Great pub in the centre of Kennington. Lots of beers, wines and spirits. Outside Gazebo with heaters.

Just went there today and they didn't have the heating on. It was absolutely freezing. Had I known I would have arranged to go elsewhere which is a shame because I used to like this place. I won't be back until summer. (Clarification: I went there Friday 3rd Jan at 3pm. No radiators were on at all.)

Great atmosphere in a cosy but roomy pub with interesting decor amidst traditional features including open fire. Staff are friendly and welcoming whilst serving up a good selection of lager, ales et all. Food is simple yet satisfying during the week with nice roasts on Sunday dogs welcome too so can enjoy the toasty fire when it’s going.

Wonderful local. Lucky to live so close. Great service, great people and great food. Wonderful for watching sport, hanging out with friends, or relaxing. The playlist slaps as well.

Lucky to call this a local - alway has a good atmosphere, whether it’s for a mid afternoon pint (when the pub catches the last of the sun), a cosy Sunday roast, or to catch a game under the covered smoking area on the big screen. Very friendly top quality staff, and as the name suggests it’s dog friendly with top quality treats! Bonus points for the eclectic decor and great playlist.

Damn, where to start?! The Chicken sandwich and the smash burger are to die for. They are amazing and the staff and management of the pub are top quality as well, they are great to have a convo with and are very friendly and also they have dog treats in jars around the pub so your dog can have the time of their lifes as well. There music playlist is very good as well, creates a wonderful atmosphere in the pub. Would 100% come again when I'm in the area!

Had a smash burger and fries which were great, the pub is really unique and has a great atmosphere with a great music playlist! Dog friendly and all the staff/management were delightful!

Management are great here and real friendly people. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will make a point to return when we're back in the area. Dog friendly too, which is an added bonus.

I am incredibly disappointed by the service we received during our casual Christmas lunch reservation at your pub. Despite booking a table via your website, we were rudely turned away upon arrival by the three staff members working at the bar. We were looking forward to trying the new menu, but were immediately told that food could not be served due to a large reservation on the first floor. Oddly, the bar area was completely empty, and there were no signs of any customers elsewhere. The staff was dismissive and unapologetic, which only added to our frustration. This is particularly disheartening as we work across the street and frequently visit your pub during the summer. However, after today’s experience, we will not be returning. A little courtesy and respect for your customers would go a long way in ensuring we consider your establishment in the future.

Hosted a Christmas quiz with work here in the upstairs function room. Would highly recommend. Everyone in the team was very communicative up to the day of the booking, and catered to all our requests. They had a great sound system available and the food was cracking too. 100% would go again!

This cosy pub is a gem! Friendly and efficient staff make for a welcoming atmosphere. The fire is a lovely touch on colder evenings. Great selection of food and drinks and a relaxed vibe. Highly recommend for a board game night, quick drink or a catch-up with friends.

Had a brilliant Christmas party for a group of 10 here in the upstairs dining space. The food was fantastic. Portion sizes just right, and service on the night was also perfect - organised and present, but not overbearing. Was nice to not be bombarded with Christmas songs too - just decent background music. Contact in the run-up could have been better, as I had to chase a couple of times, but based on the evening we had, it was worth it!

Was quite cold in there, they had a fire and I saw a fellow patron put an extra log on and got berated - now there was a sign saying don’t touch the wood - but talking to a group of men like they’re school children was a bit pathetic. Probably would have rated higher had they kept the fire going.

Probably the worst example of customer service I’ve ever experienced.. staff arrogant, rude and totally out of touch with their customer.. loads of our friends and neighbours have been affected by the poor customer service.. they need to review their values if they want to stay in business..

Best Sunday roast in Kennington - really great veggie options (2 of them) and good selection of meat options. Service was great and pub is lovely inside. Great place to bring dogs and they even do a small dog roast :) My new favourite pub.

Lovely pub but a bit disappointed that the management give you funny looks or make you feel uncomfortable/ refuse to serve you if you’re wearing work clothes. Everyone should feel welcome in a traditional pub! Don’t discriminate against the locals and the working class pls when we want to spend our money in your establishment! Other than that it’s a nice pub and the girls behind the bar are always friendly (:

Management is on power trip for no reason. Strange. I used to come here not for their below the average food or over priced beer but for the atmosphere, and some how they manage to ruin it too. Fortunatly there are planty of other pubs around.

As someone who lives across the road, I have come here more times then I can count. Every, single time I have visited, the blonde bar tender with tattoos has provided the most unwelcoming attitude, refusing to make specific drinks, making us feel awkward and uncomfortable to be in the establishment. I hope a change can be made.

There are lots of good things about The Dog House. It’s a nice building, the beer was tasty and you can sit outside and watch the world go by. I’m only marking this down as when our food arrived yesterday, there was no salad on the burgers because they’d run out (at 2pm). They had coleslaw, so it seemed reasonable to ask for a bit of that instead of the salad. No. Management had to be consulted, and they said no. The woman who served us agreed that it was pretty unreasonable, but wasn’t able to do any more.

Been drinking here for over 27 years and it's always been fine: beer's good, decent spirits, food's nice, staff are generally OK (you always get one) ... until now. Watched in disgust the other night as a guy was turned away at the bar for being in 'work clothes'. He was wearing a t-shirt and black cargo pants. Apparently, you can enjoy a relaxing after-work drink here if you have a nice office job, maybe an estate agent or something, but not if your job involves anything manual. What if I turned up in paramedic uniform? Do I get kicked out too? This policy is going to lose the Doghouse a lot of customers. So much for it being a 'public' house. Absolutely appalling attitude. Sad, but we will not be going back.

Se sintió perturbado al presenciar a un habitual con su camiseta y pantalones cargo rechazados por no estar “adecuadamente ataviado” después de un día de trabajo. Estaba confundido sobre por qué este caballero perplejo estaba tratando de leer el pequeño letrero de pizarra detrás de mi cabeza en la ventana que lo decía hasta que lo leí por mí mismo. Totalmente surrealista y un síntoma enfermizo de gentrificación en la zona. No volveré a beber allí hasta que esa señal desaparezca.

Very bad experience, they don't serve drinks because you are dressed in work clothes but they are dog-friendly!! It doesn't make much sense... not recommended for people who want to drink something after finishing their work day… especially on a Sunday after 2pm…

Good experience, and overall atmosphere

Very solid and consistent pub. Not going to set the world on fire but it’s just a good place to go for a drink with friends and maybe some food if you happen to be hungry

I would leave a 0 star review if possible. The service is terrible. A waitress came to our table around 8:30 saying there was a new booking at 9:15 and if we didn't leave, their manager would come and kick us out of the place. We were so surprised, she could have just say there was another booking and we'd be cool with it but she was so rude, completely unnecessary, we were super happy so far. Then the manager didn’t want to serve us anymore, and when I went to talk to him he accused us of swearing to his team which never happened and the guy was completely furious. We were having a good time watching a world cup game. What a shame because the location and place are great.

Pub and bar staff are lovely but manager was very rude. Booted me and friends from the pub prior to the euro final for eating a bag of crisps and a having a beer outside from the adjacent shop whilst the bar was closed. Made us bin our beers under threat of getting barred and then once we'd binned them he kicked us out anyway. Never leave reviews but this one irked us as a group! No shade to the pub itself but the manager ruined completely it!

I’d previously reviewed this pub well but went for my friends birthday today and the landlord (I presume) was really rude to some of our party, particularly my friend on his birthday who had booked a table, he charged £5 each for everyone that turned up late despite the beer garden being empty and really looked angry to be there. Edit. The whole party of ten people that turned up (albeit slightly late) work in hospitality and understand the challenges facing the industry, that is no excuse for being rude to people and charging a group for being slightly late to an empty beer garden.

I have never experienced anything like this in my life. The extreme profanities from who I can only assume was the manager. I entered the pub this morning merely to enquire about directions when the man yelled at me, swore incessantly with no explanation. Absolutely disgusting and such a shame as this place has such fond memories. I have just tried to call to complain but no answer. Sadly no facility to give this place -100 stars! And I do hope the person gets learns customer service or at the very least manners. Wow seen the response. Obviously written from the person in question with no remorse whatsoever and other reviews on the manager concur with my review. So sad!!!

A smile wouldn’t go amiss, or perhaps some manners? We arrived at the Dog House at around 9:15pm. We’d been told that there burgers were excellent and after a busy day all 9 of us were famished. Sadly upon arrival the Kitchen was closed so no food for us, our fault for our lack of haste. So we sat outside, enjoyed a pint and decided to order Uber Eats to the pub as most places were shut for food. By the time food arrived the outside area was shut. But thankfully our friend had his wonderful Land Rover on the street next to the pub, which we all sat in the back of where we finsihed off our pints and ate our food. As we ate we noticed all the staff and manger starting at us through the windows. I guess 9 people crammed into a Land Rover would draw stares. Not long later I nipped in to use the loo but the man at the bar said “Excuse me you’re not allowed in here” Surprised I replied “So sorry, so I can’t use your loo?” To which he said “My manager told me you’re not allowed in here at all” Bemused I left to warn the others. Didn’t stop 2 of our members walking straight in to use the loo, and later as we left the manager stood in the doorway looking very stern and unhappy. Why deprive us from the basic right of using a loo? We’re paying customers. The whole pub seemed lovely, sadly the manager let it down. You’d get more joy and happiness from someone who worked in a morgue. All the same we enjoyed our experience.

Lovely pub for a drink, good atmosphere and very lively, but food service was terrible. Ordered an item, paid for it, waited 45mins to be told they don’t have any left but they can make something else. Refund only issued on asking.

Been here a few times for Sunday roast. You can't go wrong for the price. The building is quirky and dog friendly throughout. Food is good value and even has discounted food for seniors. Unfortunately I was unable to cut through my pork belly so left it. My partners beef was fine. Service could be better. Stood at the bar to check in for our table for 10 minutes. No one acknowledged we were there. A quick 'hello will be with you shortly' goes a long way.

This used to be a lively place for a cheap pint. The post-covid version of this pub is a disappointing experience. The bathrooms are devoid of the entertaining graffiti that used to cover the walls. The foosball and pool tables have gone. The music is unmemorable. The drinks are priced as if this middle-of-the-road wannabe gastro-pub was a central London hot spot. The food has somewhat improved, but it's a tall price to pay.

Being "In the Dog House" was a pleasure and not a punishment. The staff provided very friendly and polite and professional service. Had the lamb shank Sunday roast and it was fantastic. The lamb fell away from the bone and tasted wonderful. The veg and roast potatoes and gravy were all very good too.

Had a wonderful Sunday roast with my sister here today and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the white wine wasn’t cold and the second bartender that took our order was super rude about it and just said well, “ I can either offer you warm wine or warm wine “. Totally unacceptable As far as the food and the service from the rest of the staff everything was fantastic !!! You do have to order and pay at the bar though. We both had the chicken and we shared the cheese cauliflower. Delicious!! Very good value too since the portion was pretty large We skipped dessert because we were totally stuffed but next time I’m totally ordering it. If you’ve never had a Sunday roast this is a great place to have your first experience !!!

Sad, because this used to be my favourite pub in London but the last couple of times I have come the service has been really poor - including when you have a reservation and have committed to an evening at the pub.

It's much improved in the last few years. A nicer feel, a sweeter smell (the toilets were dreadful for a long time) and in general a nicer place than when last I visited. Now trendy and comfortable. A recommended pub now.

Hired the first floor meeting room for a business meeting, stunning original venue with great quirk, service from Nathan the manager was excellent with great set up and real value for money. We tried the Lou and Licks menu for lunch which was on point smashed burgers and chicken. Will definitely be returning!

Had a cracking time here, it was eggs-actly what we wanted for an egg-straordinary Easter weekend shell-elebration. Brought my dog and they didn’t carrot all. It was a Good Friday night and we were really hoppy with everything. So hatch some plans and chick this pub out! Also the owner is hot, cross, and has nice buns.

Been here over a dozen times now, and the staff are often unnecessarily rude when asked simple questions. Have previously overheard staff slagging off other customers too. It's just so unnecessary and makes me question why I should continue to give them a chance.

Went there twice recently, both times specifically for food. On first occasion we were told only Sunday Roast was available which is fine, even though it’s not mentioned on the website/menu. Unfortunately we didn’t end up eating as they didn’t have enough available for our table just after lunch time. Went back the second time on a Thursday but the kitchen was closed. When we asked why we didn’t receive an answer, and staff seemed standoffish, they also had food menus on every table.. weird. Cool glasses thought.

Me and my husband had a quick lunch today here, and it was really amazing! We have ordered chicken as a starter, burgers as a main and toffee pudding as dessert. All was really tasty. The open kitchen makes is a big plus! We want to say thanks to Freja and her amazing service like at the high end restaurant and Kimon for being welcoming host!

Have been to lots of pubs in the area and the owner really felt his presence know here, very unpleasant character that even his own stuff seemed to be turning against. Unnecessarily aggressive and ruined an experience where we only had good intentions.

Not impressed with the service, drinks or prices. The service was slow and not welcoming. The drinks were expensive. £52 for three drinks., I had five drinks, four tasted majorly watered down. It tasted more like four cups of tea. Sorry for poor review but I feel like I’ve been cheated.
