The Diner in Hackney

Had a meal here last night with a couple of friends. Was quite a quiet atmosphere when we walked in but this didn’t deter us. We sat down, and the waitress came and took our order. We got our drinks and our mains, on top of that I ordered a side dish for myself. Here’s the thing, our drinks never turned up and neither did my side dish of popcorn chicken. The mains arrived after about 20 minutes but we were all very underwhelmed by them. I could’ve made a better burger for myself at home. When we requested the bill, at first the waitress actually brought it to us with the drinks and the side dish we had not received. She swiftly realised these were never brought to us and was apologetic. Too little too late really. The bill was then amended and we paid for the terrible food and experience. Oh and it gets worse. Just before we headed out I went to the restroom and was followed by another waitress/member of staff who said that, I wasn’t allowed to use the toilets unless I had eaten at the restaurant. I proceeded to tell her that I had had a meal in the diner, to which she responded that she hadn’t realised. We were literally sitting opposite the kitchen in the middle of the quiet diner, and one of the only groups there. I left angrily. I can only recommend to people that you should never eat at this restaurant. The staff, the food and the overall experience was horrendous.

Lovely male staff member served us this Sunday morning. He was so attentive and gently spoken, really what we needed with a hangover from hell! Good GRUB! And the most AMAZING milkshakes!!! Right in the centre of Spitalfields. Great!

Terrible experience here. The staff obviously did not want to be working, they were really rude. They wanted us to order by app but the app didn’t work so we had to get up and go get them to take our order. But they are willing to put a service charge on the bill. I got the Huevos Rancheros and it came out with a burnt tortilla and I couldn’t even eat it. So disappointing as had such a good experience at the diner in Camden.

We stopped here for a quick breakfast on a Sunday morning. The pancakes were delicious. The mars milkshake was amazing.

Had a lovely lunch here, the food was delicious as were the drinks. The staff were lovely and the venue is really cool.

My daughter and I had the good fortune to go to The Diner Shoreditch in our quest to find a restaurant that actually knows what "bacon" in the American sense is and even more important how to cook it. The Diner did not disappoint. I ordered a fried egg sunny side up, two servings of bacon, toast and orange juice. My daughter ordered buttermilk pancakes and coffee. The meals for us both were served quickly and both orders were hot. The fried egg was perfectly cooked and the bacon was just crispy delicious - heaven! A very generous portion of pancakes were served with cups of syrup. There were only two very minor problems - no jelly or marmalade for the toast (solved by dipping the toast in a cup of syrup) and the room space from the bench to the table was very small. Sawing off a few inches from each side of the tables would help! All you Americans out there who despair of locating an authentic American breakfast can find it here.

We popped by while staying in the area and we were seated really quickly. We both ordered a veggie burger, of which there were several options, and it was really good! The side of garlic butter fries is a must as well (but they are very strong!)

We went here on Friday night we had only just arrived in London for the weekend, we waited 10 minutes for a table , the food was amazing and the service was first class all staff were friendly and helpful we will definitely be back when we come down again, thank you for a fantastic meal

by far the best food we have had in London the chicken wings were amazing the young girl serving was lovely and everything about the experience was amazing portions are huge and well priced would definitely recommend just wish there was one in Ireland!

Food here is absolutely appalling. I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken with chips which had no seasoning or flavour whatsoever everything tested like it had come from a frozen packet and had just been stuck in the oven. Also, staff are not friendly and have an attitude. They never once asked us how our food was. This place makes KFC look like a 5* restaurant. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

This morning I woke needing a pancake fix. The buttermilk pancakes are huge and tasty. And the coffee is hot and strong. As Arnie would say, ‘I’ll be back.’

We visited here for the first time on Saturday after only ever visiting the Soho one previously. We brought our kids this time as well. They loved it, we loved it! The staff were really friendly and the food was really yummy. One improvement: the bottomless filter coffee - it would be good if the staff just kept topping it up like in an Americal diner, rather than having to ask for a top-up. Other than that is was brilliant.

Staff were lovely and the location was grabs. Had the hungry man breakfast, but wasn’t too keen on the bacon.

Yesterday we visited the diner for my brother birthday and was treated to outstanding service by Beata.

Visited here as was close to our hotel. Wasnt too busy so got a table straight away. Service was good, food was amazing. Snickers milkshake was incredible!

We came here on a busy Sunday morning, and were seated quickly by the hostess. Our waiter however took quite a long time to acknowledge us. When we ordered two “fresh squeezed orange juices” (which tasted distinctly store bought) and a jug of tap water, the juices were delivered to the wrong table, while the water never made it at all.

Went to The Diner with friends one evening. The place is well decorated and on entry the staff were friendly. Unfortunately we were put in a corner of the room and from then we were often neglected. The place was quiet and it seemed the staff had switched off.

Went there with a group of friends and seeing as we all love american breakfasts wanted to give this place ago. And boy do i regret it. Service was abysmal (had to wait ages to be served, then were forgotten and had to wait 70 minutes for our food), the waiter was rude, the food was horrible (who knew one could mess up pancakes this badly & that a place calling itself a diner would serve coloured high-fructose corn syrup instead of proper maple syrup) and the moment we had finished, we were already given the bill and made to feel unwelcome. Just as well because we couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Lovely afternoon brunch. One of the staff present was very helpful and pleasant. Lovely food and great milkshakes.

The Diner has a nice authentic American feel, service is helpful (see below), food was good and portions of fries, both French & sweet potato, were enormous ...get one to share between two unless you're really hungry. Re the service: we both wanted burgers and we don't like our burgers ruined by over-cooking. The Diner menu claims "the finest Speyside beef & ground daily", yet the starting point is they will only serve them well-done. We pointed out we eat regularly at other burger joints, such as Byron, Honest Burger, Hache, etc.) which will all cook burgers less on request, typically down to medium rare if you ask. We asked our server to make sure the chef knew we didn't want our burgers ruined and they arrived fine, nice & juicy. However, on a busier night or with less helpful service, would they have been overcooked? Don't know, and on the basis of our experience we'd go back to the Diner, hoping to get similar helpful service again. But if not, there's a Hache right across the road!

Tuvimos un evento de trabajo interno y tuvimos que atender a verduras, sin gluten y a quienes comen carne. Ordenamos en Deliveroo, pero nos pusimos en contacto con Shane, Davide y el equipo con un par de llamadas. El equipo organizó que las hamburguesas se redujeran a la mitad para que sea más fácil de distribuir / comer y luego se proporcionaron cubiertos y una botella de ketchup que fue realmente útil. Estuve realmente agradecido de que trataran nuestra solicitud y la cumplieran.

Fuimos a la cena para el desayuno en un viaje reciente a Londres. Genial para ver un restaurante omni con un menú vegetariano / vegano separado. Mi esposo y yo tuvimos la hamburguesa vegetariana de desayuno que parecía un riesgo porque sonaba un poco raro. Resulta que estaba delicioso, quien sabía que un panqueque en una hamburguesa podía ser tan agradable, la empanada que sabía a salchicha era encantadora y el queso de anacardo. Buen servicio y un ambiente más relajado que la sucursal de Camden donde hemos estado antes.

I had the best chicken waffles ever. My partner had the full English which we compared to our usual The Breakfast Club's full English... we decided BC greater quality, the Diner quantity. Still, I'd go back for the chicken waffles. Pancakes are larger too.

Great chips, cheesy and sweet potato. Shake was nice, could have been a little thicker though. Service was good. Toilets need a bit of work done to them, bit of TLC.

Stopped here for lunch...friendly service and very tasty food. Special veg and vegan menu available. Very tasty, lots of American favorites to choose from, good portions and reasonably priced. Nice !

I think this place has the most extensive meaty vegetarian & vegan options in London. They have a separate menu for the v/vg’s that offer an alternative for almost all meat meals. If you like seitan as a substitute you’ve found that awesome halfway house to meet friends that love diner food.

I came here on Saturday night with a group of 8 of us. We'd been for a few beers before but nothing wild. We got to the restaurant and asked for a table, the waitress said we could have a table but I wasn't allowed to drink as I was apparently drunk. As I said we'd had a few drinks but I wasn't any more or less drunk than anyone else in my group. Everyone on my table ordered food and drinks, but I wasn't allowed a drink. Something that was supposed to be a group night out meal had been ruined. I did place a food order but I then deiced I didn't want to stay as I felt victimised. I tried to discuss with the waitress that I wasn't drunk but she wouldn't listen. I ended up leaving in tears out of frustration. I'm an adult not a teenager and I've never been turned away from a bar in my life let alone a restaurant!! Really disappointed as I was recommended this restaurant and was very much looking forward to it.

I ordered the buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup and honey butter and they were absolutely delicious! The portion size was HUGE and the waitress came round and gave me extra maple syrup and honey butter without me asking. Very reasonably priced too considering the location and the sheer amount of food I got.

WOW, i had the best Vegan Junkfood experience here. I'm just looking for my next excuse to visit. Vegan & Non-vegans both satisfied with our menu choices. I had the Philly 'chease' sandwich and it was delicious.

I visit this restaurant quite often, great food, the best Oreo milkshake, good service and even better vibes. It’s a great place for a quick bite and has a great atmosphere. The place is quite small so you might want to call before visiting as it can get busy.

We were quite a big group (eight people) and we all had a nice experience.

Dined there on a recent business trip to the capital. Didn’t know till after that it was a chain, which made no difference but it did t give me the ‘cookie-cuter’ feeling of a chain. Fun food based around the American diner concept. Tasty burgers, delicious sweet potato fries, tangy homemade lemonade. Not bad value for London at a little under £18 each. Alcohol will always put a ‘sting in the tail’ in your bill in this city - beers from £4,50!

Came here on a spontaneous trip to the area and was very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was good, nice design to the restaurant interior. We were very surprised to discover the different range of items they have on offer, my partner is vegan and we often have trouble finding places to accommodate her requirements, so to find out they had a whole menu for them was brilliant. It was reasonably priced and tasted good. We ordered two milkshakes, to which my partner stated she couldn't believe it was dairy free it tasted so good! If in the area again would most definitely visit. Recommend highly.

The waiting time it’s terrible, me and my girlfriend just ordered 1 pasta and 2 chips and absolutely took 40 minutes for the food arrive! Such a waste of money. The worst experience ever. You guys should change your chefs and staffs! I’ll never recommend this restaurant for someone.

I could not give this a three as my food quality was amazing as i am a vegetarian the selection is great.

Went here after being turned away from Blues kitchen next door. Wings very good as so was the burger. Ambience definitely needs improvement not a place to stay too long in, eat and go is what it really is here. Shame they could do so much more with this restaurant as the food really was quite good.

Didn't plan to go there or even heard about the place but we found ourselves there for dinner.... Started with nice hot chicken wings and moved to a Diablo burger and baby back ribs.... Both were very good.

Il locale in stile un po' retrò, classico locale inglese. Non hanno birra alla spina, solo in bottiglia. Servizio inesistente, apparecchiatura fai da te. Al momento del conto troviamo una voce aggiuntiva, di oltre il 12% sul totale. Lo facciamo notare al cameriere che ci dice che si tratta di una specie di mancia. Mi amigo y yo comimos aquí hace poco. El interior es agradable, menú a un precio razonable y una buena selección para todos. Lo único que me impide darle 5 estrellas era algo de actitud injustificada de un miembro del personal cuando pedimos cambiar uno de los bollos de especialidades para orgullo para el Brioche. normal Sólo solicite esta como la que me dieron no era realmente una hamburguesa. Nos aseguraron que era la misma y que podría bollos "psicosomático". . .

Hemos tenido una muy buena comida en el restaurante. Habíamos pasado todo el día de casa y necesitábamos un lugar con buena cerveza, aire acondicionado y en donde poner nuestro equipaje, la cena era nuestra primera opción.

Es un restaurante con buen servicio, el personal es agradable y se preopcuparon por nosostros si todo estaba correcto.

Came in late Saturday night on the off chance of getting some late food. Was still busy but managed a table for 2! Had the best salad ever... chicken taco ..it was huge & I loved all the different combinations! All served in a crispy taco, my husband was jealous but he enjoyed his burger all the same! Quick & friendly service, great music, tasty food, what more do you need!

This is by no means the best or worst burger I've had. I chose the chilli burger, which while tasted pretty good, the actual burger was cold and was way to sloppy to be eaten with your hands. The sloppiness wouldn't have been a problem had the burger not been served in a basket which made it rather impracticable to use cutlery too. Alcoholic drink selected is pretty limited, and most come in cans. Service can't really be faulted however.

Popped by for a milkshake cocktail (pirates paradise and pina colada) and hanger fries (chilli con carne and cheese on chips), which were all fantastic! We were served by a very smiley, polite man who was attentive and friendly.

Thursday the 22nd March 2018 was International Chicken Wing day and after some careful research we decided to celebrate this wonderful day at The Diner. We were not disappointed.

Probably the best vegi burger I've had in 2 years of not eating meat. Fantastic place, American theme but not in your face and the staff very friendly.

Fast food con cucina a vista, musica anni 80 (solo un po' alto il volume) e divanetti alla Beverly Hills 90210. Insalata con quinoa, carciofini e pollo, buona! Sul tavolo a disposizione le salsine, ma mancava il pane. Un posto che consiglio per cene rapide, gli hamburger degli altri tavoli, non sembravano male!

Locale moderno, personale molto disponibile. Nel weekend c’è da fare un po’ di coda prima di sedersi,ma ne vale la pena, pancakes davvero ottimi

We went to the Diner after work for a quick bite and my was the food tasty! This is a get your hands dirty kind of eatery so no cutlery was needed for the food we ate (our preference) so be prepared to get your hands dirty! The service was very good and the waitresses very attentive. Good value for money and the servings were so big (for me) we got takeaway which was no problem for the staff. If you like American Diner type food this is a very good place to eat.

The Diner Curtain Road combines an extensive American and vegetarian menu offering food for comfort. Think Ed's Easy Diner combined with the cool relaxed vibe of Breakfast Club (with a much larger menu) and the drinks menu of NOLA | Roman Road.

Buscando en el menú, este lugar parece estupendo y me muy emocionados de venir aquí para ponerse al día con amigos! Por desgracia, creo que puede haber elegido el artículo equivocado en el menú, ya que me decepcionó.

I have been to a few other Diner locations and this is by far the best. This is not the closest one to my home, its just the best one to eat at.

Les burgers, les frites de patates douces et les pancakes... Tout était délicieux. Le serveur était très souriant, gentil et efficace ! On a même pu commander un plat qui n'était plus à la carte depuis 5 mois. Nous avons passé un très bon moment ! Je recommande.

We decided on dinner last minute but struggled finding somewhere. Although this looked busy we thought we would give it a go. The waitress took my number and said I would receive a message in about 30mins once a table was available. We walked out to find a bar for a quick drink but everywhere was so busy so just headed back to sit in the warm and wait. We were actually seated as soon as we got back. The menu is great, so many things to choose from which made it difficult! There are also a wide range of cocktails and also some great beers on offer. The portion sizes were huge! We struggled, the food was also great. Love to come back here - it was also very reasonably priced.

Visited late on a weekday evening, it wasn’t that busy; the service was prompt and super friendly. Can’t remember the name of the beer I had but it was very delicious. Opted for the ‘hungry man breakfast’ with muffin as an extra. The food arrived within 10 minutes, cooked perfectly and presented well. Reasonably priced too which is a bonus. Thanks!

Have eaten here a few times as it serves good coffee and great breakfasts. A couple of the booths are a bit of a squeeze to fit into; either that or I'm getting fat!

Looking for a food place in Shoreditch and stumbled upon the Diner. Firstly the menu has lots to pick from. I chose the Cheeseburger and my friend went out for the Lumberjack breakfast. Burger tasted great! Asked for medium and was actually cooked medium unlike some places who ask and ignore. Only bad thing was that we had to wait over 45 mins for the food as our order got lost in their system somehow. To be fair the waitress recognised their error and was very apologetic. She offered the food at no cost due to the inconvenience, great service. Recommend visiting

Nadat we de dag ervoor heerlijk hadden gegeten bij The Breakfastclub was vandaag The Diner aan de beurt. Ik zeg, een prima. Het is een Amerikaanse diner, het eten is oké maar mist een beetje de extra aandacht. De cappucchino is niet lekker maar ze hebben wel onbeperkt filterkoffie drinken. Bij de lumberjack breakfast zitten drie enorme pancakes, makkelijk te delen met je partner.

Increíble! Literalmente, la mejor comida y sin duda volveré. Panqueques de chocolate era genial y no se necesitan más chocolate para el resto del año.

So today we visited The Diner for a second time.

Fuimos a la hora de la comida, se sentó enseguida, recibió una camarera con un montón de tatuajes una moda muy agradable. Ella dio sus recomendaciones. Comida llegó en un tiempo adecuado. Y fue agradable!

We went to The Diner in Shoreditch Saturday night after visiting the Sky Garden. We had tried serval other places in Shoreditch to get food and without success. We went to The Diner as a last resort.

Parece como una Diner americano. Base ensalada taco está bien, pero el pollo estaba sencilla. El Diablo Burger podría haber sido buena, pero lechuga parecía tener agua. Burger sentarse en la piscina de líquido. Patatas fritas poquísimo dinero con buena pinta, pero no caliente. Buena selección de cervezas americanas y europeas, pero nada de barril. Buen ambiente.

Nos apetecía una cena estilo diner y pensamos que la cena tenía un aspecto más auténtico que el otro restaurante de al lado. Estaba un poco preocupado de que no me gustan los perritos calientes de carne pero estaba delicioso! Pedí el CCO Perro con papas fritas cajún diner. Las porciones eran grandes, sabroso y muy satisfactorio. Un apretón de tuerca duro crema remató la experiencia de comer. Estoy deseando volver y para conseguir otra arreglar perro cco!

Las raciones son bastante grandes, así que te dan tu dinero vale la pena pero la comida no era fantástica. Me dieron las costillas y la carne no era suave, no del hueso. Tuve un momento difícil disfrutar. La sección de bebidas es buena, tienes una gran variedad de bebidas y no es todos los días que te dan en lugares así que era agradable.

Came in because blues whatever next door wouldn't have kids after 7pm on a Sunday the weirdos Anyway had a proper nice burger in here would highly recommend Also had a banging waitress fit as Worth going just on the strength of that alone haha

Burger was absolutely amazing, staff were welcoming and attentive and it was reasonably priced. Will definitely return next time I'm in Shoreditch :)

Aquí mientras visitaba clientes fuimos con un colega. El lugar parecía muy bien y el personal era amable, pero esperaba con un nombre como el diner para ser nada especial. Tuve el suero de pollo y mi amigo tuvo una hamburguesa. Las raciones eran geniales y la comida era perfecta. Pollo estaba mojada, sabroso y bien sazonada. Sin duda merece la pena el viaje y estoy recomienda el batidos son excelentes.

Mi novio y yo fuimos allí en 2 de marzo para la cena. La chica que nos mostró nuestra mesa (por desgracia no puedo llamar su recepcionista), nos preguntamos si podemos conseguir otra mesa, ella dijo que lo que dejó, y nunca regresó. Así que estábamos allí por unos minutos cuando llegó otra chica que no entiendo por qué estamos de pie, pero después nos mostró otra mesa. Aparte de la primera chica, el personal era amable.

Fuimos para el desayuno. recibieron pero desde allí en el servicio era muy pobre. Nuestra orden fue mezclado y luego cuando corregido no era buena. Huevos fritos estaban exageradas y un martillo, era necesario para romper el tocino tocino suaves y a pesar de pedir no crujientes. El desayuno Burrito parecía buena, pero eso era todo. Hay mejores opciones en las cercanías

Un restaurante pequeño pero agradable, con un buen ambiente. Philly Cheesesteak tenía un sandwich, el streak fue preparado "mediana" que era mi petición, y fue perfecto!

Me and my friends all ordered the buttermilk fried chicken and it was amazing! My milkshake was good as well, the prices were cheap which was so surprising, i would definitely go again, good service as well! Highly recommend for a casual atmosphere :)

Estado aquí un par de veces antes, ya que tiene un menú sencillo con un poco de todo. Pedí el vegetariano burrito, que era bueno, pero quizás un poco demasiado sabor final, pero de gran valor para el tamaño de la porción!

Greeted with a warm welcome we were seated quickly. The food came swiftly too, and the staff met our requests. Can recommend the blueberry pancakes, veggie breakfast burrito, and hanger fries. The fresh fruit on the side is a nice touch too.
