One of the best places to eat in the area. Lovely menu, so many choices. The set menu is wonderful three courses for £27.95. £24.95 for two courses, wonderful fresh French bistro food. My Husband had the leek and potatoe soup ( oh and the fantastic crusty bread yum) I had the goats cheese tart. He had Salmon in a sorrel sauce and crushed new potatoes delicious. I had the chicken which was also wonderful. But they also offer the most amazing bar food, even escargot. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Fab location.

This place has quickly gone down hill. Overly pretentious menu for a country pub. Food sub-standard for the prices. You are also not allowed a water bowl in the bar area for your dog. They have to be taken outside for a drink every time. Won’t be going back!

These guys were amazing. We had an issue with a reservation elsewhere and had to relocate my partners birthday celebrations to the Fox and Hounds at very short notice...and I could not be happier that we did. We had the private room and were looked after so well. The staff were wonderful and the food was great. They say things happen for a reason and this definitely did, because the Fox and Hounds team made the celebration very special. Thank you so much.

I wish I could give a 0 star review. Set menu: horrifying. A single egg cut in half, yes a single egg, slathered in mayonnaise cost us around £10. It’s unbelievable. The steak they sell in the set menu was equally, if not more despicable. It was so thin (and diametrically small too), I had to put a paperweight on it to stop it from flying off with the wind. No way that portion could have fed anyone of any shape or size. The menu prices are absolutely ridiculous too, there’s one or two options under £25. This place is no longer a pub. Additionally, we waited almost an hour for our main courses. I doubt with the greatest certainty that had I not gone and reminded them of our food we’d have waited for another hour minimum. Appalling in all regards. Read any other 1 star review, what I write here can easily be corroborated with their experiences. It was a sad experience.

Absolutely disgusted with the experience I just had having lunch at the restaurant! The food was delicious but took too long to be served, we waited an hour and 20 mins for mains… finally it came to paying, we pointed out the service had been incredibly slow so we opted out of paying for service, the owner who was taking our money became rude and condescending and told us never to come back, as he didn’t need people in his pub that were uneducated! I am disgusted, insulted and quite frankly seething at the way the owner spoke to me and my 3 female family members! I am shaking and will definitely not be returning and if you want to be served by an owner with any manners then you won’t go here either!

Lovely pub with a nice restaurant - set menu was good value, about £23 for 2 courses and £25 for 3. I had the cauliflower soup, tartiflette and chocolate mousse and they were all amazing. Friends had options including the rump steak and said it was amazing too. They bring bread to start, which tastes amazing, and they refill it if you want more. Lovely staff, friendly and helpful. Sadly since this pub was sold a few weeks ago, it's not what it used to be. They stopped serving between 3-5pm, to presumably give the kitchen a break, it's literally your job as a pub to serve food 🤦🏻♀️ they stopped serving pizzas, and take away pizzas, which were delicious with fresh ingredients; they hiked their prices, it's now £79 for a côte de Boeuf (the cow is already btw, you just have to cook it not kill it so not sure why it's so high); £11 for a grilled sandwich they called a "croque monsieur" and they put brie in the burger. Who wants brie in their burger. It's shameful, and putting french ingredients on a menu to make it sounds better and rack the prices up, is highly insulting. It would be cheaper for me to travel to France for the day, and actually get good decent steak and food, it will be absolutely cheaper and it would be much nicer. No disrespect to the chef there, the management has lost their mind. Sadly there is more, they don't allow dogs inside anymore nor push chairs in the restaurant (how are you supposed to do?!) and they certainly don't allow horses like the previous owner who sadly passed away. They have tables in front of it. They broke something which was working and full of life with caring waitressed and management, which got rid of, and didn't suss out properly their clientele. It's a real shame it's no longer about community and atmosphere, but about the big bucks. I do not recommend.

We used to love the goats cheese salad and fish and chips neither of which was on the new menu The staff were attentive and the seating arrangement was very well done. Maybe they have changed the chefs it was expensive for what we had and disappointing.

First off it is great to see this local re open after the previous owners made the snap decision to close. However food is not up to the previous high standards many had come to know and love. After placing our order we waited about an hour to be served - perhaps a little more than we would have expected - but they were quite busy. Looking at the mains most were just shy of £25 with a couple of dishes just below £20. So, at this pitch for pub grub I would have expected something special but alas all of our food whilst OK was nothing special and seemed a little just above average. But given the price point it is safe to say you can do better locally for probably £5 less per main! The Cruzcampo was an outrageous £7.15 a pint - the is London price+ !!! All in all whilst great to see this place re open - it lacks the sheen it once had and you will be charged over £30 a head for a main and 1 drink! Luckily for the Fox & Hounds there is not a rating for value.

Lovely atmosphere and great service, but the food was average at best and extortionate for what it was. I had a burger (because it was the cheapest thing on the menu and I was just after a quick dinner with my children) and that was £19! The chips were undercooked and the burger itself, whilst looking quite impressive, was quite average to eat. I get the impression the clientele don't care about the price of things here, they all oozed money, sadly the pub itself seem to have taken advantage of this - dishing out basic food for insane prices

Very disappointed with the new management, extremely rude upon arrival. Food was expensive and not great pub food like it has been previously. To stop dogs being allowed in eating area that is under the canopy is a mistake and will lose so much business as everyone walks their dogs in great Windsor park. Was a great place to grab lunch or dinner after a walk. No space for horses to be tied up like previous or head collars and hay for horses. Unfortunately it has lost the English country pub vibe. Menu is limited and they have tried to be fancy. I don’t think it will last. Sad times… another great pub gone wrong.

I don’t write reviews, good or bad because generally can’t be bothered but the only good thing about our dinner this evening was the company, everything else was terrible. Used to love coming to this pub, yes it was always on the more expensive side but the food was good, good size portions with a welcoming team. In fact we went most weekend after our group dog walks. Now, couldn’t be more opposite if it tried. It’s a country English pub, now trying to be an on obnoxious French boutique. Extortionate prices, small portion sizes, you’d get more at a Michelin star tasting menu! States dog friendly, barely, incredibly rude manager informed us of this when we turned up for dinner in the outside area, only to be told they’re now only allowed in a tiny unsheltered area. And as for horse friendly, not sure where the horse would go anymore as they’ve crammed lots of benches into the small ‘dog friendly’ space, obviously very animal welcoming people….:.. I don’t mind paying expensive prices if the food was good but it was not. The burger was rare but still dry (obviously bad quality meat), fish pie was ridiculously small for £23, the petit Camembert starter came with cucumber, lettuce and pepper to eat it with for £13, the £5 side salad was literally about a quarter of a bag of mixed leaves you’d get from Tesco - nothing else to it!!! The one vegetarian meal that is on the menu, they did not have. After dinner coffee was then ordered with the desserts, but never brought out, until we asked, there were maybe 3 other tables with customers… NOT busy. Overall an incredibly disappointing dinner. Will not be returning and feel that the new owners/management do not understand the wants of the locals so will be surprised if the business lasts.

I have been visiting The Fox and Hounds for over 30 years, with several management changes. This is the first time I have felt unwelcome by the new manager and probably will not return. The food was tasteless and below average. Dogs owners are made to fell unwelcome and are not allowed in the garden area, but just in the area directly infront of the pub. Our dog made a small whine, not even a bark, while we were finding our seat . The manager stated that dogs who made noise were not allowed, as other customers would complain. I have never heard anybody complain about dogs in the pub, especially as it is next to Windsor Great Park and previously was full of dog owners. As I was waiting for our food, I then heard the manager or possibly owner saying to other guests, that they wanted wealthy people to come and drink wine at the pub and these kind of customers didn't want dogs around them. Well this gentleman needs to realise that dog owners are also wealthy customers and they are quiet happy to be surrounded by them. I fear that this is no longer the pub to pop into after a nice walk around the park and will be taking my business to the gastropub on Crimp Hill.

It’s a wonderful location and I assume the only reason the pub survives, as it’s not the food or service that keeps it open. Food ok - overpriced for what they were, service - what service? Meals bought out in stages (not together) some of the group had a 10 minute wait. Drinks we got them ourselves from the bar! No checks or apologies for the staggered food delivery, no ‘was the food nice - would you like to see the desert menu etc…. - all what you’d typically expect if a restaurant (what they market themselves as) is looking after its guests. Hence my dismay at being charged 12.5% of the bill for ‘service’ - then when questioning this at payment- was abruptly told ‘don’t come back if you don’t like paying for service’ by the stuck up older waitress. I don’t mind paying for anything , service included, if I get it - what I don’t expect is to be charged for something I didn’t get and to simply be told go away we don’t need your business and we’ll charge whatever we want, This pub used to be nice

At first impression this was a nicely decorated pub with tables set for dining in almost all areas. My friend had popped in to book in person earlier in the day and chosen a table with the staff, next to a radiator as I get very cold. We had to wait on arrival for our table to be made ready and then we were shown to a different table than the one he booked. There was a radiator but it was not on, there were potato chips and ketchup on the floor by the legs of the chair which I had to point out as the person showing us to the table was unaware. We then waited for these to be cleared away. The menus were all creased and slightly grubby printed sheets of A4. I asked for a GF menu so they brought me one of the same sheets with handwritten crosses and ticks on to show what I could and could not order. When the food came my friend's prawn and crab linguini looked ok but he said it was under seasoned, significantly bland. I had ordered the burger with salad and chips, minus the bun. I was expecting a hand made, thick, succulent beef patty with cheese melting into the top and a good amount of salad to accompany, not just a garnish. What I received was a small, overcooked, flat burger with a slice of processed, orange coloured, cheese on top. A small salad garnish (small) and some pale looking chips. To say the plate of food was underwhelming would be kind ... it was awful ! Plus it cost nearly £20 !!!!! A Macdonalds would have been better cooked and more appetising. The waitress didn't check up on us for ages. I was hungry so did eat the food but is tasted as bad as it looked. I visited the ladies toilets twice. Once on arrival and once before leaving. On both occasions the facility was unclean with a wet floor and pieces of toilet paper on the floor. Surfaces did not look clean. To top off a terrible meal they closed the bar exceptionally early and started cleaning (mop and bucket out in front of the main bar area) whilst we were still sat at the table !! We will not be going back.

A local gem! Fantastic food and with particular mention to our special server Emma, whom could not have done more to make the experience more memorable and enjoyable for myself and family

Good food with really good pizza. Dogs allowed in the pub. Nice outside area, it must be lovely in the warmer days. Service was good despite us being super difficult to serve (big group not well organised).

Can’t comment on the food as I left. Strange experience. Invited to take a seat for lunch then totally ignored for 20 mins. And there was no shortage of staff.

Had eaten here twice before and the food was generally good. However, before eating, I had to go back to my car in the restaurant car park to retrieve something to give to my family members who were already at our table. I was approached by a very confrontational male with a European accent in his 40s who told me to move my car. My vehicle was parked at the back of the car park and I was very careful to make sure that it wasn't parked in front of a nearby container (part of the Fox & Hounds cold storage) as I could see that a door access was always in use. When I questioned what the parking problem was, his immediate reply was "I'm not telling you again". I got into a slanging match which included expletives (which he started). Another taller fair-haired middle aged with glasses was with him and witnessed the scene. They were evidently dealing with some food supplies to the pub. I asked the aggressive guy if he was part of the restaurant's Management and the taller guy replied on his behalf in the affirmative. Anyhow, I moved the car because I thought there'd be a chance of returning later with flat tyres. I was practically fuming with rage. When I went to the restaurant's senior team members at the bar, I reported everything that happened. I even mentioned that if the same aggressive man came into the pub I'd call the police. The staff acknowledged what I said but did absolutely nothing to check out who I was talking about. For all they knew, these men could have been breaking and entering high value meat and fish storage but I some how feel it was more a case of apathy. When I left, I just felt that this horrendous experience over-shadowed my family get-together. Is this how loyal customers should feel when spending £162? I trust that the Directors involved with this Establishment will reply and take the above very seriously. Onto the food and service, a couple of things I'd like to note which frankly pale into insignificance versus the above. The beef croquettes starter is very good but with three smallish balls costing £13.50 they must've imported Wagyu beef from Japan. The Lamb Tagine was good but just three pieces of lamb with it. They made up for it though and brought extras. However it’s not helpful for the male staff member approached to state “it’s the luck of the draw” with this dish. I’m sorry but “wrong response”!

Lovely peaceful setting, a stone's throw away from the busy A30 but ,very quite and rural. Sufficient parking right outside and, off the road, Pleasant greeting from the bar staff and providing excellent real ale too . Friendly waitering staff, clean table , clean cutlery Food however, is sadly compromised and rather equivalent to that expected sad Sunday roasts at a Tesco/Asda supermarket cafe - just not "there" unfortunately . Even the roast potatoes were hard instead of just crisp but dry inside ? The vegatables lacked sophistication and cooking techique The price however is alongside those at other nearby eateries ie Red Lion Chobham which provides constant high-end cooking , same price bracket and without the service charge automatically added at 12.5% !!! for what? They never once returned to the table to check if everything was OK but did return to mop up the wine she splilled !!
