The Brasserie at Sir Christopher Wren in Windsor and Maidenhead

Don’t walk in for breakfast. They get really confused and don’t acknowledge you if you aren’t staying at the hotel. We walked by and stopped in for breakfast. They agreed to seat us but didn’t ask us if we wanted coffee or tea. I understand that UK breakfast is self serve but there was no way to get our own coffee. Other than that, the food was tasty and the river view was nice.

Come here for the afternoon tea and beautiful dining area. Open and bright with an extemely welcoming and friendly staff. We absolutely loved the layers of delicious treats. We shared a traditional and a kids one. Clotted cream and jam on a hot scone is amazing. We kept saying "this is totally my jam". Would love to come back to try a savory breakfast.

Went for an afternoon tea on Sunday. Called to book a table, but when I arrived they couldn’t find it. Gave us a nice table, food was good, but the service was terrible. Long wait to get menus then long wait to order, whilst all this time it was known we came for the set menu afternoon tea. Our waiter forgot about the tea and didn’t come to ask/check on us the whole time. We only could reach him at the end and they served us tea when we were already finished eating… bad experience for the price paid.

Quite fancy and clean. Afternoon Tea was brilliant, a fair but pricey, but not unexpectedly or excessively so.

It was an absolute delight to have had high tea here. The food is delish - the sandwiches just light and flavorful, the scones delightful with the strawberry preserve and clotted cream, and the mini desserts too decadent (couldn't finish the whole thing). All of this, while you look out the window with the Thames flowing by and plenty of pretty ducks and geese swimming around. The server was super nice. Would highly recommend and come again. :) 💕

I’m afraid I have to write about the shocking afternoon tea Chef should be ashamed sending out sandwiches like this. The cakes were nothing to write about, in fact they tasted a bit stale. You cannot charge someone £34 for that poor quality of food The fish n chips were ok The redeemer is the waitress is a treasure & seemed the only person working We kept trying to hail someone for the bill Staff never looked round the restaurant- very poor service The restaurant itself has no atmosphere or ambiance- you just can’t sell a place just on location- people don’t return So sorry- we were disappointed as it was a special event for us

Beautiful place by the river. Decent selection of food, we stopped off for lunch while in Windsor. Although Windsor has lots of places to eat, this restaurant has a great choice away from the fast food, pizza, Thai and Italian choices.

I ate here some months ago and ordered a chicken ceasar salad and honestly I couldn't eat it and normally I wouldn't want to waste food. The chicken was cold and unseasoned, like the packaged one you can get at the supermarket, the lattuce was not even cut. Literally lattuce and cold chicken thrown on a plate with some sort of ceasar mayo. In fairness they took it back and we didn't have to pay but they should really change the recepy. My family's food was good.

Very pleasant environment, staff were great and the food was well presented and hot. Very reasonable for prices and portion size was perfect.

I have made a booking for an afternoon tea set for two here. It was very nice of the staffs to let us in early and arrange for a table that is by the window. It was the perfect location for a girls date with very picture perfect river view with a spacious, quiet setting. For the afternoon tea set itself, I would say the sandwiches are a little too simple and cold for my taste but I really enjoyed the freshly served scones. The chocolate puff and macarons are the other top of the set. I also appreciate that tea and coffee is free flow!

A great lunch spot in central Windsor. The sea bass was perfectly cooked. We took business guests here and the service was fast and professional. The options were suitable for all diets and there was lovely views of the Thames. Reservations mid week did not seem necesssary but it doesn’t hurt. Request a booth for most comfortable seating option. No free customer parking but easy walk from anywhere in Windsor/Eton

Had a vegan birthday dinner treat for me yesterday with girlfriend - fantastic food and very scenic - would definitely consider going again - compliments to the chef.

We went there for afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cakes were tasty topped off by a glass of champagne .

Excellent food and service for a 12 person lunch on a Sunday for a birthday celebration. Good views of the river and bridge. The waiter was very helpful and attentive. We have used local pubs/restaurants for birthdays in the past, but this was considerably a better experience, for only a small price premium.

The food is pretty basic and they have the same lighting as an operating theatre. The location and the building could be an absolute gem with great food and a lovely cocktail bar but alas it's quite far from that.

The best brasserie in Windsor. Our choice for decades, regardless of the manager: the riverside views are incredible and the atmosphere unique. Impeccable service and reasonable prices that keep us coming from central London.

Beautiful views! We had afternoon tea which was lovely however, the service was a bit lackluster after the initial serve.

A great place for a traditional English tea with sandwiches, together with scones , jam, cream and cakes. All with fantastic views of the river.

Lovely afternoon tea overlooking the Thames. Scones were warm and choice of cakes ok. The only criticism is the tea pots are cheap stainless steel and used a tea bag instead of loose leaf tea, would expect something nicer from here. Staff are very good, friendly and attentive.

Had a fantastic meal,the steak was cooked to perfection Gail’s chicken dish was great all so the staff were very good,we went away full I loved the cheese board.

Arrived for some cream tea and were sat inside after being given a nonsensical reason that outdoor tables (while in use) were off limits. Ordered cream tea and tea arrived 5 mins later. 25 minutes later tea was drunk and scones had not arrived. I got up to complain and pay for the tea only while met with no apology and averted eye contact from the restaurant manager. Will not return and urge you to look elsewhere.

Lovely 'Hen Afternoon Tea'. Impressed with the individual serving stands for those with special dietary requirements. Able to relax and enjoy the afternoon without being rushed. Lovely riverside setting.

Lovely place in a hotel on the river i was a guest of a party that had already ordered the cream tea which looked very good. Not sure what the price was but would make a good treat for someone

Not worth money. Lovely venue, food shocking.

Scenic venue, with incredible views overlooking the River Thames. Horrible chunky utilitarian tea cups, stainless tea pots, doorstep sized sandwiches and disappearing waitrons marred a special birthday celebration, but we managed to have a lovely time in spite of this. I was quite surprised that this restaurant would serve food with such ugly crockery and serving containers, so out of keeping with expectations. On the plus side, food allergy of one guest was noted and acceded to, without prompting.

I wanted to book an evening table for 5 people for after 7pm. Very disappointed to see that this restaurant closes at 6pm I've never known or heard of a restaurant closing at 6pm in summer season.. So rang the Cotes Brasserie and was able to book there with no problem.

Lovely afternoon tea. Warm scones, sandwiches, petit fours and a good cup of tea. Great views of the river.

Over price in the bar couldn't get food only drinks because we didn't stay at the hotel just pasting by, who turn down Customer. And I think the double dry martini only had two shots not four in them.

Food was nice but I was a little disappointed with the slow service, took 50 mins for Afternoon Tea to be served even thou we booked it all in advance. Credit where its due it all came out fresh and well presented.

A very pleasant atmosphere.others had visited before. Good cuisine for 3 kids and 5 adults. Good helpings. Well chilled champagne choice of non alcoholic drinks .pleasant waiter service. Hope to go on eating at the Brasserie with other Friends

The food was amazing (totally amazing). I was a bit surprised that you can not have the "all day dining menu" outside... as such we had to dine inside to get the things we wanted to eat, instead of eating things like pizza!

We visited for a drink when staying at the adjoining hotel. The service was really poor and we were glad we didn't stay for a meal

Outdoor seating is available with heaters. A bit further down without heaters is a lovely view of the river where my boyfriend and I were sat for lunch. I had the soup of the day and he had a hot sandwich. The vegan brownie with vegan ice cream and strawberries were really good!

I always enjoy visiting the Cristopher Wren Hotel, it has become a bit of a Christmas tradition to have a Christmas Eve lunch and a drink in this beautiful Hotel. A bit different this year with Covid, however although we didn't visit on Christmas eve, we had a delightful afternoon Cream Tea. Staff were delightful and very attentive.

I'm sad to say. That my experience at this venue has been very disappointing, very arrogant and intrusive staff, highly unhelpful to which it left me in a very dangerous situation. not what I would come to expect from a company that thrives on visitors.

The food was ill-conceived and poorly executed, and with one exception the waiting stuff were calamitously bad. We received one main course and the waiters thought we were done. It turned out they hadn't even put through my main course on the till. We were wondering where our wine was while we watched tables who had ordered after us receive their food, but they were complaining and having similar experiences. Terrible value for money.

Food was good and a lovely place to relax and eat. But.. we were served by three different people and got to say non of them seemed to want to work there. The dining experience is even more important than the actual food. Might go back for dinner to see if the experience is so bad again. Shame as it's on our doorstep and should be a great treat.

The staff was lovely, the Lamb Rack was heavenly and the ambience was worth the money spent. The river side views also added magic to the evening.

Lovely place to sit in the garden when the weather is good having drinks with family and friends.

Lovely setting, excellent food, and attentive service, but slightly lacking in courtesy. Visited whilst in Windsor with friends, who'd recommended stopping by. We all had afternoon tea, and were seated in one of the lovely bay window areas. The atmosphere was lively, and the venue busy - a positive sign that they are clearly good at what they do. The food and drink was excellent, and we weren't left hungry. We had a genuinely lovely afternoon here. Our only gripe was the service - although we were very well tended to (if not a little too well), simple questions were answered with a lack of courtesy, and with very little product knowledge, actually leaving us quite confused as to what we'd be paying for. Although this didn't leave a sour taste, we did come away remembering how the service hadn't matched the venue or the excellent food. None the less, I'd highly recommend a visit to anyone visiting Windsor.

Really nice restaurant. Had a cream tea here. The staff were courteous and polite and attentive. The setting is lovely by the river. The cream tea was delicious, would recommend it. There was a lovely 3 piece band for Sunday lunch music. Very good all round.

Beautiful place but was really disappointed by the treatment we received from two of the waitresses. They clearly didn't want to serve us or were probably feed up with the job.When we walked in,there was no one to show us to our table and when my friend approached one of the waitresses to ask of where we could seat,she didn't respond back but rather pointed towards the door assuming she meant to say we need to have waited there. After waiting for about 5 minutes we decided to see ourselves to the seat and the other waitresses obviously ignored us until another waiter walked in and apologised for her behaviour. We asked for a bottle of water while having our drinks which was never brought to our table. My friend flew all the way from Michigan and I had planned to take her for a Spa day in the hotel, but after the attitude we received at the restraunt I clearly couldn't spend my money in a place where I didn't feel valued.

A brilliant evening. We were really impressed from start to finish we had the Valentine package loved every mouthful. Staff were attentive but not in the way.

Had a celebration dinner Tuesday night, the attentive waiter Benny was flawless. Professional, friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing! The BEST lamb EVER!! Catered for friends special dietary requirements. Wine was deliciously smooth. Benny ensured that it was the perfect evening.
