I reserved this place originally for tea, but unfortunately, I mistook the times for tea. So we were here for lunch. That said, most of what we had was delicious. The atmosphere and the service were great, as I'd say that was my favorite bits about it. But the food is a bit overpriced than what I'd care to pay. I'm sure some would find it worthy, but I'd say the food quality is worth 85% of what they're charging there.

We’ve just had a lovely evening here, celebrating a joint birthday. The food was very good, but not incredible. However, the atmosphere was superb, and the service was fantastic from the several members of staff we interacted with. Our main waitress was an absolute delight.

Unfortunately we expected better food and service for the price and atmosphere. Coming in to see art work and servers in suits made me believe we were in for a treat. I ordered an 8oz sirloin medium well and got it well done. When I flagged down the waiter and asked him for a refire he held up the plate in the light and examined it for a minute then set it back down and said he sees pink so it’s what I asked for. I laughed because I thought it was a joke and asked him where he sees pink and he just pointed at my well done steak and said in the middle. I gave it a low review because you come for the service, food and atmosphere but if the food isn’t what you ask for, and the service is completely unacceptable then the atmosphere seems overdone. He came back after I ate half my overcooked steak and asked if it’s okay and I told him it’s definitely well done but I’m already eating it. He said he can redo it but by then I was done dealing with his service. I took a picture because it was so confusing.

Service: Fast, attentive service. Waiters are switched on, observant and really know their job. Drink, food orders and other requests are immediately handled. Attentive and not pushy. They’re smartly turned out and polite. I’d even say, quite slick in their service. Food: Excellent menu, sophisticated and well blended layers of flavour, texture and presentation well executed with care any attention. Some dishes have an element of theatre in their presentation. Steaks are well cooked. Cuts are pretty good. Sirloin excellent. Rib eye on the bone not worth the extra (go with the sirloin) due to fat content. Taste is bang on par. Coffee and Stilton are also par excellence. Atmosphere: 1930’s art deco / almost dada colourful style. Good linen. Good silverware and crockery in keeping with the whole experience. Candle lit tables by evening and the lights lower by the hour. The atmosphere is relaxed yet somewhat formal. Easy to have a good time. Summary: class but not pretentious. Not Michelin star - but not as common and bland as your normal chain, even the nicer ones. Great food. Great complimentary service. Restrooms have the scent of amber. Service charge is steep - and automatically added to your bill. Recommended, for a treat as it is expensive for what you are getting (dinner). Particularly recommended if you like your food and wish to be treated extremely well in surroundings that deliver on what you’d say “is a seriously nice place”.

They said NOTHING when we share our concern. It was also my birthday. No apology, nothing. The worst Ivy experience ever. Terrible. Do not recommend.

I recently visited The Ivy in Cambridge with my family, hoping for a great dining experience, and while the service and atmosphere were impressive, the food left much to be desired. First, the positives: the service was excellent. Our waitress was not only professional and polite but also took the time to explain the menu in detail. The restaurant itself had a lovely, stylish atmosphere, and the bathroom facilities were also spotless, which was a nice touch. However, the food was a major disappointment. Despite being hungry, none of us could enjoy our meals, which I found concerning—when you're hungry, it's hard to not enjoy something. The dishes seemed like they had been frozen and reheated, lacking the freshness and flavor you'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber. My family members echoed similar sentiments. For me, food is the core of any dining experience, so unfortunately, the poor quality of the food really impacted my overall enjoyment. I’d rate The Ivy 2/5 stars—it’s a beautiful setting with great service, but when the food falls short, it’s hard to overlook.

Horrible experience. The restaurant completely messed up our steak orders: both served as “no blood,” even though I ordered medium and my friend ordered medium with no blood. When we politely raised the issue, the manager not only refused to acknowledge their mistake but also insisted we pay for the server’s fault. To make matters worse, he told my female friend to keep quiet and only allowed me to speak, which was deeply disrespectful. Despite having surveillance cameras, he refused to review the footage that would have shown our calm demeanor and their mistake. No apology, just blame on us and forced payment for their fault. Terrible service and unacceptable attitude. I’ll never come to this place again.

Was great when it first opened - not so much now. Went to lunch 29 Dec and one of the two starters was cold and same thing happened with the mains. The manager offered to ‘take off the service charge’. Very funny. You don't have to pay the service charge anyway. Won't be returning as the place has obviously prioritised profits over experience. I have never left a negative review before, but I must say this was the worst service experience I’ve ever had. The restaurant failed to resolve a very simple issue: they got steak’s doneness wrong, yet insisted on charging us for both steaks and claimed that we had ordered incorrectly. To be honest, I can totally understand if it was miscommunication, and we don’t even mind if we are told in advance that changing the steak would mean extras. However, we are pretty sure that we ordered with clear requirements, and the fault was not from our side: I ordered a medium with no blood and my friend ordered a normal medium, but we got two with no blood. When dealing with bills, the manager’s attitude was unacceptable. He told my female friend to “keep silence”, explicitly saying that only my male friend who met the specific situation could talk to him. He also said to us, “That’s it, pay the bill, I have other customers,” as if we weren’t customers deserving of proper responsibility and respect. In the follow-up communication, the team even shifted the blame onto us, saying our attitude was poor. If there were surveillance cameras in the restaurant, it would clearly show that we remained polite both when speaking with the server and while discussing the bill issue. Our voice was not higher than manager’s. We didn’t receive any apologies about this attitude, and they still believe they can treat customers like that. Paying money only to endure such treatment is truly disappointing, and I’ll be avoiding this place in the future.

I'm still reeling at the fact I've just paid £120 for two steaks, one cocktail and two soft drinks! Whilst I can say the steak was 'good' - both sirloins were tidy cuts, and cooked accurately to rare and medium on request, it simply can't justify the astronomical price! Combine it with the most mediocre and lacklustre service (got our starter order wrong, didn't know the drinks order so asked us to point in the menu and couldn't advise on ingredients of the sauce) I feel well and truly ripped off with this instagram-lovers paradise! Style over substance and charged for the privilege!

Visited with my family for Christmas Eve as the decor is beautiful and always a good atmosphere in other Ivys we have ate at. We fine dine often so happy to pay for good food however it’s more ‘pub grub’ Was left feeling disappointed. I chose to pay the subtotal without this optional service charge as I like to choose and decide on ‘tips’, I was immediately asked why I wasn’t paying this which I find uncomfortable and quite rude. The lady then went to the tills opposite and whispered to her colleagues in front of us whilst they turned to look at our table. The attitude then simply changed and we felt awkward. Never again would I wish to visit here.

The restaurant is stunning very clean with a great atmosphere. However the food is really not even average at best. The Ivy burger is literally an overdone burger patty in a bun with one piece of lettuce for £19. £30 for steak with no sides £5 for sauce and £7 for what are basically oven chips? The staff are friendly until you ask to remove the £18 optional service charge then they become very rude. The ivy is trying to be a fine dining restaurant with pub food.

We booked the Ivy for a birthday celebration afternoon tea. One of us had a gluten free afternoon tea which we pre-ordered so the restaurant was aware. The scones were good but the three other desserts (as shown in the photo) were a bowl of berries- 75% of these were still frozen and you therefore couldn't eat them , and what can only be described as a small bowl of natural yoghurt with coconut flakes on top and a brownie. The service was poor. We had to ask twice for sugar for tea. We requested some extra jam- this never arrived. No-one checked if we were okay or asked if we wanted more drinks. We decided to have a cocktails- it took a few minutes to attract the attention of a server, who asked us what we wanted so we asked to see a menu, which was brought, then she didn't return to take our order so we had to attract the attention of someone else! When they brought our cocktails we had to ask them to clear our empty dishes that has been sat around us for 15 minutes. Two of us had a left over cake which we asked to take home. This just came in the bottom of a large bag which they then charged us for! When we enquired why it wasn't in a box but rolling about in a bag the server told us they had not ordered enough boxes. Overall, the service just wasn't there which for a restaurant, that apparently is meant to be amazing, was disappointing.

We chose to celebrate our wedding anniversary at The Ivy and are very glad we did! We took advantage of the 2 courses for £20 deal, available on weekdays. The starters were the stars of the show: Salmon rillettes and the chicken skewers, both of which were excellent. For the mains we had duck leg and shepherds pie. The pie is quite small and appeared to contain burger meat, which was a disappointment. You definitely need sides. We had broccoli which was perfectly cooked. The Cote de Rhone wine was a bit harsh tasting and we would expect something easier going for the price. Allergen information is easily available via a qr code and in-restaurant WiFi. Service was great. Our server was polite and had a great sense of humour. He didn't have comprehensive knowledge of the menu but the manager was able to step in and help us with our selection (one of us is dairy intolerant). Meals did take slightly longer than we'd have liked to arrive so bear this in mind if you need to be somewhere afterwards! The ambience is very relaxed, the restaurant was full but wasn't noisy. The facilities are very clean but do involve a lot of stairs to get to. However there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. Overall, a great experience although slightly overpriced as portions are very small and wine is particularly expensive.

Visited the Ivy for a celebratory lunch with my son. We had to wait for our table to be ready, which was not a problem, and had a drink at the bar, we were then shown to our table. We ordered our food, 2 main courses, an Ivy burger and tuna loin. The waiter returned after we had placed our order to enquire how I would like the tuna cooked, I opted for pink. The food took a very long time to arrive at the table, we were waiting for more that 45 minutes. The food was only just warm, I suspect it was sat on the pass for sometime before being delivered to the table. The tuna which I expected to be pink inside was very well done, but tasty enough. Because it was a celebration I did not want to make any complaint regarding the food and the quite frankly disappointing level of service. I have always enjoyed visiting the Ivy because of the usually high level of service and attention to detail, this was sadly lacking on this occasion.

There was no price on the menu but our voucher was worth £150. Not a measly sum and a lot more than I would expect to pay for lunch. The crispy duck salad was lovely and well presented. The Peruvian chicken was tangy with heat but the chicken was quite thin. The sticky toffee pudding was nice with a nice dollop of clotted cream on top. Nicely presented. Add 2 glasses of average house white wine, a bottle of water, 2 coffees and the 12.5% gratuity and we still had to add more than £40 to cover the bill. None of the dishes blew me away and I have had better for less elsewhere. Next time I will try the £19.17 two course lunch.

Lovely brasserie, good food. After your tummy is full you can lose half the calories walking to the toilet and back 🤣 if you have been here, you know exactly what I am talking about.

The worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant for a long time. 1) had to ask 3 times for a wine list. 2) when wine was eventually ordered the main course came before the wine 3) one drink didn’t even arrive. When questioned after 15 minutes where it was the waitress said “it should come” 4) both the steak and the pasta starter had zero seasoning, bland. Dreadful experience, the food was absolutely dreadful apart from the scallop starter.

On a rainy Saturday lunchtime 7 of us arrived, without a reservation and asked about availability. The reception staff and door manager immediately made us feel very welcome and offered us a table. We were all impressed with the marvellous decor and surroundings. Once we were seated, server, Marvin (excellent by the way) offered us some water with the menus. We soon made our choices from the brunch menu and we were served with the food in about 10 minutes. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Upon discovering that 2 of our party had had birthdays within the past week, Marvin bought us a giant profiterole and candle for each celebrant. Very thoughtful and much appreciated. Along with the beautiful decor the ambience was very pleasant as well. Even the washrooms are Instagramable, especially the ladies apparently... A thoroughly delightful way to open our day exploring Cambridge. Many thanks to all who made the visit so enjoyable

I have been to Cambridge Ivy a number of times now and each time the food and service has been impeccable. Today however was even more special as I brought in my sister who is turning 12 this week. I mentioned this when booking and the staff brought out an extra something which made her feel special. A wonderful waiter also gave us some extra time when she asked how to fold the napkins 😅 thank you again, we will undoubtedly be back soon!

We order a bottle of sparkling water it didn’t get delivered to table until we reminded them. We later order a second bottle again it didn’t get delivered to the table but it did appear on the bill, it was removed when I pointed out the error, maybe I should of asked them to remove the service charge.

We had our lunch here after trying out Ivy in London, interiors were just amazing, beautifully done & I also loved the blazer/ uniform that staff was adorning, they can actually sell that as Ivy merchandise. We were made welcomed right from reception , since we had no prior bookings, it was a spontaneous decision to have lunch here but staff didn’t turn us down upfront despite being bysy (it was like a quick visit to our son at uni & we were kind of settling our emotions, since he started uni just a day before) We had ordered Truffle tagliolini, truffle arancini rice balls ( always love these), zucchini fritti ( least marks for this) and in vegetarian we didn’t have much choice so we ordered Rendang plant based curry with rice ( decent ) In desserts we had ordered celebration chocolate bomb ( one of my favourites in Ivy) , which they beautifully presented and it had very flavour of passion fruit too. Coffee was quite nice. Staff was very cordial, we were been served by Marvin I would recommend Ivy for ambience and service, in food they can introduce some more choice for vegetarian which doesn’t have fake meat.

Excellent food and service. I was full at the end of a 3 course meal. There is a lot of attention to details done. The only downside was the level of noise as it was really busy.

The place is nice, the food was ok, you’d expect a bit more from the Ivy, the chips i ordered were oily and not as you’d expect. The buffalo cheese was fair nothing to blow your mind. All in all it was an ok experience

Our brunch at The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the elegant and exquisite décor, as it was a perfect blend of modern chic and classic charm. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a relaxing brunch. The food was absolutely divine! Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and presented with such care. From the fresh, perfectly cooked eggs to the decadent pastries, every bite was a delight. The menu offered a wonderful variety, and the attention to detail in every dish was truly impressive. The ambience was equally exceptionally calm, refined, and full of understated luxury. Whether it was the natural light pouring in or the stylish touches throughout, the setting enhanced the entire experience. The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie is a place where impeccable taste meets impeccable service. I can’t recommend it highly enough for anyone looking to enjoy a beautiful meal in a stunning setting. We left feeling pampered, satisfied, and already planning our next visit!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Ivy Brasserie in Cambridge, and my experience was made truly exceptional by our waiter, Marvin. From the moment we were seated, Marvin's warm welcome and genuine enthusiasm set the tone for a wonderful evening. Marvin's knowledge of the menu was impressive; he effortlessly guided us through the various dishes, offering insightful recommendations and catering to our dietary needs. He was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our glasses were always full and anticipating our every need. Marvin is passionate for his work and to providing exceptional service were evident throughout our meal. He is a true asset to The Ivy Brasserie, and I wholeheartedly recommend it here.

I came from Brazil with great expectations to discover good restaurants in Cambridge. However, at The Ivy we received poor service at the beginning. We ordered the Steak tartare with toast, and they didn't bring any plates or cutlery. The food took more than 40 minutes, and it even came with raw chicken (truffle Chicken Milanese). They changed the chicken, but the other one was burnt and was still raw. The manager (very attentive) gave us a good discount, but the experience of poor service will be remembered.

Visited here with friends on Saturday evening. Ordered mains and starter, though the starters ere forgotten about, our mains were brought out and at that point had to remind where are the starters? Halloumi was feeling nice though and bread and salad brought out. We were rushed to finish our starter with plates taken away as soon as we each finished, and asked before one us finished are we ready now for msin course. Main came out I had the chicken beating asked for chips but hot rice, they brought out chips on asking. Again we were rushed to finish despite restaurant only being half full. They tried to take my friends plate although he hadn't finished it. The mixed grill he had was nice though with the description and price £20 would have expected more meat. Overall food was good, but so cheeky to add the service charge onto the bill. Especially given service was so poor. I would have contested it but my friend didn't want a scene. Shame really as if it was not for that would go back.
