The meal was ok for the price, not a great deal of atmosphere but friendly staff.

We have been coming here for years. The food is absolutely amazing. Staff are attentive and really look after you. Inside the restaurant has a great atmosphere, superb decor. Overall it’s one of the best restaurants in Warrington & Cheshire.

I really enjoyed the mash and shank, The chicken liver pâté—oh, so swank! The bread was fine, though I must say, With seeds or sourdough, it’d brighten my day. Thank you for the service, it was divine, A meal like this? Truly, a fine time!

Great evening meal & service (especially Bianca). Our food was cooked so well and presented in an excellent manner. Some Xmas parties made the restaurant rather noisy but a good time had by all.

Had hanging mixed kebab ! Pork was tough , I've had much nicer pub food. Overpriced for a couple of pieces of chicken & piece of steak with fries.

A great restaurant serving a varied selection of tasty dishes. A clean, well presented establishment, great ambience, excellent customer service, and good food at reasonable prices. We did book in advance ( for a Saturday night) . When we tried to book online it showed no availability, so phoned up and managed to secure a table. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Great food, polite and attentive staff. We dined on a Sunday evening, whilst quieter there was no degredation of service, really impressed. The cheese board is amazing!

Mid resteraunt frankly overall. I'm on the slightly taller side and the tables and chairs were too small, so consider this when you're being seated if you're a larger man. We were constantly interrupted while eating and talking by 4 different waiting staff being asked how our meals were. The food was faultless, steak was prepared perfectly and I enjoyed every bite, the peppercorn sauce tasted like it was freshly prepared! The bill featured an automatic service charge and I frankly feel this needs to stop in the UK, I feel like it's distasteful and disingenuous because a tip is a kindness and not an expectation in this country.

Food was average, some steaks that were served weren't hot. Staff efficient and friendly. Very noisy so hsrd to have conversations but that's the nature of the place. Probably would not return for us.

Another cracking meal Having had a really enjoyable visit with my parents last year we returned on a Sunday evening. Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and received excellent service. I had a burger again which was cooked nicely and had great flavours. The bun was a bit dry though. I had it with truffle parmesan fries and they were great. My Mum had mixed grill hanging kebab. All really good quality meats. She swapped fries for a portion of garlic broccoli. My Dad opted for the roast again and that was also fantastic. Clean plates all round. Previous visit: Absolutely banging prime cheeseburger! One of the best tasting beef patties I've ever had. Thick and juicy with superb flavour. You won't find a better one in Warrington. Really high quality meat. The bun was nice and the sauce was tasty too but didn't need quite so much of it. I like a messy burger but it was slipping out of my hands. The triple cooked chips were fluffy and crispy and just about the right size portion considering I had the rib starter on the side too! They were delicious as well, nicely seasoned and the right amount of sauce on them. I was disappointed that the pulled pork burger addition wasn't available but I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The service was great too, really pleasant staff. My Dad enjoyed the roast and my Mum really liked the teriyaki fish kebab. Closer to a fine dining place but not overpriced for the quality of the food and service.

This is a great restaurant. The only disappointing thing is the chair seating. It’s just not comfortable compared to other places where you pay a premium for food and service.

Friendly service but the food wasn’t nice at all . I had the lobster ravioli and couldn’t eat most of it. The dish looked very unappetising and didn’t taste good at all . Very sloppy and pasta was tough . No one bothered to check if our food was ok. Was with 3 others who didnt enjoy their meals either . This used to be a lovely place to eat . Atmosphere felt different too maybe it has changed hands ?

Called in today for lunch after searching on Google as not from the area. The atmosphere and vibe is brilliant. All the staff were super attentive! Our waitress in particular was delightful, helpful and friendly. Very chatty and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious! We only ate from the lunch menu, but was that good we are going to make a 40minute journey to visit again for a Saturday evening and also a Sunday to try the Sunday lunch! We were so impressed with every aspect. What a find to stumble upon! Wagyu croquettes were superb! The price was a shock in a good way! For 4 cocktails, 2 starters and 2 mains it was £61. We couldn’t believe this considering the high standard and have paid much more in the past for extremely poor standards elsewhere in comparison! Thank you, we will be back!

Came here on Saturday evening. The food was delicious! I will definitely be back! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. I had a very good Margarita cocktail too 😀 The Sirloin Steak was amazing and the chips were amazing too as well as the side of mash! I couldn't fault any of it! I will definitely be going back ❤️

Accommodated our large family party, very friendly staff. Food was excellent. A bit expensive but great for a special occasion.

Great staff. Had sides as a picky non meat or dairy eater, but rest of our large group enjoyed steaks.

How this restaurant gets away charging the prices it does for the appalling quality of food it provides is beyond belief. I had the teriyaki fish kebab, which cost just under £19. When it arrived at the table, the waitress made a big deal of pouring the garlic butter over the single skewer kebab and chips. When I removed the items from the skewer I was appalled to find o there was only 3 or 4 pieces of dry tasteless fish and a few vegetables on it. At least the chips were nice. Last time we'll visit this place, terrible value for money.

Food excellent as usual, really hot which I like. Staff and service great. Always a good atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Called in after watching John bishop at the parr hall I can honestly say we had an amazing time here fantastic customer service Anna was amazing so friendly and helpful a real asset to the business food was fantastic thank you chef I’m just sorry I don’t live nearer this would definitely be my go to place thank you everyone who works here 👍👍👏xx

Friendly, helpful staff and meals were ok. When we said one of the party had a garlic allergy, we were told everything in the Sunday lunch contained garlic! Noe of the three of us that had the sunday lunch could taste any garlic in the vegetables. Changed to a fish kebab and when asked for it to come without prawns, were told they come with prawns already on the skewer! Frozen? This dish had no taste at all and very disappointing. Sunday lunch was ok but belly pork could have doone with a little more cooking to give a crackling rather than fat. Beef very good. Have had better. Liked the decor and the people, who were freindly and did their best, but based on the food, will not be returning.

Went here today for our first time for lunch with our daughter, who works in the square & has been here a number of times , firstly its quite an impressive building, especially inside, the service and the food is excellent , would highly recommend this restaurant, we will have to come back for an evening meal

Completely underwhelming!! Seated at 7.45 no offer of drinks just menus. Getting to 8pm so decided to go the bar ourselves and order a drink. Menu pretty rubbish so went with Sunday dinner. Has to be one of the worst I've eaten, seen some pubs do better. Beef fatty, everything else luke warm at best. Pudding menu basically ice creams jazzed up. Wouldn't return!

Came for en evening meal however ended up ordering the Sunday 4 meat roast for 2. The food arrived and looked lovely however unfortunately it was very cold. The Gravy was barely warm which was a tell tale sign this food had been left to go cold whilst it was finished. The staff were really helpful and apologetic offering bread whilst we waited however it's still extremely poor to not be able to serve up a warm Sunday roast on a Sunday.

Patronising and rude waiter repeatedly making the same uncomfortable jokes even after the hint was given.

Always a fantastic time for any of the multiple times I've visited here. The food is beautifully made and the staff are brilliant and friendly. The new additions to the menu are lovely too 👍🏻 making it harder to choose what I want to have next time I'm there!

Just been here for a meal with my husband and the food was absolutely fantastic, as was the atmosphere and the service. Music was great too, especially if you like 70's and 80's music. We even got a free bottle of wine in the January offer and the early bird offer just £19.99. Will definitely be returning, would recommend this to anyone, though the tables were just a little too close together for comfort, otherwise perfect.

I was travelling for work in the North West. I had spent a lot of time researching the best hotel and restaurant combination, as I could have stayed anywhere on the M6 corridor. I went for Grill in the Square as it had an excellent menu and great reviews. I went to dine alone. I had a friendly welcome and got shown to the bar. I decided what to order and then waited for the barman to serve me. He was talking to the couple next to me for ages, so I didn't get served. Got shown the table, sat there for 10 mins without an offer of a drink or even water. Eventually, someone came over to ask if I was ready to order food, so I said I would like to order water and a drink first. When I placed my food order, I was advised that they didn't have my first choice of dish. I was OK with this, so I asked for a couple of minutes. Then I was left for another 10 minutes while they all brought out food for another party, so for the first time in my life, I left a restaurant because of service. I have worked in the food and drinks business for 17 years and have eaten out extensively. I have also eaten out solo many hundreds of times. Just because you are busy and I am solo, it doesn't mean that the basics of offering water should be missed. I have had such bad service as a solo customer. So I made my apologies and left, without drinking anything.

Called in for lunch ordered a fish finger and steak sandwich, i was asked any allergies i clearly stated Dairy and said again no butter on the fish finger, my food came and it was covered in butter, the waitress was shocked and said she told them, maybe kitchen staff need to go on training. I was given a refund sadly wont go back. PLEASE TAKE ALL ALLERGIES SERIOUS

Spent an evening on a work related trip. I was so glad I decided to try it. I had the set menu which was two courses and great value. The food was cooked perfectly. The service was personal and friendly. I recommend.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary afternoon tea on 7 February 2024 and found everything to be superb.

Had a booking for a weekday evening, there was a kids birthday party but noone else. The atmosphere was great, service was professional and fast, and we got a bottle of the house's wine for free. Everything was nice, but the food. I had a babyrib which was made well, but the mac and cheese served with it was cold and tasted weird and maybe a bit old. The coleslaw was almost like cut cabbage in water. I might try this place again on a busier weekend to see if this was just an unlucky day for them as I've read so many great reviews.

We were recommended to try The Grill on the Square by a colleague who lives in Warrington, and we are so glad we did! Situated in a cosy and beautiful square, almost hidden from the city centre hustle and bustle, the grill on the square looks fantastic both inside and out. We were warmly greeted and offered some drinks whilst we perused the menus in the bar area. The server brought our drinks over and then took our food order. In no time at all we were shown to our table and to my surprise our starters were laid out waiting for us which was a lovely touch. We had ordered from the set menu, and both the starters, mains, and sides were absolutely delectable! Absolutely fantastic quality taste and presentation. The refreshingly attentive staff brought our meals out and asked if we wanted anything else during our meal and also brought over a complementary bottle of house wine, which was a fantastic surprise. I cannot fault the grill on the square and thoroughly recommend it. The waigu croquettes are phenomenal.

Very nice, service was great, fish pie was a bit more mash than the husband would have liked otherwise we loved it, I liked that we were told about the optional service charge too and it wasn't hidden, we will be back.

Not crazy about the red lighting. I had a rib eye with garlic parsley butter and it was pretty tasty.

Brilliant evening meal, high standards, great food and the staff very attentive. I would definitely recommend. Oh and the onion rings and warm scotch egg were awsome !

The food was the worst part of the experience, seafood was undercooked and the langustine oozed black stuff so was inedible. The hanging kebab was lacking in meat and seasoning. I was still hungry afterwards. The presentation on both plates was also very simple, no garnishes or side salads. The dessert was excellent though.

Gorgeous, just perfect, I had the Seafood Royal and the flavours were exceptionally good and my husband said the steak was really good too. The service was fabulous and will definitely be back, thank you xx

Wow ! I have to say that was truly delicious. I love cooking Sunday Lunch , but just fancied a break from cooking. That was so enjoyable, and the desert was beautiful. Roast chicken dinner, and the strawberry vanilla slice Lovely service too .

The food is excellent but not pretentious and the standards don’t fluctuate at all ( Iv been going for years) They also make an excellent old fashioned if you’re partial to such things. The place has never disappointed me which is rare considering as i can be a grump at the best of time and Im used to good food.
