Excellent local but now appears to have been closed yet again by Humphrey Smith and his obsessive rules sadly (23rd July 2024) 😡😡

Quiet and no atmosphere at all, expensive also. Overall rubbish x

Just called in for a couple of pints with a friend, pub was fairly quiet, as would be expected on a Wednesday afternoon. Service was friendly, and drinks were good.

Ideal for a quiet 🍺 also sells non alcoholic drinks

Lovely spot for a great pint of stout! Fire blazing is always welcoming and staff always so helpful and friendly. Staff member, Amy is meticulous and goes out of her way. She remembers customers names and what they drink even if they've not been in for a while. She is so friendly and welcoming. She makes everyone feel at ease and gets a laugh out of them with her lovely personality. A great pub with great staff definitely a place worth calling in to.

It has a great manager and bar staff and Samuel Smith's Bitter is fantastic.

We love the Cricketer’s arms. It’s the best pub in Selby for a quiet pint, pleasant conversation, and lovely staff. We do our best to have a weekly pint there because it’s honestly so relaxing and the atmosphere is amazing.

Staff member on was amazing. But pub it's self smells of damp shame as was a lovely pint with lovely customers

Hi, this is Paul Burns. Having cycled from Sheffield myself, my brother and a friend spent a great night at The Cricketers Arms Selby. The beer was on top form and the staff really friendly and helpful. Special mention to Amy who found my glasses and has posted them to me. I would recommend to anyone.

SundY lunch for 6 was absolutely disgusting. Cold and undercooked veggies. Definitely would never go back even if the Sunday lunch was only£2.

Typical old style Pub with full range of Sam Smith's beers lagers and shorts Open fire to welcome when cold and well served by private areas for small groups to gather round without bothering others. Prices were good compared to other tied houses and a pleasant welcome from the staff. Very busy at weekends but a bit quieter during the week gives a relaxing feel. I'll certainly be going again

Had an unusually poor pint of Old Brewery bitter last night. When I mentioned it there was no apology, rather I was told it was the bottom of the barrel but they had to sell it all. So effectively"Hard Luck".

Always enjoyed my visits, but have a query re the bill on my last visit, so be seeing you on 18th Dec for a meal reservation in the name of Jane Redgrave.

Good old fashion pub staff very friendly open fire was going ,plenty of room to sit down just remember you need cash ,we did a lovely walk along selby canal so was nice just to find a sams pub in selby town centre

Really lovely staff especially the manager, Ruth. Yes it is a Sam Smith’s so only sells their products & there are some rules that you might not like. But - if you want a nice drink in a convivial atmosphere with other adults - this place is definitely worth a visit.

Used to love this pub. It's been shut down for some time due to the landlords policy on tenants. Finally its open again. Went in tonight. The place was dead. Five people in ourselves included. Love the chocolate stout but very expensive at £5.50, especially as they have shrunk the bottle from 500ml to 335ml. My wife had a small wine, which was it's usual dreadful standard, and cost £4.20. Our grandson called us while there and we were advised to stop as they have a no mobile policy. We left rapidly. Not a chance we will return to this pub or any other Sam Smiths pub. Dreadful places. Can't see the Cricketers Arms surviving very long. All wrong. Very sad.

A Samuel Smiths pub. Great ale & lager choice and fantastic freshly cooked food, all in warm surroundings. Emma the landlady is welcoming, as are the locals who make you feel at home. Plenty of character and charm that will have you smiling...

Cheap quality beer selection Dark mild sweet nice pint a man's pub no music or bandits and cheese and onion crisps they way they used to taste don't no how they keep the quality for the price.

Nice place to drop in after shopping. Does tend to get busy though

A proper local boozer. Polished wooden tables, claret leather seats, friendly staff and an abundance of cricketing memorabilia. Mine’s a Sov.

Fantastic pint, great Sunday carvery (small is enough for me and I'm a fair sized chap.) always seems to be people there.

Interesting pub in main street of Selby, with lots of cricket related pictures on the walls.

This is one of the few proper traditional pubs left in Selby town centre. The beers are all Samuel Smiths own brand, even the stout is own brand rather than certain Irish ones. But it's all good stuff. Being a traditional pub, it caters to an older clientèle and you shouldn't expect to find any lager louts in here.
