Great little pub, yet to try the food

Lovely little place, food was delicious 😋

Lovely place that we found on the way back to the train station after a day out today! Cosy & warm with friendly staff who were setting up for Christmas parties. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area as they were so welcoming 👍❤️

Would be 5*, like the food, but they have crammed too many tables into the eating area and it's areal pain to navigate. I understand why they've done it but it's not great for customers.

Fantastic festive menu meal. Great tasting food with very generous portions. Reasonably priced drinks with a good selection. Staff very friendly and attentive. Really good atmosphere. Will definitely return especially to try the Sunday roast.

A lovely bar selling reasonably priced lager and ales along with food options. Early 20th century memorabilia with a military focus.

Booked a table after reading reviews as was attending a mid week concert at the Leas Cliff. Sadly we were affected by traffic so had to ring and give up the table. When we finally reached the town we headed to the pub anyway and they were able to seat us. We had a burger meal and a salad and they were lovely. Fresh and home made. The salad was delicious - great flavours. Service very genuine and friendly. Great ambience. Would deffo recommend.

I went here for dinner tonight asi had been in folkstone for the day doing a work shop. The food was excellent I would recommend the vegetable pie with the mash and vegetables. There was only 1 bathroom working. The X2 waitresses and the waiter were very lovely. One of the waitresses she came and asked us how our food was we said delicious. I will definitely be returning.

We were lucky to get in here at the last minute on a Saturday evening, so i would advise reserving in advance. We loved it - the retro deco, the food and drink options served, the friendly staff, the food was very good. A really enjoyable experience.

A very welcoming afternoon with both good food and an owner with a great sense of humour.

Really gutted that they pull the ribs off their menu but didn’t updated their menu online or in restaurant as we made a trip there just for the ribs, ended up need to rush the drink and eat elsewhere. Please bring it back!

Regularly visit on a Monday. we enjoy the varied selection of ales. Food consistently good. Also dog friendly. Usually have starters (chicken wings or salt squid. Starters not listed on choices here)

This is exactly what a real English pub should be like! Authentic, a little old-fashioned, good beers and excellent fish 'n chips!

Spurred on by Trip Advisor reviews we stopped here for a drink and evening meal on our one night in Folkestone. Jim greeted us effusively, found us a table and a glass of very good house red wine and a pint of local beer were swiftly brought over. My partner and I shared a starter of baked Brie with honey and caramelised walnuts on a bed of salad. Delicious. My partner chose the molasses and orange ham with egg and chips and I chose spinach and butternut squash gnocchi for our mains. Also delicious and all this for under £50. Interesting and quirky surroundings and great service. Thoroughly recommended.

A wonderful place to drink and eat, with a good selection of drinks and food. The person serving us went out of her way to help meet my wife's dietary requirements, with the chef doing their best to create a lovely salad!

We just shared lovely meal with my hubby and little one. The portions were impressive. I especially loved the mussels with white wine and garlic sauce. They were fantastic. My hubby enjoyed his vegetable pie and little one's burger was a good size for £7.50 with chips, beans and ice cream. We had tried many restaurants around Folkestone as we come here every summer but I can safely say we will be coming back to The Bouverie Tap next year. Something I couldn't say about the others. The staff is very friendly and atmosphere super chilled and comfy 👍

Great place for a pint and a snack or two pints and really great food. We keep coming back when we are in Folkestone and enjoy the place, with interesting wall coverings, posters etc., and attentive staff. Well worth a visit !!

This place encapsulated the atmosphere of what I had hoped for coming as a tourist to South England. The food was delicious and the options for drinks were great. I would definitely recommend the Minute Steak and Fish&Chips. The staff were all super friendly and the service was quick.

We recently had our wedding celebration here and it could not have been more perfect. The buffet food was incredible (everyone mentioned it), and kept coming all night! They even made us roast potatoes and gravy for our gravy fountain, and a surprise potato wedding cake! The staff worked so hard to keep everything running smoothly and made sure everyone was taken care of. Alex, one of the bar staff, was our DJ for the night. He played an amazing set that kept the dancefloor full all night! We could not have hoped for a better way to celebrate our wedding. Highly recommended!

Had a quiet, delicious birthday lunch on a Monday - not many places to go on a Monday in Folkestone but I'm glad that helped me choose the Bouverie Tap! I had the delicious gnocchi, very herby and buttery (and filling!) and my partner loved the burger and fries. Great attentive staff and as a history nerd, I love the wartime interiors.

Stopped for a beer and coffee after a rainy afternoon. All good, but beer glass had an insect at the bottom. Yuk! No apology, no compensation.

Lovely place. Can't decide whether it is a pub or a micro but great nevertheless. Will come back her as the beer choice was good and well kept and my meal was delicious.

Food was great! The options were nicely varied and they had a scotch bonnet chilli sauce that was absolutely smashing! And the hot dog I ordered was a proper bratwurst, was such a delight to eat. They also had a nice selection of drinks to choose from, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. And whoever made the playlist was genuinely on it, the song choices were great! Over all would recommend this place to anyone

Went for Sunday roast the lamb was gorgeous my only problem was the roast potatoes weren't particularly hot

Stopped in for a Sunday roast with my girlfriend and our son after meeting Luke & Lucy (the owners) and their son on a family day trip. Luke invited us to his restaurant to try out the food and we wasn’t disappointed. The chicken supreme roast was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was accompanied with a double spiced rum and coke which went down really well and I was later told it was a local Kent based dark spiced rum. Very impressed. Hannah was also raving about her sirloin beef roast and as her dad is a butcher I would say that’s a pretty big compliment. But by far the biggest compliment I could pay is that our son who is one of the most fussiest of eaters, absolutely loved the sausages. I managed to nick a bite myself and I have to agree with his judgement. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Love the decor by the way Luke 😉 We’ll definitely pay another visit next time we’re in Folkestone. We have to come back and try the burgers, (I was torn between that and the roast). This lovely restaurant was the perfect location to The Leas Cliff Hall and myself and my parents were made to feel very welcome by the amazing staff yesterday. Special thanks go to Jim and Kayleigh who replied to my E mails regarding certain dishes and remembered us as we arrived for our sitting. A very welcome personal touch. Disappointing Potatoes as very hard and unfortunately affected a filling for my husband so he was in pain and could not eat most of the meal. My lamb was very nice and the small portion for my mum went down well. Far to quick on arrival to ask for what drinks we wanted and came back again too soon for us as well so we ended up ordering lemonade all round. Left us a bit longer we might have ordered alcohol and would have got more money out of us. Nice cosy venue

Best mussels in Folkestone when I had them! On my last visit, unfortunately the beer I went in for..... The "666" had gone from their place! All new staff since I was last here, but still welcoming enough! This location is great for food and brilliant reputation for Sunday lunch, but make sure you book!

A tad noisy but everyone v happy and friendly - so there! Food looked good, and it was quieter round the corner. I loved the decor. Felt safe and in a REAL place. 10/10

Been here 3 times for a Sunday roast food is really good. Between us we all had a pork belly, a chicken, a beef and a lamb roast and everyone couldn’t say enough good things about it. Deserts were also top notch The venue itself is very rustic and rough around the edges and may not be to everyone’s taste (especially the bathroom) and the seating area downstairs is access via a very narrow spiral stairs case so not suitable for people with limited mobility. Overall the food is really good and staff and really friendly and would highly recommend for a good Sunday roast. Make sure to book ahead as they are always busy.

We visited today 31/3/24 great little rustic place to eat and drink where the food is cooked to perfection with lovely attentive staff, we were a party of 5 and had 3 roast beef and 2 lamb plus desserts and drinks all the food came out at the same time, not like some places and a great choice of drinks it's not over priced nor cheap but you do get what you pay for we have been here several times and will keep going back, the management should be proud of their staff, a BIG thank you to The Bouverie Tap.

We were seven people, and five of us had the meat pie - which was very much relished and praised alongside a portion of mussels and The Green Burger! The Bouverie Tap offers a lovely, rustic atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, and the quality-price-ratio is fantastic! The perfect place to take a bunch of friends, enjoy good food and have a giggle!

Must be one of my favourite casual places to eat for both celebration or just lazy evening! Ribs and pies are probably best ones you can get anywhere in UK!

Great venue for an evening gathering. Good buffet and service was very good too. The venue has a basement room whichbcan be used for private hire.

My third visit, this time for Sunday lunch. Excellent roasts, one of my daughters had lamb and I had beef. The other daughter had the burger which she rated highly ( she’s a burger connoisseur!). Generous portions, all very tasty. We couldn’t manage a dessert.The service is always friendly and welcoming. This is my go-to place to eat in Folkestone.

We had a concert at Leas Cliffe Hall and it was convnient to eat here and walk down to the concert. On top of it the Food was really good..nice selection of beers and gin..service attentitive We'll be back!

Saturday night the wife and I went for drinks and food. Homemade pie & mash and fish & chips followed by cheesecake. The food was absolutely delicious, drinks were very good and the service couldn't have been better. Would highly recommend.

Fabulous food and atmosphere. This was recommended to me as having the best mussels in Folkestone and I was not disappointed. Mussels in spicy tomato sauce was great, as were the salt and peppered squid. I would highly recommend this boutique restaurant.

There was a large group already seated, but they quicky took our order and sneak our order through before. Nice touch. Food was exceptional and staff were good fun, professional and attentive. Great place.

An amazing little find en route home from France to Worcestershire. Wonderful service and incredible food. Thoroughly enjoyable. Pleasing a family of 5 including a vegetarian.

Great location! Enjoyed the meal as well as the pleasant and sympathetic service!

First visit. Food amazing scotch bonnet chicken wings are as hot as advertised! Plenty of biscuits for furry guests, and well kept pale ales, see you again soon!

Just popped in for a drink although they were very busy they let use a reserved table on the condition we we left by a certain time which gave us plenty of time to enjoy our drinks.

Great pub eaten here twice including a Christmas meal with a large group. Food was excellent, staff very friendly and also welcome dogs.

When for Xmas meal with family and it had to be the worst pub meal ive ever eaten. The spuds had been reheated, gravy was like water and the rest of the 3 course meal was just as bad. I was a local but I’m not sure I’ll ever go in again. What a shame and a waste of money A local

We had lunch at the bouverie tap today. The food was superb and great value given the quality. The service was super friendly too. A wide range of drinks on offer. A genuinely lovely place, highly recommend.

Nice pub with great choice of beers and a really specialism in gins. £6.50 for a specialty gin and tonic is pretty good. Bar area was a bit cramped

Best pork belly roast I have ever had. Lovely service and very good music!

We would not be able to review the food as we were not even approached by the wait staff the entire time we were there. We went inside and sat at a table and ultimately my husband went to the bar and ordered beers. One waitress entered the dining area many times and never once approached our table to see if we wanted food so we left and went around the corner to Radnor Arms where we were greeted nicely. In my opinion 2 stars is generous.

We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch. All the staff were really friendly and the service was quick and they were really busy. The food was fabulous. Lovely vegetables and the roast pork was amazing. An absolute pleasure to have such a great experience

Our daughter recommended the Bouverie Tap as an ideal place to eat and drink before going to a show at the Leas Cliff Hall. The staff were friendly and helpful and were happy for us to take our time in ordering our meal as we had plenty of time. There were an interesting choice of beers and also several Kentish gins. Our food arrived fairly quickly after ordering and was delicious and fresh. The decor was extremely interesting, so there was plenty to look at while we were there. We would definitely recommend it to others.

Love the rustic atmosphere, food is of high quality and reasonably priced, so are the drinks, very attentive, friendly staff, all in all a place to keep in mind and well worth a regular visit! Thank you!

Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere and good food. I visited with my partner and we had a homemade pie with vegetables and potatoes, which was a blessing as it was pouring down outside! We also had a local craft ale, delicious as well! My partner had a sticky toffee pudding (reeeeally nice) and I ordered a cheesecake, which was a bit disappointing because there were random chocolate chips in it.

We were a bunch of (older) girlies meeting for lunch on a dreary rainy Saturday afternoon. In many ways the perfect local pub spot. Its not high end dining but honest, reasonably priced pub grub. Lamb shank with gravy and mash, burgers etc Haven't seen such a reasonably priced drinks list like this in a long while. Great attentive service by Hayley and Kirsten - not in your face but genuinely friendly. Next time its wintry - lock yourself in there with some friends or a good book
