The Garden House in Birmingham

Wish we had found this place before. Food and staff amazing, Theresa our waitress was so lovely and helpful. Steak was lovely, squid starter was lush, followed by the steak and ale pie. Will definitely return when we are back up this way.

Loved this place! Came for a catch up with some old friends and from start to finish our service from Treresa was spot on! She had us belly laughing and really knew how to look after us, food was nice and beautiful decor! Only down fall was my friend deciding to drink Guinness 0% :O but i suppose its good they cater for all. Will be back again! Thank you

Mixed up orders and caused an allergic reaction because of this. Took over 2 hours to have lunch despite being one of the first few in there. Staff need direction just to take plates away after course was done. Served lukewarm tea. Very shoddy service, couldn't even crack a smile

A great Mobday afternoon find inside the unassuming exterior - plenty of parking, warm & welcoming, properly dog-friendly in the bar area, with a broad range of food and some interesting twists like the Garden Plot Medley, and the Signature Burger with Marmite mayo. Alex looked after us really well - it's nice to give praise where it's earned!

We came here for date night and everything was just amazing! The food, the drink and the atmosphere was perfect. But our server Taylor made our night! Made sure we had everything we needed and gave us such a laugh. She is an absolute credit to the company. We will be back for sure! :)

We just walked in and managed to be squeezed in, very busy so recommend booking. Very friendly and attentive staff, and the food was sublime 👌. Had rib of beef, so tender and flavoursome, while partner had the trio, again everything was perfect, down to the veg and giant Yorkshire pud. 100% recommend for Sunday dinner.

WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY Having frequented this pub regularly until 2022, we visited after about 18 months today. And such disappointment. The steak was over cooked, dry and tasteless, terrine smelt horrid and the chicken and bacon in the sandwich was dry and probably just heated from frozen. The prices have been increased by 20% with deteriorating quality. The waiter was defensive and loud when we gave a feedback.

I visited on 13 October for a vegetarian carvery , it was reheated & that hard I was unable to chew , I asked for a refund , which I am still waiting for 20 mins later I asked at the till if the refund had been done , as he said he didn’t require my payment card I have a refund receipt, which only shows an amount & not my payment details , clearly I have been mislead by Richard who served me Absolutely awful customer service & am still waiting for my money back

Was looked after by the lovely Theresa. Had the Garden Plot Medly. Very tasty and beautifully presented. Compliments to the chef. THERESA is always attentive, great service.

Not great food and service was variable. I think that we were at shift change which seriously hampered service. Rear car park is spacious but pretty tight to get in and out

As a group of friends that like to lunch the location is perfect. On this occasion we were served by the lovely Theresa. She engaged with us, her friendly banter was spot on, she should join us next time! The service was prompt, the food was delicious and lovely afternoon was had by us all.

Had a steak or beef pie, the pie was tasty BUT it was mostly pastry and the interior of it was cavernous due to the lack of meat in the meat pie so much so that when anybody at our table spoke too loud you could hear an echo in the pie. I'm sur you get the picture!

We were a group of 8 ladies with a table booked for lunch. It was quiet in there but the service was first class we were served by Theresa who was very patient with us. Food was lovely although the fish cake was only a small portion it left room for dessert which was equally scrumptious

Very different to how it used to be but still served nice food

Particularly liked the look of a special “Salmon Wellington”. Glad I chose it because it was fabulous. First of all it was a good chunk of fine salmon. Then it was wrapped with light, delicate puff pastry and accompanied by beautiful peppered roast potatoes and delicious cabbage, all topped with a rich hollandaise sauce. Theresa served it all up with cheer and charm and we thank her. Great!

Dined here recently, after some pause, I was hoping it had improved. food quality is still average. overpriced menu. The service is good.

My friend and I, who is in a wheelchair visited this establishment today. This is wheelchair accessible premises. We had lovely servers Sam and. The food was of an amazing standard the quality and presentation were superb, portion sizes are large. My friend and I will definitely be back.

'Alex' our waiter was superb, very attentive, we never felt like we were left waiting for anything. The food and atmosphere was superb, very chilled out - which is exactly what we wanted. I have lunch here occasionally with my elderly Mum. The food and service are always top notch. Special mention for Theresa who is kind and attentive, and always makes us feel welcome.

Come here occasionally when we're back in the City and the food is always great, setting is really nice and Theresa always looks after us. Easily the best waitress at any restaurant we've been to.

First time visiting the Garden House and it won't be the last either. Great food, good beer, lovely atmosphere all at a reasonable price. Paul went out of his way in making sure my wife's needs were catered for from supplying white pepper to making her a Bailey's coffee which she absolutely loved. Lovely way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Many thanks and see you soon hopefully.

I went here for dinner with my partner on a Monday evening. We've been meaning to come here for quite some time. The pub is really lovely. It's large and decorated well, and feels very welcoming despite being right on the Hagley Road - I might even go so far as to say it's a hidden gem! There's a great garden space round the back, which is well maintained aside from the tables, which could do with a sand and repaint. Overall, a perfect outdoor spot for a few summer drinks with family and friends. The staff were friendly and the range of drinks on offer was good. The loos were clean and smelled nice. For food - there were only a few vegetarian meals on the menu. I had the Mushroom and Ale Pie with Chips and my partner had the Vegetable Grill. The pie was nice, but could have been a little fuller and would have benefitted from a generous pinch of salt! The Vegetable Grill was a little disappointing; for £15.99 it was an (albeit large) plate of grilled vegetables and chips, served with gravy. It could very easily be elevated with the addition of some herbs + balsamic glaze on the veg, removing the gravy, and the presence of a veggie sausage or two. Pudding definitely felt like a redemption! My partner's sundae was absolutely fab and my chocolate fondant was the most chocolately pudding I've had in a long time - really delightful. It's also worth saying that we were not offered the 2 courses for £16.50 menu on entry. If we had been offered this, my partner likely would have chosen the pie and avoided disappointment! Also worth noting that there is a function room for hire and large car park, but I am unsure of the cost of parking.

Food is always delicious! Great atmosphere and really good deals. Staff are nice and friendly as well. Fish was tasty and the chocolate dome pudding was to die for! Very chocolately though!

I really enjoy this venue, the garden is beautiful and the atmosphere is lovely. Usually food has been decent. Yesterday, admittedly for the first time, I had a Sunday roast. I’m usually only one to post negatively, but I was so disappointed and flabbergasted by my experience, I must share. Most of it was at best frozen and otherwise terrible. If those roast potatoes were not frozen, the chef should be ashamed. I must have been forced to intake my year’s allocation of salt in that one seating and meal. We were not asked if everything was ok with our meal until we proceeded to leave. At which stage, as an introvert you just say thank you. Maybe the restaurant staff know. Oddly enough the table next to us complained about salt too…

Meal before concert in Birmingham. It is the place we always go to now before spending evening in the city. Served by Paul who was excellent.

Was excited to try this as we always pass it on the way home, the menu looked good, plenty of space to park and the restaurant looks nice inside. However the waitress wasn't polite and we ended up leaving due to her negative attitude. She did seem to be the only person working the front of house and seemed a little bothered that new customers arrived but the restaurant was quiet. When we asked if it was table service or order at the bar she said, "I'll come to you but I'm busy with coffees now so your gonna have to wait". Like I said she may have been only person working but I didn't want to carry on with my experience here so decided it best to leave. Shame as I really want to try the food as the reviews and pictures look great. May try again later in the year. When going out for food I like to experience good food and service and I try my best to be fair with my reviews. However I didn't feel like it was going to be any better with what I experienced today but that's not to say I won't give it a second shot.

Our waitress was amazing on every level very attentive, friendly, funny made us all feel at home, she knew her customers excellent customer service one of the best. Can't thank her enough. Will definitely return probably every Sunday! Great place, not too busy plenty of space indoors & out. Really lovely place very highly recommended.

The food is absolutely stunning we were greeted by Lisa who did a little dance as she took us to our table ,we were waited on by super Sam who really couldn't do enough to make our visit so great ,the coffee was stunning and came with a melt in the mouth cookie witch was divine, definitely the best pub lunch we've had so far and we have quite a few ,its now our go to place .A MUST GREAT ALLROUNDER ,Lisa and Sam were born to help people they are just amazing 👏

Food was excellent - the steak/ale pie has plenty of filling, chiefs special chicken was delicious and lovely cooked piece of fish. All in all a lovely meal and would recommend.

Not been for several years when it was a great place to go. It was early on a Sunday so empty only had a coffee. Outside was bathed in sunshine.
