The Bramley Cottage in Redditch

Please read whole review Very,very poor, meal (First post few months ago) Been going many years off and on. Will wait till thing's improve till we go again. Staff good. Paid Bramely a visit for tea last night , wanted to see if food had improved,did a starter soup and main gammon,wife steak,improved on last time meals all ok. Staff were very good. Up to a four star now from one previously. Only comment had a receipt and noticed vat on beer. Told draught ales had vat,cask not. So a £4.55 pint had 20% vat added on top. First time I've seen that. 18/01/23 Thing's really improved, lovely, quality two course lunch and beautiful ales , definitely going back. Will book to get a table we like, although luckily not to busy when we went and staff brilliant. March Very disappointed,meal lovely, service staff excellent,but that's where it stops. The Bramely cottage now seems inundated with dogs,dogs not a problem if they have a designated area to go. Unfortunately since our last visit they seem to be allowed anywhere in the resteraunt. One dog sat behind us on the floor then barked when owner went to bar to get another drink. Another owner allowed the dog to sit on a cushion on the sofa and then walk all over the table. Barked fairly continuously. This we reported to the bar staff. A new family arrived and sat at the table as previous occupants left. A lady then sat at another table lifted dog onto chair by her,the dog then put it's paws on table, when food arrived nothing was said and she fed dog from her plate with scraps. Sorry hygiene at the Bramely is definitely questionable. A complaint has been forwarded . November Visited tonight for evening meal, mixed grill spot on selection of guest ales well kept, one meal very poor sirloin mostly fat. Had to revisit bill as our tab had drinks from another table? Would visit again. But expect better. 17/01/25 Just been tonight to Bramley cottage, Excellent,excellent, excellent! Food management and service and one of the best pints of plumb porter ever, it's how you put it in the glass! It's not very often a person serving stands out but Ember inns should be aware you have a gold star employee, professional, organised and compassionate about his job. Cameron 11/10. Yes standards have improved dramatically. Going again.

Normally the food is fairly good but on this visit it wasn't. I had steak and chips amd my partner had the mixed grill. Unfortunately all the meat on our plates was way too charred and that's all you could taste,even with the sauces we had. The steak would have been perfect if not for this and it was the same for my partner's meal. The sausages were mostly black on the outside. We ended up bringing most of the meat home for our dog. Very disappointing considering the only things that weren't burnt in any way was the chips.

Great place to go with the family. Had a big table booked for my nephews birthday and the staff accommodated us brilliantly. The only downside was the toilets, a little run down. However, the food was spot on so no complaints from me and should think we'll be returning if the occasion arrises.

Arrived but an hour wait for food so not good for a lunchtime meal .

Just been in to order food but was about to order drinks. Moody asst manager...customer service shocking. Can't be arsed to answer phone calls. So went to next pub Rose and Crown. Sizzler....super service..friendly staff...food great. Reasonable prices....Put the Bramley to shame....won't be going there again.

Wasn't shown to table after other diners had been seated had to look for staff to show me table prior to party arriving which was in the bar and not in the dining area. The table given had a broken centre table so had to move to next table that was not laid up so we had to help staff move cutlery. All food came out late, main meal was not as hot as should've been and had to get staff to remove plates after every meal. Not satisfied .

Had the most wonderful Christmas meal here! Food was amazing, staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was lovely. Have had Christmas dinner at a previous Ember Inns in Solihull, but this was by far 100% better! Well done to everyone for making our Christmas Day one to remember!! Xx

Christmas work meal 2024. Table service , ordered online (grumble but okay) Starter stars were sticky Salt& Pepper chicken. .and Lamb koftas. Delivered quickly and devoured. And 3 Ultimate burgers while I had the steak and Guinness pie (yum) Didn't come with mash but when asked waitress supplied quickly. (Gravy could have been a bit thicker). Mac'n'cheese side (*!)Good mix of drinks , I had HPA (Hereford Pale Ale) and wished wasn't driving. Come again

First Christmas meal of the season and it’s the best I’ve had for years! Honestly overwhelmed with the food and the service we had from Kameron was outstanding he helped with photos and drinks and so friendly made the night! Definitely recommend

Slow service, when the food arrived, Luke warm gammon very thin and tough. Rest of the meal seemed as though had been prepared and then left under the warm service lights.. not great, not in a rush to go back.

Came to try the new menu, which was really nice . Sharmaine our waitress was so lovely, served us with a smile and made sure we didn't feel rushed, exactly what you need on an afternoon lunch.

The menu at the bramley is a must, this time round i had the fish and chips which was cooked perfectly! The one thing that made it better was the service! Sharmaine went above and beyond exceeding our expectations. A true credit to the business

What truly stood out, though, was the exceptional service from Sharmaine. She was an absolute gem—attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Her warm personality and genuine care made the experience even more special. The food was delicious, but Sharmaine’s brilliant service is what will keep us coming back. A five-star experience from start to finish!

We came today to celebrate a family member birthday. Waiter Can was serving us , and he was very attentive, lovely person . Went out of his way to help us with everything. And the food was excellent! Food was prepared by Tom & Phoebe and it was amazing ! We are definitely going to be back , thank you x

Had a lovely sunday lunch at the Bramley cottage today. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great and the toilets were spotless. Staff were very friendly. One member of staff called Sharmaine was extremely helpful, very friendly, polite and very efficient, nothing was too much trouble for her. Would highly recommend this establishment.

Went for a dinner today with my wife. As we always enjoy the food and the ambiance of the place and Sharmaine did an amazing service. Food is great!

The food is tasty with good portions, and beautifully presented. We were looked after today by Sharmaine who could not have done more to make our visit so pleasant, she went above and beyond to look after us. The pub was lovely and clean too, as were the toilets. 10/10 for service today, we will definitely be returning.

We come quite regularly for lunch and dinner. Always friendly service & never any complaints for food. Special shout out to Sharmaine, she serves us a lot and is always nice and helpful, nothing is ever to much for her.

Kam has been amazing. Me and my mum went for bottomless brunch and he was incredible. Constantly checking up on when we needed a new bottle. Fully attentive and caring to what we needed and helped us get the full experience. Will definitely be coming back again!!

Yes it is a very good place to go for a drink. The atmosphere is great and warming and the barstaff are very good and friendly. Yes especially Cameron who was very helpful and kind and looked after me very well if ever I needed something he would help me. 👌

Great customer service and excellent support with food allergies. We had 4 meals - 3 were great, 1 not so. The fried egg had shell in it and the larger sized steak was fatty, full of gristle and really not edible. Our son is allergic to les gumes including peas. He has an epi pen for this allergy. No alternative vegetable was offered hence he was penalised for something out of his control. Unfortunately this 4th meal was for my son who was celebrating his 16th birthday. He was disappointed as enjoys a mixed grill. No one came to check on our meals otherwise I would have vocalised our being dissatisfied. As it was, we didn't want to make an issue on our sons birthday. Only other contentious issue is the state of the toilets. No comment would infer the much needed work needed on them!

We have been going every Wednesday evening for about two years. The reason is Andrew’s fabulous quiz! Andrew is a consummate host, very engaging & sharp-witted. The quiz is well thought out with a mixture of questions & a picture round. Prizes for the top three winning teams & sweeties for the team coming in last….. Just don’t CLICK your pens! 😜 Bar staff & food servers give friendly & attentive service, which round off a perfect evening.

I went to the Wednesday quiz and Andrew is such fun! A great quiz with a variety of questions, some easy and some to get your brain cells working! If you want a fun night out then get to the Bramley on a Wednesday!

We look forward to our Wednesday evenings at The Bramley! We are a party of 6 who attend every week for the quiz, hosted by Andrew. We have been coming now for some 6 years. Andrew is a fabulous host & he makes the quiz fun, engaging & amusing. He obviously puts a tremendous amount of effort in to every quiz. We also have a meal before the quiz. Normally a good selection of food available and the bar staff are always helpful & friendly.

Our first visit, but will return if we're in the area. Surprisingly busy for a late Wednesday lunchtime: it was around 2pm when we arrived. Good menu, friendly and helpful staff when ordering, great hot chocolate for £2.99 (with cream included!) and the food was delicious and portions were large. We ate at lunchtime so probably won't have much more today! I had the Hunters Chicken and himself had the Beef Short Rib. Both excellent and tasty. The only point I'd make is that you need to add dried rice to the salt cellars - after the recent wet weather they were blocked - but that's a very minor point.

I really enjoy the quiz on a Wednesday evening, its great fun. Andrew who runs the quiz is such a friendly guy who makes everyone feel welcome. If you fancy a fun evening out I highly recommend it.

We are here every Wednesday evening to catch up with family members but mainly for Andrew’s fabulous quiz! We’ve been coming for over a year now and have a great evening. Andrew is engaging, funny and puts everyone so at ease with his witty banter and comments and the quiz itself is great and Andrew obviously puts a great deal of effort into it. We also often eat here and the food is good plus the staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend.

Lovely atmosphere friendly but VERY cold. Many customers complained particularly those eating with many leaving their coats on. Chloe is bright bubbly and provides great customer service with a lovely genuine smile

Everything was spot on, the guy who was manning the bar greeted us on arrival, explained where our table was we were served in a professional manner. The young lady who brought our meals to the table was very polite and couldn't fault her one bit. The food was very good ample portions and we struggled to finish all 3 courses, we will defiantly come again in the future this was our first visit to The Bramley Cottage and was certainly not our last thank you

Manager called 'Joshua' is one of the rudest members of staff I've come across. No customer service skills and so unhelpful. When you talk to him it's like he doesn't want to be there and can't be bothered to help. This hasn't happened on one occasion but multiple times. Please can management address this issue as it just puts your locals off visiting.

It was really easy to book a table online, the staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the food we ordered was very tasty and hot. The delicious deserts for afters were also great and it was all very nicely affordable, there was a lovely friendly atmosphere too, well done Bromley cottage staff, we will definitely see you again soon.

Nice cosy pub a good local, serves good food and has an excellent range of beers and wines. It is an Ember Inn and often has offers on for food deals.
