We went for dinner, it was unexpectedly quiet, wich was nice to be able to hear each other , the food and service were excellent as usual.

Went with friends for a Christmas treat. Had a lovely time. Girls at our table were lovely and polite.

Met with friends. Good menue at reasonable prices. Staff good

Visited for a birthday meal in November.There were 5 in our party Food was very good and not too long a wait. Nice and cosy village pub, service was ok but staff could be a little more friendly

Let down by the service! We were greeted nicely on arrival, shown to a table, given the menus, everything great at this point, the food came and it was excellent, very tasty. Once we had finished our meals it was like we became invisible, the empty plates sitting in front of us for 30+ minutes, nobody took the plates away, asked us if we needed any more drinks, dessert, coffee, etc, and the staff were walking all around us, including serving the table right next to us! We certainly would have had additional drinks and desserts, but nobody asked, and we ran out of time in the end. Also annoying that the staff did look over to us a couple of times from the bar area, but still chose not to come over. For this reason we will not return and cannot recommend, it is highly frustrating to be ignored. Please train your staff better in customer service.

We love this place! We had the festive menu and it was SO good! The cocktails were great and the brisket, oh my it was to die for!

As always, a great meal, and well priced. The guys are always really pleasant and welcoming. Plenty of parking with easy access. Mark : )

Great service and fabulous carvery, £10 for meatfree option was well worth it, meat free gravy was brought to our table. Lovely atmosphere and clean.

Very good food and service. It was very busy tonight but it didn't stop the staff to be nice and we didn't have to wait long for food. Will be coming back!

Met with my sister to celebrate her birthday having booked a table in advance. We were given a friendly greeting and shown to a nice table by the window. We both had something from the specials board (fish pie and creamy King prawn curry). Dessert was sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake. Have visited here many times before and highly recommend it. Great food, nice cosy atmosphere and very friendly staff.

Having around 16 people in one group to deal with on a Saturday afternoon, as well as other tables to deal with, the staff were excellent, food was amazing, service was exceptional. Definitely recommend

Smoked haddock from the specials board was excellent, meat and potato pie and fish and chips also very good.

Popped in on the off-chance. They wrote extremely busy but managed to make room for us. The food and atmosphere were brilliant. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely evening.

Like walking into a hipster joint in London, no draught bitter only craft junk like neck oil. Walked straight back out, feeling devastated. Apparently should have gone to Specsavers for a draught bitter ffs

First time here for Sunday lunch

Lovely pub, food second to none! Saturday was our third visit and certainly wasn’t the last. The staff cannot do enough for you and your party. Highly recommended.

After a day of hiking, we stopped here on our way home for a quick bite to eat. We had one of their pizzas after reading a number of reviews recommending it and it didn’t disappoint. Freshly cooked and reasonably priced, it was quick, hot and tasty. The views are great from the beer garden and there is a wide selection of drinks too!

Passed this place many times and always said we'd go there, decided tonight was the night and were not disappointed! Staff were lovely and nothing was any bother, food was great - and hot! We'll be going back to sample the carvery one day.

Booked for 5pm (only slot available), had hoped for carvery but that stops at 4, staff just clearing as we arrived and it looked amazing! I had liver instead and my pal had pork, both absolutely delicious. Had just enough room for dessert and coffee, really nice creme brulee and bakewell tart. Staff were fantastic, really chatty and friendly and understood my request for a small spoon for my creme brulee 😆 will return and make sure to book well in advance and before 4 so we can try the carvery! Thank you 🤩

The Elm Tree Pub is great if you want a drink and their food is amazing. Especially their Sunday roast beef or pork. I go here mosts Sunday's and sometimes during the week. The staff are really friendly. You can sit outside if you want. Lovely village pub. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy.

Lovely restaurant to spend our wedding anniversary in. I have a lot of food intolerances but I felt looked after straight away like nothing was too much trouble and the allergy and intolerance menu was really clear and easy to read.

Great place to go, kids love the playground which is safe away from the road, busy on nights and it's vibin. Always a good time and meals there are always superior. They also have a woodfired pizza oven available some nights. Guy Falks Firework night was epic last year too 👌will be attending again this year.

No waiting orders flowed, well organised defo be going again 👌

Great place, food is good and big portions even for the starter. And we could also get a takeaway box to bring home the leftover of our main dishes.

Amazing place to chill next to the wide window with a view of the castle. The food is delicious. Only one downside – dirty cutlery (seems like they fixed it but had some more issues now 😔) Visited today and have one more downside to add, which I hope will be fixed. The portion sizes have gotten smaller, while the prices and waiting-time have increased. I was especially disappointed with the dessert. The Bakewell tart slice was smaller than any one served in Costa, but costs 6.75! I also ordered orange juice, and the waitresse brought me only half of a glass - the rest was ice and air.

Lovely food and reasonably priced. Service was good but a little slow. Some of the decor is a bit dated but doesn’t detract from the good pub grub experience. Would happily eat here again.

I have given this a one star as we have been here before and the food is good. Tonight, I was with my family wife and three children eating a meal when 5 lads came in and have been obviously drinking. The language was so bad that I had asked then to stop because of the kids. Needless to say, it did not stop, so we cut our meal sort and left. We did when asked if the meal had been good and explained that we had left our food because of the bad language. The lady had said they were well known lads and were known for playing up and bad language but did go on to change us full price for the meal we had left. Hence, the review and the fact we will not be looking to return

Delicious Sunday roast!! This was our first visit and will definitely come back. The desserts were so scrumptious too

First time visiting this place - will definitely be back! Lovely surroundings, staff very friendly and food out of this world! We had garlic mushrooms, deep fried brie, liver and mash and spare ribs also a bottle of wine and drinks hence why we spent so much - but well worth it!!

Brilliant tasting food and the quickest app service I've ever had. Bar drinks service could be quicker as there aren't many people behind the bar. The area we sit at inside, which was the area looking out onto the children's climbing frame, was roomy but very warm so could probably do with some aircon or better aircon for warmer days.

Food was excellent, the halloumi fries incredible. Sat outside in the sun, wonderful.

Restaurant looking tired Staff unwelcoming and abrupt...certainly would never go back ! And only have a pizza if you want it put on the end of your table in a box...wow what service !

Lovely lunch here, the staff are very friendly and the food was both delicious and good sized portions. Its quite a large place with plenty of parking and a great outdoor view for sunny days.

Great service - large freshly cooked food portions nicely presented by cheerful staff. Lovely views - really enjoyed our visit. We had the hanging kebab and meat an potato pie - huge portion of onion rings... Drinks menu had good selection including cocktails, 0% beer and wines. Loos were nice too.....

Disappointed. It's not as good as it was. Expected seasonal vegetables with our Sunday carvery in July, not roasted winter roots, parsnips, swede and carrot and red cabbage. Only other veg. was frozen peas.

We visited last Saturday to celebrate a birthday . We have been many times before but generally mid week and in the evening. The food as always was very good and was served promptly . On this occasion the serves was poor we had to ask for the table to be cleared after our main course ask again for the dessert menus and ask again for the dessert order to be taken . It was apparent that less experienced staff work on Saturday and when one out party went to order a drink she heald to wait for the staff to finish their tirade about other staff . Some members of our party had not been before and l felt embarrassed that the service was so poor . Fortunately we have had more positive experiences at The Elm Tree so we will return . I think more training of the young staff is needed

I have been coming to the elm tree for years now, usually for special occasions and I’ve never had a bad meal here. Everytime we’ve been it’s always busy and has a lovely, friendly atmosphere. It is dog friendly in the bar area which is a lovely bonus! I had the pork fillet and garlic mash and it was to die for, generous sized portions and very tasty! Will be back to try the carvery next time! Definitely advise booking as it was already quite full at 12 pm!

We went for my parents 55th Wedding Anniversary. The staff were extremely polite, we got stuck in traffic on our way there, making us 30mins late. Phoned them & they saved our reservation. The food is amazing & well worth the money. All of our meals were perfect. Shall definitely be going again for a family meal 10/10👍

Been wanting to try the carvery here for months and today we got to try it and my we wasn’t disappointed it was beaut the best carvery we have had 🥰 will defo be back! The service was great and the views out the window were great too 😀

When did it become wrong to just go to a pub for a drink? Been here a few times as we are local. Went in today after a walk. Went into the 'tap room' as we had the pup with us and snagged a table as someone left. Got drinks and crisps. 5 minutes later one of the staff came over to ask if we'd reserved the table. We hadn't. We just wanted a drink. Were told the table was reserved (no sign) and we needed to move. Couldn't go in the best side as no dogs so had to sit outside at an Ash strewn table in the wind with awful music playing. Another one on the blacklist for making people who - shock horror - want to go to a pub for a drink feel like second class citizens. Plus £17 for two lagers, two cokes and two packets of crisps. Felt like we were in an episode of Fawlty Towers.

Simply stunning, excellent food and staff

Visited this restaurant for lunch on our way from the Midlands to East Yorkshire, it is so close and convenient to the M1, literally minutes away. Set in a quiet village and plenty of parking. The inside is quite spacious, with many tables. The menu has more than enough options for lunch at reasonable mid-range pricing, but the portions are huge. There is also a lunchtime specials menu at very favourable prices. Our meals from the main menu can out fairly quickly, hot, freshly prepared and the included side dishes of vegetables were plentiful and delicious. One of our party is coeliac, although there is a separate menu, the staff were very accommodating and agreed to change two items on their selected dish to make it more pleasurable, what service. There is a full bar and real ale, all staff so friendly. A great stop off point and break from our drive up the M1, highly recommend.

We have previously visited the Elm Tree on 3 occasions and always found it to be very welcoming. On this occasion, most of us attending went for the carvery lunch. I was a little disappointed as out of the three meat options included pork and gammon, which I don't eat, so settled for beef, which I didn't mind. It would have been nice to have had the option of turkey, just for balance. It didn't spoil our afternoon there as we there for a retirement meal.

Mains were really good. Staff were friendly. Deserts were very small for the price, quite bland and then the staff seemed to be more focused on closing up. They forgot to bring a drink but still put it on the bill, never came over to give us the bill and we kept hearing staff in the back shouting and messing around. Still pretty good overall though, just kinda ruined it towards the end.

First time we visited The Elm Tree, we booked a table in the ‘Snug’ area as we brought our puppy with us. Food was delicious, service was amazing. A large variety of drinks also! Will definitely be returning again with our dog😊

We have been for lunch.... We had Lasagne & Gammon Steak. both meals were very good quality and large portions. The salad that came with the gammon steak was very nice. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff.

This is a real hidden gem, our first visit but not the last. Food was fabulous, huge portions, staff really lovely and first class service. A special thank you to the young lady looked after us, we were a table of six, with a birthday cake. She was really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend you give this place a try.

Went on 16th of Feb to celebrate Valentines night. Lovely food as usual, great service but very disappointing steak choice. The choice was sirloin, 8oz, take it or leave it. They used to have several choices including a tomahawk, but these were now absent. If you want a steak, I suggest you go to a different restaurant with more choice than just one.

Enjoyed our visit, it is popular and there for quite busy, so the staff are busy. But good food, plenty of it.

We stopped here by chance on our way down south. It was a busy Sunday lunchtime and we expected to be turned away as we hadn’t booked however the staff were so accommodating and we got a table immediately. We opted for the carvery and have to say it’s the best we’ve ever had. 3 choices of meet. Beef, gammon and pork all cooked superbly. Credit to the chef and his team as well as the staff who made our last minute stop-off a fabulous experience.

Arrived 12:55 and sat at a table in the snug. Asked for a menu at the bar and told they would need to check the table was not reserved. Told it was not so ordered drinks and a main meal. At 1:15 told the we would have to vacate the table by 2 pm and the meal would arrive shortly. Meal arrived at 1:35 so forced to rush the meal with no time for desert. This used to be one of our go to places for a meal, not any more.

Food alright however some Chucky chips were not cooked fully. Bar staff need to learn how to pour a simple glass of coke.

We met our friends Cheryl, Mick, Angela & Richard for lunch. It was very busy. The food is good, home cooked and tasteful. Everyone was pleased with their food. We also had teas/coffee. Service was friendly and helpful. A good occasion.
