Music absolutely blaring and bit of a weird smell

Food was nice but very expensive for pepsi and burger.

Clearly can't cope with catering to a large room full of people at the same time. Dishes came out by choice of meat, not table. Some people had already cleared their plate before my 'roast' arrived. I'd ordered lamb. I'm cool with medium rare, even rare, although not with lamb. This was so rare the fat hadn't had the chance to look at at a pan, let alone decide whether it wanted to be rendered down. It was incredibly tough to cut. A steak knife might have helped. Somewhere, someone decided that all roast meals, not just beef, required a Yorkshire pudding. They certainly got that memo. In a dimly lit room (completely appropriate to the private cabaret event I was attending), I had to move the giant Yorkshire pudding to find my under cooked lamb. Great venue, very disappointing food.

It’s a fine establishment, in the heart of Chiswick but, I have to say, the beer quality has deteriorated significantly at the same time the prices have increased (nothing new there I suppose) We use to have Weihenstephaner Weissbier on tap, interesting lagers and IPAs, and now we have…Amstel, Peroni & Asahi (Fullers) Tiny Rebel and Jubel are very sorry replacements… They need to do better…much better

This is an excellent pub in the heart of Chiswick - look out for their comedy shows and dance classes! Good food, good service, live music!

We came that pub in boxing day, they did not broadcast the football matches although they advertised it in the sign in front of the pub. Poor experience!

I called them to ask if they showed football Matches on boxing day. They suggested me to check website. I checked website it says they show the matches. We plan the day with friends and went there before the match time. By the way outside the pub they put a sign saying “enjoy boxing day football at The George”. We sat down and asked them to open the match. It took them 15 minutes to open the TV and they tried to find matched on national TV. I told them for last 5-10 years boxing day matches are on amazon prime. They said we dont have amazon prime (without even saying sorry) . We found another pub 30 minutes after kick off. Such a waste of time.

For lunch on December 25. A menu that is not only disappointing but bad. A tournedos rosi served with a shapeless pâté colored light pink like cat food in place of the foie gras. The crab starter came out of the can. The vegetarian dish sold as a vegetarian wellington was simple tasteless boiled vegetables accompanied by a very salty spinach pie. The dessert of the same kind, a kind of very very sweet cream with an indefinable taste! All this for 105 pounds per person. Never again. Never again!!

I gave it another go going incognito this past weekend. Same disrespectful and racist behaviour embraced by this location. I’m really sorry that you cannot rate zero or negative. Stay away from this place, even if you are British, you will still be ripped off considering the food quality vs what they charge for.

I’ve been a loyal customer for 27 years, but the pub’s policy of asking seated customers to leave for unexpected reservations is deeply frustrating. With no warning and weak reasons given, it ruins the experience and alienates regular patrons who simply want to relax and enjoy their evening. Short term Profit vs loyal customers you decide!

Such an amazing pub! Was served by the loveliest girls nancy and lottie at our private event would definitely recommend for future events will visit again.

El rubio alto que trabajaba en el bar era racista con nosotros. Mientras esperábamos en la fila para ordenar, él no nos prestó ninguna atención. Sirvió a cinco grupos de personas que vinieron tras nosotros en la fila. Cuando éramos los últimos que quedabamos, dejó su puesto y empezó a hablar con su amigo. After the remodel and price inflation, George has become a boring place to go. Used to be the heart of many nights out, now just plain boring. Worst thing that could’ve happened to a pub.

Went for an event. Food was really good and staff were friendly and helpful. First time going there and would go back again.

Been here a couple of times for the comedy shows. Had food before the show, good selection of usual pub food, good choice of beers - including London Pride. Friendly staff.

I went to George IV in Chiswick for the first time as part of a Christmas dinner. We were made to pay upfront which included the service fee (the cheek). We arrived at the booking time of 6:30pm and we had still not been served our food by 8:30pm after 2 hours! I had to leave so I went to the manager to get a refund. She told me that the food was late because they were 'busy'. I responded that if they were that busy, they should not have taken our booking. She insisted that she couldn't refund me from the till as the booking had been taken centrally and had me leave my name, number and email address. I never heard from them again. I even emailed the contact us page from their website and all I have received is silence. This would be considered theft and I will get my refund. My colleagues who waited until the food arrive at 9pm said it was NOT worth the wait. There are a hundred other restaurants and pubs in Chiswick, much better than this one and they won't keep you waiting for 2 hours. Better off going elsewhere.

Incluso envié un correo electrónico a la página de contacto desde su sitio web y todo lo que he recibido es silencio. Esto sería considerado robo y recibiré mi reembolso. Mis colegas que esperaron hasta que la comida llegara a las 9 pm dijeron que NO valía la pena esperar. Hay cientos de otros restaurantes y pubs en Chiswick, mucho mejor que este y no te harán esperar durante 2 horas. Mejor ir a otra parte.

We went to a comedy night at The George IV pub. I was told that the comedy shows are managed by a separate company but they have been collaborating with the pub for over 20 years. A few of us in the group apparently caused disturbance to some in the audience when whispering during the act. The acoustics of the room and natural voice tone of those involved contributed to the noise propelling. After being policed by staff and given warnings, we were eventually thrown out. This has never happened to us and we were shocked by the treatment considering we were out at the pub on a Saturday night. I later understood that the expectation is for the audience to be dead quiet just as in theatres and if this would have been set out unequivocally and to all and sundry there wouldn't have been any bad reviews now. However, since the message of sealed lips came through in an unreasonable, patronising and disproportionate way, to our group the disturbance felt more subtle than what was said, i.e. a racist attack. It is a shame because the issue would not have escalated if management would have had the sensitivity and courtesy to address the issue in a way that didn't feel targeted.

I attended a stand-up show they host and was very disappointed with the atmosphere. Anna, the manager (?), insisted that we remain completely quiet during the performance, which seemed to defeat the purpose of a live comedy event that thrives on audience interaction and energy. Her approach was unreasonably strict, and she came across as rude and entitled, behaving as though she owned the venue. Her attitude made the experience uncomfortable for everyone, as she overstepped her responsibilities in a way that detracted from the enjoyment of the event. It’s a shame, as this could have been a much more enjoyable evening with better management.

Everything was great except the toilet, which was unclean. The water pressure was so low that I couldn't wash my hand properly.

I was so excited about reopening and booked a table in advance. And it is the worst experience in George I’ve had for a year (I’m local and go here regularly) It was often that I had to look for a waiter to ask (as they forgot to come), but today not only I had to remind about myself all the time. 3 items from the menu I wanted were over, and I was waiting for 50 minutes for the cheeseburger. It finally came , but with a cold bun. When I said about it, they remade it by just putting it to the oven… obviously the bun was moist inside as the result. I’m so disappointed, I loved this place so much and was looking forward to come here after the refurbishment :( And I also knew this place as having the most delicious chips I’ve tried, but they are not the same any more 😭😭😭 Very very disappointing

Visité este local por un aniversario y por eso quería que fuera perfecto y apoyando a las empresas locales. . Gran mesa dentro de la barra principal, pero la comida era una decepción. £ 25 + para un asado de domingo en el lado caro. A las 230 PM no hay cordero disponible Tuve el dúo de carne de res/pollo pero sin el pudín gigante de Yorkshire muy poca carne pero un montón de verduras. Pedí rábano picante pero no había ninguno disponible. Personal muy agradable y servicial. Peroni agradable y los vinos por copa fina. Con todo bien, pero me dejó sintiéndome intentar en otro lugar la próxima vez.

He estado visitando Chiswick durante muchos años desde que me mudé a Londres desde Escocia y una cosa que Escocia no puede hacer es un Sunday Roast. El Gorge IV Chiswick es un gran lugar para visitar para en mi opinión uno de los mejores de la zona. Hoy ha sido un buen motivo para visitarlo ya que he estado intentando probar el Asado de Cordero, he estado probando desde que se añadió a los menús pero siempre solo entrar un poco tarde y perderse. Hoy no iba a ser uno de esos días que llegué temprano y pedí el Asado de Cordero cuando llegué. Estos eran algunos disponibles. Tengo que decir que valió la pena esperar y bien vale la pena llegar temprano para ordenar antes de que se vaya. Volveré muy pronto para tener de nuevo si llego un poco tarde hay una gran selección de asados de domingo para elegir y siempre estará feliz con el solomillo de ternera. Hoy no fue aún más especial como tengo que decir que tuve uno de los pudines más grandes de Yorkshire que he comido con el almuerzo. Bien vale la pena una visita no solo un domingo que tienen un nuevo menú de otoño que es genial también si no después de asado.

Great local venue for book lovers as well.

I'm not happy with what happened to my friend when she came to your pub. She was asked to remove her hat even though you could quite easily see her face. She is a young girl who has alopecia. She did not have her wig on. So removing her hat was very upsetting for her. She felt very uncomfortable and was made fun of by some people. She has only just come to terms with losing her hair. This has put her back. Surely you should have more compassion for people. Shame on you.

Fabulously iconic Chiswick pub, with a great atmosphere, yummy food, and an impressive selection of drinks! The large rear courtyard area is excellent, (with table tennis!), which is where the ‘Riverside Runners’ social run group, (who meet at the George IV at 18:30 every Monday), love to hang out after their conversational paced 5km! It’s a perfect pub for socialising & chatting! Highly recommend.

My friends sister has alopecia and was asked to take off her knitted head covering even though her face was fully on show. This lead to other patrons laughing at her after she took it off. What reason is there for this to be policy except discrimination!! Disgusting behaviour

Awful staff from the security to the bar staff. Security asked my friend to remove her head covering and the staff openly mocked her. Discriminative and bullying behaviour, I advise to avoid this place.

A friend of mine with alopecia was forced to remove her headscarf by a member of security who was nothing short rude and completely lacked understanding of her hidden condition. This situation lead to multiple people in the pub openly mocking my friend, to which the security did nothing in response. Completely unacceptable behaviour.

Security at this venue asked my friend (who has alopecia) to remove her head covering. Following this, some other patrons used this opportunity to make fun of her. Leaving this review simply to say that this discrimination and bullying was a direct result of the staff at this establishment.

would leave 0 stars if i could. the security team are discriminative and have no care for people with hidden medical issues. like seriously, it’s 2024. do better. a young girl should not be left to get bullied by other members of the public if your security actually gave her the time to speak and explain rather than just turning a blind eye and ignoring her

Place is disgusting to young women who are struggling with personal things and telling them to take off items when it has nothing to do with them very upsetting to hear. I hope you feel ashamed of yourself and the people your serving that make fun of said young ladies that are going through something very hard at the moment I hope they never come back to this place!.

I arrived at the wrong place at the wrong time but the staff were just wonderful. Very friendly and pointed me in the right direction. This is what real hospitality is like. Thank you.

It’s again a MUST Visit when in West London and Chiswick. The place is one of the best if not friendliest pubs in West London welcoming staff and great food. I popped in today for a few drinks and bit of food the venue didn’t let me down. Have been here many times over the last few months when I can aa live local and the food has got better and better. I did in the past give not the best reviews of the venue as they did have a chef that to be honest wasn’t the best even though I believe they had a great reputation maybe not for cooking. The food is some of the best. I have also been informed that they well be a new menu for autumn and winter I can’t wait till that cones if the menu at the moment has anything to go by. I can only ask that you give the George IV Chiswick a visit and experience it all from the atmosphere friendly staff and great food. I will be back for Sunday Lunch it’s great too.

Good music venue but no place for any standing area, too many tables and chairs in the back room. Absolutely crazy prices for alcohol £12 for a glass of blush rose wine, never been charged more than £9 anywhere else so therefore only 3 stars.

The Fish and chips served here are by far the best you will get for miles around. The choice of beers is delightful and ample. The atmosphere in the evenings is rocking especially over the weekend. In my opinion an all round great boozer for either a cheeky pint in the afternoon or a good night out with your partner and friends or wonderful pub dining with family.

No food was ordered and only bar service because it was a jazz music evening which is held at the rear of the premises. Excellent band and nice vibe.

Great place to drink and watch the football. It has a garden and a good night time band. Also a really good mixed crowd, not a sausage fiesta, if you know that I mean 😂

I ordered the roast beef which arrived hot but some of the veg was still at fridge temperature. I complained to the spectacled bar person and asked if I could have some hot vegetables and she almost rolled her eyes at me and then laconically walked over to a colleague and passed on my complaint with very little gutso. Ten minutes later when I had almost finished my meal another more attentive member of staff came and asked how everything was and I repeated my complaint as my replacement veg had still not appeared. Five minutes later I received some slightly warmer cauliflower cheese which had very little flavour and was more of a cauliflower cream than a cauliflower cheese. We won’t be rushing back due to the poor service and food quality. The portions are also quite meagre and over priced compared to the neighbouring pubs. This is a nice pub but is let down by one particular barmaid with a bad attitude.

One of the best pubs in West London. The manager has got comedy clubs going , very inclusive place encouraging everyone to visit , good atmosphere , I like to visit when in Chiswick, the manager used to run a Youngs pub near me , that place was good too so it’s not surprising that’s he’s made this into a great venue

Visited the George IV with my partner. Ordered a double Jack Daniels with a dash of mixer and my partner had a double pink Gin with a small bottle of Tonic water, also had a packet of crisp. The bill was over £27. I asked the barmen if this is correct and he said it was. He gave me the receipt and I couldn’t believe the prices for the drinks, especially the dash of Coke (they call 100ml of Coke a large dash) costing £2.20 and a small tonic for £3.10. I don’t understand how they can justify the high prices. Would love to visit again as the pub had a lively atmosphere but don’t think I’d go back in a hurry with the current prices!

Always loved this Pub. Have been a frequent customer for 7 years. Sadly, in our latest visit, we spotted mice 🐁🐁🐁 running between tables and hiding under the staircase. We let the staff know in person and also sent a 'Contact us' form which has not been replied to 3 weeks later. Edit: Thanks for replying. Gladly, Management has said they're taking care of this issue

Popped here for food at lunch time. Quiet, love the interior, busy but not too busy. There's a lot to look atout. Food and service were brilliant. Staff are brilliant. Could become a regular thing. This is some parking right outside. Not sure on costs as we walked there.

This used to be one of my favourite pubs in Chiswick. Recently it has been handed over to a new management, and I am sorry to say that the quality has been tanking. We have booked a table for ten people at dinner, and showed half an hour in advance to drink something. After moving to the dinner seating, we waited almost half an hour before the waiter showed up to take the order. The courses arrived almost one hour after, after repeatedly chasing the waiters for an update on our food. Half of the plates were cold, the remainders arrived an additional half an hour after the firsts. While we were waiting and subsequently eating, the glasses from other tables kept on stockpiling on the bar table, and no one collected them. The clients at the tables nearby also complained repeatedly with the staff. We weren’t even offered a discount. Extremely displeasing.

Went to a salsa night, great band, brilliant atmosphere, lots of fun. Beer here is pretty good too! Open Mike night had some high quality acts on. Will definitely return.

The service was great: no complaints there. The pub is beautiful too. I ordered roast pork because I wanted the cracking-experience. Two main issues with the meal; firstly is arrived barely warm and secondly the crackling was inedible. For £20 this really isn’t acceptable. I doubt I’ll be back here for food.

Had a good afternoon of drinks, but was disappointed that the kitchen shut at 8.15pm on a Sunday (?!). I asked whether a cheeseboard could be served but was told by the manager that they didn't have permission to cut slices of cheese and put crackers on a plate. Poor show given the competition in the Chiswick area.

Staff really not interested in serving guests. Some staff frequently deliver short measures and refuse to top up. I used to enjoy going here…. But there are better options in Chiswick
