The Broadoak in Tameside

Booked table for 7, but only 6 chairs, so had to wait for someone to get us a chair. One of the waitresses was quite a bit rude, and kept trying to take food that wasn't finished with. Other staff lovely. Food was a bit average, the table said the Sweet and Sour chicken was very bland, Rag Pudding and steak and ale pie was good. The Vegan Lasagna was a bit mushy. No starters or desserts for vegans there. Could have been better, could have been worse. Will come back once the new menu is released and I'll amend this accordingly, could just be the end of season menu why it wasn't great. Will try again

HOTEL. NEVER AGAIN. We arrived at 7.30pm and asked when food is served til, we were told we only had 15 minutes left if we were wanting to order food in the pub, and after a long day of travelling, this isn’t something you want to hear. We felt it was a huge rush to then check in, be shown to our room and then get back downstairs in time before their kitchen closed. It felt as though we were being made to feel put off from ordering food so that their kitchen could close. Food came out after a long wait despite being told about the kitchen closing, and when it did it was pretty abysmal. The chips were rock hard and tasted like they’d been sat all day and reheated! but what topped it all off was when we went back into the room to settle down for the night, we were faced with two single mattress’ (despite being advertised as a double bed) which had no mattress protectors and were covered in stains, including a blood stain. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and just asked for another bottom sheet and was given two, so they probably knew their mattresses were disgusting, but I could only use one as the other had a giant orange stain on. I slept for about 3 hours as I just felt dirty and uneasy about what we were lying on, I questioned if anything had even been washed. The shower was filthy and could do with an actual clean, the tiles were black, so this wasn’t used. I just don’t think there’s any excuse to not have mattress protectors and a clean bathroom if you’re a hotel?! I’ve already read back on previous reviews to see that this has already been mentioned to staff but didn’t get much of an apology or refund for such dirty conditions, so hopefully an added bad review will encourage staff to do the basics and do better.

We booked a table for myself and daughter . Food was delicious ,staff were very attentive and we had a thoroughly chilled evening .

This place has the rudest bar staff that I have ever encountered!!!

Called in for the Sunday roast and it was excellent. Generous portions and cooked to perfection, couldn’t fault it, well done! Friendly and efficient staff added to the welcoming atmosphere of the place and everywhere was spotless A very enjoyable visit.

Sunday lunch We had an excellent lunch and desert. Very good value. The beef was very good cooked to perfection and lovely gravy. One of the best Sunday lunchesI have had in a long time. The cheesecake was excellent too. Friendly staff good service. I will be definitely be returning here.

Had a lovely starter and main meal the food was lovely.and the staff couldn't do enough for us , really pleasant and good mannered would recommend well worth the money .

Went back to the Broadoak to try the new menu, I can’t tell you what a difference it has made and how delicious the food was (I am such a fussy eater) I had the chicken burger and my partner had the chicken stir fry and both looked beautiful and tasted so nice. Puddings are my things and the cookie dough is the best I’ve tasted (trust me I’ve tasted a lot) along with the cookie dough ice cream. For a party of 8 of us, the food arrived quickly and was presented lovely and every one was left feeling happy and full. Service was excellent and Suzanne our waitress was so attentive. Will definitely go back.

stayed here a couple months ago for my grandads funeral and it was £80 a night. the room was nice but dusty and had cobwebs, the room was meant to be cleaned daily but wasn’t, and the tea and coffee facilities were not replaced. we had the wake here and were appalled at the quality at the buffet for how expensive it was. they took it away without asking us first and did not package it up to take home which you would expect. pre-bagged salad and sandwich fillers probably store bought, the deserts were store bought and definitely not fresh (again, for the cost we expected better). we stayed all day and everyone was buying drinks (we also had a meal a few hours after the wake buffet) and we got asked to leave at 10pm because there “weren’t many people there and the pub would close soon” despite there being at least 10 other people there as well as about 12 of us. was once a good pub in ashton but has unfortunately gone down hill.

Can't vouch for the rooms, but the pub and food vastly improved under new ownership, but please re-introduce the Sunday carvery

Delicious food and family friendly atmosphere with beautiful vintage decor. I had the nut roast Sunday dinner which is vegan friendly, unless like me (pescetarian), you add a Yorkshire pudd on top. 😋

Was in the Broadoak on Friday. Great atmosphere and excellent staff. Got chatting to lovely young gentleman in conversation andi . Wow does this man know how to run the show……. It’s a 10 from me..

The food was left out for 2 hours

Had my mums 70th here at the weekend, had a great night. Venue, staff, drinks and food all excellent.

It was my partners birthday today and looking online, the Sunday dinner looked inviting. We both ordered the Sunday dinner but when the carvery lady cut the beef, blood ran out of the meat and it put my partner off. We then ordered 2 different meals my partner ordered fish and chips, I ordered rag pudding, mash and mushy peas. The meals came and my partners chips looked like they were cooked on the previous Friday night and re-heated, the fish was caked in grease and was tasteless. My meal was eventful too, the mushy peas were straight out of a Bachelors tin, and the mash was the blandest potatoes I have ever tasted . The staff didn't even asked how the meals were, my partner left nearly everything on the plate. An absolutely disappointing birthday meal.

Stay 3 night rooms nice and clean bathroom need a little cleaning but a nice stay thank you kev and sue

We stayed last night in a very spacious king size room, lovely comfy bed and spotlessly clean. Excellent welcome tray with juice, biscuits, water and assorted tea and coffee etc. The bathroom was very clean but compared to the room itself felt a little tired We had a very pleasant meal and a great evening of live music David and Jessica looked after us brilliantly, nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly stay again if we are in the area. David did also mention that a major refurbishment is happening soon

Worst lunch I have had in a very long time Arrived at 12.30 to find the place empty and no staff till we shouted for service Food arrived eventually but one meal was cold and the other which was fish and chips was a matter of spot the fish!

Rooms are fabulous staff very friendly good parking and the food is excellent.

We had tea tonight and the buffalo buttermilk was gorgeous,the spice with the sweet waffle really is nice

Had a couple of nights here. Staff are excellent and bedrooms are superb. Food is great too, no problem parking everything you need on your doorstep. Definitely stay here again 👍

Had an evening meal, service was excellent, food was delicious, everything was spot on with our order even after we asked for certain items to be left off the plate. Cannot fault, will visit again

Visited here for Sunday lunch with family. From the minute we walked in the team were welcoming and friendly. The carvery was excellent, the meat was beautifully tender and plenty of choice. The fish and chips and scampi were enormous portions. Great visit will certainly be returning.

We had a special birthday celebration last night for our mum. The Broadoake really pulled out all the stops. We had a fabulous evening all round. Excellent service, food and lovely atmosphere! We couldn't have enjoyed it more. Some stayed over and said the rooms are beautiful and beds really comfortable. Thank you so much from us all xxx

I used to live very close by to this hotel 50 years ago as l now live on the south downs in Sussex. l was visiting with my family from over seas from Australia, and they enjoyed the evening .we had a traditional Manchester dish.name it if you can !!!!.

I took 3 gentlemen for Christmas day lunch. It was absolutely diabolical. They had a total of £400 for 5 of us. It was a welcomed treat for the gentlemen we support as they hadn't been able to go out since lockdown. It was the worst experience ever for all of us. The food was terrible and we waited an hour and a half for starters, then another hour for the main meal. Myself and my colleague have complained but only got a sorry. No compensation or part refund offered. Terrible.
