Food was really disappointing, it was covered in grease and tasted like an incredibly worse version of oven food. Service was really slow and it took ages for our food to arrive. Staff lack customer service, and did not care about the quality of food when it was brought to their attention. Honestly it seems like an alright place for the occasional drink, but it was really disappointing to be served poor quality food - especially when the dish was recommended by their menu. Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing so I can’t justify a higher rating.

We went for breakfast + a visit to Santa's grotto. The quality of the food was excellent, and the Santa's grotto was absolutely amazing - our 2yo really enjoyed the experience!

Very good, went for my grandads 70th birthday food was fast great service all work very well. I would 100% recommend coming to The Gate and I will be here in the future 5 stars.

I have multiple food intolerances. I'm also vegetarian. I couldn't find anything that I could eat on the menu so I ordered a Chicken and Bacon Salad and asked for it without the chicken and bacon but requested extra salad. I was brought a plateful of lettuce with a tiny amount of tomato and avocado. I was still charged the same as if it had chicken and bacon.

In general this is a good experience and a place I would go again however the attitude of the gentleman that worked begins the bar was unacceptable. As we were settling in my three year old decided to step on one lf the chairs and he came over and told me off like I was the three year old. Our dinner was ruined from this point on. Not much more to say

Absolutely awful experience, everywhere online it shows that it opens from 11am, even their own website. I arranged a group trip from a care home with elderly residents and we arrived at 11 and had to wait outside with vulnerable residents. When we actually managed to get in, ordered cakes and teas and cakes arrived before the teas which we were waiting very long for. Then they don’t have any vegan milk. Then only one soap dispenser has soap in the ladies bathroom (so they don’t even top it up before opening).

We went for the regular quiz on Tuesday and the manager was the host of the quiz instead of the usual guy who runs it. He was incredibly rude to my mother and accused her of telling him to get on with the quiz when she had only asked politely. He came over to our table and made it personal. I was shocked with his behaviour. We’ve been coming to the gate for almost six months and this was by far the worst experience we’ve had there.

Super Saturday lunch and sampled the newly revamped menu. We liked the emphasis on a broader selection of chef’s specials as we are very familiar with the staples items on offer. I also appreciated the options for non fried fish and went for the oven baked sole dish. Mum had the slow cooked beef blade with mash and broccoli and rich gravy. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back soon. Thanks to the charming Max for looking after us so well.

Amazing warm welcoming staff, the place to come if you want great service and a relaxing pint, also very helpful if you need booking the function area, always clean and tidy and get a crisp pint, menu has a great variety and always cooked to perfection, I recommend this pub to everyone I know.

Great grilled sea bass in a cozy pub.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my meal of fish and chips and glass of Merlot (I know ideally it should've been paired with white but I was going to go for a burger). I say surprised, because a friend had said she'd eaten there a couple of times and the food wasn't great (She admitted it had been a long while ago). Wanting to make my own mind up I thought I'd try it using a discount code I had. I really enjoyed the experience and as such will definitely go back. Ir was clearly a popular place and had a nice atmosphere. Thank you.

Visited The Gate for my uncles wake. We did two visits, first as a break between Mass and Cremation and then for a buffet. Food was amazing. Staff courteous and 100% approachable. The only glitch was not being able to have a cup of tea after the buffet, I understand there was a hot water problem but that didn't have a huge impact as there were several other options. I'm really grateful to the team for helping to give my uncle a great send off.

The best thing about places you go to is that they are as good as you expect them to be. That is exactly the case with The Gate. Service was really good, friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is what you would expect from a typical english pub and the most important thing is that the food is exactly what you expect, my son and I ordered starter and burger each, you get what you paid for, cooked lovely, compliments to the cheff. Will I come back ? Definitely, yes.

It was a nice place where you can easily reach and find parking place. Very calö and peaceful I may say. Prices are normal according to the London Pubs. Foods are food as well. You can enjoy the day with your feiends in here. If you are close to this region and want to have drink, food and chat, it is recommended to come The Gate. Service and the atmosphere is quite good as well.

Absolutely lovely food. Lasagne had can amazing taste. Salad and garlic sour bread beautiful the salad dressing was amazing. Just to make it a 10 out of 10 was the cheese cake to finish. Very friendly staff. My Dog was also welcomed x

A pleasant and professional young man, Kavi was attentive and added to our overall positive impression of a neighbourhood gastropub. We booked The Gate on the 1st of June for our sons first holy communion . We had the best experience here from start to finish . The buffet food was amazing staff were really hard working . A special mention to Lisa and Graham you guys made the experience for us all you went above and beyond. All of our guests had a great time . Bar staff were all incredibly helpful . I met friend for a drink after work and some snacks- the nachos were absolutely delicious! The service was efficient, staff were helpful, and the atmosphere was very calm and relaxed. I will definitely visit again. You do however have to tap in your numberplate once you enter the pub if you are using the carpark, I had overlooked this and received a fine which the manager , was able to reverse for me Excellent service

Nice pub with a pleasant atmosphere but has lazy staff that need training. They have no idea on customer service, to busy chatting amongst themselves to realise that tables need clearing. Not a single glass cleared in 3 hours..

Lovely place to be. Extremely supportive staff, polite and well spoken. Draught Beers are nice with some really popular ones available. The ambience is cool with plenty of parking.
