Very quiet Wednesday night ruined for them by 13 drunk blokes. In fairness we did sort of behave and the landlady looked after us really well

Oh, what a hidden gem I found, The Globe Inn, with its treasures unbound, A place of warmth and history so profound, Where the beer flows, and the ciders abound! With 30 beers on tap, a true delight, And local ciders so crisp and bright, The atmosphere, so friendly and warm, A place to unwind, and forget life's storm. The clocks that adorn its walls so well, Ten in all, a sight to swell, And at 12 o'clock, they all chime in, A moment so unique, and full of din! The history of this inn, so rich and vast, With tales of smugglers and sailors amassed, A place of legends, and stories untold, Of daring feats, and fortunes so bold. Oh, what a fantastic experience, To visit the Globe Inn, so grand and immense, A place of warmth and history, so dear, And a true testament to the spirit of cheer!

We had a superb lunch at The Globe Inn, Lympstone yesterday and this far exceeded our already high expectations. We were looking for somewhere nice and a bit of googling showed us the Globe Inn so we stopped by. Whilst we were first in, we were in no rush so we sat and relaxed in the nice surroundings with a drink whilst our mussels, monkfish and ribeye steak were all prepared. We were not disappointed and I could not rate the food, service and experience more highly. It was so nice finding somewhere that isn't just offering the same old fare and there was enough fresh fish on the menu alongside other dishes that I foresee us returning multiple times in the near future. The Globe Inn is well worth a lunchtime visit and I hope you have as enjoyable a time as we did!

What a great place for a pint whilst walking the dog. On the day we attended a live band were playing at 21:00. The pub filled up and the evening was banging, the dog didn’t make a fuss and there were plenty of trains back to Exton, what a superb afternoon out.

Pleasant popular pub in the heart of pretty Lympstone Village. Polite staff/management and tasty menu. I opted for a small plate (see photo). Small beer garden across road from the venue which is right on the Exe Estuary - you can even walk on the sand if the tide is out and enjoy amazing sunny evenings (customers can enjoy a drink in a real glass outside, instead of one of those horrible plastic ones which is sadly the case with a lot of venues these days). Small two person tables and chairs directly outside pub too - ideal for a solo with a good book! Dog friendly pub too.

We came for the live band evening which was scheduled to be on at 8pm according to the flyer. We got here at 7.30pm for dinner. The place was buzzing with people (and dogs) with a fabulous and friendly atmosphere. We placed our order at 7.40pm and no food was in sight even when it was at 8.20pm! Sadly, no staff came and checked on us until we approached them. We were told that many people ordered food at the same time and ”unfortunately” we were at the end of that queue hence the long wait.Although the gentleman who came and spoke to us was very apologetic and said he was doing whatever he could, I couldn’t help but think to myself surely they wanted a crowd in hence they put a live band on and yet they were so unprepared with orders coming in, all at the same time or not. The gentleman seemed rather stressed and hassled by it all and that made us wonder how really prepared they were for the evening. It is never good to keep customers waiting. And it makes it worse not to take the initiative to approach customers who are being kept waiting. We were offered some snacks after we had complained about the long wait. And we then asked why the band wasn't still on (it's 8.30pm by then when the flyer said 8pm for the show), we were told the band was having their dinner! Were they as “unfortunate” as we were placing the order at the end of that long queue?? Our food finally came after an hour of waiting and the same gentleman came and offered us a round of drinks. We had two orders of steak which was good. The venison burger was average as it's overcooked and the salad that came with it was also pretty average. However, the herbivore burger was nice as I was told. We wrapped up the meal with the lumberjack cake (dates, coconut and apple) with ice cream which was lovely. It's tasty with a very good chewy texture. All in all, I thought it was a good evening as we had a good chat when the band was playing. The service could do with some improvement though. If it was an normal evening and the pub was overwhelmed by a sudden influx of customers, it’s understandable. However, being overwhelmed with a scheduled live band on and the band was late because of their dinner was a bit of a joke. I hope they can find a way to deal with it going forward as it is a great place with good atmosphere.

I was taken here for lunch for my birthday and was really looking forward to it having eaten at the Pig and Pallet before. We tried to book by email and l left a message on the answer phone but received no reply. I got through by phone in the end. On arrival there were reservation labels on the other reserved tables but not on the one which was pointed out to us which made me wonder if we were expected. We had to get our own menus and then get up and get our own drinks and service at the bar was slow despite the place being empty. The waitress was pleasant but it felt like there was no organisation. There was no unbattered fish on the menu but I was told I could have fish but when it arrived it was very dry and hard and clearly overlooked as the skin was charred. The other people’s food was ok so I didn’t want to complain or make a fuss but we told the waitress at the end that the fish was over cooked and she said she’d tell the kitchen. Really, it should never have been sent out. It is a nice place with good beer but just wasn’t worth the trip out or the expense.

Marcus and the Globe Inn team gave us a fantastic evening for my husband's 70th birthday. They let us use half the pub for our private party; decorated it with banners and balloons; allowed us to use their TV to show a birthday film, and organised music. They provided us with a great menu of delicious home cooked food, with good veggie options (but I heard that the calamari was amazing). And they put up with last minute changing numbers on the guest list. A great time was had by all. Thank you Globe Inn!

The Globe has a nice friendly atmosphere but the restaurant prices don’t reflect the pub quality of the food. £12.50 for ham,egg and chips is hard to justify. Homity pie is potato-based - why on earth would you serve it with chips? Nice place for a drink, but better value places locally for a meal.

I have been back to eat three times before writing this review because I wanted it to be good. I'm afraid it just isn't, the food is over priced and not very well cooked or presented. There was clearly something wrong with the peas on our last visit, everyone who had them both complained and left them - the staff were just not interested in our complaint. Stick to The Swan or The Redwing, both do much better food which is a crying shame as The Globe is the nicer pub inside.

On a quiet night in January this lovely pub still offered a great atmosphere with a cozy welcoming feel and lovely staff/management. We have been meaning to try since the new owners took over and were not disappointed, the menu and food were great, food simple buy locally sourced produce, the charcuterie was amazing as expected followed by a great tasty beef and Stilton pie! Our little girl had the chicken strips which were lovely pieces of chicken in a great batter, for a fussy 6 year old seeing her eat something is always a miracle!! Our server Charlotte was great and the manager Adam made us feel welcome, not rushed and made a real fuss of our daughter and puppy, overall a great night and we will be back again soon, would highly recommend!

The people running The Globe were good humoured and welcoming and delivered excellent service. We've used The Globe on and off for years and were very taken with the recent refurb. Best of all the menu made interesting reading with information about the local sourcing and welfare of animals which is so important to us. If we were going to eat meat, we'd have it from there. Even a recognition that it might cost a couple of pounds more, well worth it in our opinion. Very tasty food, nicely presented and not mass produced. My husband wanted well done sausages and actually got them for once! We wish the new management every success in the future.

Decided to switch it up and go out for Christmas Day dinner this year and we are all very glad we did. I had the French onion soup, rolled turkey dinner and homemade chocolate brownie and everything was cooked perfectly and so much flavour. My husband has been a chef for over 15 years and could not fault anything. Once we arrived we were shown to our table, and the staff were so friendly and looked really happy to be there which always makes the experience better. Our 2 children really enjoyed trying to find the elf that was hidden and received a sticker and chocolate which completely made their day! After our dinner we stayed for a couple drinks and ended up talking to the chef, so friendly and thanked him for our dinner, we have now booked again for a meal in the new year for 12 of us and booked again for Christmas next year! Definitely recommend!!
