The Front fish and chips in Northumberland

We visited the Front traditional fish & chop shop on spec! Our order was taken & the fish fried to order! We went onto Newbiggin promenade to enjoy our meal, and we were certainly not disappointed the fish was coated in a light crispy batter sitting on a bed of gorgeous chips dusted with salt &vinagar mmmmm. we would highly recommend this establishment

Delicious traditional fish and chips, very generous portions, all cooked fresh to order. Lovely staff too. Would thoroughly recommend. Yum yum!

On a day trip, we called in to this fish and chip shop. I am so glad we found it. This is a little gem. We placed our order which was delivered pretty quickly. Freshly made. We both had cod and chips and I have to say it was fantastic. The best fish and chips we'd had for ages. If you go to Newbiggin I an certainly recommend this place.

If you are ever in Newbiggin by the sea you have to go to the front chip shop amazing food we had the Haddock and COD fish it was amazing quality food, we had it delivered and they came on time and delivered by a really nice man, thank you for such lovely food.

The best chip shop we have ever been in, the fish is to die for, all cooked to order, makes our chip shops look shocking, you are so lucky to have this business on your doorstep..........

We had fish chips and mushy peas. We had a small portion. I couldn't finish mine. I think a large portion would probably feed a lot more than one person ! The fish was beautiful. Fresh, flakey and delicious and the mushy peas were yummy.

Absolutely terrible. Waited 15 mins for patty and chips with 6 staff working on deliveries. Less than a handful of chips with my fish patty and the potatoes slice in the patty was rock hard. Will not be back

The best fish and chips I've had in a very very long time. Fish was big (even the small fish was more than enough) It was really fresh and batter was thin. Definitely recommend. We've been twice already this week

Best fish and chips yet, enormous potions , the fish was beautiful. Can understand why it won the best fish and chips award. We're on holiday and will be visiting it again before we leave. The small portion is like most other chippies large portions

Might be the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! The fish was delicious and the chips were perfect, without being greasy! The staff were friendly and communicated really well. You can tell everything is cooked fresh and it’s well worth the wait!

Called her on the spur of the moment. Glad we did. Thoroughly enjoyed cod bites (large and tasty) and steak pie from the special. The food is excellent and value for money. The owner and staff are friendly and this restaurant is a little gem in the heart of Newbiggin by the sea. Thank you

I ordered on Uber Eats and within 20 minutes, my food was on my plate, piping hot and absolutely delicious! The Fish was crispy but extremely flaky and the batter was perfect, not too thick and not dripping in oil like other places I've tried. I ordered a small fish and I'm glad I did as even the small was a good size. The chips were absolutely lovely, as was the peas and gravy too! Highly recommend The Front Fish and Chip shop. 10/10 :)

Best chippy out there! I don’t know what the other reviewers are thinking. My fish was lovely and tasty! The batter was perfect quality and the ratio between fish and batter was on point. We’ve been twice now (last was last year) and he remembered us when we arrived. Such a lovely man. 100000% recommend

We tried The Front Fish and Chips in 2022 not long after they had opened, they were excellent. Somehow in 2023 they have managed to get even better. Great Fish and Chips served by great staff. Recommended.

So disappointed. We hear great things about this place and ordered a takeaway from Uber. The food was over an hour late, the restaurant didn’t answer their phone, or reply to a request for an update. More disappointing was the food was stone cold, and bland. Needless to say we won’t be returning, don’t waste your money.

Beautiful chippy. Zee the owner went out of his way to make sure my order of food was perfect. He give me and my family free samplers of food to try. Staff were so nice and food was 10 out of 10. Definitely will be back soon. Keep up the good work and friendly service. Davey Duff

We tried this place as it had apparently won and award and was mentioned in the local press. The batter on the fish was awful . Thick and bendy like something on a bad school dinner . The scraps were the same , big blobs of thick horrible batter . Also it was virtually cold despite eating them 100 yards away . These are the worst fish and chips I have ever had in the north east . Go up the road to Blyth if you want better . I really do not recommend and will not return .
