The Gunpowder Cafe & Bar at Melfort Village in Argyll & Bute

This is the first place I head to every time I get to Rothesay. The best coffee on the island - no competition. Plus an incredible salted hot chocolate (I buy bags of the stuff to take back to London), plus amazing pastries and excellent soup for lunch. And Mhairi and her team are always good for a natter and to bring you up to speed on the island gossip and recent celebrity sightings. I also rarely leave without a new pair of earrings thanks to the Bonnie Bling range they stock.

Delicious food, the best I've ever had ♥️

Came across this Cafe after being turned away from another as it was too busy. How glad was I?! The homemade cakes are unbelievable and the coffee was perfect. I cannot fault the place even with the COVID-19 procedures in place the service was quick and friendly.

Had a very good late breakfast. Highlight though was the very efficient, cheery, friendly young lady serving. Totally brightened up my day.

Had a lovely night stay with dinner - Breakfast was also great! Scenery and beach area was beautiful. Staff very friendly and attentive xx Clean and Welcoming x
