We had lunch here today and we were so impressed- the service and food was amazing- we had the brisket of beef sandwich and soup, it was the nicest lunch we’ve had for a long time- we will def be back- our waitress Beth was lovely too- what a little gem 🤩xx

Beautiful interior, lovely coffee and cake, pie and quiche really well cooked , chips a little under cooked and thin gray but will definitely come back again.

Our first visit to the Garden Room….was not disappointed. Food was plentiful and vey tasty. Christina and Lou were excellent hosts.

Fantastic service from Lewis and Christina. They were especially accommodating with my daughter who has Autism and ADHD as they altered the menu a little to fit her sensory needs. Great atmosphere, lovely food and fantastic friendly staff. My daughter wanted to add our thanks to the chef who gave her chocolate sauce and chocolate bits on her ice cream! She also said the chef is a brilliant cook - high praise in deed from someone with sensory issues and being a fussy eater. Many thanks xx

First time visiting, ord the Sunday Roast Beef, which was lovely the Roast Beef melted in the mouth, Veg cooked nicely not over cooked, finished off with sticky toffee pudding which was light & tasty

We popped in for coffee, the greeting, menu and service was excellent so we ordered fish & chips. Wonderful can recommend. I especially enjoyed the hearty skin on chips which were great! The fish was excellent. Beautifully cooked. 👍

Avoid. Food over-priced and run by greedy management. Visited for lunch with family for a new-year get together. The meals were adequate, though over-priced. For £8.50 the sandwiches were not value for money; single sandwich small handful of crisps and a spoon of coleslaw as the only accompaniment, the offer was basic. We ordered several children's meals, plus an adult sandwich for one of the children who was extra-hungry, assuming it would be substantially more than a child's portion for the £2 extra. When it arrived the child's toastie and the adult sandwich were exactly the same size. The waitress, then her manager, refused to reduce the price to match the child's meal (I asked for the £2 off). The site manager was called, who also refused, stating that the child's meal was in fact incorrect and we had had more than we should have had. We left having to pay the full price, and completely stunned and outraged by the immovable and discourteous reaction. After spending over £100 on lunch for 8 people, they could not even offer us the requested £2 off as gesture of goodwill so that we left happy. Instead we left feeling cheated and disgusted. Terrible management decision that has left a large party of very disappointed people for the sake of £2. Greedy management who do not appear to care about customer satisfaction. Avoid.

Coffee and cake x 2 came to £17. Large cups but quickly chilled and cake slice on the small size unless I was just unlucky. Not the most comfortable of venues. Hard chairs, very noisy acoustics, not helped by a large party using one half as some sort of function. Meals coming out looked ok to be fair and staff friendly.

Visited for Sunday Lunch prior to Christmas. We were not impressed. At 1:30 on a Sunday they had run out of two of the four children's meal options - no fish fingers or sausages. They had also run out of one of the vegetables (spinach) on the main menu. The waitress also told us they were "running low" on pigs in blankets, so she did not know if we would get any with the Christmas Sandwich. She didn't know what one of the menu items was, and had no idea what the vegetables of the day were. Food arrived in a reasonable time, and was just about OK. We won't be returning.

Went here for a Christmas lunch. Portion size was on the small size for the money.

Lovely venue with excellent food and service

Christmas menu was excellent, brilliant gluten free choice and very accommodating. Chester and Jake and manager Sharon were fantastic. We had a Spanish guitarist in on the night and the whole place had a great atmosphere.

Met a friend for a walk around the house and lunch. Had the Xmas roast. Excellent food. Lovely staff. It was Christine's first day and she was super. All in all an excellent visit.

I had the worst experience. We decided to have lunch and it quickly became clear that it was infested with wasps. They were everywhere hovering around our food, flying into our drinks, and just generally making the atmosphere unbearable. We tried to move tables, but it didn’t help. It felt like we were constantly swatting them away however I have to say the manager Nicky was very welcoming and gave us an outstanding service, helping us with every little thing even tho we couldn’t even enjoy our meal because of the wasps and we ended up leaving early. Definitely not coming back anytime soon.

Service was outstanding- nicky is very personally person and she went out of her way to help us and others. We witnessed her helping people to tables and holding doors open. Took time to chat and show an interest making each customer feel very special. However the food was awful - Turkey barms. The turkey was dry, very small gravy on the side. We heard another waitress saying it has sold out and it was only 1pm. Never go back. The place is full of wasps too making it not a nice place to relax in.

I recently visited this cafe and unfortunately had a pretty unpleasant experience. First off, the place was absolutely swarming with wasps! On a positive note, the manager, Nicky, was incredibly kind and attentive. She clearly cares about her customers and was doing her best to make things right. Despite Nicky’s great customer service, I just can’t overlook the wasp infestation. I won’t be returning unless they find a way to handle the insect infestation!

My sausage sandwich was awful, sausages were. Very under cooked so I left it, the place is infested with wasps, I will not be returning, the only decent thing about the place was the service from the lady that served us, Nicky was very polite and couldn’t do enough for us, but unfortunately the food was horrendous

I ordered a sausage sandwich which was cold and the sausages were very well under cooked, the price of the sandwich was ridiculous and the establishment was also infested with wasps which were all over place, I will not be returning this incompetent establishment. The only good thing about this hole was the member staff who treated us really well who I think was called Nicky. It was one experience to forget

Awful food So many wasps - it’s a serious problem. Nicky (supervisor) and Chloe were so lovely yet as guests of the establishment we witnessed one of them being spoken to very abruptly by kitchen staff and that’s not acceptable in front of customers. Nicky always has a smile on her face and was so personable and welcoming.nothing was too much for her to do to make it a warm and welcoming place.

I had a lovely visit to Salmesbury Gardens Tea Room. The seating area is spacious and comfortable and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. There's plenty of parking available too. Highly recommend it!

5 star restaurant the foods really good and Nicky and Chloe provided really good warming service. It has lots of flowers around pictures of flowers and other stuff and has a lovely garden feel. We will defo be coming again.

We called Samlesbury Hall to book an afternoon tea - We were under the impression that we would be eating within the grounds in a historical location. As it turns out, we were in the corner of a carpark in a garden-centre style building. From the minute we walked in we were overwhelmed by the smell of sewage (though the toilets were very clean) and lack of heating. The afternoon tea itself was much smaller than expected and the cakes were very disappointing - Considering the hefty price we paid of £24 per person and having to pay days in advance, we were not happy with what we received. The service was friendly and welcoming but we thought it rather cheeky that one member of the group who had neither tea nor coffee was asked to pay for their single orange juice. Quite disappointed and will not return. 2/5

Five of us had lunch here today. Manageress Nicky very welcoming. We all had different dishes with no disappointments. Homemade pie of the day highly rated especially as it came with mash & jug of gravy, also batter on fish (with chips) declared outstanding. & a Buddha bowl fresh & tasty. Waitresses Libby & Beth were friendly & efficient. A very pleasant place to visit & lots of free parking outside.

My husband and I visited yesterday for lunch and we will certainly be visiting again soon. I had the homemade cheese pie with fresh chunky chips and fresh vegetables(choice of mash too, I was torn which to have….sorry I let you down Nicky !) hubby had traditional fish and chips oh my goodness they were good, our compliments to the chef. What a beautiful place to eat in so clean and wonderfully rustic in beautiful surroundings. The food was excellent and what made it most pleasurable was the service, nothing was too much trouble, Nicky was our server and she was a tonic, chatty, friendly, so personable and smiley (the world at present needs a few more like Nicky!) The other young lasses serving were all equally as lovely all pleasant and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful experience see you again soon.

We had a lovely lunch after looking around the Hall. There was a good variety of choice, the food was delicious and Nicky was really welcoming. We’ll be back to try the breakfast menu soon!

We'd never been before, and while I agree with a previous review that the signage to the correct car park was inadequate, it was only a minor inconvenience which can be easily rectified! The venue itself was beautiful. Light and airy with fairy lights dotted about giving it a touch of whimsy. Plenty of seating available, I noticed several tables had been reserved. I appreciated that we were sat a reasonable distance from other diners which we were told is standard practice here when there is the capacity to do so! I ordered the hot beef and gravy sandwich on ciabatta, and I swapped the crisps for chips. My only real complaint is that I feel £4 is a bit of a steep price tag to attach to a portion of chips on an £11.50 sandwich. "Cheap as chips" certainly doesn't apply here. That said, they were tasty, and I was offered an extra jug of gravy, much to my delight! Staff were all friendly and service was fairly quick. With better signage in the first carpark and an adjustment to the price of the chip-swap I'd say this place would be perfect!

Called for coffee and cakes in the morning and the cakes looked good and there was a good selection but I’m not sure if the storage case was set too cold, or if the cakes were just rather dry, but they weren’t good enough to justify the price of £4.50 each. Service was okay but it was between meal times so perhaps we were lucky in that respect. Won’t be rushing back.

My first visit to The Garden Room and I'll definitely be going back. Our server Nicky was incredibly personable and bent over backwards to ensure our dietary requirements were met. Lovely atmosphere which made for a very relaxed experience. Food was delicious, although perhaps slightly over priced (but I am no food expert), but it wouldn't put me off going again. The Garden Room isn't signposted when driving into Samlesbury Hall, but it was easy to spot.

We really love our breakfasts here. Nothing is too much trouble and the food is great. Nicky was a superstar, as was Marie 👍

Booked Sunday lunch for 12:45pm in The Garden Room Eatery, Salmesbury Hall. Celebration birthday for 9 people. We booked early as one had a train to catch whilst others were interested in the Ghost Tour at 2pm. The signage to the Eatry was inadequate requiring a long walk from the two buildings. Still arrived on time but the table wasn't ready. Took the opportunity to look at the dessert on display and hoped that there would be alternatives. Once seated we had to wait a long time to order drinks and decided to order food at the same time. Drinks arrived and told no garden peas, only mushy. Getting a bit concerned about time and no food we ordered more drinks and had a quiet word with the waitress. Over one hour after sitting down it arrived. How disappointing it looked. The (small) pies were dried up, peas dried up with thin watery gravy. Kids chicken goujons overcooked and hard. Roast beef ok but some said again small portions. We noticed that another table sat before us was still waiting for food. As a couple had to leave straight after for the train,and now too late for the Ghost Tour. I went over to express my opinion and pay the bill. Didn't want to stay for dessert. The waitress said she would pass on my remarks to the chef regarding the quality of the food, but they were busy and had offered another table free drinks as they too had waited a long time for food. Having not wanted to spoil a special day anymore we left. I looked at reviews from diners and very shocked to find complaints going back a year. Only if I had checked first! The next morning I telephone and spoke to Sharon Jones, she was aware that there had been problems and sympathetically listened to my Issues. She promised to look into what went wrong and get back to me within two days. One week later Sharon Jones had not been in contact and then an email arrived from the Hamlet & Reception Manager “Please find attached a voucher for £20.00 which you can use at the Garden room, Wafflery or towards an overnight stay” Please accept this with our apologies and thank you so much for the feedback it is very important to us. Not good enough, and nobody really wants to know. But I thought that people who are spending their hard earned money may well do so.

With only 2 hours notice we arrived on a coach from Scotland and wanted some food at 1.45pm. The staff were amazing and although they ran out of fish and chips we had a nice meat pie- Most impressive/

The food looked very nice. Unfortunately we didn't get the chance to taste ours. It was 20 minutes before our order was taken, and after we had been there for an hour and 10 minutes, we still hadn't received any food. We were told there were still 3 ordrrs in front of ours. We therefore cancelled our order, paid for our coffees, and left. We had various explanations for the long wait, we're very busy, we're short staffed, one of the ovens isn't working etc. Maybe we were unlucky and picked a bad day, but I don't think we'll be visiting again.

Called in after my tour around The Hall Had a delicious Buddha Bowl The food was beautifully presented by a very pleasant server The Staff on the till were equally delightful - they enquired if we had enjoyed our tour. They demonstrated a pride in The Hall.

Stunning location, amazing food, attentive service! The only downside is the pricing, I found it very expensive, even though I know it’s all homemade, sorry! I would come more or recommend to friends if it was more competitive. Similar prices to Ribble Valley restaurants

Arrived at this glorified marquee and was disappointed by the limited but expensive breakfast menu. My English breakfast was okay but not worth £13.50 . My friend was disappointed and baffled that you can have Eggs Benedict at lunchtime but you can't have poached eggs on toast for breakfast!! For me the food is over priced for what it is and it's not like you are eating in the quaint surroundings of the hall itself.

We had pre-booked a table for 10 paying £100 deposit. We arrived at 12.45, 15mins early and were greeted and seated immediately. After 20mins we were told apologetically that they were short staffed and we would have to wait a further 30mins for food. It was a hot day and even sitting beside open doors we waited so long that I eventually started feeling ill and had to sit outside in the herb garden rather than inside under a glass roof. The food did not arrive until 2.10pm and although it was good, what had started out as a lovely family get together had been spoiled. The children were very hungry by the time everything arrived. I spoke to the manager afterwards and pointed out that they had been aware we were coming for some time. Surely knowing they had a large booking as well as walk-in customers should have promoted getting enough staff to work. The response was that we couldn’t have picked a more busy day and she couldn’t turn customers away. The point was that we were there in plenty of time, they knew we were coming and yet we still had to wait well over an hour. Not acceptable.

If you are in the area I recommend you call in. Very friendly staff lovely food and a pleasant relaxed atmosphere. Thank you Dave

We visited the hall five years ago but we only had an ice cream on that hot summer day. Last Friday we took our good friend (a lady of 95) out. She lives near the hall and recommended the Heritage Cafe for lunch. We were not disappointed! The food was scrumptious and beautifully served by a lovely waitress. We will certainly visit again before too long, despite it being a 40 mile journey from our home in South Manchester.

Lovely visit to The Garden Room Eatery (formerly the Heritage Cafe) we were greeted by a lovely member of staff, who looked after us throughout our visit, the service was very efficient and we were served quickly. We didn’t have a full breakfast on this occasion, but people around us did, and said it was amazing. It was a lovely atmosphere and everyone was very friendly. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Absolutely beautiful hidden gem! We came for just a coffee and cake but stayed for breakfast instead. I've come many times with my pooch and have always had a wonderful time, today the coffee was delicious!! Took my parents out for a coffee here and we were completely blown away by the beautiful surroundings, warm & friendly service, and delicious food. The gentleman that served us made delicious coffees and made us feel very welcome. Our sweet treat at the wafflery was gorgeous and Maria was so lovely. We’ll definitely be back soon maybe for afternoon tea.

Great spot for a slow Sunday morning coffee. Comfy chairs, newspapers and excellent service. We nipped in to pass an hour while we were waiting for a tour at Samlesbury Hall. The staff were excellent, friendly, professional, efficient and made a great coffee! We will definitely revisit.

The food was delicious but expensive. My main issue was service. We waited for our order to be taken but eventually attracted their attention to order after a considerable wait. The serving staff were friendly. But I am amazed at looking back at reviews the number of people who had a similar experience and yet months later it doesn’t seem to have been addressed. It could be wonderful, but basics need addressing

Just popped in at the last minute for a freshment, it was 16.09, we thought they shut at 4pm but they said it shut at 4.30pm so they kindly let us have a quick pot of tea and a scone with jam and cream. Decor is lovely and natural and pretty, I can imagine it'd be busy in the day.

A lovely relaxed cafe with nice gardens. We very much enjoyed sitting under cover whilst being near the wide open doors with views of the garden. Staff were lovely and polite. I rarely take time to review but the chilled out vibe really was perfect, complemented by relaxed quiet music, and was a refreshing change. The place seems really clean too. Cake was nice and coffee was decent.

Lovely cafe but disappointing service and drinks. Decaf coffee was milky and weak. Mostly young Staff need proper barista and customer service training. Would not recommend.

we went for coffee and cake on a Sunday lunch time we waited not too long to order the coffee came after about 10 mins but the cake took about 25mins as they were busy ,the tables were very close together which meant people were struggling to get past including the waiters ,the coffee and cake was very good but let down by the layout and time it took to bring the food

Very poor service with inexperienced staff. Nothing special about our lunch / quite basic really. Dessert (choc brownie) was a disgrace: stale, dry, rock hard and arrived with a mouldy strawberry - absolutely no attention to detail. We did complain of course - the brownie could not be eaten. We were discounted for the poor service - and not charged for the brownie. Such a let down when we were really looking forward to the visit. My last visit was 2 yrs ago - what a difference!

At a loose end on Bank Holiday Saturday and we were searching somewhere for lunch but wanted to avoid the usual queue for a table farm shops and pubs. The venue is very easy to find on the A677 Preston to Blackburn Road. A long sweeping drive takes you past the stunning main house of Samlesbury Hall (we couldn't go in due to a private function but will definitely return) into an ample parking area. The cafe is at the opposite end of the car park to the popular crazy golf (again we never knew existed) and we went inside and were shown to our table. Plenty of choice on the menu for lunch. A choice of nibbles, hot & cold sandwiches or main meals. We both opted for hot sandwiches, a posh fish finger butty with homemade slaw and homemade nachos (the best we've ever tasted). 3 generous potions of battered fish on a tasty bun. My other half had the vegetarian option of Mediterranean vegetables and pesto on a rather large toasted ciabatta, with a generous side salad and more very tasty nachos. The staff were very attentive, very well trained and all were kept busy by a good flow of diners. You had the choice to dine inside or out and I would imagine when the weather gets a little warmer then the Heritage Cafe is going to be very popular indeed. Infact we can't wait to visit again.
