The Church House Inn in Cheshire East

Stumbled across this place after walking the Macclesfield Forest circular and it didn't disappoint. Firstly dog friendly and they cleared a corner for us to keep our pooches out of the way. Menu is excellent and reasonably priced, freshly cooked British pub food, it arrived quickly and steaming hot. Portion sizes are on the larger side but excellent value for money. Would recommend a visit if you are in the are or looking for somewhere to drive to but I'd recommend booking as it was packed.

The food was fantastic, huge portions, the menu was fabulous too, great choice! Well done highly recommended. It was the Saturday before Christmas and the pub was so busy, but the service was excellent, well done to all the team involved xx

This is the second time we have eaten here in the last couple of months. We cannot fault it. Food,staff and atmosphere top marks. The singer was great will definitely be returning soon.

Not good . After finally reaching front of the queue, was told that what we wanted was no longer available. They had jusrt forgotten to take it off the board. Needed to queue again once we decided what we wanted.. Just left without eating Won't go again

We went for a family birthday meal now the pub has new landlords. The food was amazing, fresh and generous portions, the fish Tacos are a must. There wasn't a separate children's menu but they are happy to make smaller portions of the mains, my 9yr old had roast ham, egg & chips which he devoured. The ham was tasty, thick slices, fresh cooked chips and he declared it was the best he'd ever had. Staff were friendly and really engaging with my son. Will definitely be eating here again.

A little disappointed with our recent visit. We booked for a birthday dinner. Eight people for 4:30pm. There has been a lot of hype of late, new owners, new menu etc and we were looking forward to the evening. It started off well, the waitress was very attentive and the new landlord came over twice to chat but after our main, all went quiet. After what seemed an age, we asked the waitress if we could order desserts to be told, they had shut the kitchen as they had been so busy. I found this very unprofessional that they simply chose to not inform us. I expressed my disappointment to the waitress and the lady behind the bar who both said they would pass on my comments but the landlord was nowhere to be seen. Quite rude really

All our party were very impressed with the quality of the food. The menu gave a great choice including the usual pub classics but also some more in keeping with a restaurant. Local Wincle beer went down very smoothly. It is a traditional pub which we really enjoyed.

All the tables were reserved for specific times, as we only went for drinks, we were limited to seating, we sat outside, there were heaters.l, which was fortunate, AZ ig was getting cold. We left as there was a power cut.

Lovely pub grub after walk around Teggs nose. Proper food. Gorgeous beef onion gravy sandwich. So homely could have stayed there all day. Great friendly service.

Nice atmosphere, friendly, good food. Staff in Halloween outfits, really good vibe about the place. The food and drink was super. We just turned up but we were lucky to get a table. Recommend booking at busy times.

First time visiting will not be the last! Lovely atmosphere, warm and welcoming. All the staff friendly. Had a lovely home cooked lunch. Fish and Chips the best ever according to my hubby. Will definitely return in the future.

Popped in on cutty night. Excellent chicken jalfrezi. Very reasonably priced. Nice glass of wine included!!

We had a fabulous meal here, I had the Venison sausages, absolutely delicious, my wife had the Venison burger, and that was absolutely amazing! We will be returning with friends very soon. Thanks for great hospitality.

Had lunch at the church house saturday the food and service was excellent, the steak and ale pie was delicious, we will be back again soon.

Fabulous pub with good outdoor seating areas. The beer and the food were very good too so I certainly recommend a visit to this pub.

Very friendly local with fab food! We and our dogs were warmly welcomed and the dogs were treated to a biscuit. My lasagne was generous and full of flavour. Everyone's meals looked amazing and the menu was varied.

What an amazing pub this is these days - fantastic atmosphere last night especially with the brilliant MaccWoodfleet band playing a fantastic set that really got people dancing. Bar was v busy but managed well with plenty of staff working hard. Not been here for a few years but definitely coming back!

We stayed over in our van on Wednesday and had a lovely time. Food was great, service excellent with really hard working staff. Bonus that the toilets were open 24hrs and they were very dog friendly

Fab stopover in our VW in their car park. Highly recommend - our best stopover so far - access to toilets 24 hours and access to water tap. Need to book table in advance as this pub is definitely on the up. Packed out on a Thursday evening and hugely popular with locals supporting the new owners. Very hardworking friendly staff, good food including vegan option - the steak and ale pie was gorgeous and good value at £15. Lovely garden - lots of seating some under cover, kids and dog-friendly (dog treats available) and lovely location.

I went to the Church House today for Sunday Lunch it was really good !! My first time visiting & it will not be the last !! It was excellent value for money & brilliant service . Thank you so much .

What a find! We stayed overnight in our Campervan and couldn’t have been made more welcome by Kirsten and Sean and their team. Even the locals didn’t bite us southern softies 🤣 Even the chip butties went down a storm!

We stayed overnight here in our campervan. Spaces in their camper-friendly car park is first come first served but we called ahead to let them know, as well as to book a table for dinner that evening and a Sunday roast the next day (which was absolutely delicious by the way!). The service from the staff were second to none but what really stuck out to us was the amazing hospitality by the new landlords, Sean & Kristen, who are doing a fantastic job of running the place 👏🏽 The food was gorgeous and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. There are also 24 hour toilets and a fresh water tap available. We recommend this lovely pub stop to anyone passing through or wanting to visit the beautiful local area. Thank you to all at Church House! We'll definitely be back soon ❤️

Stayed overnight in the campervan as permitted. Lovely home cooked food, friendly and helpful staff nice location. Will definitely be back. Can highly recommend.

My first visit and wow , cosy indoors and nice garden at the rear , food was excellent had The Steak & Ale Pie , service excellent very hospitable landlady , Many other items on the menu I wanted so will be back 👍👍

Lovely new owners(last 2 months) opened up especially for our running group🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻, a real welcome with hearty food and great beer🍻. Lunchtime food also very good. Quiet but accessible location if walking, running or cycling. Dogs now welcome 🐾👍🏻. A proper pub. Highly recommend

Our first time here What can I say but fantastic ,welcoming,friendly people including all the locals , Food outstanding prices reasonable, service fast,presentation great , We stopped in out vw transporter in the car park no issues pretty good car park little slope at the top but nothing too bad , My husband booked night before so when we arrived we went straight in to welcome ourselves had a few drinks , Very dog friendly our dog got her own fan club

What a cracking pub! Visited on the way back home from Glasgow to Herts and the landlords couldn't have been more welcoming. I'll definitely be making it my regular stopover on future trips.

Called in with friends for a quick pint, stayed a bit longer, great hospitality and a good selection of beer, highly recommend. Not sure if dog friendly, would be back if this is the case,👍

Lovely pub to end a long walk in the beautiful surrounding area. They have a good selection of beers and the menu is nice. I really like the chips here too. The staff are really friendly here too and happy to help. They have a covered outdoor area and a play area if you have kids. I’m 90% sure that they have heaters out there too. All in all, a lovely pub.

Nice food,nothing special was after 12pm and some food was on the menu but not yet prepared.

I gave 3 stars for the food which we all enjoyed but we ordered and was initially charged for a ciabatta prawn sandwiche but a sliced bread sandwich arrived. Service was good but it wasn't noticed our order wasn't correct. However when I pointed it out at the time of payment it was sorted quickly and with an apology. We had two different meat pies off the specials board, very tasty, but we really enjoy vegetables so would have liked a larger portion. (I know some people don't eat much veg) The atmosphere was quiet for a Saturday afternoon. We did enjoy our visit but I was unable to get an alcohol free cider which lots of places stock now. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. I enjoyed seeing the history of the public house via the pictures on the wall and when I asked questions to the lady at the bar she was able to answer them. We would go again.

Having eaten here a few times (the Farmhouse Grill is amazing!!) so when my wife’s mum passed away and the funeral was at the church just down the road it was an obvious choice for the wake. What a fantastic effort by Shelagh and her team. She went to great lengths to ensure that it went without a hitch and the food was incredible, the quiche was absolutely fantastic, best we have ever tasted and the whole thing went perfectly in nice surroundings with a relaxed atmosphere. Just Perfect!!! Thanks to you all. Would highly recommend this venue for any type of function. Or just a great place to eat and enjoy very well prepared food and good drink for a social meal out.

What a nice pub to go and eat . The place was clean and tidy, and the staff was polite and pleasant. We ordered off the specials menu, which came out piping hot and tasted delicious 😋. If you get the right weather there's outside seating and a kids play area.

This afternoon we had a lovely meal at Church House. Unfortunately there was no Apple Crumble left and the chief came out to apologise. I thought this was a lovely touch as this doesn't often happen when you go to a pub. Thank you Church House what fantastic personal service. 🙂

On a canal boat holiday called in here and had a meal all 4 us had something different and they were all brilliant. Superb service from the lovely young lad at the back of the bar in this lovely welcoming pub.Thank you.

The food was shocking, might have been having an off day but I wouldn't of fed that to a scabby dog. The mushrooms was like rubber. Glad I got the lasagna

For a change of pace today my friend and I both scoffed down the farmhouse mixed grill at some pace despite the glorious sunshine beating down on our brows. I say a change of pace as the usual meal of choice is the steak & stilton pie special which name does not do it any justice as it is absolutely fandabydosy special. I’d go as far as saying the best countryside pub pie I’ve had. This place offers a warm welcome, fantastic fresh wholesome home cooking and value for money. A top choice of your looking for a relaxing countryside pub meal.

Went for a group Christmas set meal mid December. Three course. There were 18 of us and the meal was well organized and served on time, friendly and attentive waiters. The food was delicious. Really enjoyed it. What more can be said we all enjoyed our meals and will definitely be going back.

Have been going in this pub for 20 years as a local and the last 2-3 months the opening hours keep changing by the day and I am forced to go elsewhere,won't be going in again with my men,we are all very anyoyed.

Nice pub near teggs nose and macc forest. Dog friendly. The lad behind the bar even gave us a bowl of water Food looked lush but we didn't eat as just passing on the way home

As always the food was beautifully cooked, plenty of it and good beer on tap. Screens have been removed and it is as friendly as ever. Visited again, would recommend booking a table if wanting to eat on Sunday as they have a constant turnover of customers but as always the food was excellent. This is a great local pub which isn't very big so can get busy definitely recommend

Bar staff were friendly but that was it. My food was terrible, chips were soggy, overdone and greasy. I ordered the ribeye steak medium-rare, my nephew also ordered one to be rare. They were both well done and were like leather. I only ate one mouthful of my steak. When the owner came to clear the plates she asked if everything was okay, which I suspect was just an automatic response to clearing tables. I said 'no, the steak was massively overdone and showed her' she just said 'oh sorry about that' then proceeded to make small talk with someone else. Given that it was the most expensive thing on the menu I would have expected a bit more sincerity than ignoring my feedback.

A very friendly Pub where we ate Lunch after a walk with friends. We reserved the snug as we had 2 dogs. Very tasty good - fried goats cheese with dip & bowls of fries: fish & chips & beef fajitas with rice. All great - we were so full we couldn’t manage desserts! Helpful, cheerful & friendly Staff.
