I always enjoy visiting the railway, this time I went with my Auntie, the landlady was very accommodating as we changed our seat a few times as the sun was streaming through the windows. The food was beautiful, we had Garlic and Thyme Chicken Breast with Chorizo croquettes, tenderstem broccoli and Stock Pot Carrots, the staff really friendly, it was lovely to see so many dog owners on there too. I will keep returning.

We visited the area from Leicestershire and met some friends who recommended this place. We were not disappointed. We had a lovely welcome with fabulous hospitality and service. The home cooked food was delicious and great value. We visited on a Monday and received a free desert with our main meal. It’s been a good while since we visited the greyhound as we had issues with the food last time but thought we would give it a chance. We reserved a table so we could eat and watch football which was also a request from nearby tables. We ordered garlic chicken Kiev which was dry flat and had a lump of butter dumped on top. The fish was burnt and batter thick it was disappointing!! When the food was served the waitress asked if we needed anything as she walked away I pulled my plate towards me and burnt myself she said oh sorry forgot to say don’t touch the plates! It was 50 minutes prior to football the tv was on a different channel with no volume so we paid and went to town. The man behind the bar was welcoming and pleasant but food and server let the side down !!

I was looking forward to visiting this pub, however left slightly disappointed. The reason we attended was due to the large vegetarian menu, however upon arrival the veg menu was a lot smaller than suggested online. With only one item on the menu (which was very tasty!). My lasagna was reheated and the fish (of fish and chips) appeared to be from frozen. Lots of room for improvement! I'll give it another go, I hope this was an off day.

Amazing 🤩 We were received with a lovely warm welcome into this traditional village pub. There were 7 of us eating and every meal was 10/10. The staff were friendly and accommodating even for the fussy eater in the group 🙈 nothing was too much trouble It was very well priced and we even got a free dessert as it was a Monday, again all were fantastic. We could not fault this place at all. They even had the euros on ⚽️ The last time my parents had been in the pub was over 60 years ago when they were courting. My dad was so pleased to still see hand pulled beers such as Tetleys and other local brews. I also liked the attention to detail that the glass matched the drink you were having. My mum had a very happy 82nd birthday visiting here 🥳 Thank you Greyhound staff

I have visited the Greyhound this evening, the food was disgusting considering the price per meal! One lady was lovely but the other waitress very obrupt, meals came out incorrectly and sides missing, the new Landlady thought by knocking the sides off (which come free with steaks on a Saturday) was suffice. She also took the five meals which were in edable off the bill suffice! Other items on the other 7 meals were incorrect but she was not willing to put right as she would not her words "make a profit" whom also tried multiple time to put words in my mouth to not pay the full bill which was never said or insuated! I will not go again, multiple times since have gone prior to the new management. Clearly not wanting to have loyal and continued customers, hence why the food hall only had my table in all night.

This used to be a lovely friendly busy pub with good food. Now two weeks ago at 1 pm there was one car in the car park, no heating on on a cold wet January day. We were told there was no fish , no peas , no steak sandwich. I ordered chicken Kiev and chips, my husband ordered sausage and mash. That looked ok but we think the mash was instant Smash with lots of gravy. My chicken Kiev was as dry as old sticks, no lovely oozing garlic butter. . The chips were just chips. There was no alternative to the missing peas.. The place was freezing cold. My wine was ok. I has two glasses.. We will NOT be going again. What a shame. Lovely old pub, delightful village but with a disaster of an eating place. Someone could really get it back to what it used to be with a great chef, get the old staff back, light the fires, and we and so many others , would be back in a flash. Tong village needs The Greyhound.

Dissapointing. Phoned ahead to book a table for Sunday dinner. When we arrived they didn't have a table reserved, just happened to get one in the bar area. We were disappointed to have booked ahead yet still be told they had run out of beef and the option was turkey or gammon, also run out of all deserts but one. We live local and would of liked to have made this a weekly visit, however it wasn't worth it. £17 for what seemed to be left overs. Staff were pleasant and its a great decor and atmosphere if your looking for a traditional pub.

A lovely country pub attached to a cricket club. We loved the cosy atmosphere and rustic surroundings. A very friendly team ran it. It has very low beams and a lot of Toby jugs depicting differing characters. There are several pictures of the local area and various cricket teams. When the cricket team plays, you have to be careful where you park your car and signs are placed outside with warnings. We enjoyed afternoons drinking and eating on more than a few occasions when visiting the area. A nice experience.

Disappointed to say the least, chef just said "sorry". Update, said chef no longer there. Had another Sunday lunch and very happy with everything. Another update. Visited again 3 weeks ago. Completely out of lager (and other drinks !) not the first time this has happened either. Ordered Sunday lunch, was not up to usual standard, apparently we had been given the children's meal !! although until we spoke to the chef the price charged was for the adults meal. The young waitress apologized but not her fault . Left the pub about 8pm , hand full of people drinking and no one else eating not suprised . Popped in for lunch. Lots of outside seating which was lovely, proper tables and chairs rather than picnic benches. The food came quite quickly and was tasty but I can only give 4 stars as I had the hot beef sandwich which, according to the menu, came with a jug of gravy. It didn't, it just had a sparse amount of gravy in the sandwich so I found it quite dry. Because the pub was busy I didn't go in and ask for the gravy as I thought my sandwich and chips would have gone cold by the time I got it. Shame as the food was nice. Would I come here again, yes, I would, I'd just know to make sure I had all I'd ordered the moment the food was brought out to us.
