Excellent food and service with a smile, very welcoming 😀

We stopped over on Roade on our way from Essex to Liverpool. Saw a review of the pub food so came in for dinner. It was an exceptional experience, the landlord was great, the locals were friendly and kind and I’ve not even got to the food yet! There were so many delicious sounding options, after much struggles I went for the Stilton and mushroom pie. OMFG is was delicious, proper homemade pie mash and gravy. The lady who was serving us was really lovely - kind and attentive, nothing too much trouble. As we now go up to Liverpool 2 or 3 times a year this is now going to be the only place we stop on the way there. Thank you all for your hospitality, kindness, and most importantly, out is this world pie ❤️

We met up with friends and had a beautiful Sunday lunch. The atmosphere was relaxed and we were able to take our time over lunch without being hurried. The food was delicious and plentiful. There was so much meat they even organised a doggy bag so that we could take home what we didn’t manage to eat. The food was piping hot, looked and tasted wonderful. All in all we had a good time, we would highly recommend it and we will be back.

Easily the no.1 place to eat in Northampton. Why is that? It's home cooked food, lovely cosy feel to the place and it's very reasonably priced. We've had the award winning fish and chips plus I had the chili this Xmas. It's lovely to eat outside in the summer. The inside is very warm, log burners and feels like you're in some kind of small palace. I'd 100% recommend eating here rather than going to a box standard menu pub.

Met up with my friends and chose The Cock at Roade as our meeting place. Five of us had starters and main courses. We all decided to choose from the extensive homemade pie menu, mine was Steak and Stilton whilst others had the Turkey and stuffing, mince beef and onion,. The food was delivered piping hot, lashings of gravy and delicious mash potatoes with seasonal veg. Very tasty . Excellent table service. Cosy setting. Definitely going back with family next week!

We had our work Christmas lunch at the Cock. All 8 of us were very impressed with the food, very generous portions and everything was delicious. The landlords are very welcoming and service was brilliant. Highly recommended.

Very disappointed. I am a coeliac .Went to the Cock two weeks ago and had an amazing meal. Went on Friday and they couldn’t guarantee the oil the chips would be fried in was not contaminated. After a talk with the chef we decided not to eat there.

What a fantastic friendly pub. This is a truly traditional English pub with an amazing atmosphere a truly friendly landlady. Great choice of beer including my pops favourite, a good old bombardier, and proper traditional homemade pies. Can't recommend highly enough, brilliant people food and beer 👍

We stopped on way through to Northampton for lunch, the food was absolutely spot on, we had fish and chips, plus choose a pie of the home cooked pie menu which was delicious The service was excellent👌, good beer choices and good value. Will return when next passing, wish I lived nearer so could eat here more often

Eaten there Saturday night and Sunday lunch... Both times, the food was great, the service was great, and great value for money.. Can't wait to go again..

The service was a little lacking, but the beer was cold and they got an extra start for having the Rugby on.

Another fantastic meal as usual, the additional Pie menu is outstanding and so varied. My wife had Steak and Stilton I went for the Fish and chips this time. Both so good. Also a really noticeable thing are the drink prices. Virtually 40% cheaper for a large glass of good white wine than some nearby Pubs. The service is always friendly and professional, so what more could you ask for.

Another fantastic meal at The Cock, 11 of us went for a meal to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, food was delicious and the staff were friendly as always, it’s become a family tradition to spend birthdays here as they cater for everyone 😊

We visited the pub on Sunday 15th September for Sunday roast and we were not disappointed! The food and service was excellent. The landlord and lady were very welcoming and the waiting staff were charming. We will definitely be back. Best Sunday roast I have had for ages & the rest of our party agreed. Well done 👍

Went as a group of 10 after a 5 mile walk from the pub and returned back there for lunch. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Visiting the UK from Tasmania and was fortunate enough to eat at The Cock in Roade. From the moment I stepped into the pub I was greeted by the cheery staff and felt right at home. I ate the vege linguine which was absolutely delicious. Never have I experienced such a warm welcome into any pub. Chatty, smiley, helpful and super friendly. So much so we went back again. If I lived here, this would be my local 👍. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PUB.

I went to the pub's annual music festival in their garden, and it was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended.

We had checked the last orders time for meals and was told it was 4-30. We arrived at 4-00 to be told they had stopped doing food at 3-30. Not impressed at all. Just had drinks

17 members of our family gathered to celebrate multiple birthdays. We pre ordered our food which was served piping hot, was delicious and in good time, thanks to the the lovely landlady/chef Vanessa. Our waitress Hope was attentive and helpful. All in all a lovely afternoon!

I’m a solo traveller who needs to be in Northampton a few days at a time. I was made to feel so welcome by Vanessa and her team, having given them a call to ask if I could park my Moho overnight. Food was excellent, reasonably priced, and the bar area friendly and relaxed, an all round great visit and will definitely be back

Twice we have arrived with intention of having dinner. On both occasions told abruptly by owner and staff, 'not doing food we have a function on'. No offer to try to accommodate a simple sandwich or a bowl of chips. Then both visits we saw others being served food just 20 minutes later!! They clearly don't need the business and so are only serving friends. OR they need to change attitude and capability of staff to cope with a private function AND normal visitors. Won't bother again!

If you like pies and and friendly atmosphere in a village pub, this is where you go. There is a massive choice of pies (as well as lots of other food) but I had the pie and chips and it was amazing. Food is always lovely at this place. If you’re near Roade and hungry, get in there.

This place is great. Atmosphere is what you make but the staff there are super friendly. I love the food and the portions are not bad either. Cyclist friendly, Biker friendly. They are just really friendly. They have a nice beer garden with some covered seating. Plenty of car parking. Just a minute off the A508 in a car. It's worth a visit.

In the middle of the village with a spacious outside eating area and friendly helpful service, it feels well loved and part of the community.

Pies are off the scale, full of decent meats and gravy, can't recommend the pub enough. Recently had a meal for my parents 50th anniversary, Vanessa decorated table nicely and unexpectantly and went back a week later for my son's birthday.

We had a brilliant time here, they went out of their way to feed our kids when they had a wedding as well. The kids bolognaise was such a lovely home-cooked meal which they loved and the halloumi fries are insanely good. The garden is amazing for families. We'll be back, thank you for your hospitality!

This pub has a fantastic atmosphere and regular event nights. Beer garden is sunny and family friendly. The team are always friendly and welcoming. Food is excellent, the pies are amazing (we had minted lamb pie with mash). Seeded salad is great, very tasty. Chunky fries are delicious. Definitely recommend.

We were a group of 13 who pre-ordered, food and staff were lovely - the pies were especially great, stuffed full of tasty fillings.

Lovely lunch on Thursday. We bought our dog with us, and ate outside where she could join us. The kids enjoyed the play equipment. Staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back. Everyone left very full and happy.

First time of eating at this quaint village pub, the welcome was warm and friendly. The bar staff were chatty and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. I ordered a mixed grill, oh dear, wasn’t on the menu, but the charming landlady ( also head cook ), appeared with pen and paper, “I can make you one up”, and proceeded to reel off what I could choose, obviously I had everything! The rest of our party chose the ‘ award winning fish and chips’, my word, this looked like half a whale and chips! Every plate was hot and the food was steaming, and the chips were proper chunky, no complaints here. We were also tempted by the delicious desserts, all homemade, and we succumbed to the apple/caramel traybake, with thick custard, just as it should be. Definitely worth a visit, 5***** from me.

We turned up on a Monday night but were told that the kitchen was closed as they'd had a function on during the day. Vanessa then appeared and took pity on 3 hungry travellers and made us the best Cheese and Bacon Burgers they I have had in a long time!! They were absolutely delicious! Thank you Vanessa!!

I was part of a 20+ party, eating at The Cock. Menu had been sent out so we'd been able to prebook our meals. As we were arriving late, the starters had been served. All of the main meals were served together, a feat in itself as we were all having something different. Staff were pleasant & kind. Loved the point that she asked my name to find what we'd ordered, when paying then addressed by that. It just felt comfortable, although she was taking money😉

We booked a table for 4 then more and more family wanted to join us! We kept having to ring and change the numbers. Staff were as usual brilliant about it. Food as always was fab and we totally recommend The Cock for lovely food and great service. Thank you to all who made us welcome

We had a lovely meal at The Cock to celebrate Mums 80th Birthday. We had the 3 course Christmas dinner and the food was perfectly cooked and presented. The service was excellent, and the staff made a real effort to make Mums Birthday celebration extra special.

Our local landlady and her team supported us beautifully for our Gyms Christmas party. 20 peeps perfectly looked after. Vegans and vegetarians carefully looked after with personal menus. Room beautifully decorated, service was spot on and the food.....wow, just perfect. Each course was delicious and personally not eaten so much in a while but was too nice to leave. Great atmosphere and reports back from people was it was so much better than where they normally go and would love to come back. Yardley Powerlifting Gym has found its new get together home. Whilst the pub wasn't our first choice in the surrounding area, I'm glad we went. The head chef was incredibly accommodating with our dietary and child requirements. Beer was great, portion size was great and the loaded chips selections were fantastic and definitely not a 'side'! Could barely move post meal.

Visited on Saturday for the first time as our daughter had recently moved round the corner. Five main meals ordered and all five people commented how tasty and fresh the food was and the portion sizes , same with all five deserts (we couldn't fault a single thing). Very welcoming and friendly staff and management, I would definitely recommend trying this place out and we will be back on our next visit.

Well, I’ve had fish and chips many times, mainly from chip shops. This is the winner. The crispiest, lightest batter ever. Succulent morsels of fish with a banging tartare sauce. The best!!
