We went on a hunt for icecream and stumbled across this brightly decorated cafe and just had to go in! My son and I chose milkshakes and my husband had a huge freakshake. It looked incredible! There are also paninis, baguettes and jacket potatoes on offer if you wanted to pop in for lunch and a massive selection of retro sweets to buy and take home. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

A fun if not potentially fattening addition to Ilfracombes high street!Thoughtfully decorated with candy pink carpet, interesting spider web effect lights and a couple of comfy sofas. Popped in for a coffee but was soon swayed into having one of the many fabulous milkshakes on offer. My peanut butter shake was pretty tame considering the choice I was faced with, simply put, what ever you fancy in a shake, they will make it for you. Chocolate bars, Twix, Crunchie and Mars bars to name a few, even donuts and gobstoppers!I would think a knife and fork is supplied along with the straw!I also noticed a good selection of jacket potatoes, pannines and sandwiches on the menu too.It was a really enjoyable visit as, if like me, you sat looking at the huge amount of sweetie jars behind the counter and reminisced about the ones you used to buy on the way to school many years ago!Chris and John, the owners were very polite and friendly, coming over for a chat inbetween clearing tables. They are both clearly passionate about what they do, serving eco coffee that is unique to them and striving to make sure everyone has a great experience in the Candy Cafe.Lovely people, lovely place.

Great place to spend a few hours with a wide variety of beverages and food to choose from. John and Chris were very friendly and welcoming different to a lot of small places and were in no rush to get us out. Would defiantly visit again.

The Candy Cafe’s the name and candy is predominantly the game, but this little cafe in Ilfracome has much more to offer, Panini, Jacket Potatoes, Cake and Ice Cream along with the Freakshake, the what, the Freakshake, a milk shake reimagined (see photo) lesser calorie options are available. Great service and hospitality from Chris and John who make up your order in front of you. An additional bonus is the jars and jars of retro sweets. This new business is one to watch

We took the kids in for freakshakes on a Sunday afternoon and they absolutely loved them, throughly enjoyed ourselves! Great little shop with so much to offer and service with 2 very lovely smiles ... we were so impressed we ordered our lunch to take out the following day whilst working and I’ve got to say it did not disappoint, really good quality at very reasonable prices, we look forward to trying some more tasty bites from the menu! Good luck guys a breath of fresh air xxx

We stumbled upon this cafe during a weekend in Ilfracombe, thought it looked fun so went in to investigate. If you have children, definitely bring them here! Shelves of "retro" sweets and amazing shakes. We only went in for baguettes and drinks, and that was done well, too. We got chatting with one of the owners who explained this was a new venture for them. You deserve to do well - good luck and we will be back when we are next in town.

Whilst the food was great and the menu exciting, we were disappointed with the time it took (nearly an hour) for a simple jacket potato.

The wind was blowing so hard that I couldn't breathe, so I went into the teahouse for a moment! I ordered a bacon sausage sandwich and it was delicious... 3 hours later, 3 of the 4 people got food poisoning and were vomiting and having diarrhea and making a fuss. The next day, I canceled the entire trip and came home. This was the second food poisoning in my life since I got food poisoning after eating raw raw fish in the middle of summer. Even though it was winter and I was eating cooked food, I was really throwing up. It's as big as the body ㅠㅠ Be careful with your food... … …

We recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at the Boathouse with our family. We have to say the food was excellent with a broad range of delicious options and an excellent wine menu. We were looked after by Simon and he and his colleagues were very attentive. It is a lovely restaurant and would thoroughly recommend it.

Stumbled across the cafe when we arrived in Ilfracombe and needed coffee. Quaint and characterful and clearly has it's regular customers. Coffee was good and hot but the homemade Eccles cake was amazing! The other treats looked good too. Coming across The Naked Cake cafe was the best thing about Ilfracombe which was otherwise, tatty and very down at heel.

Lilico’s used to be one of my favourite dinner spots in Barnstaple. The tapas dishes were amazing and there was always a good atmosphere so when a friend suggested we go here with our partners for dinner we thought we’d give it a go, first time since it has been taken over by someone else and well let’s just say it will also be the last. Food was bland, probably the worst I have ever had. Cocktail menu was boring. Staff were miserable. And it was dead in there. Such a shame that Lilicos has been ran down into the ground.
