The Gryphon In Enfield in Enfield

Usually got to Ridgeway which is also an Ember Inn. However this week we tried the Gryphon as we had a 50% off main meals voucher. I had the large mixed grill which was cooked to perfection. Service at the bar was quick and friendly. Great atmosphere in the pub.

The pub was within a 10-minute walk of the family location that I was staying in at Enfield. It is also a 3 minute walk from Grange Park National Rail train station. There is plenty of free parking for vehicles in front of the pub. There is also a wheelchair accessible ramp at the entrance. The pub is brightly lit, clean and very popular with the locals. The staff are efficient and friendly. There is a game machine nearest the door. There is a Kids Menu, as well as the regular one. The main menu includes the usual Sunday Beef and Chicken Roasts. There are also a variety of desserts available. Finally, there are plenty of liquor and soda options.

Great community pub. Beers are always good and the staff are all really friendly and nice. Nice garden for the summer too.

Very noisy due to large number of middle-aged men shouting over each other. Fortunately was able to move to a table further from the bar.

Staff are amazing. Food is terrible but the atmosphere is great and as I say the staff are really nice.

We have been coming here for a while now. The food we find is above pub standard. Staff are always friendly when they see us. Prices are very good with lots of offers. Several casks beers and good wine selection.

For the second year running we went to the Gryphon today to have a family Christmas celebration brunch. The service was exceptional and the food was really lovely. Would definitely recommend. Very good value for money.

Went for the breakfast with Santa, fun for the kids, decent food, lovely staff (especially as they had to serve lots of people food and drinks and do a bunch of Christmas extras)

We had a fantastic night. Food was great. The entertainment was brilliant. And sam our cocktail maker was amazing that girl deserves a raise. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend this this place.

Great pub with lovely food, beer and service

We had the pleasure of spending the day at the Gryphon today as my daughter had a stall at their Xmas charity event. Well what a day. Real reindeers, lovely set up and mix of stalls. The pub was fully booked, but they managed to fit us in with a last minute table. The food was lovely, being a Sunday we went for a traditional Sunday roast, I had rib of beef, it was wonderful, fell off the bone, good potatoes and a decent amount of veg. My husband had the mushroom, spinach wellington and very much enjoyed his too. The pub was as I said very busy, it was partly due to the charity event, but also due to returning customers, but although it was busy there was a great sense of community, lots of laughing, chat and general joyfulness. The staff were polite and smiling through the constant stream of customers. It was like being in a film, where the pub is full of happy customers enjoying their time together and making memories. I then look out the window from my seat, through the slightly steamed up window to see the reindeer. Like a film ❤️. Honestly, fantastic staff, fabulous food, great location with free parking 😜.

Our waitress Hannah was really nice, her hospitality was second to none. Hannah was really patient with our children and made them feel special. The slow cooked rib of beef was sublime too.

The Gryphon is a gem of a pub that delivers on food, price, and atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for a casual meal or just a cosy spot to unwind with friends, it’s well worth a visit. I’ll definitely be returning to sample more of the menu!

The Barmaid Rebecca was very friendly on my arrival. The waitress Hannah was very friendly and efficient. She checked up on how we were doing and gave advice on the menu.

We only went for Sunday lunch. Initially disappointed as one of the two advertised roasts was unavailable. Fortunately they had an alternative in the form of turkey which was OK. The beef ribs were a disappointment - two large bones with a very small amount of meat attached. Roast spuds were OK (probably frozen) and the veg was nice, as was the small boat of gravy. We ordered a side of stuffing wrapped in bacon. Sorry to say it was terrible! The bacon was barely cooked - white, wet and flabby, it needed another ten minutes in a hot oven or under the grill. The stuffing was hideously salty and had an unpleasant smooth pasty texture. On the plus side, the pub was relatively quiet, with a lovely warm open fire. The staff were great - polite, friendly and happy to help. Would we go back? Yes, just not necessarily for a roast lunch.

Had a lovely meal here this week. It was a good size meal of sausage and mash with gravy. It was a Monday and after 2pm. The pub was not overly busy and there was plenty of seating to sit and eat, the staff were helpful and pleasant. A large pub with a garden.

We had a family farewell meal here on Monday evening for 15 people. Hannah served us and she was polite friendly and very helpful. She was wonderful, really made our experience special.

Ubicación - Es muy fácil llegar a este lugar. Había tanto aparcamiento disponible dentro del aparcamiento del restaurante y también fuera en la calle. Nadie tuvo ningún problema con el aparcamiento. Lugar - Teníamos mucho espacio dentro del lugar para nuestros huéspedes. Teníamos aproximadamente 22 invitados. Prácticamente teníamos la mitad del restaurante. Fue brillante. Teníamos las puertas del jardín abiertas también. Teníamos un montón de mesas y sillas. Teníamos un montón de sillas altas disponibles también para los niños. Comida. El chef, Bernie, preparó una brillante selección de comida para nuestros huéspedes. Todos lo disfrutaron. La comida era genial! Las alitas de pollo desaparecieron en cuestión de minutos, eran tan populares y los mini pasteles eran tan sabrosos. Había una gran selección de comida disponible para todos. Había dedos de pescado, pasteles, alitas de pollo, bocados de pollo, nachos y mucho más. Bernie merece un diez de diez por eso, literalmente a todos les encantó la comida! Teníamos una cuenta para las bebidas y quien pidiera una bebida la tenía en cuestión de segundos. Sin esperas y sin retrasos, eran de precios muy razonables también. Servicio - El personal era fantástico. Siempre venían a nuestra zona y preguntaban si necesitábamos algo. Fueron muy atentos y muy amables! La calificación general fue de diez sobre diez para todo. ¡Gracias a todos los que hicieron que el segundo cumpleaños de nuestra hija fuera genial para recordar!

Lovely to have a decent place locally but roast dinner could be made better with homemade roast potatoes and fresh vegetables. Frozen veg spoilt the otherwise great meat. Only posting as hoping it might change policy on frozen veg.

Waitress was lovely,however three times I said can I have a salad without bacon,over comes a salad covered in bacon. No dressing Asked for basamic vinegar.dont have it. Awful food for both of us. Wouldn’t ever eat here again as tried it three times now and all terrible. Lovely pub for a beer tho.

Good pub for a quiet pint - reasonable selection - very close to Grange Park train station - not eaten here so can’t comment - very friendly regular staff.

Sharon was absolutely amazing. I came with my gather who is disabled in a wheelchair and my 2 year old and she was such a star. Everytime I needed something she was so helpful and never tutted or made me feel unwanted. She was absolutely brilliant we need more friendly staff like her in restaurants. I will definitely be coming more often thank you so much Sharon.

First time I've been to the pub in a long time and thoroughly enjoyed the the visit. Staff were very helpful and service was quick. Only drinks this time, but took a look at the menu whilst there and will certainly go back for food at some point.

Debo decir que la comida aquí es absolutamente brillante. Hoy he probado la parrilla mixta y he mejorado para un filete más grande. Pedí un filete cocido raro y salió exactamente como lo quería. De hecho, me impresionó mucho el tamaño de la parrilla mixta, tanta comida y todo estaba fresco. Fue tan sabroso. Mi esposa tenía la costilla de res y eso se veía increíble. Dijo que se cayó del hueso. Probé algunos también y definitivamente fue un plato encantador. El goteo de carne era tan sabroso. Nuestra hija tenía la comida de los niños y ella realmente disfrutó de eso también. Fue agradable y tranquilo hoy, un montón de asientos disponibles y un ambiente muy tranquilo. Parece que este será nuestro lugar para esos encantadores almuerzos de la tarde. Nuestra camarera era Anna y ella sabía todo sobre el menú que había que saber. La comida que Anna recomendó fue lo que elegimos y fue una recomendación brillante. 10 de 10 por la comida y 10 de 10 por el servicio de Anna. Muy recomendable.

Currently sat here trying to eat a terrible sticky toffee pudding which is dry and tastes stale. Nothing sticky about it. Vanilla icecream served in a very hot glass so it was slop. Veggie lasagna was ok but very small portion. More like a starter. Burger was also a small portion and the presentation awful. Children’s meal, a few beans, 3 little nuggets and a side salad consisting of 1 slice of onion, a small slice of tomato and 4 small bits of lettuce. This is such a shame as we come here often (since the last 20 years) and it’s really put us off returning. We were here 2 months ago and it was lovely. We all left still hungry and not at all impressed. I’m going home to have a sandwich.

Love this place. Was there again last night. Hannah served us and couldn't have been more attentive. It was easy to book. Table ready for us. Everyone enjoyed their food.

I’ve been coming here regularly for far more years than I can begin to remember. Everyone is so friendly and service always exemplary. Delightful, varied menu and sensibly priced. Perfect atmosphere and plenty of parking. Very lucky to have The Gryphon nearby!

The staff were wonderful in this place, everyone is lovely and friendly. Live music was nice and not too overwhelming. Food was tasty too.

First time went to try the brunch menu.. Lovely hostess who greeted us made us feel really welcoming huge credit to her .. Food was fab had the full English was lovely definitely going back again !

We had a very enjoyable lunch at the Gryphon today. The food was delicious and plentiful and the service excellent. The tables are nicely spaced and there is no loud music which is very welcome. Parking was easy in the spacious car park.

My last two visits to the Gryphon in April/May '24 have been surprisingly good experiences. The food and service has improved dramatically from what it was only months before. I believe the menu has been changed to good effect and the staff are just brilliant. I would recommend the Gryphon for both drinks and food.

Popped in for a quick coffee a year or two after my last visit. Staff were quite matter of fact. Latte was very strong. Had the decor, feel and atmosphere of an upmarket chain pub not a local. Having said that there were a few groups of people in the the area that seemed local and knew each other so it has regulars. I haven't eaten there for a while so I gave the food rating the benefit of the doubt based on previous (Harvester) experience.

*EDIT* So the Gryphon has changed a lot over the years. Latest iteration is by far the best yet. Well managed (David) and brilliant staff (Clara, Sharon etc al). New menu actually ok! Its a harvester so you know what to expect. Local, staff are actually pretty good. *update* Now an Ember inns. Let's see how it goes. I notice the response to my last review took 7 years by the way.....

We visited the Gryphon for lunch and ordered sirloin steak and mixed grill. Both dishes were fresh, well cooked and plentiful. The service was excellent. Food ordered arrived quickly and staff were very pleasant.

Great: Staff were all lovely. Dogs allowed. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Good prices. Improve on: Sunday set menu is not explained properly so we had no idea how much our courses cost until ordered. There are no terms and conditions explaining that starters/desserts are £2.50 extra on the physical table menu. The food was a bit average however it is cheaper than a lot of pubs so there are some allowances. (The manager sorted things out for us with the pricing confusion so this was much appreciated). I would certainly return for drinks but not sure about food.

Fantastic, friendly, welcoming staff. Food was excellent great value for money will definitely be going back. Soooo we have been back many times since my last review and today the staff went above and beyond we had 16 people double booked and still they took care of us like nothing had happened no one knew a thing and our day went without a hitch best pub in town bar none

I was greeted on my arrival. Other staff engaged and were friendly walking by. I was assisted with finding electrical points for my laptop. Staff were swift in coming to my assistance. The place was clean and I will return soon.

Has all the usual pub grub and have visited quite a lot. It is also dog friendly. However, we won't be returning due to the horrible experience we had. Firstly they got our order wrong and questioned us in an accusatory manner about what we had ordered when we pointed this out. I also found 3 hairs in my meal so hygeine standards have slipped. Usually we enjoyed coming here for a meal but the hair in the food was the last straw

My mum and I have been coming to this pub for 4 years and every-time we receive the best service! Emma the manager always greets us warmly, Hannah always has a smile on her face and asks how we are, Clara is super attentive and the rest of the team are fab (apologies for not remembering all their names!) The food is everything you’d hope for from a typical English pub and to top it off it’s extremely reasonable! We always feel welcome and at home and are proud to call it our local pub so THANK YOU to The Gryphon we couldn’t recommend you more!

Had a “best of both” treat at the Gryphon. Mini-choc brownie with ice cream and chocolate sauce, with a soya cappuccino. Delicious! I really enjoyed it. Good value too. Staff welcoming and helpful.
