We went for dinner on christmas day and i would thoroughly recommend it. The food was excellent as were the staff. We would go again.

I have been a regular at the horseshoes since 1978, took the family for Boxing Day lunch. Service was good, no complaints. Personally my dinner was not up to scratch. Starter of mushrooms was good. The main which was turkey roast was not good. The turkey was tasty, but the stuffing tasted like it had not been cooked at all, not edible. The brussels were small and were so hard, unable to eat at all. One of the potatoes was cooked well and edible. The other two were very hard and not edible. The 2 pigs in blanket were not tasty, not up to your usual standard at all. so not eaten. The one parsnip and the one carrot I had were cooked to perfection and tasty. The gravy was tasty. But due to this I didn't not really enjoy my dinner. 6/10 I did not complain as this is not the done thing when you are out with your family. Felt disillusioned this year!

Nice country pub/restaurant - Good for families, couples and friend groups.

We were a large party of 12. I am not speaking for everyone, just myself. I ordered the Dirty burger. We waited 50 minutes for our main courses, which I personally think is way too long. When my burger came, it was over-cooked (dry with a charcoal taste on the outside). The cheese topping was nice, as was the bun and gherkin. The chips were over-cooked too, and were way too crispy and hard as a result. I had a burnt burger taste in my mouth for 20 minutes after. I did eat it all, as I was very hungry, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience. We then ordered puddings, and again had a long wait (approx 30 minutes). I chose the Chocolate bomb, and this was very nice. Nice chocolate and sponge, tasty ice cream and the hot toffee sauce was a delight. I also had two pints of Neck Oil with my meal, which was served nice and cold as it should be. The value for money rating would have been higher had the food being better. All in all, an average experience for me, 3 stars.

Poor! Seven of us visited for Christmas lunch, service was slow maybe understandably due to time of year however food was very poor. Squid starter chewy and totally tasteless, both vegetarian pies over baked, pastry hard and dry, filling clearly watery and tasteless, clearly previously frozen. Roast potatoes very poor, pale and uncrispy. Burger was requested with no cheese and mayo but came with everything. We didn’t bother with desserts. Sadly we won’t be returning which is a shame as internally the pub has a lovely feel and a nice ambience.

Great food, good service and nicely decorated for Christmas.

The horseshoes is our favourite place as a family. The team are always so friendly and hardworking. We visited today - Christmas Day. We were welcomed by every team member with a smile on their face. Drinks were delicious - including cocktails and mocktails. Food was presented lovely and the vegan food was beautiful. Something other places seem to lack. The atmosphere was calm and joyful. Thank you to Lisa, Phil and all out front and in the kitchen for making the day so special for us.

Average food, overpriced. Had the mini dessert and cocktail but was charged for the items separately, when the server was asked to correct this she refused.

Both the food and the service were excellent. The staff were very efficient and our meals over all courses arrived in a timely manner. I would highly recommend a visit.

I recommended the Horseshoes for our annual family gathering for Christmas Dinner after having a superb meal earlier on in the year . Unfortunately we were disappointed . Staff were rushed off their feet. The food took a very long time to be served and then was really not up to standard. Sprouts were hot but not cooked, actually they were raw! Roast potatoes weren't fresh and tasted preheated. No salt and pepper on the tables, we went to fetch them ourselves. The creme brulee wasn't quite as it should have been, crispy flamed on top. Overall I thought the meal was awful and went home feeling very embarrassed and deflated especially as I had recommended the Horseshoes. A few other family members were disappointed with their meals but felt too awkward / to complain. We enjoyed the evening as it was our family's yearly get together but were were mostly disappointed with the quality of the food.

Excellent food and service from the lovely Brandon and Jess. The atmosphere was lovely! Although very busy we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Will definitely return!

Amazing food and a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend especially the lamb rump and steak and Malbec pie. We look forward to coming back.

came here today for a lovely sunday roast, had the roast chicken and we also had the roast beef. was absolutely amazing. really nice little quaint place & the servers/staff were all so lovely. lost a start only bcos my second bit of chicken was quite dry, but i’ll definitely be back!!

We came for a lovely meal last Friday night. The manager came and did our drink order and was so friendly and welcoming and the rest of the team that served us after were just as amazing. The food was outstanding, hot and flavourful. We had a lot of vouchers which wasn’t a problem and they spent time helping us. Would definitely recommend it.

1st Visit. Great atmosphere, very friendly welcoming staff. lovely Christmas decorations and fantastic food and drinks. Small thing but we had side plates and were never offered bread, which i always think is a nice thing for restaurant's to offer. Will definitely return

The food, choice and setting were all fantastic as always. We all very much enjoyed the meal. The staff very very busy, perhaps a little short-staffed. but they were very personable and effective. My only issue relates to the free bottle of Chapel Down. It's unclear what is needed to claim this before attending. On arrival, I raised that we should be entitled to the free bottle and was told this could only be provided with the QR code. So, I tried to hunt down the QR code, not ideal when trying to socialise, especially as I hadn't received a QR code. The bottle was provided for free in the end, but I had to remind them after we received the bill and felt I needed to put forward my case. I remember exactly the same happening last year; it was like de ja vu. We very much enjoyed everything else about the experience. As an associated note, I ordered a Tanqueray No. 10 with tonic, but there was SO much ice in it that it was difficult to enjoy the quality of the drink, coupled with the amount of time spent trying to find the QR code, the ice then melted substantially and I had a very watered down G&T :(

Service was good until we were asked if we wanted desert,we waited 20 mins or more for menu which we didn't get so just asked for bill and left. Lighting is really bad,people were using their phone torch to see menu,My grandson dropped his toys under the table and it was filthy,which we only noticed as we had to use our torches. Food was good 👍

This is an exceptional place to eat, trust me I've been to a lot of places in Kent and without doubt the Horshoes is just devine...

First time at this Pub, had read the reviews and had high expectations of the food and we wasn't disappointed, Although we had only had Sunday roast it was lovely. Service was really nice and cheerful but a little slow but it was busy. We will return again and highly recommend to anyone.

Very nice Sunday lunch highly recommend if in the area

Booked easily & amended time easily. However no one available on arrival to greet us & to show to table, so ended up finding members of party already there. Advised fillet steak wasn’t available as had sold out however it was available for Surf n Turf. Then it was agreed Fillet steak was available. Drinks were initially fine but then after one bottle of Prosecco they then ran out of Prosecco & had to change the type of Prosecco. The same happened with the Red wine & we were advised after one glass of Malbec this had also run out. When asked why so much was running out, they advised they didn’t get a delivery as normal on Monday, however this was Friday. Wouldn’t recommend, only would return because there is limited choice locally.

Gorgeous decor, we were able to choose our table near the fireplace which was so cosy and warm. The pub wasn't overcrowded which makes us easy to chat with friends. FOH was very attentive, friendly and polite. The food was delicious but I found the portions a bit small. I would return back for sure.

We went for a three course meal early evening on a Friday. The service was fabulous and the food and drinks were great. We had the belly pork...tasted great was sad to not be able to finish it!

I had a fantastic birthday dinner although the rib eye was a little chewy, nevertheless it was really juicy and the taste was superb. The prices have increased somewhat from the last time we visited but this was mitigated by a 40% discount offer on the main courses. I had a gift card that I used to pay part of the bill which didn't register on the pub system but Millie the staff member was really helpful and instead of refusing the card, because I had email confirmation of it's authenticity she took responsibility for checking on the issue rather than refusing its use and making me sort it with the head office staff who had issued it. Overall outstanding service that went above and beyond in a really friendly manner. Well done Horseshoes I'll continue to be a regular customer for special and family occasions.

We have eaten here a few times and every time the service is excellent as is the food. We have just been for lunch today and we're sweved by Millie and Luke who were both excellent. We had the Chateaubriand special and enjoyed it very much.

A lovely evening went in for drinks ended up having dinner as well. Great service from the staff Polly and Tess who accommodated us without having a reservation food was delicious much improved over previous visits. If you haven’t been to The Horseshoes recently try again much improved.

Our first visit was 5 stars, the food and service was fantastic. Big thank you to Vicky and Daisy for making our experience an enjoyable one. Wonderful ambience alongside a roaring log fire. You won’t be disappointed.

Visited with two work colleagues, one a visitor from USA who wanted to visit a traditional pub. My first time here, dark winter night so can’t comment about external other than great presence as we pulled up. Lovely interior, great inglenook. Waitress was friendly and accommodating, no rushing. Chateaubriand, pork belly were cooked perfectly, pudding was great. All round a great venue.

Couldn't fault the food, but the service needs to improve significantly. Maybe you were understaffed? Whatever the reason, there were very long delays between courses. In fact, we had to prompt the clearing of our table following starters and, while the table was being cleared, our main courses arrived. If we hadn't asked to have our table cleared there would have been nowhere to put our main courses. As customers it is not our job to prompt staff to do theirs. Staff were friendly and helpful, but whoever was managing them needs to be more on-the-ball to ensure quality of service. One of the knives provided was dirty. The a la carte dessert menu was provided, but not the special price lunch menu from which we had been ordering- we had to ask for it. We were then given less than we needed and had to share the menu! The food was delicious, however, and very competitively priced.

We visited the Horseshoes for our Wedding Breakfast meal with our immediate family and all I can say is it was superb! All the staff were so helpful and welcoming even before the meal with our special requirements for privacy and pre-ordering our food and drinks for arrival. I want to say a massive thank you for making everything run so smoothly and making our special day stress free. The food was incredible and we cannot thank you enough!

Could not fault the food or the pub itself but the service was diabolical and my wife had to sign a "terms and conditions" waiver due to her nut allergy even though we were then told it's a nut free kitchen.

Thank you to Abi and Daisy for your excellent service and making my grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary so enjoyable. Also, your awareness and care around my allergies was fantastic! I am still very new to having these allergies, so thank you so much for making this a great experience and being so accommodating.

We where I'm need of lunch and called in on the off chance. A pleasant surprise. Lovely and coffee after.

A brilliant meal again this evening. We have recently started to visit the Horseshoes again and find it a lovely place to have a good evening. The food is exceptional and beautifully cooked and presented. The staff are attentive and very pleasant.and the ambience in the dining room is just right. One niggle …. as you walk up the pathway to the entrance people are smoking either side so you have to walk through a cloud of smoke. Apart from that it’s my favourite restaurant.

Easy to park. Our table was ready and we decided to get a drink at the bar. We were then escorted to our table and given menus. The restaurant is warm and comfortable. The service was friendly and professional. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Very enjoyable afternoon.

The atmosphere inside was wonderful, especially with the fire being on making it feel so warm and inviting. The staff really looked after us giving the perfect balance of having a chat with us but also leaving us be. You made us feel that you genuinely wanted us to have a really lovely evening. A very special shoutout to Noah, Vicky and especially Phil - you were all such a pleasure and incredibly good at your jobs! Can’t wait to come back… very soon!

Lovely food, and great service. What’s to improve?

I go to this pub regularly with missus and sometimes mates. It’s a bit of hit and miss. Some days I get better service than others. On the whole I always end up having a great time as the staff are chill. Their Sunday roast is a winner.

First time visit to this pub. Looks small from the outside but was quite big inside. Decor in the bar and the restaurants was really good. Plenty of choices on the menu, predominantly British dishes which suited us. All three courses were excellent and full of flavour. Piped music seemed a little loud but that may be because I have a hearing defect. Our server called us 'guys' throughout, which my wife found very annoying but that may be an 'age' thing.

First time visit. Excellent country pub really nicely decorated throughout. Plenty of choice on the menu of mainly British cuisine. What we had was full of flavour and plentiful. There is plenty of free parking behind the pub.

Nice pub good atmosphere lovely staff. Had the trio of Sunday roast. Food was nice but a little pricey for what it is. The chicken was a small chicken leg and the Yorkshire pudding was just ok, a little disappointed with that but the rest of the food was nice. Had the mini trio of desserts which was nice. The pub is on the outskirts of Maidstone just in the countryside which is a nice location.

Went here to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday, and we all enjoyed our food. The staff were very friendly and even wrote out a birthday card for him. Everyone had empty plates, even with sharing starters and having dessert. The food was filling and didn't make you feel like you'd eaten too much. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

I'm being very fair with 2* Rating... Not our first time here but I think it's my last time, firstly we were never told that we needed to order at the bar so wasted plenty of time sitting waiting for someone to take our order before having to actually ask. Then when the food came, 3 x Beef roasts, not bad but sat from good. One large bit of carrot, one large bit of parsnip, a few slices of beef, around 4 potatoes and a large overdone Yorkshire. The on the side veg was ok and the addition ally ordered cauliflower cheese was pathetic at best 3 1/2 small bits), then there's the gravy, none pretty much and not even as much as a gravy boat for the table for additional making the already overdone Yorkshire's even more dry. We had no cutlery until after the food arrived and to be honest it was pretty average at best. We decided to have deserts and the brownie was ok, warm and nice but nothing amazing, but the apple tart was nasty. No taste whatsoever and it was one of the blandest things I've eaten. The worst part is that no one even cleaned the mains away before the deserts arrived (again with no cutlery). For the price this was an awful experience and I'd not be spending my money there again, a meal with drinks coming to over £100 with such slow and poor service is a disgrace compared to other pubs selling better food with better service for less locally.

Great, friendly and helpful staff with lovely food

A brilliant pub, the staff are so friendly, attentive and helpful and the food is amazing. We had a buffet for my daughter's 18th celebration and family/friends who came were all raving about the food and the staff helped us decorate. Shout out to Millie, Vicky and Emily (I think!) But all staff so helpful. Highly recommend this place.

Visited the horseshoes for lunch today. Brilliant atmosphere, I always enjoy my time here. Had the set lunch menu- brilliant for the price and the chicken burger was perfect, my wife had fish and chips which she enjoyed. And both finished with a pudding! Was served by Millie and polly and they were just amazing right until we left. Thank you girls

A huge shoutout to the amazing team at The Horseshoes. I booked a table for a large group back in March to celebrate my other half’s 30th Birthday this month. Lisa, Millie and the team were fantastic leading up to the booking and were so friendly & helpful throughout the whole experience and staff on the day were brilliant (sorry I didn’t catch more names!). Amazing service and food! Thank you so much!

Had a great experience on Saturday. Have dine here quite a few times and always come back. Food, service and atmosphere are great. Millie was very good, helpful and cheerful.

We have just been to the Horseshoes for the first time in East Farleigh.The staff were friendly and efficient in nice surroundings.My wife chose to have the Steak and wine pie but she was disappointed in the lack of meat but the flavour was good and the plate was nice and hot.My mini creme brulee was a tad overdone and a bit too burnt on the top! The coffee was very nice to end our meal.Overall we enjoyed our meal but I thought it was important to mention the pie and creme brulee

Great trio roast for Sunday lunch

Always a good experience with great food, very friendly and helpful service and a nice atmosphere. Plenty of options to choose from, including multiple vegetarian options. Last time we were served by Vicky, Autumn and Poppy who were all excellent!

We’ve been going to the Horseshoes, East Farleigh for 25 years & the meal we had tonight was the best we’ve had there! Banging & thank-you for a stupendous meal on a random Wednesday.

The service was amazing. Our servers were Jack and Emily - they were attentive, polite and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, we had the chicken and lamb roast. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and it was such a lovely setting, we will definitely be returning and recommending. Thank you for a lovely experience.

1st time at this lovely country pub, and I wasn't disappointed. Great service, lovely staff, who were very friendly. I can imagine on a busy day/night, the atmosphere is brilliant. We only had beverages so I can't give a 5 ⭐️. I will definitely update this review in the future. Would definitely recommend this establishment.

Food, staff, location all ok. Nothing negative but nothing outstanding either.

Lovely looking country pub however the roast dinner is just awful. I’m afraid the gravy tasted like a wine jus. As for the so called roast potatoes they were definitely microwaved. Roast chicken had 0 taste. Veg not cooked properly. Honestly would never come back for the roast or recommend. It’s the first time I have not finished a roast dinner and for me that says it all.

Must have caught the kitchen on a bad day, our Sunday Roast Lunch was not good. Grisly one & half slices of Duo Beef. Potatoes not crispy, Veg not very nice (one carrot & one parsnip) Yorkshire Pudding soft . Overall pretty poor.

Had to go get McDonalds afterwards it was bad ! Dry Yorkshire pudding unusually gravy, potatoes were like boiled not cooked off well, and someone else said the chicken reminded them of prison food unusually to get chicken on the bone like that almost like they didn’t cook a whole roast chicken, we were barely asked if we Wanted drinks eveyone had to keep getting up and going to the bar. Very disappointing Won’t be back

We had 2 mains and two sweets. 1 glass of wine and half a lager. My linguine lacked taste and was lacking the seafood but over compensated with chorizo.

Had an amazing time here. The service from our waitress Polly was incredible, very attentive and friendly. And the food was absolutely incredible as well. Gutted we are only visiting the area and can't return again soon.

Lunch took along time to be delivered to the table. Drinks were the same, a long time coming. One of the guests asked for no ice their drink , it came with ice. The food was very nice when it came.
