Went for a slimming world party the food was amazing and the staff were so attentive especially ocean she was fantastic nothing was too much trouble will definitely be returning.

We have used the Griffin for 3 years now and each year gets better and better.. we booked this year again for our Christmas do /party 🎄and it didn’t disappoint from start to finish. I spoke to a lovely young lady called Ocean who has communicated with me from the start of discussions till the end.. we have a range of numbers each year from 27-35 and this year we had 27 of us with a wide rage of dietary requirements from veggies vegans and allergies Ocean went above and beyond to make sure all was accommodated she gives 110% all the time. The atmosphere in the pub is amazing beautiful decorated Christmas music and party music played, all the staff are lovely and helpful, the food is excellent especially the cheesecake!! shout out to the chef (Billy I think his name was) we aren’t the easiest and he was awesome 🤩 We also had the honour to meet the new landlord/lady the lovely couple Brian and Donna who again made our night amazing thanks to Santa 🧑‍🎄 If you are looking for a night out head over to the Griffin ask for Ocean Brian or Donna xx Thank you all once again for everything see you next year!!

I was in a large group and there was some mix up with orders, but on the whole good. I had the festive carvery which was very nice

Lovely local pub with entertaining events. Good food and good pints Really friendly staff too

Food was poor, my son (his birthday) wanted a pizza, "we have no pizzas on today" was the answer we got. Even though they have a pizza bar in the place. Food was bland, felt microwaved, asked several times for some condiments, waited and waited, until our food was nearly gone, then they brought the condiments! Staff looked miserable, no warmness at all, only 3 tables in the entire restaurant ordering food but staff weren't attentive at all. Place has really let me down for a second time now, me and my partner went for a meal a while back and I was violently sick that evening, and pretty sure it was from the undercooked gamon, but it's hard to say. Food was expensive too, and not worth it. We usually eat in the bulls head in handforth and we will be going there in future.

Ordered food ,stated no fish as a serious allergy. Then received a platter of fish. Dangerous miss communication. The concerns were shrugged off as a misunderstanding.

Just had a lovely meal here. Good quality food. Nice, pleasant, and friendly staff. Definitely will be calling back when we come to Manchester again.

Lovely pub, my new local, my dog Beans loves it in here too (the main sign of approval).

Well this is not posh, but it serves reasonable food at a good price. Plenty of seating. Very polite staff.

Went here on a visit from Scotland for lunch and a few drinks but they refused to take my Scottish money by two members of staff. They said pay by card as we don't take Scottish money. Shocking in this day and age will never return. Went to the quarrybank in templerley and no problem whatsoever lovely staff lovely food

Had a great family event day shame it was raining but on the whole a very good day. The landlord and landlady were amazing nothing was too much for them, the staff are so friendly and helpful. Made to feel welcome .

What a fantastic experience, having read some bad reviews I wanted to find out for myself and I wonder if those people had been in the same place the staff were so friendly and the food was fantastic and served on warm plates which I prefer the people complaining about the car park must be blind as signage was very clear and we were asked on arrival if we had driven and directed to register the car Overall could not fault anything and have now put this on my list of places to return to

From the moment we walked into the Griffin of Heald Green wow it looked amazing everywhere looked spotless even smelt fresh no stail smells when we order food it was amazing delicious well done for turning it around keep the great work up Joyce, Barbara, and family

I parked in the pub car park and had a very average dinner here. We ate something roughly approximating to pizza. Several weeks later I received a £100 parking fine for using the pub car park.

The most shocking and rude, obnoxious, threatening behaviour from the new Landlord tonight. We arrived at 8.35pm and ordered drinks, asked was they still serving pizza and was told “yes” we ordered at 8.45pm and was told it piled be 15 minutes wait. No problem we said and thanked the staff for sorting out our food, we were very grateful. At 9.25pm a :ember I’d staff came over to inform us that they didn’t have any flat mushrooms left, did we want some other mushrooms on our pizza, we said no thanks, we would just like to get a refu; as it has been passed 40 minutes now since we ordered. My husband went over to the bar to get a refund on his card, the landlord came over, became extremely rude to my husband, got in his face and was showing aggressive body language to my husband, I immediately got up and went over to ask why he was behaving aggressively towards my husband…wow oh wow, he became aggressive and began shouting at us both. The landlord took himself outside . Once he had returned to the pub we asked the landlady for an explanation for his aggressive behaviour towards us, she was just as rude!!!!, DEFINATELY DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COUPLE OF NEW LANDLORDS!!!!! We only called in for a quick pint and a pizza and came away feeling completely shocked at how locals/returning customers have been treated at our local pub.

Would like to say thank you for a lovely meal and the service was lovely. I would also like to say that the landlady was very professional when having to deal with a rude customer at the bar while we were eating our lunch. The staff and management were lovely would recommend going there to our friends and family.

Food is not as good as it used to be, not sure if the chef has changed. Items wanted by party members were not available. Plenty of staff behind the bar, friendly but appeared distracted.

Went for my mums 70th birthday. 13 of us. I phoned the order through to Zoe who was absolutely lovely and so helpful. The food was brilliant as usual. The staff are just the best. They literally couldn’t do enough for us. Constantly checking on us. Nothing was too much trouble Really good value for money. Thank you everyone there for making it such a special evening x

Felt VERY uncomfortable ordering at the bar as the staff started whispering, sniggering and laughing under their breath! Felt that uncomfortable only had the 1 drink with a 3 course meal! Pity! A real shame as our server was a delight, attentive, quick and very well mannered. Bar staff should take a leaf out of his book! Will be using a different chain in the future! Shame as the food and prices were pretty decent and we would have returned if not made to feel this way! It was like a ghost town when we showed up! But I think I see why 🙃

This food was below my expectations. Obviously the curry sauce came from a jar because I have tasted a similar taste from a jar. Another person who wasn’t even serving me said just to let you know last order for food is at 8.30 The time was around 8.15 . Two curry’s two drinks £54.00 expensive bland food food .

Barman does not listen to your actual order, fish was fried in oil that was too cold therefore very greasy

Lunch with my friend. Staff recommended the lasagne, and I have to say it was up there in my top 3. It was gorgeous 😍. I didn't finish it all, but believe me, I tried! It came with salad, which was very fresh and lovely. Pub was rather quiet, but the staff were fantastic, very friendly, chatty, and cheerful.

It has only Strongbow on tap and the rest were brewery beers that they couldn't tell us what each one is similar to I can wholeheartedly say I will not be coming back

Amazing people and amazing food ! Visiting from canada and went in for my first English pub experience and they did not disappoint! Amazing food and very welcoming staff can't wait to go back to watch a football match !

Really nice place. Some great Holt beers on draught and a specialised pizza oven too! Next time we're in Heald Green we'll be back.

Went for a meal with my niece and my mum who has dementia, from the minute we walked in we were treated with such kindness, the bar staff were so lovely, customer service was 2nd to none, well done guys, food well absolutely 💯 perfect, will definitely be back, thanks so much for looking after us so well 😀 👍

Very pleasant eating place. Food very nice. Downside.. i wanted a pint of blackcurrant with water but they was only able to serve half a pint...disappointing along with the wait for the main course. So if I want a pint of water with my food, I can't have it? Manager not interested. I don't think it's an unreasonable request.

Your mad if you visit this pub you get fined for parking on the car park. It's truly not worth it. Never again will I darken its door. Joseph Holts need to change a few thing here.

We came here for Mothers Day, there were 11 of us in the party, It was very busy but the service was brilliant as was the food. Definitely go again.

Lovely pub and nice comfortable seating area, the food was nice, the only criticism was, there are alot of dogs coming in, and the bar staff are stroking and petting the dogs, and then serving drinks & food without washing their hands, myself and my Sister witnessed this 3 times in the 40 minutes we were there. I also asked what the fish was, as it wasn't stated in the menu, apparently after a few discussions with other staff who didn't know, it's HAKE, NOT COD OR HADDOCK, at the price fish chips are on menu, you shouldn't cheat the customers out of not giving them either COD OR HADDOCK. Had breakfast it was OK but if you get toast it doesn't come with butter you have to pay for it?? I would not have breakfast here again

Lovely food. Good atmosphere. Burger and chips tasted really lovely. Chocolate fudge cake and custard was a good portion of food. Good time.

I asked for a Flat base crispy Garlic Cheese Pizza I got a Cold thick soggy one I couldn't eat 👎👎 I asked for a Liqour Coffee and is it Double cream or spray cream ( aside wouldn't order one with spray crea) the Lad said double cream so I ordered 2 What we got wasn't a Liqour coffee it was a coffee with spirit in a cup and cold 👎👎👎👎 Wouldn't eat hear again ,, Family ordered Sunday roast Roast potatoes terrible Very disappointed

Visited on 27 November 2023 for my sister's birthday. Pub was not busy, one other party in pub. Staff never mentioned that we needed to book car in, nor did I see signs in the pub. Received on 27 December parking ticket for £60. I will never visit this pub again.

Used to visit this place regularly the food was always 1st class. Being back in the area it was the first place we thought but oh how the times change. The food was nothing special and whilst one of the party ate another was still waiting for theirs. Certainly shall not rush back. Oh and to it all I got a £100 fine for. It registering my car my bad as I was dealing with an unsteady 87 year old who refused her wheelchair, my appeal was rejected so ended up paying a reduced £60 fine so an hour expensive day for something so run of the mill.

Been here a few times and the food has always been good. I had braised steak with mash and green beans. My partner had fish and chips which is always very nice.my daughter had the fresh pizza and chips followed by ice cream. We was served by liam who I've been served by before, he always goes above and beyond and is very friendly. He is a credit to the pub.

We visited the Griffin for lunch myself my sister and my Nan age 91 yrs old . My Nan absolutely loved the decor the Lights the open fire it was all perfect . The food was delicious the staff were so nice and attentive. We would 💯 visit again and would definitely recommend to friends and family .

The Griffin used to be a decent little pub-restaurant. These days, it's one to avoid. I visited last night for the last time. Four teenage staff chatting away behind the bar, oblivious of me waiting to order our food. I counted almost two minutes before I was acknowledged. They took my order which had a few customisations. They asked me if I'd like any drinks. Halfway through making the drinks, they asked me to remind them what I'd ordered, and they still got it wrong. Keep in mind that I'd only ordered two drinks. They were all chatting throughout and not really paying any attention to customers. When the food came, which was pretty quick to be fair, of course it was wrong. Couldn't be bothered to complain anymore. The food was, at best, average. Won't be returning anytime soon.
