Well we certainly would highly recommend The Harrogate Tea Rooms for a delicious and plentiful Afternoon Tea! It’s necessary to book in advance and we were required to pay a £10 per person deposit. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and shown to our reserved table, where we were each asked for our choice of sandwich. I chose Coronation Chicken - AMAZING! My husband chose cheese and chutney. YUM! The bread was super fresh, and the sandwiches were bursting with filling. We were also given cute dainty teacups containing coleslaw, plus a generous balsamic dressed salad. The fruit scones were really light and fluffy and we each had a little jar of jam and a generous serving of clotted cream. We were offered a fresh pot of tea after around 30 minutes. Our top tier contained a lovely selection of cakes, which we only managed to each eat one! The rest were kindly boxed up for us to take home. The staff were all very friendly and we will definitely return.

Delightful place in a beautiful old arcade. The owners were very friendly. Had the "Yorkshire rarebit" with a ginger beer - was very tasty and served with a side salad, followed by the blueberry scone - delicious - would definitely recommend!

We were visiting for the day and thought we might try this place as the arcade looked nice. The cafe was very quiet (when everywhere in Harrogate was busy) which tells a story. Friendly hosts, nice and clean although limited offerings. My scone was meant to be blueberry but 1/2 a blueberry in a whole scone seems a little mean. The price however is the most disappointing. 8.70 for a scone, butter and a pot of tea is excessive. Not even leaf tea - just tea bags although it was nice. My friend had the jam and cream and it was well over 12.00. Too much and really indicates why this cafe is quiet.

Absolutely love this place! If you’re thinking of going, please do! Set in a quaint, Victorian style building, a lovely space with plenty of tables! It was quiet when we got there which was great for us to relax. We prebooked Afternoon Tea to celebrate my mums birthday, the whole Afternoon Tea was amazing; so yummy and well worth the money! Sandwiches were fresh and delicious and so was everything else. We had to take away the cakes as we were so full! The gentleman who looked after us (sorry I didn’t get your name) was so caring, involving us in conversation and they even went the extra mile with a birthday candle and song! Everything we could have wanted and more! All in all, I would recommend to everyone - I will be back!

We enjoyed the tea rooms after a visit to Harrogate. We all had afternoon tea for lunch and would recommend that the cakes and sweets need a little less sugar as it literally drowned out the taste of everything else. End of a day out in Harrogate and you need a cuppa tea before setting out home, you do, you know you do. So what do you do? Well, you can wander round to Betty’s (famous, grand place I know) and join a queue which most likely will be near to or round the corner, or go looking for alternative tea shops. We saw the Harrogate Tea Rooms sign as we passed the arcade (and as it was one of those British summer days, sun, wind, shower, downpour all in the space of 30 minutes we thought “at least if there’s a queue it’s inside.” and went to have a look. The arcade was practically empty - it was time for heading home after all - when we arrived at the Tea Room. The owner told us they were still open and showed us to a table, took contact details for COVID-19 and gave us menus, he told us there were scones and a range of cakes available. After our “exertions” we decided we could share a scone (sultana and vanilla, with fresh cream and jam) plus Yorkshire tea for two, and a ginger beer for the other member of our party.Service was quick and friendly. The ginger beer as expected, the tea a fine brew and a good quantity, and the scone was heavenly. We were set up for the journey home.We looked at the boards listing items from the lunch menu, scones etc and all had prices clearly displayed. The soup and sandwich option looked pretty tempting for another visit.

My wife and I fell on this little cafe on the top floor of an arcade and asked for two bacon and egg sandwiches along with two coffees. Both were excellent and the service friendly however the charge was £20.40p! Even Manchester Airport charge less than that.It was only on leaving that we noticed that no prices were shown either on the blackboard menu or on any other form of notice so one wonders if the pricing is dependant on your point of origin. Tourists beware!

Walked past the more famous Betty's in search of somewhere quieter, as we just wanted a tea/coffee and a bun, and found this little place hidden away upstairs in an arcade off the main street.Welcomed with a smile and told to take a seat and they would take our order. My wife had a pot of the Stray afternoon tea whilst I had a Lazy Sunday cafetiere for one and we both had a homemade scone, topped with icing and a glace cherry. All of it was lovely and, as it was quiet, both the owner and the young man serving, had time for a friendly chat.So good, we finished off by ordering a slice each of the gin and lemon drizzle cake and the spiced Xmas tea loaf, which came with a piece of wensleydale cheese, as per the North Yorkshire custom to take back to our hotel for a treat later. Both homemade and, again, both absolutely delicious. Would truly recommend hunting this place down.

The lemon and gin drizzle cake was a definite hit with my husband who said he could definitely taste the gin and I love fruit cake served with Wensleydale cheese - such a taste of Yorkshire. High quality fresh food prepared to order. I called in today and had a coffee and a sultana scone. The coffee was hot and delicious and the scone was warm and just fell apart. I am sure the scones must be the best in Yorkshire.Ok you dont get waitresses in frilly caps and aprons as in the posh place up the road (I am not sure they would suit the owner of the cafe anyway) but you also dont have to wait for hours in the wind and rain. We stopped by on the strength of other TripAdvisor reviews. Between us we had soup with half a sandwich, a panini, tea and coffee. The soup was lovely - clearly home made - and the quality of the ham and cheese in the panini was very good, but the food was rather expensive (our bill came to £25). The service from the gentleman was very good but the two young lasses who served us was pretty poor: one delivered the plate sand left mine half on and half off the rather small table rather than move their clutter of menus/condiments, etc to make room for it. The other girl brought our cutlery and just plonked it all down in a pile. I'm sorry to say I wouldn't return: there's far too much choice in Harrogate.

I found this quintessential British Tea Room tucked away upstairs in the shopping arcade. It was wonderful not to be bustled into a tightly packed, stressful (or pretentious but serves tea and coffee) space as so many cafes are in Harrogate. The couple- owners/waiter/cook/baker were brilliant, very helpful, attentive, accommodating and modest. Had lunch followed by a scone (well half a scone and half a cake with my friend). Delicious! I’m very choosy about my scones as my Mum was an excellent scone baker and everyone used to think she had a secret trick. The Tea Room definitely has this trick!! Beware the attraction of 'tearooms' in Harrogate. We attended this 'tearoom' on a cold November day and were rather disappointed to see that it was an adapted former shop in an aging arcade and spilled out into the public walkway. It was busy, so expected good quality food at reasonable prices. However, we were disappointed. Two scones, from a packet, with 'clotted cream', from a mass manufactured can, and poor quality at that. Soup from a can with a bread roll that would not have been out of place in a Lidl multipack. Three not inspiring coffees, total bill £27! The place was full of gullible tourists, like us. Thankfully, Tripadvisor is our comeback. As a chef, I am well aware of the price, the presentation of quality food and the costs of running a small business. This price is not £27 for bulk buy produce to serve to 'passing trade'. Take a look at yourselves at the Harrogate Tearooms, don't abuse your tourist trade, as we may stop coming altogether.

Came here when we saw the size the queue at Betties. Glad we did as the prices here were much more reasonable! It had a good choice of tea, sandwiches and cakes. But I enjoyed the cream scones the most, as they were freshly baked.

Having seen the queue at Bettys, We looked for a place to sit and take refreshment. Westminster arcade had a sign advertising tea rooms, Perfect we thought. Problem. My good lady uses a mobility scooter for any distance. The tea room is on the second floor accessed only (I thought) by two lots of stairs. The scooter, being somewhat early dalek like, does not do stairs. I scouted out the location of said tearooms, determined that I would not be thwarted in my quest to quench my thirst. On explaining our predicament to the host of the establishment, He went out of his way to help us negotiate the antiquated, but functional goods lift. (The weight limit was in Hundredweights it was that early) Having settled our weary bones upon a comfortable chair we ordered two cream teas, (well, one cream coffee, but that's me being picky) Served quickly and efficiently. The scones were a delight to eat, the jam had real fruit in it and the cream was silky smooth. When we had sated our appetite, the whole process of reuniting ourselves with the 'mobility scooter who refused to do stairs', was repeated and we bid our farewell's to the gracious host. Thank you Dave and Julie.

Lovely place to meet up with friends. Very tasty piece of rhubarb tea loaf with a slice of wensleydale cheese, excellent vegan lemon drizzle cake as described by my friend. Homemade and served in a cute and cosy setting.

We hear a lot about Betty’s of Harrogate but as they do not allow dogs, we were told about this place by a local. Friendly and quick service from Tony who made us feel really welcome.

Thought I made nice scones. Until today. Why do people queue for Betty's when this tea shop is just opposite , upstairs in Westminster arcade. Delicious cakes and the best scones I should think in the whole country, not just Yorkshire .

Stopped here when passing through Harrogate and fell in love with it. This independent tea room is small, quaint and serves excellent cake. The icing on said cake though, comes in the form of the mr and mrs running the show. Absolutely perfect. Highly recommended.

Stumbled across the team rooms by accident escaping the weather and what a gem! Lovely big pot of team and have to say the cherry bakewell cake is amongst the best cakes I've ever had - amazing. Service was also excellent.

I visited today with my mam and auntie. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. They wanted to order scones but they had sold out. The owner then said he would bake some fresh. He made peach melba scones which they said were delicious. I will definitely be returning. A real gem.

A friend & I visited the Tea Rooms for the first time this morning. We enjoyed coffee and the most delicious Blackberry & Apple scones we have ever tasted! Freshly made, they were amazing! Extremely friendly couple who made us very welcome. This cafe is a bit hidden away in Westminster Arcade, but look out for it! We'll certainly be back, and highly recommend it!

I’ve now had the pleasure of visiting the gorgeous Tea Room twice. Both times I’ve been particularly struck by the warmth and kindness of the owners. Not to mention the cakes! Everything Home made and total care to detail. I can highly recommend the plum scones and my son loved the lemon drizzle cake.

A quaint yet stylish atmosphere at the top of Parliament Street's Westminster Arcade, The Tea Rooms deliver food and drinks with a difference. There are no boring, tasteless scones here! Instead, imaginative combinations create a memorable experience. The Mars bar flapjack will live long in the memory (let's be honest, each on their own are pretty good too!). Genuine, personal service, and a heartfelt concept that works. Excellent.

We popped here for some brunch on our last day in Harrogate. The husband and wife team were so incredibly friendly and welcoming and the food was lovely. We only intended to stop for some scrambled egg on toast but also ended up leaving with a Mars Bar Flapjack and a Rocky Road as we just couldn't resist. We ate these on the car journey home!

Friendly and welcoming service and the coffee was excellent. If I lived here I would have more opportunity to sample the wonderful homebaking! Next time I'm in the area it will be first on my list of places to go. Scones are out of this world.

Is this one of the greatest sweet shops in the world? Probably. We bumped into this sweet shop because we turned left instead of right. Going back in time is how I should describe this experience. 'Like a kid in a sweet shop', except I'm not kid..... But I did have the children with me. The shelves are filled with an array of sweets, cookies, toys etc etc. I half expected to find Willie Wonkas chocolate bar and the golden ticket. It was a treat to find a shop full of tradition, friendly staff and shelf after shelf of traditional sweets mixed with every surprise and concoction of chocolate. It was a great experience, and hopefully we will visit this shop again and again .. and again .... and again ..... and
