The Castle Inn in Waverley

Had a lovely Sunday Lunch here. The atmosphere and furnishings are lovely and the staff were friendly, efficient and polite. Had the Sunday roast with extra cauliflower cheese, the menu had a good variety of choices and prices although slightly on high side compared to a normal Pub, were justified by the meal we had. We were travelling to Kent from Dorset and had a stopover for lunch in Farnham which proved to be a great choice.

Enjoy the food and service, portion on children's menu is good. Would've liked some more vegetables with the meal to justify the cost..

We had a private room upstairs for our book group. We were very well looked after and had what we needed for a very enjoyable afternoon. Food and drinks when we wanted it and enough time to discuss the book!

Decor stylish but on our visit it was noisy due to disruptive children in centre of restaurant. Full English and pancake brunches were fine, vegan offering adequate as they’d run out of avocado, had no vegan spread for her blackened toast and offered no extra items for removing the eggs and having no avocado. Consequently we negotiated a reduction in cost. The coffee was ok, cups small.

Super disappointed with the Castle. First time visiting after hearing some good reviews and it was so disappointing. They’ve taken out the booths since Raymond Blanc’s restaurant so it’s all open plan and super echoey. Unfortunately for us a table of 4 screaming kids and 4 disinterested parents were right in the middle of the restaurant on a Saturday morning. Kids were even running around and under the table screaming and servers said nothing. Super hard to have a conversation with so much screaming Orange juice is out of a carton (no juicer or freshly pressed?), it tasted awful and so cheap. They do have vegan options but they consist of regular menu items of which they then just take stuff off the plate, super uninspiring and low effort from the chefs. My vegan breakfast they took off eggs, took off avocado (which they didn’t even tell me about but I noticed when it arrived that it was missing and had to ask to which they then said they’d just ran out), toast was really burnt and dry and they had no vegan butter at all. It’s such poor service to make vegan options which consists of taking things off the plate and not replacing it with anything or adding any extra. Vegan sausages were also out of a packet and not kitchen made. So my plate consisted of one small hash brown, one tiny pot of baked beans, two packet sausages, cold wet spinach and 2 bits of burnt toast. I could have made much better at home! Rest of the food was unbelievably average. Service was average, waitress unfortunately didn’t know anything about the menu. Also they don’t have a daytime drinks menu, eg for brunch I wanted to see what drinks they had, waitress didn’t know and no menu meant I had to guess off the top of my head! Also they haven’t fixed the toilets since the last restaurant as they’re absolutely freezing and several degrees colder than the main restaurant The only good thing was the decor is absolutely stunning

Fantastic night - Charlotte Prince & Izzy Shaw were brilliant hosts & catered for a group of 10 really well. Excellent night, huge fans of the place. We will be back!

Fantastic visit for breakfast/brunch while I was in town. This was my first experience at The Castle and I found it had a lovely atmosphere, the staff were attentive and the food was really tasty and fresh. Would visit again when in the area

Over all a really lovely place. Good meal sizes. I've eaten here a few times now as I live in the town and I've never had a bad meal. We went in today for their Sunday roast and the roast on a whole was good. Fair portion sizes, the meal and roasties were Devine! My only negatives were it wasn't hot. It wasn't cold by any means but it wasn't hot, it was warm. And the veg was a little too al dente for me. The Brussels you couldn't get a knife through. But the meal itself was lovely. Great atmosphere especially over the festive season. Very quick service too. Will be back for sure.

Decent brunch menu and nice indoor decor

We booked one of the private dining rooms for 24 people for a special 80th Birthday celebration. From initial booking all the way through to the evening Demelza was on hand to assist with food orders and special requests. All the staff were brilliant, Emma looked after us for the evening. A great asset to the team. Food was really good, we were all very happy with our choices. Hats off to the chefs as the pub was extremely busy. My mother in law had a super evening Thank you

We had not been to this venue for many years, but thought we would give it a try in its new guise as the Castle. My wife and I went for lunch with a friend and I must say had a very pleasant experience. We all had three different courses and it was all excellent, the sticky toffee pudding is to die for! The service was efficient and friendly. My one minor criticism is that it could have been a little warmer, especially in the toilets, but I seem to recall that this building always was a little less than cosy. It is definitely now our go to local restaurant.

Love the small plates.. really family , dog friendly . Chips are brilliant, cauliflower small plate is seriously yum. Go to every Saturday

The Castle was a great place for lunch. We were there with old friends, and the atmosphere was ideal - were not rushed out at the end of the meal. Food was good and Charlotte, our waitress, an ideal hostess. So good, in fact, that we went back for dinner.

One of the best brunches I have had. The company was also the best with son, daughter in law and grandson.

Great decor, I had a amazing dinner here this Sunday + amazing desserts the staff were kind enough to manage to make me a banana sundae which wasn't even on the menu anymore

My partner and I visited here on a Saturday night. We ordered the duck and chicken terrine to start, I then had the blade of beef with mash and my partner had the pork belly. I can honestly say it was some of the most delicious food we’ve had in a while. The interior is stunning too. Would absolutely return

Lets start with the positives... The restaurant is beautifully decorated, wasn't too busy for a Saturday lunch and generally had a nice vibe. The menu has a great variety of options for grown ups and children. Unfortunately the service left alot to be desired. The waiting staff were incredibly slow and inattentive. We were told (after having to ask) there was a 30min wait on food which was surprising as they weren't at full capacity. Fast forward an hour later, some beautifully presented cold food arrived. Credit where credits due, the manager struck off all the food, plus a round of drinks from our bill as an apology. I'm sure with some more staff training this place could be an asset to the town.

The food was amazing and incredible value. As a coeliac it can be limiting but the kitchen had designed options that replicated the normal menu. I was dubious at first about a gluten free beef and ale pie in a normal restaurant but the server was also a coeliac and reassured me and it was more than worth it. I'm still drooling over the meal. 10/10 would recommend. Am going again.

Had my 30th Birthday celebrations upstairs at The Castle. The team couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Sophie in particular was brilliant and made sure everyone was looked after. Everyone had a brilliant time and the setting and decor made it a really special place to celebrate. Huge thanks to the whole team and would recommend a party at The Castle again and again!

One of the best brunches we’ve eaten. Fantastic service - we were well looked after even with a large pre wedding party in the garden.

I ate here on a Wednesday evening we had a meal from the deal menu and it was all very nice. I will defiantly be back.

We went this Friday night to celebrate an occasion - there were 11 of us including with allergies and we were treated exceptionally! Lovely atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. It felt like the perfect place to be to start the weekend off on a high. Staff were courteous, friendly and funny!Food was amazing we didn’t all have room for pudding! So great to have a quality establishment like this in Farnham

Four of us had a lovely meal, with great service. I had fish and chips which was lovely, batter was perfect not too much. I also had sticky toffee pudding, delicious and not too big, perfect ! Lovely evening Thank you!

Me and my family had a beautiful set lunch here it was very delicious and fairly reasonable price also considering the amount of food you get.

Went here for my friends birthday staff were accommodating and good food

Cosy venue. Enjoyed Saturday night dinner. Entrees were very good - recommend the halloumi. Ordered the fish and chips for main - fish was nicely cooked and good portion size. I also tried the duck which was perfectly cooked and served with baby carrots which were flavoursome (and comically small.) This experience made me feel like King of The Castle.

Me and my family dined here and we had the mid week set menu. The food was delicious, attentive staff and beautiful atmosphere will be back again.

We visited The Castle on Sunday for a family meal . We had a fantastic server (from Slovakia) he was so friendly& helpful he couldn't do enough for us ! Food was amazing also!

Arrived here without pre-booking. Ordered lunch of haddock and chips and peas which was well cooked. Menu is extensive. Service was excellent as was atmosphere. Really quite busy dining for a Monday lunchtime.

Lovely venue for family get together, great indoor space and an amazing garden courtyard. Lunchtime 2 or 3 course set menu offering amazing value these days. Great friendly staff of differing heights. 10 out of 10.

Popped in here for a drink as we saw the garden had recently been opened up. They have done a really good job with the courtyard and garden it is a lovely space. Decided to have some lunch and was surprised at the quality and reasonable value (for the location). Would not hesitate to go back.

This is our second visit to the best pub in Farnham. The pub is just beautiful and the garden area is stunning. I ordered the chorizo burger and my husband ordered the veggie pie. Both were delicious. The staff are extremely helpful and attentive. I would certify recommend a visit to this lovely pub.

been before always excellent, this time service quite slow and husband had chicken and when nearly finished noticed blood on the bone. this should not be like this so did not finish the meal. pointed out at the end as no one came back to see how how meal was. said this was quite normal after checking with the chef but we were not happy with the response. they removed the charge for the meal as a good gesture.

Slow service. On the whole the food was good but the duck was tough - we needed steak knives. But the atmosphere was good and staff were pleasant.

My daughter took me out for a meal at this lovely venue in Farnham as an early Father's day treat. It was wonderful. The atmosphere, service and meals were top class and I would highly recommend it. I would particularly like to commend and to thank Sammy, who looked after us. She was friendly, attentive and professional and made our visit even more special.

Came here for a meal on Sunday 14th April, the night before my sisters wedding. They accommodated us for a group 25 people with one weeks notice after we were let down by another venue. The food was great quality despite the amount of people and the staff were so organised and friendly. Thank you so much for saving our evening.

I honestly can’t rate this highly enough, the food was superb and the service fantastic. Milos who looked after us was amazing, the attention to detail was incredible, we felt like royalty. The pricing was very reasonable. We had a fantastic night. Would highly recommend.

My folks were celebrating a special wedding anniversary and wanted a small intimate evening with family and close friends. We decided to go to the Castle in Farnham as they have a spectacular room for small private functions. The room was exquisite, roomy enough to gather comfortably yet still intimate. The Decor is spectacular and the service we received was second to none. I would like to thank the entire team at the Castle for making our evening truly memorable and making my folks feel so special, absolutely 5 star. I cannot recommend the castle strongly enough you simply have to try it. Well done team 🎉

Not been for a while the restaurant is lovely however food average. Also when 5 people have one drink and a main course do not appreciate the service charge so we asked if it could be removed and we would leave an amount of our choice. The girl who took our bill away came back with it still on the receipt so we asked again and she made a big deal about it so quite frankly they were lucky we left anything for the service at all. All in all probably won’t return.

Nice restaurant, good food, good atmosphere. A bit on the pricey side.

I cannot stand expensive overly priced venues that don’t take Amex. Really disappointed at the venue given the above I just think it’s a joke when you think you can get away with the above, immediately the whole night is ruined. If you don’t take Amex and try to be a posh venue at least say this at the start. Poor service, pricey drinks, average food.

It’s laughable that you charge £9.75 for a pint and a small soft drink and then don’t accept Amex. Tells you all you need to know about somewhere.

Easter Sunday Lunch with family, food and service excellent, staff tentative, ambiance great, always one of the consistent best in Farnham.

Nice venue (Farnham) , friendly and helpful staff. Food standard pub fare but decent size and quality. May want to change the blinds on South facing windows for Summer as it was uncomfortable for one guest and the blinds were decorative not functional.

Bar staff are nice. We ordered a couple of pints and chips. The chips arrived raw in the middle - pretty embarrassing for the kitchen staff not to be able to cook chips. I probably won’t bother ordering food here again if they can’t get the ultra basics right.

Had our group AGM in the library room. Very responsive in terms of preparation and great food and service on the day.

Nice pub, we stopped in for a drink whilst away for the night. Service was great, nice staff. Beer was lovely!

Delighted with our recent booking in the private dining room at the Castle. Such a fantastic space for hosting a family birthday. Milos and the team were brilliant. Really attentive and kept asking if we needed anything. Food was fabulous too, really impressed, especially as there were 17 of us! Would definitely recommend.

Lovely Mother's Day lunch with my family

Although well presented, some of the food was strangely tasteless. The goats cheese tart has zero flavour of any goats cheese whatsoever although visible on the tart. The chocolate cheesecake seemed to have been made without any chocolate in taste or visible anywhere. Very strange. No, we don’t have early onsite Covid :-) All at our table agreed that the same dishes lacked any flavour whereas others were fine. Strongly suggest the chef tastes the food.

We visited Wednesday 6th March 24 for my 22nd birthday. Didn’t catch the name of the lady or young man who served us but the were both incredible! So attentive, efficient and couldn’t do enough for us. Food was insane and such a relaxed atmosphere. Haven’t been since the refurb but exceeded my expectations. Great job guys

Great food, beautiful venue, wonderful service

The staff made my 70th birthday celebration an absolute delight. Attentive without being obsequious, and a few little extras thrown in. Gorgeous roast dinner and a candle in my pudding!

We had a lovely evening at The Castle I reserved some tables for my husband’s Birthday drinks, we had about 35 guests. The staff were brilliant and I ordered some nibbles which we had on the tables. Everything went to plan and they brought out the cake and sung Happy Birthday. Perfect evening, will def go again x

I booked the Library for a private dinner for my 30th birthday. It was a great space to be able to decorate and be looked after. We got to choose from a really nice set menu and the food did not disappoint! I absolutely loved everything I had and really enjoyed my birthday meal. The staff were helpful and I would book again.

The food was OK, but some of the starters were a little bland given the price. Mains were good. Some of it was overpriced given what it was... Service was pedestrian, the waiter was a bit full of himself wanted banter and not paying attention so he forgot a starter for one of the younger family members, not great! Mains came off the pass very slowly and not together. Perhaps paying attention to the details and double checking the orders might be a better practice.

Have been a couple of times recently and always had good food and good service. Great location and comfortable surroundings. Overall better than the original Castle Inn

Staff were nice but food only average at best. Tempura prawns in normal fish batter Mains very plan flavour wise Desserts not great Not been for ages and regrettably, won’t be returning any time soon. 😞

I recently dined at a charming pub, and it exceeded my expectations, friendly staff created a welcoming atmosphere. The menu offered a delightful variety of pub classics, each dish prepared with precision and bursting with flavor. The portions were generous, and the presentation was impressive....

A truly uncomfortable and strange visit, we will not be returning. We were rushed out despite having booked a 2 hour slot and the restaurant area being half empty… our plates were cleared when 1 member of the table was still eating, staff coming over every 5/10 minutes asking if we wanted anything and then one waitress even asked if we wanted to the bill (at this point we had only just finished eating!!) Was honestly really uncomfortable and felt like we should just leave… not sure what the rush was and everyone at the table was baffled at the experience. Would not recommend.

Had a lovely lunch with a girlfriend. We shared different plates as always nice to have the opportunity to taste more from the menu. Loved the flowers on each table, the fire and the service. Delicious all round!

Had a great mass family pre-Christmas meal, with relatives from all over UK. Had an ideal spot to feel the atmosphere of the place but able to hold conversations. Really well looked after for such a big party. Good menu and excellent food.

Gorgeous Boxing Day lunch. All the dishes were well executed, hot and plentiful. Beautifully crisp skin on the seabass. Friendly efficient service, no glitches. Highly recommended
