Went as a special treat with my partner. The food is pretty mediocre. We had the classic afternoon tea. The actual tea was excellent (Royal blend) but the food was very basic. The patisseries were particularly bland and just look good in photos. The price is ridiculous for the quality. Our initial waiter was very professional and polite. At the end of the meal we found it difficult to get the bill so asked a different waiter. The interaction with him was very inappropriate for a place like this. I was asked where I was from and I stated Venezuela. The waiter responded "oh you are from a country like Russia, communist". Considering the political state of Venezuela at present I found this comment very insensitive. I paid alot of money for the experience, to receive an inappropriate comment by someone not directly impacted by the political situation. I would be mindful of staff bringing up politics, particularly current events.

A disappointing experience. There was cake under our table from the previous guests, we had to ask twice for it to be cleaned up. The loose tea stayed in the teapot too long, leading to a bitter taste, the leaves should be strained after a few minutes to keep your tea from over-infusing. The scones were not fresh nor warm, overly sweet. A last detail, that should matter when following etiquette as this is a rather traditional place : men were served before women which felt a little rude.

I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason recently, and our waiter, Brendan, truly made it an unforgettable experience. From the moment we were seated, they were attentive, warm, and incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us through the tea selection with expert recommendations that perfectly suited our tastes.Their attention to detail was impeccable, ensuring that everything was served with precision and elegance. What stood out most was his genuine enthusiasm and kindness—he took the time to make us feel special, engaging us in delightful conversation while maintaining a flawless level of professionalism. The exceptional service elevated an already stunning setting into a truly magical experience. It’s rare to encounter someone so dedicated to ensuring their guests have the best possible time, and we can’t him them enough for making our visit to Fortnum & Mason so memorable.

2/5 for the texture and taste of the sandwiches, savouries and cake/pastries 2/5 for the service. At this price I expected far better groomed, liveried and white gloved servers 2/5 for the ambience. It was simply too crowded and noisy. The table for 3 was terribly small. The Queen would never take tea in such a place and would, like me, be appalled at the poor value for the high priced tea. 84 pounds for the savoury tea & 82 pounds for the afternoon tea.

Very disappointed with this experience that I had dreamed of doing for years. Almost €100 per person to eat sandwiches barely better than a sodebo, crazy scones and little pastries that are way too sweet. Frankly old-fashioned decor, impeccable service and luckily the tea is perfect. It is better to settle for tea at the café on the 1st floor. Tourist trap

We enjoyed our afternoon tea and shopping trip. The food and tea were good, and we enjoyed finding some goodies to take home. That being said, I wouldn’t go to tea again. The value of the experience didn’t align with the cost for me. It felt as if they stuck us in a back room, and we couldn’t even hear that piano music any longer. They placed us back there with these super loud groups of people, and we were only a party of two. The staff was friendly, and our service was good; however, I wasn’t blown away by the £84 per person price. I would go shopping again, but skip the tea.

A fun experience for first time tourists; however, the service was severely lacking and we were charged a compulsory 12.5% service fee. We were told that the afternoon tea sets would allow each of us to switch teas twice. But because we could never flag down our waitress and our requests were responded to so slowly, we were only able to switch teas once before being told they needed our table back. We also ordered four tea sets but were only given two sets of the top plate of items. We had to request the other two sets and we were told that we needed to leave before even receiving one of them. When they were delivered, the servers refused to clear any of the dishes on the table and just handed the new plates into our hands. Our waitress then immediately came by to pack them up and hand us the bill. In general, the food was mediocre but the tea selection was quite nice. We also tried the tea tasting experience but our waitress had to check three different times and get back to us on what this entailed since she kept giving incorrect information. This ate into our table time as well. Pretty disappointing and would not return for afternoon tea.

Not worth the price at all, AVOID THIS TOURIST TRAP. Food was pretty average considering that we paid almost £300 for 3 people with nothing extra, for that price you would expect something better. Tea was nice, but we were “hidden” in a back room that definitely killed the experience, we were the only people sitting in there while the main rooms looked way better, with music and better atmosphere. People might think this is the luxury afternoon tea experience but it’s not, book with time and go to the ritz instead. Here even the china set looks old and dirty. Conclusion, not worth the price at all.

She wouldn’t recommend teas when asked what goes best with each menu. I understand it’s the holidays and that they must be so busy, but she did not make us feel welcome. For the price you’re paying, it should be expected that they explain the menu and at least try to pretend like they want to be there. Poor experience, considering it’s within Fortnum & Mason you would expect a decent afternoon tea but it wasn’t the case. The arrival felt like a cattle market with people waiting for long time to be picked up with many empty tables, staff at the counter were indifferent and lacked warmth and hospitality. The afternoon tea was served well before the tea, our waitress Sara was attentive but the rest of the waiters were noticeably slow and disengaged avoiding eye contact. There was no management presence, the two managers (male) preferred to hide by the kitchen doors and look at their phones all the time, pretty embarrassing. Food was ok, nothing especial. At £84 per person (and only £76 at The Ritz!) the Jubilee Salon is a tourist trap and a complete rip off.

Our waitress paid more attention to a larger party at the next table offering them more sandwiches, champagne, tea etc, we were ignored! Does not live up to hype IMO. The food was just ok but nothing special or memorable and the experience itself was not up to par with other places where I have had afternoon tea in the same price range. Service was lacking given the price and how little they really need to do. The scones were served at the same time as everything else and were not even warm. If the store is busy [it was a zoo when we went] be prepared to wait forever for an elevator or walk up 4 flights of stairs to get to restaurant. At $80-plus dollars a head, seems they should have a dedicated elevator for the restaurant.

I found the quality of food and service were not as great as when we were here for afternoon tea six years ago. I’m not sure if it’s due to the fact that it was more crowded this time and maybe they were understaffed. It took a while to get served, and took even longer for our teas and food to arrive. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable (not uptight) and we had a great time overall. The setting is bright and there’s a pianist to serenade you for the tea experience. We were acknowledged right away by the front staff and we were able to get our table 10 minutes before our actual reserved time. The sandwiches were great, but the scones weren’t warm upon arrival, and the petit fours/desserts were way too sweet (although pretty). Somehow, we didn’t see the Battenburg cakes this round (maybe I missed it?), and I really wanted to try it. The portion sizes are great, so there’s technically no need for the all-you-can-eat. On a positive note, we like that there are different options of tea sets to choose from. Think we may opt for the afternoon tea experience at the Royal Exchange next time. The lifts are small and it may take a while to get into one, so reserve plenty of time for queuing for the lifts if you are unable to take the stairs. I still love shopping here though, and I will always think of F&M when I hear the words "afternoon tea".

This is one of the worst rip offs in London. £200 for two for a few bog standard sandwiches on bog standard white bread that were curling at the edges, some savoury scones and a pot of tepid tea in what is basically a department store cafe. If you want a special experience go to one of the grand hotels, forget this place. Purely for tourists and wide-eyed London day drippers.

Having not been to Fortnums for afternoon tea for a couple of years, was struck by how standards had dropped from my last visits. Of course the price has increased (what hasn’t this day and age) but the portions are smaller, the cakes and scones have shrunk considerably, ,the flavours are not as exquisite, infact we felt that a couple of foods on the afternoon tea and savoury tea menu were really dull - looked fab but tasted mediocre. We were particularly very disappointed at how tired the cutlery and tea sets were, faded and not looking their best. One particular silvery dish containing a spread was corroded and we did raise our concern that when scrapped with a knife, were we able to easily lift the corrosion therefore contaminating the food. Service was good, staff were helpful.

My first afternoon tea experience, and it was not worth the hype. The scone was the most disappointing part—tiny in size, hard, and dry. Even the sandwiches seemed kind of dry. I barely managed to finish the first one (considering the high cost of each item in the afternoon tea), but I couldn't bring myself to eat the second one. When I informed the waiter, he seemed he doesn't really care. Additionally, we weren't very hungry, but when I asked, the waiter insisted that we order one set per person. So, we ended up ordering two sets. However, I noticed other tables sharing just one set and ordering a side as an extra. I guess we could have done the same. I give 2 stars for the "experience." A few pieces were good, but overall, it was definitely not worth the hype. I paid over £180 ($230) for two sets of afternoon tea, and it was absolutely not worth the money.

Tea reserved for an occasion with Mom who is 80 years old. Promises kept on the magic of the place, the decor and the very warm and efficient service. But I only put 4 because: Although they are excellent, the scones are more like small cakes than traditional scones because they are very (too) sweet. On the other hand, the clotted cream was perfect The pastries are way too creamy. They are not “different” enough. Let me explain: There is cream in absolutely every pastry, except for the rose éclair which was very good. The finger sandwiches were delicious. We hadn't eaten everything so we asked to take away what was left. So we were told that our finger sandwiches could not be taken away. And therefore would be thrown away. What a shame, what a waste. Despite somehow managing to order a tea refill, it was never served to us. I had been looking forward to visiting this place for a long time, and it was supposed to be a special occasion to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Instead, it turned into a completely disappointing experience. I deeply regret wasting my money on this. 82 pounds sterling plus costs for a tea, a few sandwiches made with white bread, a few scones, and desserts that are too elaborate and special in terms of aromas which for me, who loves desserts of all types and from all countries, I don't like I had no pleasure eating them. Even if it was possible to ask for more "extra included in the price" I didn't have the slightest desire to do so. Afternoon Tea, a very expensive experience for an unjustified price. A piece of advice: go drink tea and some biscuits in a small tea room but avoid these Afternoon Teas.

Fun experience but not worth the price. The room was stuffy with lots of tables, but no views. Other floors were like a mad house with a lot of tourists! If you want afternoon tea, other locations are way better.

What a wonderful afternoon we had, staff were amazing so friendly and helpful. I had my 6 month old baby with us & the staff were extremely accommodating & so good with him. Food was delicious, along with the tea & bubbles. All in all an amazing afternoon tea.

Belinda - who looked after us was simply delightful. The service, food, ambience was amazing. It was my first visit to Fortnum and Mason. It certainly will not be my last. Thank you so much.

This is a bucket list experience that met all my expectations and more. The tea selection is extensive, and the server will help steer you in the right direction should you have questions. There are multiple menus to choose from for food, from gluten free to savoury, to high tea. The gluten free selection was absolutely amazing. The sandwiches were light, fluffy, and flavourful. The scones came out warm with a selection of jam, clotted cream, and lemon curd. The desserts were a gluten free girls dream! Refills for each selection are available at no cost, so come hungry!

This store is a delight for the eyes alone. You'll want to buy dozens of teas and cookies packed in lovely tins. If only they weren't so expensive.

Good but not as good as it should be for the price. The service and desserts really don’t live up to expectations. The piano player when you enter is amazing and the decor is so classy. The service was very sporadic for us. Our server disappeared completely for 20 minutes. Our water and teapots were all empty. I saw the mini scone my gluten-eating husband was served- the same one for 1£ in the bottom grocery floor of the store- umm we paid a lot to get that tiny scone. The people on either side of us were complaining about things to the staff- one lady requested a black cloth napkin since she didn’t want white lint on her black pants but they couldn’t find any. At the other table a lady sent back food for her vegetarian sister and was dissastisfied. I’m celiac and the food was ok- I enjoyed the sandwiches most, but the gf desserts were nothing special and overly sweet to where I couldn’t finish any. The gf scones were like bread, a bad texture. If you’re celiac, definitely go get cream tea at St. Ermin’s- great gf scones prepared in a separate gf kitchen! Cheaper too and beautiful chandeliers.

My husband and I celebrated my birthday at the Diamond Jubilee tea salon. Exceptional experience, everything perfect. A romantic and relaxing atmosphere with a very good pianist playing in the background. Delicious food, and excellent service. They also brought me a chocolate cupcake for my birthday. The teas were delicious and everything could be reordered several times. Super positive and pleasant experience.

Good tea quality, beautiful scenery, fine china, but some pretty large deal breakers. Mediocre food quality, and questionable service. To get into detail for starters the scones and bread are reheated and/or made too far in advance it changes the texture greatly. It’s almost appears reheated by a microwave dried out from the outside and overly moist in the inside. Perhaps my bar is too high but at this price point, it comes from the price points charged by the establishment. (They charge similar to some Michelin starred restaurants.) the service I received was 0 check ins after our tea was initially set. From there I basically had to flag down my waitress for any requests. I mean I waited 15 minutes for my check to come back. I highly cannot recommend high tea to anyone if this is the standard. For improvements recommend simplifying the menu to ensure items are semi-made to order and increasing team attentiveness given the amount of staff that are on duty.

Exquisitely civilised afternoon tea! Lovely food, delightful atmosphere and surroundings. Two of us shared a savoury and a traditional afternoon tea between us, which worked well - the savoury morsels were an absolute treat! Everyone else stuck to the traditional. Quite pricey, but absolutely worth it for the experience. Service slightly slow a couple of times (e.g. request for additional pots of tea), but did not detract in the slightest from a superb afternoon. Table of 6, including two Americans who were, quite frankly, bowled over!

One of the best pints of Guinness outside of Ireland. They do a really good hot sandwich as well, beef, ham etc. old school pub inside which can get really busy but for good reasons with a good outside bit to stand and people watch. Do not walk past this pub without stopping for a pint.

This was an excellent experience. We were 3 and decided to share the starters. The Eel sandwich is a must. We practically tasted all their starters and then went for the beef and venison Pie. It was delicious. I had the profiteroles as a dessert😋. The wine and cocktail choice was also excellent. And not to forget the wonderful service and people. Thank you!

Needed to organise Sunday roast in a pub for my Aussie visitors and the English family. I liked the look of the menu at The George as it had choice of meats (something which other pubs I looked at didn't have). We were seated upstairs fairly close to the kitchen but that wasn't a problem. The food was lovely - most of us had starters, all of which were very tasty. Then we all had roasts, for each of us the meat was cooked properly (it was explained that the roast beef would be served rare- so no surprises). The meals were a good size with all the trimmings and good Yorkshire puddings. We had a lovely wine and finished with a digestive which the barman helped us choose. The whole team were polite and attentive and they worked the floor as a team, so you weren't left waiting for your "server". We had the table from 12.45 until 4 when they explained they would need the table back by 4.30 - we didn't reel rushed and I'm sure if we hadn't have had to leave around that time anyway they would have helped us find a space in the bar. We will be back.
