Lightly spiced beef Sunday roast cooked to perfection, delicious and fresh veg and cracking toasties. Great service and atmosphere, lovely lazy afternoon here.

We were a little dubious on arrival as the outside of the venue looked a little unkempt and the windows were very dirty. We were seated as we had made a reservation, and were shocked to see food scraps from the previous evening still on the table and the floor around the table had obviously not seen a hoover or brush from the last diners (which was the previous day as we were first in at opening). We cleaned the table ourselves and decided to stay as we had heard positive things about the food. I have to say we are glad we stayed and gave it a chance as the food was outstanding. Every dish we ordered was not only delicious but portions were great. We are not sure if the cleaner had not turned up that day or it’s something that needs to be looked at especially as there were areas of the venue which needed some attention, including the cleanliness of the gents toilets, but the food was amazing and you can’t take anything away from that. Just a shame the cleanliness let the overall experience down.

Really really impressed. Great food choice with 'small plates' meaning you can order tapas style, with the loaded chips being a twist on the traditional curry and chips offer. You could tell the food was freshly cooked and tasted fresh too. Great value too. Oh and the choice of pub music was spot on wanted to stay longer!

We enjoyed our visit very much. Brilliant mix of British and Indian food in a cosy pub atmosphere. Great music too. Highly recommended!

Food was sooo good! Definitely will be returning so many more things in the menu that was hard to decide between. Our waiter Charlie was really pleasant and couldn't do enough making sure we had everything we needed and make the experience even better :)

Absolutely amazing. We had the platter which was so much food. The food was amazing quality and the mac and cheese bites were everything. I wish I could bottle up the butter sauce as its to die for!!!

Had the Christmas sharer, it was fantastic they mac and cheese bits the best ive ever tasted, the tacos 🔥🔥 everything was spot on, only criticism the chicken wings could of done with being more charred, that bowel of curry sauce needs to be bigger as well 😉 we definatly recommend this place and for £45 for 2 its a bargain. We Will 100% be back

A lovely afternoon with friends, all had the sharing board, very nice but couple more dipping selection of sauces would be nice! Michelle made us feel very welcome and recommended us the lamb chops, which were 10/10

The food is stunning. We’ve been a few time and ordered different dishes every time and never had a bad meal. And Michelle working front of house is a pleasure. She goes above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need. 10/10 all round!

Our first time here and we have loved it. We got a few starters so we could try various dishes and it fid not disappoint!! Michelle and the rest of the tram6were wonderful and the service was really quick.

The worst meal I’ve had in a long time. My starter was popadoms the onions were swimming in oil, yogurt was a green salty offering. I got the chicken tikka burger. Dry and tasteless I didn’t eat it very disappointed ☹️

Seen this place and gave it a try..we ordered poppadom and dips..poppadom were fine..the dips were terrible. The yogurt sauce was like pure salt taste and zero yoghurt taste..the onions and lime pickle were swimming in oil..main 2 chicken tandoori burgers with bhaji cheese and chili burger sauce..no chili burger sauce. A smidgen of cheese and the rest was like chewing on the Sahara desert..the chips were great by the way..we eat out alot but the food seriously needs sorting out..shame as the pub had a really good atmosphere

Had a really good night. Food and atmosphere was brilliant, with really pleasant staff. Charlie the waiter couldn't do enough for us, and was always there if we needed anything.

One of the best meals we have had eating out, we had the platter. Left stuffed to the hilt, couldn't eat it all. Some very tasty concoctions to tickle your palate. Can't wait to return to try the christmas menu. Thanks for a memorable meal

Came on a Thursday, and the food was incredible. We had the nan-za, masala chips, prawns and a tikka masala curry which the chef changed to paneer for us. Really incredible food and probably the best masala I’ve had in a long time. Lovely service from Michelle too. Highly recommend!

My first time dining here, my family have been several times and always enjoyed the experience so decided to give a try, had the Sunday roast which was a unique roast dinner with an Indian twist. Would not recommend visiting here! Myself and my husband visited with family for a meal, the food took 2 hours to come out and when it arrived it was very poor! The service was poor throughout the night, not enough staff were working which is not ideal on a busy Friday evening, no one came to check on our table or clear away any plates or empty glasses. I ordered a butter chicken which tasted disgusting and was spicy despite a butter chicken being a mild dish, upon advising the chef of this he became very defensive and said that a butter chicken is spicy depending where you get it from and that his food is the best Indian around! You should not be a chef if you cannot handle basic criticism! My husband asked for a refund as I had not eaten of my food other than one small bite, the chef was extremely rude and said to my husband “I don’t know what council estate food you’re used to but this is authentic Indian” this situation could have been handled a lot better had the chef been polite and professional, not rude and degrading towards customers! I would highly recommend that you go elsewhere and do not waste your money!

It felt like a scene out of a reality cooking show, but not in a good way. Following this I was told to leave the resteraunt numerous times in front of other customer's, which was just embarrassing. It’s safe to say I won't be returning, and I suggest others think twice before dining here. Save your money for a place that values its customers and handles feedback appropriately.

Ate here multiple times and the service was amazing the food is out of this world and cater to everyone can’t recommend this place enough

Went here for my granddaughter birthday. The food was lovely.It did take a little longer than usual, we expected this due to being a larg party. The staff altho rushed off there feet & no doubt the chefs were also very busy. Were pleasant and polite. We had the korma with garlic bread on the side , cooked to perfection 👌, Thankyou so much to all the staff & the chef for the service. Would recomend

What a little gem! Family friendly pub, especially Sunday when they have kids corner on. But the food was exceptional. Not had something of this quality for an absolute age. If you’re a fan of an Indian and a decent pint pay this place a visit.

Great service as always I’d consider this my local. Family and dog friendly any time of the week. Amazing food and drink served by the best of staff you couldn’t find anywhere else in Tyldesley. Credit to the owners who have hit the ground running with a beautiful establishment. I’ve eaten here time and time again with either friends or family. The menu is always suited to anyone with any type of appetite.

Surprised by the flavours here. But based on good, hearty pub grub. The Madras buttermilk coating on the chicken burger is a star as are the Keema fries.

First visit tonight but won’t be last best curry I’ve had for a long time.

Some seriously good food on offer here at Ale & Aloo. I originally went in June to try the sharing platter and felt we put a good effort in but was too much food to finish on this occasion. Went again yesterday to sample the rest of the small plates from menu and everything was excellent, especially the keema fries. Worth noting they stop the sharing platter after 5pm on Friday and Saturdays

The food here is amaizing, they have done a great twist on Indian food. You can get your traditional British currys which taste really good. My suggestion would be to try some of the classic pub food with a twist they are really good. My personal favourites are the Naanza, Madras chicken tenders, Chicken Tika Kebab and the Butter chicken. There's a great selection of draught beers and spirits. 10/10 would recomend.

First time at Ale and Aloo tonight for my partner’s birthday. Lovely, friendly service, with Michelle going above and beyond. The food was also tasty, hot and quick to arrive (even on a Saturday evening). The special Lamb ‘birria’ tacos were particularly good. Will definitely be back!

Great food, eat here most weekends would definitely recommend the sharing platter for 2 but it feeds 4 of us . Always greeted by very pleasant staff especially Michelle who works behind the bar very friendly and always smiling .If u haven't tried here yet I would go give it a go .

Delicious freshly cooked curry made and served with love and appreciation for its customers. A* experience from start to finish, I can't really say much else! I'd highly recommend the Chicken Vindaloo!

Best avoided. Also beware of the sheer amount of fake 5 star reviews. Most of these people have only 1 reviews to their names. Claims everything is fresh but this is untrue. Samosas rock hard, chicken tikka is not proper chicken tikka and naan breads are out of a packet. How can you call yourself an Indian restaurant and not have a tandoor oven? The drinks on offer are also limited and the guiness here is of a poor quality. Not cheap either for the quality. Batter on the Korean chicken was awful and the paneer was rubbery. If you're expecting decent Indian food don't come. The chips were laughably low quality. Cheap nasty oven chips. The keema start came with barely any mince as well. One to be avoided.

As we'd seen a few Facebook comments, we thought we'd give it a go. It's a chilled pub atmosphere, with great music, which we really liked. Food was lovely so even brought the leftovers home. Good vegetarian selection too. Service was quick and efficient, thanks Michelle 😊

Food all over menus, (dirty) starter bowls dirty and dips all over bottom of dish and bowls. Very cluttered tables very close to each other. Main course ok nothing special won’t be back so sad to say this as we loved the gatehouse before.

Visited with husband and dog , very friendly and welcoming. Dog given treats and water, and made a fuss of . Was quite busy but service was so good . Food was served promptly by the lovely staff . Special shout out to Michelle , so efficient and friendly. Food was excellent, really tasty , beautiful butter chicken ! This is such a find …. Deserves to be a massive success . We dropped into The Gatehouse and were delighted that we could be squeezed in for a bite to eat- a rare occurrence these days as nearly everywhere has to be pre booked . We had a couple of drinks and chose 5 tapas style meals. All were delicious. We were well looked after by the staff, particularly Ella who was attentive. Looking forward to our next visit.

got an Indian takeaway tonight, ordered a chicken tikka masala for some sort of vindaloo im guessing, greasy spicy, awful. Also ordered a korma, just tasted of coconut milk. Will not be ordering again.

Third time we’ve been here, and the food was excellent as usual.

Had some fantastic food. The lamb chops are to die for. The butter chicken curry is delicious, and the garlic Nan is beautiful. Overall a fab Friday afternoon.

We travelled over 50 miles for the MadrAss kicking platter, it was incredible. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our belly’s but we took a doggy bag home with us. Sunday dinner with a superb tasting, subtly spiced difference

We came here today as a party of 7, 4 adults and 3 children. My youngest child has allergies to milk and eggs. Michelle was very helpful and recommended making a curry with no milk or egg from scratch for my little one. The chef even came out and said it will be no bother as he makes everything from scratch. Overall a very good experience they had a kids eat free promotion for the summer holidays and board games and Disney films on for the kids. It was great to watch them play and enjoy a delicious butter chicken and a specially made curry for my allergen child. The owner even came out to check how allergic my son was to speak about cross contamination and make sure he was safe with it just incase (which was a lovely touch as no one usually cares). Members of our party had the platter which got demolished. I had the chikkin tikka bon bons and a chicken korahi and pilau rice which was full of flavour. Definitely a new family favourite. Thank you for having us and we will be back to try the Sunday dinner. Maybe next week.

Have just been on a Sunday for another visit with the family. The food is once again outstanding, service is fantastic, nothing is too much trouble for the lovely couple that run it, they are regularly coming out and checking everything is going well. A special mention to Michelle on the bar, and the other girls sorry I don't know your names but they work so hard. 5 stars every time! Thank you 😊

The Gatehouse in Tyldesley offers a cozy atmosphere and outstanding Indian cuisine, with their small plates and butter chicken—easily the best I’ve ever had—being real highlights. Michelle, is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall great experience. Whether for the incredible food or the warm vibe, The Gatehouse is a must-visit.

Absolutely gorgeous Sunday roast, with a subtle spice twist. I’m not a big lover of roast dinners ordinarily but I’d happily have this one again and again. My only constructive feedback would be for it to be slightly warmer, however this did not distract from how delicious this meal was. The cost was also reasonable and comparable to restaurants nearby.

We visited with my daughter and her partner who’d eaten here before. We ordered the mix platter for 4 - we hadn’t expected so much food! It was delicious though and all washed down with a pint of Paradise no 3 - a great IPA.
