Had a meal here this evening. It was very quiet in the restaurant but nicely decorated and well kept. The staff well very helpful and friendly quickly attending to any of our needs. The food was lovely, I had the ribs which is definitely recommend and for a full rack I’d say very well priced. I’ll definitely go here again.

Shocking! Ordered two beef roasts. Waiter came out and told us there was only one so we had one chicken and one beef. Brought the roasts out but hadn’t brought cutlery out so left us sitting waiting with food in front of us. Had been told that they were serving roasts till 7 and this was before 5 so would expect to have been told if they were unable to serve a complete roast. Ours was clearly the leftovers. Dried out Yorkshires.. Three roast potatoes which tasted like they had been sitting cooked for 4 hours. And seasonal veg clearly equated to a dried out piece of roast carrot and a plateful of peas. Possibly the worst roast I have ever had out! And all for £17 each!! Against my judgement I was asked not to complain by who I was with but spoke to young man that was supposed to be in charge about how shocking it was and all he could do was smile and nod.

Visited this evening and ordered food at 6.55pm. All good, friendly staff, didn't mention any issues with the kitchen. 7.45pm I went back to the bar to see how long it would be before we would get our food. Bar staff member went to the kitchen to check and I stand at the bar for another 10 minutes waiting for an answer. Tells me it will be 10 minutes. 35 minutes later still waiting for food and I go back in to ask for a refund, lady at the bar says there was a table of 4 who have been waiting 2 hours. I'm not exaggerating when I say there were less than 20 customers there at this point, I can't understand why there was a two hour wait, or why we weren't warned when we ordered. As I went in to check on the refund I could then see our food ready to go, the staff didn't say anything about it being ready and then we saw them take it to another table who arrived an hour later than us. Genuinely incredible. 15 minutes later we get to the Merry Monk, tell them we're starving and get food on the table in 5 minutes. Go there instead!!!! It's a shame as the staff are friendly and it's a location on the river

The people of Witchford clearly don’t know what a good Chinese takeaway is going by these reviews. It’s average at best. Don’t order anything with chicken as it’ll have a distinctly rubbery and wet texture - I assume they boil it before a quick fry in the sauce or rice you ordered with it, but they do it for too short a period of time so it is distinctly off putting. Prices are average for a takeaway. Portions are standard. I was a bit disappointed by the service size of the egg/boiled rice being smaller than the rices with other things in them. Service is average - you can order on the phone and someone who speaks good English takes the order. The waiting experience in the takeaway is a little sad. You can park on the street outside or in some parking spaces to the side. It’s also accessible by a wheelchair friendly ramp. Minimum card payment is £15. I always dislike this and how prawn crackers are basically a bribe to avoid card transaction fees or to reward larger orders.
