, been many times, but not enough choice of meals, hence the 4 star rating.

The view from the lake restaurant gives a fantastic upgrade to the dining atmosphere. The food is also of good quality.

This is a really welcoming, family friendly place offering reasonably priced food and a menu for most preferences.

the food was excellent... but my sea bass consisted of three tails of different fish. Question is where is the center part of my sea bass? Risotto was very watery not at all like Risotto I tasted at other JWLees restaurant.

Was very average.... First time here... Positives... Food is good...staff are great... Negatives... The road upto restaurant is a nightmare in the dark... Although food is good i think a touch expensive for the establishment... And the restaurant is very tired...could really do with a revamp

Party of 6, we were looked after well. The food was tasty ( I had pate, chicken in creamy pepper sauce, chips - which were perfect, crispy on the outside & fluffy in the middle - & peas), all for £17.90 on the early evening menu. I treated myself to the raspberry pavlova which was extra (£6.50). The service was good, friendly, efficient without being intrusive. I recommend it. They have added a "dine & dance" night on a Saturday, we're going to try it out next week

Cannot comment on food as I only had drink in the cafe. It doesn’t look the greatest to be honest. Quite run down on both the outside and the inside. Service was fine, however during our visit we had some work men doing work on the inside of the cafe, so the atmosphere was diminished somewhat. The upstairs restaurant area looked relatively better, and lots of people wearing suits and dinner dresses. I would not recommend this place for a cafe trip, but cannot comment on the restaurant aspect.

The salt and pepper ribs were better than most Chinese ones I've had, they were delicious, really meaty and tasty, the roast dinner was bang on, lovely beef, the roast potatoes could have been better is the only small negative, will be returning

Had our works Christmas Lunch here yesterday and it was so lovely! The service was excellent, staff were so friendly, the food was served hot and it was delicious 😋 I wish I took photos but will definitely be going again !

Feel they need a more varied gluten free menu, although food we had was good. People need to take celiac more seriously.

The food is normally brilliant quality BUT the vegan choices were poor this 2023. My vegan friend could only have melon and pomegranate for starters on the Xmas menu - not good enough.

Went recently and it was absolutely fabulous, service, food and staff were wonderful. Wouldn't hesitate to return and recommend and there was 30 of us so not easy to get right but perfect.

The best food I had since last 2 years in manchester. Have tried many places, but this place gave that warm feeling and a essnse of increased appetite when I went there. If you're after gluten free don't come here. Ordered the beer battered haddock as it says it gluten free. I asked again to definitely makesure, they said it was. I assumed it would be a gluten free batter as no one ever told me that its actually just a piece of haddock with no batter on at all, you would think someone would say that if you want it gluten free it would have no batter and i would of ordered something else. It was absolutely disgusting and the tiniest piece of fish id ever seen, it was that bad the woman who brought it over had the plate so high up i couldn't see it probably embarrassed she had to serve that to someone. Avoid

Went for food this evening and had high hopes as the reviews were really good. Was really happy to see that they have gluten free options as my husband has celiac disease and can’t eat gluten at all as it makes him unwell. My husband ordered the battered fish and chips and when it came it was a tiny bit of fish with no batter, literally just plain soggy fish. We actually laughed at first cause we were like .. surely not! The waiter didn’t mention this when we ordered and as it is listed as a gluten free item we expected it would just be gluten free batter as it has been in other places we ordered. This completely ruined the meal as it’s already hard enough to find restaurants that cater toward gluten free and to just be given a slither of fish with no batter was just weird. Why have it on the menu as normal fish and chips? Why not have gluten free haddock with no batter on the menu instead so people know what they are ordering and are not left disappointed. Also either the batter was just taken off the fish or the chips were cooked in the normal fryer because now my husband has been feeling sick all night as something he ate clearly contained gluten. Wouldn’t have minded if the waiter had told us as we would have gone elsewhere. The rest of our food was ok but wouldn’t go again and wouldn’t recommend if you have dietary requirements as it’s quite an expensive restaurant really, too expensive to be serving boiled soggy fish as the gluten free option.

Excellent restaurant. Celebrated our 69 th wedding anniversary with 14 family members. Food delicious nice and hot and brought to or table at the same time so we were eating together. Great selection on the menu. Friendly staff. We go quite often to their early bird. Highly recommend

Beautiful view but it sadly stops there. Aside from the outdated decor (reminiscent of a 90's bowling alley), inflated prices (mainly upped for the view no doubt), I am very disappointed with the whole experience I had. The menu is limited and expensive, but the food we picked was actually delicious for the most part. I did find a number of small black hairs on my fish, I politely noted this to the manager who took our plates, and I was informed this 'must be part of the fish'. I was baffled and appalled I didn't even get an apology or acknowledgement. I feel I was looked down upon because I wasn't quite the clientele they are used to (I was dressed in a tracksuit after my run). The waitresses are lovely every time I've been in, but unfortunately I won't be visiting again unless it has a major overhaul.

We went for a meal for my fathers 85th birthday, having spent many years of dining with the reastaurant we we're hoping for a experience similar to he's had previously, unfortunately this was not the case. The location is fantastic as are the majority of the staff. My father ordered roast beef after seeing it come out to a few other tables he said it looked delicious, we proceeded to order with Richard who i believe is a manager, after taking our order and making 0 small talk with the table it took 40 minutes for the starters to arrive and we were all starving by this point, it was busy so understandably the kitchen was under pressure. We all enjoyed our starters and eagerly awaitied the mains when my fathers arrived he was not happy he asked for medium beef and to be honest I would have had trouble chewing it, his veg was undercooked and he was utterly dissapointed, he waived down Richard and explained the situation and richard was incredibly blunt and offered another meal as a replacement, my father then requested a medium steak and chips instead we were told it will take a while to arrive as the kitchen is busy, this is understandable however it takes around 12 mins to cook a medium steak, there was no option given by richard as to what steak he wanted and after about 20 mins we flagged Richard down again and we we're told in no uncertain terms the steak will take as long as it takes and thats it. For a manager of a reataurant to come accross so rude and abrupt i was shocked and had to bite my tongue. When yhe steak arrived it was well done to nobodys suprise as it took nearly 30 minutes again my father did not eat it. When the bill arrived the steak was on there and when richard was questioned he said you ate it so that's why its on there when in fact je didn't eat it and this was diputed he agreed to take it off the bill! There were 6 of us in total the bill was already over 220 pounds so that wasn't an issue. Richard removed from the bill and in my opinion was still rude and had no people skills whatsoever. Bring back winny and betty my father said on the way home at least they had people skills and i couldn't agree more!

Went for a meal with my adult children and it was lovely the staff are attentive and helpful my daughter wanted a cocktail that was not on the drinks menu & they googled it & made her one & she said it was the best one she had tasted, food was nice & the view over looking the water is great nice relaxing restaurant. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Visited on a Sunday around 6:30/7pm. We didn’t book a table but we were seated straight away. Our food was lovely, I would recommend the Garlic Bread starter and the Haddock and Chips. Also really generous portion sizes. Good service, and really nice views of the lake.

Went at lunch time when it was very empty. So disappointed as I had heard positive comments. Staff friendly and efficient. Decor is like taking s trip back to the 80's and food from the same era. The fixed price lunch is poor value. I had pie,chips and peas which I could have produced at home with little effort for a third the price . As for the ice cream offered for dessert..O hadn't realised that Mr Whippy was still in existence.

Fantastic service and lovey food with a great view .

We were celebrating our son's graduation. There were 7 of us, with me in a wheelchair, and the staff were great! They were polite, friendly and helpful. Lesley in particular made sure I had what I needed. There is a lift to the restaurant on the 1st floor. The food was amazing! Everyone enjoyed their meals. It was freshly made and nicely presented. I think we have found a new family favourite restaurant.

Lovely atmosphere, very busy but staff very attentive

A special occasion and I only had the spicy prawns. Excellent dish and the staff were warm and friendly.

Good food reasonably priced however bits missing from meals. Had to ask for them then waitress looked at us as if we were wrong. We weren't wrong and the missing bits appeared.....they are on the menu!
