Lovely food, slightly cramped table, but great atmosphere and friendly service.

Another very nice stay at the crown on our way back down to Cornwall.

Great rooms and a nice pub, would highly recommend if your staying in that area.

We chose the pub for its location to support family meeting up from different locations early in the New Year after we weren’t able to meet over Christmas. I mentioned in my booking a special request and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our requirements. Food and service were outstanding. Thankyou everyone at The Crown for making our party of 9 meal so special.

This was our second visit to The Crown. It’s in a great location. The rooms are extremely comfortable and have everything you could need. The food is excellent and Kirsty and her team are friendly and efficient and make you feel so welcome. We will return.

Had a tremendous Boxing Day lunch with all the family, including those from the USA. Food was excellent as was the festive atmosphere. Would thoroughly recommend.

What a great stay hosted by the amazing team at The Crown Inn at Tolldown. The rooms, breakfasts and service throughout were of the highest quality and value for money. Thank you all. Stayed over xmas for a family getogether, everything was top rated, our room was 5 star as was breakfast. Xmas lunch with family was excellent and the staff were very attentive, especially with the young child in our party. This was the second xmas we have been at the Crown, and will happily come again.

Booking was easy, staff friendly at a very busy time. Location is easily found just off the M4 - the lack of views is made up for by the convenience of being an excellent pub so well placed.

We ate here for the second time after calling by on our way home. The food is incredible and service immaculate. All the staff so friendly, welcoming and attentive. The fire was roaring and the atmosphere was that of an old fashioned country pub ! Totally 10/10 We will be back for sure Merry Christmas to you all !

Three of us reserved a table for lunch at 1.00pm on Monday 16th December’24. We arrived early and had a very warm welcome by a very efficient female member of staff. Our table was ready for us. We had with us our small quiet dog who was also welcomed with a biscuit. Service was excellent, although the restaurant was very busy. Our starters were very enjoyable and well presented. Our mains again were amazing; very tasty and well presented. Overall we were very impressed and have made plans to return. The owners should feel proud of the staff at The Crown. Nothing was too much trouble for them and as each group of guests arrived they continued to offer the same high standard of welcome and presentation. Thank you staff. Your welcome made such a difference.

Good meeting place close to M4. Very comfortable, good parking and opening hours. Comprehensive menu that covers a good range of meal requirements. Food well prepared and presented by friendly staff. Enjoyed our visit and meal and hope to repeat the experience early in the new year.

I wanted to say what fantastic service I received it's always a God send. My journey was so stressful with the weather on Saturday and I was i had the warmest welcome from the manger. She is amazing! Everything you should be in hospitality! I go to a lot of place and this place is like a warm hug. The food and service is always 10 out 10. Thank for being amazing 👏 love ❤️ what you do, I've been a customer for over 10 years. I wish I could never leave.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. The service was efficient and delivered with a smile. The Christmas pie was delicious and the presentation of food was good. A very pleasant atmosphere. We will definitely return here when next in the area.

We were in the area for a couple of days visiting relatives and booked for an evening meal. Booking was simple and we were greeted by a lovely waitress who looked after us throughout our stay. We would highly recommend The Crown.

A late decision to stop on our way home from Bristol child care weekend. Warm welcome, lovely room , excellent evening meal served by friendly Oscar ! Good breakfast included and friendly service. We have already booked with friends so will be back in March 2025. So glad we decided to treat ourselves to one night and look forward to returning.

Great place, friendly staff, good location

Safe for celiacs. They have a dedicated gluten free fryer, use a gluten free beer for the beer battered fish. Lovely staff who take allergies and dietary restrictions seriously and actually understand cross-contamination and they all speak to each other so I didn't have to repeat myself to different staff regarding the dietary requirements. They ensured even the ketchup was safe for me to eat and were really kind and lovely. There wasn't a massive food menu but the food was really good and great quality. Prices were good too and so were the drinks and the ambience. Driving out of the pub was a bit trickier so be aware that if you come by car you need to join a rather busy, especially during Christmas time, road but it's doable. Great parking with lots of spaces, lovely views from the outside and you can't hear the road at all.

Unfortunately not a good experience. The waitress dropped 2 full pints of drink all over my husband. Glasses and all. I appreciate that accidents happen but the staff then just gave him some towels and said don't worry we won't charge you for the drinks. They weren't even our drinks! Tried to raise to another waitress that it wasn't acceptable and she just said I don't see what your issue is. She was very rude! My issue is you dropped 2 full drinks over my husband who then had to drive an hour home in soaking wet clothes and you didn't try to do anything to fix it except made a rude comment that you didn't make us pay for the drinks you spilled! Also, when we arrived we were asked would we like some water for the table. We weren't told this water would cost us nearly £4! Such a shame because it's a lovely little pub and food was nice.

Lovely place. Tastefully decorated. Very good food. Friendly and competent hard-working staff. Only negative comment is that they text you at 7:00 am (!) on the day you are due to arrive and on the day of departure, and also spam you with loads of emails.

What an amazing place. The food, service, ambience, the people. This is a must to visit if you're in the area. You'll need to book though as it's that good. We'd like to thank everyone for their extremely warm welcome, we can't wait to come again, next time we will be staying.

Me and my wife took the opportunity to have the Wednesday discount which is an excellent offer. We both enjoyed our meal very nice very good welcoming service by the ladies there., unfortunately, not their fault but understaffed . Just a suggestion that if you’re offering a discount for one night to bring in more custom, then perhaps make sure you have the staff to cover. But all in all very nice experience

We didn't stay overnight just a lunchtime visit. The pub is easily accessible from the motorway & close to NT Dyrham Park. Fast friendly service, limited menu but we all found something we wanted to order. Although the pb was busy we weren't kept waiting & the food was fine.

What a lovely place… really oldie world pub but with a nice clean fresh look !! We would come again. Rooms are super and definitely upmarket…. Only down side is the main road next to the pub but really at night you don’t hear it and you do get ear plugs for you on the night stand!!

Rooms were very good. There was a bit of noise from the road but nothing to worry about. There were 4 of us and the ones who had steak were very pleased with it, another had the vegetarian burger which was very good (although there was no side salad, just burger and chips). I had the pie of the day (beef and mushroom) and was disappointed with it because it came sitting on what looked like steamed spinach, the only vegetable, so it went very soggy round the bottom plus the gravy didn’t appear to be “real gravy” although I was assured it was.

Been done out by Butcombe and looks so much better. The food looks great and it has a really cosy feel to it. Good sized car park and is situated just off the motorway on the way into Bath so a fab location for a 'pick me up' meal. The cakes are great too!

A little disappointing in comparison with the last few times we have stayed at this inn. The accommodation is beginning to look a bit tired and there was no heating on in the pre- booked rooms when we arrived so they took hours to warm up. Food also had a few let downs e.g hard poached eggs at breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful though.

We stayed overnight after visiting Dyrham Park. The room was cosy, clean and comfortable with good facilities. Fresh milk was available in a flask and we liked the addition of ground coffee & cookies. Friendly staff, good food & service. The pub is on a busy road, but this did not affect our sleep. A bit difficult to get out of the junction in the morning, but it is convenient for the Bath and Bristol area. We would stay again. Thank you.

We ate in the pub with three children and three adults. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. The service was attentive and there were no delays.

This is a lovely Olde worldie pub, only draw back is getting out on A46 can be difficult during daytime hours however the menu is exciting, service is excellant. Reasonable prices. Crazy atmosphere

What a great inn from the 16th century. Very cozy atmosphere, very tasty food and loving staff. The rooms are in the neighboring building, extremely well equipped and very stylish. Every room has access to the outside, like a holiday apartment. Lots of parking space in front of it. The location is also very good, close to the M4. Bristol and Bath within easy reach. From there I also took a day trip to Cardiff and the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. I felt very, very comfortable there!

Convenient meeting spot for lunch along the M4. Very friendly service. I found my steak small, for the price. It was tasty, though a bit overdone for me. I did not complain as it was still a good steak. Would still come again, and would recommend. Lunch for 2, with soft drink and coffee was £80.

I enjoyed an excellent one night stay here. Everything was comfortable, great food at dinner and breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful. Easy, plentiful parking, accessible rooms makes for a very relaxing stay. I would not hesitate to recommend the Crown and look forward to my next visit.

Really good food, with a good range, and friendly service. A sign in the car park asks you to register your license plate number at the bar but that wasn't working when we visited. Be careful when rejoining the main road because it gets busy. A cosy, traditional environment. Booking highly advisable because it's a popular place.

Nice environment when I arrived at 7pm it was cold so I put the radiator on which was fine but it should have been on already we all had the fish and chips I felt it was too greasy but the service was nice £ 86.00 for three of us with a £ 20.00 birthday discount so quite good value as we had a desert and a few drinks as well

We had a lovely lunch at the restaurant on 16th October. The service was great, drinks were served quickly & the food was outstanding.

Had a lovely meal tonight as always. The pie was delicious (chicken and bacon) and I even got to try the crumble from the new menu which was so yummy. Lovely hotel, nice room, however the pillows could be softer and fluffier, but a comfortable bed. The food was great.

Exceptional service and wonderful food.

We have stayed 5 nights and we only have 2 things that could be improved. One is the noise of the bathroom extractor, which lasts about half an hour if not more, and the other is the breakfast. It is very English, and for them it is great, but there are those who prefer a little more variety: fruit, yogurts, bread with oil and sausage, homemade sweets from the area. Anyway, for the rest, the service, the dinners, the unbeatable environment. We had a lot to see and we will definitely return. Thank you for serving us. Regards

Met friends there for dinner there on a Monday evening , exceptionally friendly and welcoming staff, nothing was too much bother but the y left us in peace to chat, appearing to offer more drinks at just the right times. The food was good pub grub, nothing too fancy but genuine, well cooked pub food. Its also a very convenient location with ample parking

Place was great. Great service. Very friendly. Food was fantastic. Loved that the rooms were separate from the bar and very quiet. Only negative was that the pillows were rock hard and we could feel every spring in the bed.

We took our anniversary trip to the UK and Ireland and I can honestly say this pub & inn was the one of the highlights of our trip. It was our first time away from our kids after 6 years and it was the perfect quiet retreat. We felt at home immediately and when the weather was cold and rainy we would just stay at the inn because of how comfortable we were. The food is incredibly. Absolutely incredible. I’m hoping to come back soon

We love stopping at The Crown in Tolldown when we are travelling east from our home in South West Wales. It is a really convenient pit stop just off the M4. The food is always tasty, plenty of choice at a reasonable price.

Very friendly and obliging staff who looked after us well.The room was very clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. Excellent breakfast and dinner in very convivial surroundings. Thoroughly recommended.

We had a most enjoyable stay at the Crown Inn. The people are really nice, helpful and friendly; efficient service. Great breakfast. Had dinner in the restaurant twice, good meals both times. Interesting menu. Room comfortable and clean. Decent bed. Fresh milk available daily for tea/coffee. On the down side, WiFi in the room was on the slow side and required regular reconnection. As an older person, with creaking knees, getting in and out of the shower in bath is a challenge. A handle on the wall would be appreciated to assist the process. Otherwise, the shower was a delight, powerful with loads of hot water

Lovely place, so friendly. Female on her own with business and felt so welcome. Even had a croissant delivered to room in the evening as I needed to be up early and would be missing breakfast.

We were visiting Dryham Park and Bath Races. Excellent location for both of these places. We didnt stay over due to us living only approximately one hour away. The service and the food were excellent. We have a Butcombe pubs locality card which gives you 25 percent off food on a Wednesday however I would eat there any day. Keep up the good work.
