The Boot Inn in Stratford-on-Avon

We have dined at The Boot for a number of years, but in all honesty each time we go it’s not as good as it used to be. You used to get a ticket at the end of your meal with the name of the chef that cooked your meal and who had served you, but that stopped a long time ago. Against better advice from a friend who said her daughters birthday meal on New Year’s Eve was very disappointing and the food they were served was poor quality, we went tonight for my husband’s birthday and chose to sit in the bar area. I was surprised how quiet it was as when we went last year it was nearly full in the restaurant. We had olives and bread to start which were ok. My husband ordered the prawn, chorizo and scallop linguine. My daughter had the ‘special’ vegetable linguine, and I ordered the mushroom risotto. I have never sent a meal back, but my mushroom risotto hadn’t been seasoned and when I added salt and pepper it really made no difference and it had a funny taste to it as if it had been reheated, and definitely didn’t taste fresh. My husband said his was ok, but only ok, and again was lacking any seasoning, and my daughter left most of hers for pretty much the same reason. I then ordered a mushroom and cheese starter and a portion of chips, but due to a lack of choice as I’m vegetarian and wanting something quick to eat with my family, it did arrive quickly but again wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever eaten. I was refunded for my main meal and I was given and apology, which was appreciated, but all in all it was very disappointing and underwhelming.

Booked a lunchtime meal for 4 in the between Christmas and New Year lull. We dine at The Boot quite regularly, sometimes as a couple, sometimes as a couple with our dog and, as this time, just with friends. Atmosphere, was relaxed and friendly, food fresh and hot ( we chose 4 quite different meals) and the service was exemplary. Particular thanks to Darcy who looked after us so well.

Christmas Day Great service by waitress and front of house,food was poor with hard uncooked veg which were not edible, we were not the only table to highlight this, the waitress gave our drinks for compensation however this doesnt compensate for what should have been a special day..wouldn't recommend..

Been here plenty of times. Never been disappointed. Bottomless brunch was something new and also a great experience. Highly recommended to come here no matter what you are doing

Christmas day lunch. A really warm welcome from staff and regulars alike. Excellent service from our waitress. Fantastic food (especially the scallops) couldn't have been better. Thank you for making what had the potential to be a difficult day after losing my mom this year into something truly enjoyable.

I hosted my 60th Birthday celebration at The Boot. Lee & team were fabulous nothing was too much trouble they decorated the table had the Champagne nicely chilled to serve my guests. The meal was super cooked beautifully great service we had a lovely waitress Ellie I can Highly recommend this restaurant

I had an amazing birthday meal here my husband had took me to celebrate my 50th. We was greeted by Nadine who was our waitress and took our drinks order starters we had the chicken and I had the pate both very nice starters our mains I couldn't choose so Nadine recommended the lamb and my husband had the pork belly with scallops the lamb was absolutely gorgeous cooked to my liking and the veg was real nice as well lovely presentation our desserts was the apple and i had a trio of desserts which was a brownie and ice cream cream brulee and Sicilian dessert all very nice with a lovely message on plate wishing me a happy birthday , i asked Nadine to recommend me a lovely cocktail as not keen on certain ones so she got Ellie to make me the perfect cocktail again very nice had 2, all in all a lovely meal along with good food and service special mention to Nadine waitress very lovely and kitchen staff Liam Matt C and Andrew you made my food to perfection and i did get the waitress to inform you that the food was amazing Thanks again for making it so special

Excellent food, good advice on allergies by Sarah our waitress, and a birthday meal made extra special by a kind gift of a cookie on a presentation tray ! The Boot is certainly a place to go for a great evening out .

Tasty food perfectly cooked by the chef of the night Liam, and served by the always delightful Ashley. REALLY enjoyed lamb, as it was cooked perfectly! Although the desserts were a bit on the small side, and you could always do with more dessert! Otherwise the staff were lovely.

This was our first date night of 2024 (work, kids, etc always get in the way). We are so glad we picked here. We had a lovely table in the corner and had a wonderful night. Tom was amazing and really made our night. So welcoming and friendly. The food was lovely. The wine was exceptional. We keep coming back for a reason and Tom is a large part of that. Keep hold of him, he is awesome.

Ideal lunch spot. We we're offered the main menu and lunchtime set menu. Plenty of choice for dishes. Highly recommend the pork belly and lemon tart. Service with a smile from Caroline where nothing was too much trouble. Our food was cooked by Liam and Matty which we couldn't fault.

Four of us enjoyed a fabulous meal at the Boot. We all really enjoyed the food, with empty plates all round after every course. My scallops starter was delicious (I just didn’t want it to come to an end). My main course of a Panzanella salad was beautifully fresh and crunchy and it came topped with two fillets of beautifully cooked sea bass. One of my friends had a ribeye steak which he said was perfect. A couple of us had cheese and biscuits to follow which had generous portions of lovely cheese. My partner’s trio of desserts was the perfect finale to his meal. The presentation of the food at the Boot is exquisite, every course is a work of art and the chef delivers a far more refined dining experience than your average country pub. The high quality ingredients of the food shine through (no frozen pre-packaged stuff here). This is obviously reflected in the slightly higher price than other pubs/restaurants within a few miles radius, however the food is in a league of its own, and you certainly get what you pay for. Special mention has to go to our delightful and friendly waiter Kiran who was very attentive and served us with a genuine smile. The Boot has a delightful atmosphere with cosy yet contemporary décor. The ornate wooden beamed ceiling, soft lighting and comfortable seating make this a fabulous choice for a romantic meal or a sophisticated get together with friends. We are already making plans for our return.

I wanted to take my partner for a birthday meal and this one seemed the best option locally from the on line menu. We had been a couple of times before with friends. Both main and dessert dishes selected were enjoyable and the night was capped off by Luke who was very friendly, helpful (and hard working). It will continue to be one of our favourite local go-to pub restaurants.

Variety to chose from Great tasting food, mine was hot and came fast, it filled me up and very happy wait the quality, could tell it was freshly made.

Great food, pleasant surroundings, good service. I especially recommend the Ribeye steak, onion rings are the best we have ever tried! Mini desert and drink is an excellent option.

Lovely little pub fells like your in the countryside, me and my friend shared a starter which was lovely, I then had the slow cooked pork belly, which was cooked to perfection, for dessert I had the chocolate bomb which was again was lovely, I would definitely recommend the boot to anyone, we were seen by Jodie and Nadine they were so lovely

Came to the Boot for lunch with my 2 young daughters after being out all morning during half term. On arrival the host was very pleasant and was nice enough to allow my eldest to pick where she wanted to dine. Food was wonderful! We were served by Ashley and she was brilliant. Understood my girls very well and understood when they were tiring from previous activities. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone! We will be back again for sure in due course.
