I can't recommend the Hare and Hog enough, excellent speciality coffee, wonderful food made with award winning cured meats made on site, special evening events, and free parking, what more could you ask for! A real hidden gem of Oakham, and one of the few places open in the area on a monday.

Returning from Lancashire to Suffolk & had taken detour to avoid traffic problems. Saw a sign for a cafe but couldn’t find it & somehow finished up @ The Hare & Hog. So glad we did! The venue was spotless, the staff delightful & the food & drink delicious. There were only 2 other customers but hopefully this is not the norm as they certainly deserve to be well patronised.

I can't stress enough that everything that I have bought from the Hare and Hog is very high quality and very tasty. The service is great and the people are lovely and welcoming. If I am ever in the area and have time I will buy from their charcuterie and get something like a cake. If you think you have eaten good salami, I don't think you have until you have tried theirs.

Attended a weekend course at Rutland Enterprise Park, and popped out for lunch with a fellow student. Lovely little modern cafe, spotlessly clean and comfortable, with a lovely ambiance. The weather was poor, so we ate inside, but there are tables outside for when the weather is good. Had a pastrami roll, which was delicious, well filled with lovely tasty pastrami on a soft focaccia type of bread roll, and a flat white coffee, which was also excellent. Conscious we needed to get back into the classroom, a request to wrap halo my roll, and a paper cup for my colleagues tea was met with a smile and quickly done. I confess even living locally I wasn’t aware of this little jewel, which is really sad, as we were the only customers on Saturday lunchtime. Granted it was raining heavily, but this place deserves to be packed, given the lovely food it offers. Would highly recommend, and will definitely be visiting again.

Have been here a couple of times now for coffee and cake. Today I had Clementine and orange cake. WOW it was lovely - light as a feather with a bit of a bite from the orange. The coffee is excellent. Staff very friendly.

Hidden away this is a super little café serving paninis, charcuterie and cheeses (also ploughmans and equivalent). Service is lovely and quaint and food is fresh and excellent. Should also mention the home made cakes.

If you are just popping in for coffee and cake or for a leisurely gourmet lunch, this is a wonderful place to go. The home prepared charcuterie is amazing and the home made pork pies are the best. The coffee here is excellent and the cakes are delicious too. Ooh, they also serve excellent wines by the glass or bottle. If the weather is nice, sit outside in the sunshine or if not, inside in the cosy and vibrant café. This is a great place that I can't fault. Try it for yourself and see.

Went for lunch with a friend. We shared a charcuterie platter - 6 kinds of meat, dressed leaves, pickles, bread - and two pieces of cake, victoria sponge and a plummy thing, with a bottle of beer, an elderflower presse and a cafe latte. I can't comment on the presse but the rest was excellent, except that the beer could have been a bit colder. I'm not normally a cake person but these were light and moist.

Visited Oakham today and found this little gem. The homemade soup was delicious so was the amazing Christmas toastie. Packed with turkey, stuffing, cheese and cranberry topped with a pig in blanket on top and a side of dipping gravy. Treat yourself but go with an appetite!
