Great pub for food or just a drink, always people in and a great atmosphere at the weekends. Quiz night on a Thursday. Recommend to book a table for quiz or food.

A rabbit warren of a place with rooms leading off from each other all round the bar. A varied menu with some unusual dishes with an eastern Mediterranean influence. We only stayed for lunch so I can't comment on the hotel side of the business. It's dog friendly in the bar area, they aren't allowed in the restaurant part, of course. It's all on one level downstairs so it's wheelchair accessible but it could be a bit tricky near the slot machine!

We called in for lunch only so I can't comment on the rooms etc. Real Ales available and it's dog friendly too, they aren't allowed in the restaurant area of course. There were lots of different dishes on the menu including loaded flat breads and kebabs. The whole area is on one level and wheelchair accessible although there is a narrow part where a gaming machine has been placed, close to the bar.

My favourite watering hole in Barton upon Humber. Great service, great staff who are friendly and always have a warm welcome. Great selection of beers, including cask ale. There is plenty of seating both inside and out. Past winner of 2 in a bed so that says all you need to know about food and accommodation. Peter ( host) also has a market stall at Barton Market where you can but fab homemade pies etc. Worth a visit.

What an amazing evening meal. Partner had the hanger steak he felt like he was in a different country, I had the gammon and although a little salty it was divine, the peppercorn sauce was the best we have tasted. Massive well done.

Just wanted to say how wonderful our meal at the George inn was. We celebrated our anniversary weekend here on the Friday night and our table was decorated beautifully with hearts and a red rose. The two young ladies who waited on us were wonderful and so was the food. A great wine list and tasteful hot food served excellently. We would fully recommend eating here. I hope the restaurant owner appreciates these two young ladies, as it is rare nowadays for this age group to be so attentive and good at their job. We would love to return soon.

Absolutely fantastic food. My husband had the pork chop which he was raving about for some time after. I decided to have the option of three starters with chips.... all were delicious but there was far too much food for me!!! Eyes greedier than belly!! A few nights later, we went in on spec hoping for a table. The place was buzzing as it was a Friday night, but the lovely young man on the bar managed to find us a table where we indulged in the best fish and chips I've had in YEARS! All washed down with a couple of pints of Black Sheep, and the fish and chips were on 2 for 1!!! Highly recommend this pub. Great staff, fabulous food and an excellent choice of beers.

Came here for Sunday lunch with family and our dog - the main reason we booked was this place looked very dog friendly - and it is. There is a lounge bar area where dogs are allowed and a separate restaurant too (no dogs). The food was fantastic, as was the service from the friendly cheerful staff. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. No rush to be finished and away. Highly recommended.

Can’t offer any feedback on accommodation as met friends for a meal as it was recommended to us. Lovely looking pub with good selection of ales. Nice varied seating - bar area, conservatory and patio. Now for the 2 star review : Limited menu. Starter came out with main courses. Main meals around £20 - I wouldn’t pay £10 for what we served with. The burger came with supermarket cheap buns, chips overdone, salad was just lettuce, schnitzel was not a proper schnitzel (battered chicken), fried chicken were not as good as my son has from Tesco. The manger was lovely though. Agreed with our points and did offer a round of drinks or a discount. We took the discount and headed to a pub to have deserts, coffees and a drink on our way home 😩

Met friends Christmas Eve at 7pm for a drink (8 of Us) . No Beer only Lager, Cider or Guinness on draft. When ordering Gin & Tonic only two choices of Gin. Then next run out of Tonic, then next no crisps or nuts or anything like. Then at 8.55 they called last orders. When a few of us asked staff what the problem was, they said they had been busy & run out. They said they had to close early as some staff had young children & needed to get home for them and that they had a busy day ahead tomorrow??? This management obviously need training on running a Pub. We won’t be going back

I was a little disappointed to find there were only a couple of choices on the menu for vegetarians, but the staff were at pains to point out that it's only a temporary menu. The pasta dish sounded a bit large for lunchtime, so we went for the mushroom and halloumi burger, but neither of us wanted a large meal so we asked for the burger without the bun (it came with chips, and who can refuse chips?!). All the food is freshly cooked, so there was quite a wait, but instead of a burger and chips on a plate what arrived was an arty concoction with a bowl made of outer lettuce leaves containing a mushroom and grilled halloumi stack, all delicately arranged on a slate. The chips came beautifully presented in a small basket. It was delicious and we were suitably impressed.

We eaten here twice since the new owners took over and it's been great both times. I can't give a wide range of what the whole menu's like because we had the same meal again the second time because we enjoyed it so much! Steak and ale pie for OH and sausage and mash for me. Second time was with friends and they loved the sirloin steak and the chicken and leek pie. Pies are big and look handmade. Vegetables are beautifully cooked too, all in all a brilliant experience. Service was great and a fair price so we are going back soon! They do veggie and vegan food too which is handy as we have both in the family.

We're sitting in the restaurant having just finished an excellent meal in pleasant surroundings served by attentive and pleasant staff. Our meals were interesting, hot and totally delicious. Mike's steak and ale pie had scrummy pastry with no soggy bottom and lots of meat. I had a generous portion of chicken forrestier accompanied dauphinoise potatoes which were positively unctious. The seasonal vegetables were beautifully cooked too. The George seems to have fallen on its feet and we hope that it now goes from strength to strength. If you haven't been since it reopened you must try it. It's excellent value for money and it should become Barton's best restaurant! It's so nice to have scrumptious food served beautifully - and on tables with white cloths too.

Our food arrived promptly, a steak and ale pudding for me and a blue cheese burger for my son. Both were equally delicious and perfectly cooked and with real, home made chips. The staff were magic, my bike was safely locked in a wood-shed, and I was led upstairs to a fantastic spacious room with a bath! Just what I needed after a bike ride in the wind and rain. Then, downstairs for a good fish and chip supper in the bar with a couple of pints of real craft beer which wasn't at all over-priced. The owners were ever-present, friendly, cheerful, and helpful. We rang to book our Valentine's dinner here on the Tuesday evening and were given a choice of what time we wanted to eat so we opted for 7.30pm. At the time of ringing I was asked if I could pre-order our meal from the menu but I was unable to do so as I couldn't bring up the Valentine's menu online. I was then told I could call in and collect a menu so I did this the following evening. We arrived half an hour early for our meal so we could relax next to the log burner near the bar area. We ordered a bottle of house white wine and had it served in a bucket of ice which went down nicely in front of the cozy log burner. We was shown to our table at 7.30 and didn't have to wait long for our starter to come out. I chose the salmon parcel with prawns for starter and it came out very well presented and tasted delicious. My wife chose the flat mushroom with goat's cheese and that also looked well presented and tasted good. We both opted for Fillet steak on a filo pastry tartlet with a mushroom sauce. This was served with a couple of heart shaped potato rossi, salad, mini corn, mangetout and carrots. The dish came out very nicely presented and the steak was of a large size, cooked just right as I asked for medium and my wife had medium rare. We was feeling rather full after this so asked if our dessert could be delayed for half an hour or so. We were told they could delay it by about 15 minutes maximum so we told them that would be fine. Anyhow after 35 minutes our dessert arrived so our other food had settled nicely. I opted for the citrus cheesecake and my wife had the chocolate valentino. These very nicely presented although there was no ice cream on the chocolate valentino (maybe this was our fault as we asked for it to be delayed). Both desserts tasted lovely although the chocolate love hearts tasted like cheap chocolate.

I visited here on a thursday night which is steak night. I opted for the T-Bone steak. I asked for it to be cooked medium and it was ok on the sirloin side but is was fairly thin on the fillet side so more well done. It didn't bother me too much as it did taste quite nice and the home cooked chips were lovely. The mushrooms were like tinned mushrooms so didn't taste the best. The onion rings were lovely as they looked home made and the grilled tomato was good. I opted for an eton mess for dessert. It came out well presented, was very big and tasted very nice. I would probably try this restaurant again but would opt for something different from the steak.

Popped in on a Sunday to check out The George as we are moving to the area and I was pleasantly surprised. I lived nearby many moons ago when the pub was badly decorated and full of loud youngsters. How times have changed! The tasteful decor is warm and inviting and the log fire was a welcome addition on such a cold day. The staff were friendly and attentive and service at the table was a welcome addition. We opted to eat from the menu and not have a Sunday roast. The menu was small but reasonably priced. We had the fish and chips which was nice, not greasy and with proper chips! The pudding obviously wasn't home made like the main but it was cheap and nice so I didn't really care. My parter was impressed with the amount of ales on tap and I can see us being regulars when we move!

After many years of eating at home at Christmas this has changed our attitude and will return again, many thanks to all staff at the George Inn who made this a special day to remember.

visiting as part of a group, I enjoyed the steak and chips special, good tender steak and HOME MADE proper chips - yummy! Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. The service was efficient and friendly, and not bad value either - would recommend.

The George is definitely our top pick when it comes to local pub food. Both the bar and restaurant area are comfortable and welcoming, staff are lovely, and the menu is reasonably priced, with a good range of delicious options.

We have, as a famly, visited several times. The food is always okay & generally the staff have been friendly, so when the weather scuppered our BBQ plans we took our friends there. With two young chlidren (2 year olds) we were sensibly placed down some stairs out of the way. The problem occurred when our children called for their fathers at the bar. At no point did they go up the stairs nor did they get in the way of staff (we were the only ones in this area). Full of chocolate our children were noisy at this point & I could understand this may have upset people. We quieten them down. Unfortunately, the waitress was upset with our children - speaking directly to one of them, she told him off for being noisy (rightly) & then proceeded to lecture him on being bad & a danger to staff/hot food/cultery. At no point had he climbed the stairs & at no point had he being in the way. I was horrified that she would speak to a 2 year like this & not directly to his parents. She made threats regarding a high chair & to evicting us from our table. This saddened us because, as previously mentioned, we had been before with no problem. We ate our food (from a menu that hasn't changed in a long time) & our children either sat down or by the table at all time. Even if we were the type of parents to let our children run round, we would not have done so because the same waitress had used a couple of chairs to keep the fire door open! Surely this would be a greater hazzard to the other customers than a couple of excitable children calling their fathers?

After living in Barton for so many years I decided to invite my family for a drink around Barton, this was instead of going out of town, in our group was six and we paid the following for the same round, our first stop was the Red Lion at £14.00, next stop was the Wheatsheaf at £21.00 and our final stop before our meal at the 'The Surma' was the george Inn at a staggering price of £32.00, price was double checked by staff after seeing the shock on our faces, Landlady did rudely confirm all was correct.... I therefore let you all decided if you want to get round in the George Inn in Barton, I can assure you with the overpriced charge and the very rude response from the landlady. This will not be visited again, this is from me and all my family, news travels fast......

Went here as a table of 9. Restaurant area was fairly quiet for a Saturday night. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food came out quickly and all good portion sizes for the money. Only downside I would say is the menu there is limited to what the menu is online, which we used to make sure there was something everyone liked. Wouldn't hesitate visiting again though :)

I was the designated driver attending a function with lots of friends. I was buying rounds of alcoholic drinks yet I had to pay £1.80 for a small bottle of water! As I was thirsty and the place was uncomfortably hot I had to buy 2 - £3.60 just for water!

I was with a large group of friends as designated driver. Bought lots of rounds of alcoholic drinks but I was on water for which I had to pay £1.80 a time for a small bottle! I bought 3 as the venue was unbearably hot.

Busiest local pub I've seen in a while! My wife & I called in for a drink prior to arriving for our meal at a nearby restaurant. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, clean & well looked after. Blackboards advertising reasonably price pub grub and we found the drinks to be reasonably priced too. Credit to the licensee & staff :)

Overall, it was a nice experience. The waiting time was a bit over 15 minutes, but considering the busy time of the year, it was expected. We all had pizza, which was really delicious and filling 😋 with options for all tastes. The staff was really welcoming and helpful and the place neat and tidy. I will definitely go back.
