Had a cheddar cheese sandwich - unfortunately there wasn't much cheese in it! Bread was lovely though. Iced coffee was good.

Visited for food today as it is the start of the summer holidays, I have previously reviewed the fountain for drinks but wanted to update following today's trip. Firstly the menu is a very good size which doesn't have an overwhelming choice, there's well proportioned brunch, lunch, bar food and lite bites sections. I went for a vegetarian spiced falafel burger and my stepson chose the sweet chilli chicken burger. Service was super fast and the meals were well presented with a good amount of coleslaw and fries. The food was perfect, well cooked and the dressing / sauce on both burgers was amazing. Service was great with very friendly staff at all points from ordering to table service. The other meals being sent to other tables all looked amazing. Highly recommended if you're in the area and in need of decent bar food.

The food & service never disappoints I have added a few photos of the mini English breakfast the vegan option plus a few more. The poached eggs are always cooked to perfection. The quality of the meat in the Sunday lunch & the bacon is high quality. Please take into account some younger staff at the weekend are training. The main staff are excellent.

A popular spot for lunch or drinks with best local ales and a basic but decent lunch menus Nice outside banquettes to sit at in summer.

A great place to meet up for food or drinks during the day or in the evening. Good service and a decent choice. Yes the beer is relatively pricy... If you want cheap ale go over the road to Spoons.

Me and my partner ordered the Sunday roast with beef, very disappointed as it was to pink and tough, we couldn’t eat the beef unfortunately

Yet again a delicious breakfast. Some might say its easy to do a breakfast but equally its easy to get it wrong. The food is always spot on. Red hot and super tasty. I must also say a massive thank you to the service staff they were so friendly and genuinely nice people. Service means everything to me and i will be back soon. Thank You so much. Atmosphere only 4 stars because it was very early. No doubt 5 stars later in the day.

Hello Fountain… firstly I live in Macclesfield and think you’re a great addition to the town. I visit you maybe twice a month.. This time I have to give you some feedback… poached eggs on both plates were over cooked ( this happens often) and food just about warm… I know I should of said something on our visit but the place was busy and it was not the time ….. What’s up with the coffee at The Fountain??? I understand you roast your own blend and all but seriously after all the effort it always tastes kinda strange and lord knows I’ve tried to like it many times. Finally please please try to spend some time training the floor staff as table-side skills need some help. Please, this is only feedback as I really like The Fountain. Thanks 😎

Great place for lunch and a pint or coffee

Edit: Made better by the lovely male manager, who we spoke to on our return, who gave us a free drink. Thank you. Glad we came back! It’s sad to write this as we love the fountain but the Blonde haired manager when asked for a menu at the bar sarcastically said they’re on the tables. Thinking I turned my back on her she turned to a member of staff and smirked pulling her face! Regardless if went in there every day or never before customer services is essential to everyone at every time! To be mocked is 100% disgraceful.

Came for a night out with friends. Had a fantastic burger and a few really good beers. Great atmosphere in there and brilliant service.

Such a great place to relax on a Saturday afternoon or meet with friends for drinks. I go here with my young children and also with my girls. Food, service and staff are all fab! I also love the decor, there’s nothing else like it in Macclesfield.

Popped in for drinks at lunchtime with the dog lovely smart airy venue and friendly staff.

Go here often as it's a great venue in Macclesfield. They have different beers every time I visit, most of them are really nice but that's just my taste. Bit pricey for beer compared to most places. Food is really nice too.

A little noisy at times but a pleasant place for our Sunday lunch.

We found a hair in our food and the service as a result of this was poor. We have used the fountain and other bollington brewer pubs for years and this has left a very sour taste and we won’t be eating there again. This is more of reflection of the aftercare and service

Perfect for our little meet up before heading in to Manchester. Very helpful staff, Bar bites were a perfect little bit of food to keep us going and of course the beer and cocktails kept everyone very happy! A must try when in Macclesfield 👌

Very,very nice!! Been for the 1 st time with my husband,and since.....1000 times more with friends,colleagues,new mums like me... Great spaces,very good for prams( a big bonus,as not all places get some space to park your boogie,or even to get inside 👍) The space is very well designed ( I love those blue bankets), the plants,the light... everything give a very calm,and happy atmosphere 🤩. The food is really good,and the coffee too... Also,it's easy to park your car just opposite ( can be busy though). Over all,great place to meet,for relaxing and enjoying experience 🥰

I can't comment on the food as we only had coffee & hot chocolate but,that was very nice.The service was good ,the atmosphere was nice & the toilets were clean(always important,I think,!)

Understaffed and terrible service

We reserved a table and when we got there some people had taken it up on themselves to remove the reserved sign and rub out our time. Luckily the helpful staff we able to resolve the situation and provide us with the tabe we had reserved. We then proceeded to have a wonderful evening with fantastic beer, food and service. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We eat and drink in the fountain regularly. (Big group, always space if you book ahead of time… the team will always accommodate) Great selection of beers both from bollington brewery and a number of guest beers. Nice cocktail menu the espresso martini is particularly tastey. Food is always quick and tastes great the prices are worth it as the portions are massive and the ingredients are quality. Would recommend the Bolly burger, loaded fries and they have just introduced a fountain dog! So good Service is quick and friendly, always have plenty of bar staff on. There’s never a wait at the bar and the team are so friendly. Really nice place to eat and drink, love the interior, although can be a little loud at peak times… but then isn’t every successful/busy bar? Thanks the fountain team, see you next week!

Very poor attitude regarding tables reserved for customers. A table reserved at 16.30 was actually 17:00. No guests had arrived by 17:00 so we naturally took the table and were rudely accosted by the staff and told to move. Other tables allegedly 'reserved' were also not allowed despite no-shows. Frankly, a despicable approach by the staff and a strategy surely losing them money. A most unpleasant place and to be avoided. Far better to spend your money at the Snowgoose. Won't be going back. Ever.

18/11/23: just a fantastic place! Chilled, relaxed vibe, great food, friendly staff! 10/11/23: love it here. Dog friendly. Awesome selection of craft ale/craft beer and cider. We had the Seacider raspberry ripple infused cider 4% and Bianca Road Brewery: Guava Polava session pale ale 4.5%. Great food!

A good sized gammon sandwich came with salad and coleslaw all freshly prepared and quick service. I ordered fries too. Again it was a good sized portion that were crispy and hot. The above and a half pint of diet coke for less than £10. Bargain. Our first visit. We'll be back.

It's always great when a place exceeds your expectations. The food was better than we expected. The staff are really friendly and they coped with our 'awkward' dietary requirements with ease. Good beer selection as well. Comfy seating. Air conditioned. We will definitely be going again. Still a great place to eat. We have just had lunch there.

Wheelchair accessable but not many low tables . Mostly high ones or booths but did manage. Great night out just think butter is a tad overpriced

Came here for the first time as we were visiting Macclesfield for the day. The food was delicious, I will definitely return on my next visit.

I know reviews have been a bit mixed, but can't fault it based on my experience. There were 8 of us and all our food was perfect. Thoroughly recommend the Bollington burger. 10/10, real quality. Nice venue for meeting up with friends, and you can take your dog along. Give it a try.

Sunday 21st May There was no last orders bell. No indication that I could not order drinks for me and my group. Only 1 visible member of staff who seemed to talk to his friends instead of serving customers. Was refused service at 9:50 unaware of when last orders were but the other table ordered after us and were served.

I called here for drinks with friends on a Friday, early evening. The place was buzzing with a good atmosphere. Drinks are nice (a good selection of beers on tap) and service was quick. We called back later in the evening and whilst it was busy, we did find a table. Well worth a visit

Average, nothing to write home about. Really annoyed at the payment by card only policy. Saved the question of how much to tip though as no cash, no tip.

Went in for brunch today. Struggled to find a table as they had reserved signs on them but when we looked closer they were for the evening. Daughters drink did not come with ours had to go back to bar and ask for it. Food came then whilst we all had mouthfuls of food we got asked was it OK, person did not wait until we finished for an answer. Food massively over salted.... salty bacon, salty egg, on the toast which had salty butter on. Left half my meal as my mouth was tingling with all the salt.

Food was spot on! Great atmosphere apart from a waiter who was just plain rude to my face, need a slap. Had a lovely morning till she turned up

Second time at the fountain today. We had 2 for 1 cocktails followed by 2 roast dinners and pasta meal for my granddaughter which she ate all of and a dessert of strawberries and ice cream we had 2 desserts, toffee pudding and red velvet cake. The food was cooked beautifully and very tasty, the carrots were so nice. Very clean and tidy. Great room for baby changing. High chairs provided. The hospitality was outstanding. Great place to relax. We were expecting to pay way more, and we’re very surprised with the bill. Extremely competitively priced. Thank you for looking after us x

Love this bar in Macclesfield. Open space, nice feeling atmosphere, always had a nice drink whether a coffee or spirit.

Despite advertising they serve food until 6pm on Sunday, tried to order at 5:25pm to be advised there was none. Need to state if this is the case, as we came in specifically for food. Not impressed.

Easy to find, parking outside and nearby. Food was tasty hut could have been hotter given that there wasn't many customers in when I arrived. Signage or staff direction could have been better in terms of ordering -I had no idea you order at the bar until we thought we waited long enough for table service. Staff were pleasant but could be more attentive to customers. Overall, worth a nice coffee with a friend, but might try elsewhere next time.
