Definitely be back, we were a little reluctant after seeing lots of negative reviews for service and value, all totally wrong!! Food, service and value for money all exceptional!! Ten stars to the lovely Millie who looked after us tonight 🤩 two courses of delicious food including a glass of Prosecco for under £25, absolute no brainer. The shepherds pie and mushroom and truffle linguine were absolutely delicious, wish I had the recipe to replicate them myself, followed by sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream, OMG, don’t hesitate to book

Called twice and they can’t even be bothered to answer the phone to answer questions. Same lies saying high call volumes and referring you to the website. Acting more like a utility company than a restaurant. If you can’t be bothered to talk to customers then you don’t get my money ! You failed before we even got started.

What a 1st time experience for my birthday in December 2024. My partner and son took me for my surprise birthday meal. OMG we loved every minute of it, from the entrance, watching the live singers to having drinks at the bar. The bar staff were so friendly . Then we were escorted to our seats, we were well cared for by staff (especially Ryan, so knowlegable an attentive. We had starters and mains and i was given a luxury desert for my birthday. The food was amazing and the room themed to the occasion. The food is so filling. Thank you so much for my birthday meal, i was telling everyone they need to visit the Ivy in Harrogate as its fabulous. I'll definitely be going back .👌

We visited for New year’s eve and sadly we had a terrible experience. We both ordered a fillet steak for main and both our steaks were the chewiest steaks we’ve ever eaten, it tasted like a terrible quality rump, nothing like a fillet, i saw a lady on a table nearby send back her steak for chewiness so it wasn’t just ours. My partner also ordered a medium steak and it was basically blue. After we mentioned this we were offered a free drink which i accepted but i told them i don’t drink alcohol, and they then gave me alcohol. Finally to top it off I was given the wrong dessert. I will say the staff were trying their best and i understand how busy new year’s eve is but given the prices charged this was not the experience we were expecting and won’t be going back.

Went for a special breakfast which unfortunately was not. It was a cold morning and we arrived at 09:15. There were 2 of us and we were seated at a small round table. We had coffee served in a pot which was only warm at best. I asked for sugar when the coffee arrived but had to ask again some 10 minutes later when none arrived. We ordered white toast and brown toast arrived so had to wait for white to turn up. The poached eggs were luke warm and certainly not straight out of hot water. My wife's vegetarian breakfast was also not hot. I also had a yoghurt dish which was superb but I can hardly describe it as cooking !. The table was cram packed with the items we ordered and the server struggled to find places to put things. A table nearby had the same problem and a glass was knocked off the table and smashed. It unfortunately made you feel hemmed in and not a pleasant dining experience. Just for info I hate the servers repeatedly saying "No worries" when I say thank you !

Very disappointing gluten free experience. Purposely chose the ivy as have ate here before and always enjoyed the food however now I’m gluten free it’s clear there’s been little thought gone into this with minimal choices to choose from and when a choice was available such as steak there wasn’t any gluten free chips to have with them so neither here nor there. Chose shepherds pie in the end and despite this being delicious I’ve eaten bigger mince pies so left very hungry and straight to Morrisons local for some top up snacks. Would be happy to topped this up with a side but little choice and nothing that complimented my dish. Staff and premesis were great as usual but have always viewed this establishment as a high end restaurant and assumed they’d be innovative in this area with there menus choices but certainly not the case. Hopefully this improves as not a choice for me and my family anymore.

I do recognize that we went on Boxing Day and who wants to work on Boxing Day? However, I still expected high standards from the Ivy, like I have experienced before. The starter was tasty, as was the dessert. I ordered the burger for my main and I expected a high quality burger, since that isn’t too hard to do. Sadly, it was meat and bun and fixings. Bacon wasn’t even properly crispy. Nothing special. The dessert was nice but I don’t remember so much whipped cream on the Chocolate Bomb, felt like a bit of a filler. The service was very slow and we spent 2 hours in the resteraunt in total. Had to keep grabbing someone to collect our plates. My family loves the Ivy, but next time I’m in Harrogate, I’ll pass.

Sadly, not all the food on the menu for my dish arrived. 3 parts were cold. One other guest on our table made a request to leave an element out, but the food arrived without the request realised. The serving staff didn't accept their mistake and blamed it on faulty equipment! After the meal we couldn't catch someone to arrange the bill, so whilst waiting at the POS area to request the bill, a number of staff were around the area, but not one enquired as to why I was there. The complaint raised with the manager gave someome adjustment to our bill. However the damage was done as it was a meal designed as a treat for one of our party that let her feeling low. We'd have gladly paid the full bill, including the service charge, as it was the special occasion we were reaching out for. Real shame, the ambience was lovely, but chatting to another table they had experienced much the same. Must try harder.

Just returned to our hotel after a meal at the Ivy. Can we recommend it, 100% we can. The service was second to none. The food cooked perfectly. Overall a nice experience which will remain with us for a long time. If you do nothing else, order a brandy and sit back and live the experience of the service. Thank you “The Ivy” we will be back. Food took a while to come and when it came it wasn’t what we had ordered. Another issue was that fake seaweed was put on a plate but we weren’t informed that it was fake so me and a few other people at my table ate the seaweed and were only told afterwards that it was artificial. Communication between the staff was poor although they were very kind and welcoming and apologised for their mistakes which was appreciated. Overall food was great and staff were lovely and the atmosphere was buzzing and lively.

Second visit to the ivy and sadly not a good experience, cheese souffle was hard, fish and chips were average at best. Spent out entire lunch squashed next to an empty champagne bucket with dirty glasses and an empty bottle. Asked for a glass of water for the table and were then charged £5 for a bottle only to be told when questioned that's just policy, if you have an issue you need to speak to our managers! Sadly a very unpleasant visit.

Myself and my wife visited The Ivy Harrogate yesterday, travelling from Sheffield. Lovely restaurant, atmosphere is ok. Seated on table for 2 in far corner of restaurant. No problem. Both ordered the same meal, starter: Prawn and lobster cocktail, and the roast beef Sunday lunch. Prawn and lobster cocktail was not good, chewy prawns, bits of shell, bits of what were supposed to be lobster, covered in skin, watery salad and a weak watery sauce. Poor! Main course, even worse, looked awful, anemic, quite obviously frozen roast potatoes, looked and tasted like they had been cooked in a deep fat fryer, frozen Yorkshire puddings, vegetables overdone with a few almonds chucked on top, great! On the whole we were extremely disappointed, and can honestly say this was the worst Sunday lunch we have ever had the misfortune to be served. When we voiced our discontent when asking for the bill, we were offered a free drink. No thank you. Won’t be visiting again.

30 minutes with no food order taken and watery drinks. We came to this restaurant at 2:30 hungry and without a booking, the staff kindly seated us and after 10 minutes or so took a drinks order. Our diet cokes when they arrived were watery and almost flavourless so when the waitress came to our food order we asked for replacements, some time later after we had been in the restaurant for 30 minutes or more watching food being delivered to all of the other tables, and unable to get the attention of any staff we decided to leave, still hungry without anyone having taken a food order. In the meantime the next table who were seated after us were served food and drinks. We went instead to a cafe round the corner.

This was my birthday present from my best friend who had saved up to treat us to a lovely meal. What a massive let down. Right from walking in, our hearts sank. Kids running round in hoodies. iPads and phones at other tables for the kids blaring out games and videos. Starters were Lobster and prawn cocktail. Scallops with seaweed. 17 and 18£. Lobster was overcooked and really chewy. Prawns were lovely. There was a cracker in the shape of a lobster tail which I think should have been crispy, but was like a Chinese prawn cracker that was left out for 4 days. Soggy. Chewy. Inedible. Scallops were really overcooked and again, chewy. The size of a 5p piece. The seaweed was ‘decorative’ so not even edible! No one came to check on starters. They were appalling. Ordered 2 gins, no ice. They came with more ice than gin. Mains were mixed. My friend had a fillet steak, which was fabulous. The peppercorn sauce was exactly the same as a Swartz packet mix, and came in a thimble. We had to ask for more sauce. Then had to put pepper on it. My ribeye was burnt and undercooked at the same time. Quite a feat. I chewed one bite for about 7 minutes then took it out of my mouth because it couldn’t be digested. 37£. Really? Sides of various greens were just ok. Have you ever been to Harvester before? Manager was rude and disinterested before we even had our food. He was worse afterwards. All in all The Ivy at Harrogate is overpriced and pretty piss poor.

Really disappointed tonight with our visit to the Ivy Harrogate. We visit Harrogate occasionally but have always included the Ivy as our go to restaurant. Always had fab food and service before, however there are too many negatives to mention on this post and will not ever darken the doors of this basically medium to high end fast food restaurant again. There are too many quality, privately owned eateries in this area to waste your money and time on an over priced, very average food experience.

On Saturday we got married at Harrogate Registry office ahead of our wedding in November and celebrated with a meal at The Ivy. We were a large party with lots of dietary requirements but everything was perfect from start to finish. Pre ordering with Emma was flawless and made the evening so much more relaxed. Our cocktails were amazing and delicacies, handmade by Konsta. Olaf made sure we had everything we needed all evening, making sure our wine was topped up always, that we felt special and celebrated in style. Milli and Erik were also fabulous and made sure that we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, thank you to everyone in the kitchen. We couldn’t have asked for more. Food was nice but left with a sour taste after the staff made us feel bad for not paying the service charge. Service was fine, no complaints but simply felt it didn’t warrant a tip. I would only tip if they had gone above and beyond expectation. Especially as the service charge was quite large! So we asked politely that it be taken off our bill (bit rude that it is presumed and added automatically but I understand that’s not the staff’s fault). This meant the manager came over and asked us why we wanted to remove it which was a little intimidating and added unnecessary pressure. We stood our ground and didn’t pay it but on our way out, I heard the manager grumbling about us as if we had done something wrong. Lovely place and good food but I don’t think customers should be pressured into tipping and made to feel bad when they don’t!

Wow! What an incredible night from start to finish our server was fantastic, if only I could remember his name (we were a table of 8 sitting on the oval table Wednesday night 16th) he made everyone feel at ease, lots of banter which we all enjoyed. The food was incredible we’d heard the shepherds pie was worth trying so 5 of us had that along with a French onion soup, gratinated cheese, croutons & parsley to start, both dishes were incredible as were the sides. My girlfriend had Pan-fried chicken, creamed spinach mashed potato, peas, broad beans, potato puffs, watercress and white wine velouté and the bomb and in her own words the meal was incredible!! everyone enjoyed the evening the wine flowed and we’ll definitely return when we revisit in February. Thank you to everyone at the Ivy for making our night special.

For what we paid, the food was poor. I don't complain, in an establishment like this you should be getting it right first time. The lobster linguine was honestly like a microwave meal, chewy lobster, sauce all sat in the bottom of the bowl and not really coating the pasta... Pretty sure it was reheated. The shepherds pie tasted nice but just didn't wow me at all for their "signature dish".... Pretty sure this was reheated food as well....£8 for 5 olives 😂 the bread was nice but a gave us a full loaf... The opposite scenario to the olives. Staff were mostly great, surroundings great, nice atmosphere but felt we were a bit too close to other guests so kind of ruined the intamacy. Overall could be amazing but the food just wasn't upto scratch for the money.

Lovely food! BUT Service very amateur for what is reputed to be the best restaurant in Harrogate. I do not normally complain but this birthday celebration venu was my suggestion. 2 30 Sunday afternoon and plenty of staff and a very quiet restaurant. No one at the door to greet us. Shown to our table and no one offered to take our wet coats until I asked the waitress who indicated a coat rack around a corner. I had been told the waitress would advise us on the gluten free dishes. Instead we were casually told to scan the QR code. That assumes that everyone has a phone capable of executing this process - infortunatlely my friiend did not, but luckily one of our party was able to do so as there was no alternative offered. We ordered drinks and food. No drinks arrived. 2 hot starters arrived followed eventually by the 2 cold starters. By which time the hot starters had cooled and it was obvious that our drinks had been forgotten. We had to remind the waiter who looked surprised and we received a half hearted apology. Main courses arrived - minus 2 of the side dishes! The waitress checked our order and came back with the wrong fries. Eventually the correct additional 2 side dishes arrived by which time we were well into our main courses. Deserts were nicely served, although the automatic service charge added to our bill seemed inappropriate. We halved it as the waitress was pleasant but perhaps not well trained. No sign of a senior member of staff. The food couldn't be faulted but the level of service highly disappointing for such a prestigious restaurant.

As usual, the Ivy lived up to its fantastic standard, here on our trip to Harrogate. A great setting at this location with a lovely bar and beautiful decor. This one has a garden terrace but as it was a little cold we decided to stay in the main restaurant and enjoy the lovely seating arrangement. Very romantic with corner seats and a great bar with fun staff working behind it. The only criticism is it was my birthday, and they did not do anything about this despite being an Ivy member as well, which was disappointing. Otherwise, everyone was great here, and the place had a lovely atmosphere.

Tried telephoning the Ivy Harrogate to speak about reservations. Greeted by a robot answering service that could not understand plain English. Eventually it said it would put me through to a reservation team. Was kept hanging on for 20 mins. I rang back a few times and had exactly the same problems time after time. Complete waste of my time. Long story short - I made a reservation elsewhere in Harrogate for 12 influential people at the drum and monkey , a much more up market establishment in my opinion. The hospitality industry is suffering badly at the moment and this ridiculous robot answering service simply doesn’t work and is not good enough. Also, how come nobody in a so called “reservation department “ could answer a phone call

I had the pleasure of visiting The Ivy for an evening of exquisite drinks and dining. Prior to our reservation, we enjoyed cocktails at the bar, which was truly exceptional. The bar staff were exceptionally talented and amiable, and the bar itself was impeccably tidy and glamorous. At our allotted time, the head of house graciously escorted us to our table without any prompting. Once seated, our wine was presented in a cooler, and the attentive staff ensured our glasses were never empty, prompting us to order a second bottle. The cuisine was phenomenal, served in a richly adorned, theatrical setting featuring live plants and sumptuous fabric furnishings. The fillet of beef was divine, and the shepherd's pie was extraordinary. For those seeking value, the two-course option for £20 offers an outstanding dining experience. The entire evening was simply outstanding. £250 well spent for a lifetime of cherished memories.

However at 8.55pm the waitress told us we had five minutes to leave our table. At no time when booking or when we arrived were we told that we had a two hour time slot. Had we known we would have accepted this especially at a busy time. To be told to leave especially after spending nearly two hundred pounds on food and drinks plus a hefty service charge is a bit naughty. Because of this I doubt we will be going back.

Visited with high expectations of here as we have dined here at York previously, however, when we arrived, the table we were seated at was rocky and impossible to sit at so we asked to be seated outside. The lady who took our drinks order was obviously new and visibly nervous, so we were patient, however our drinks did not arrive so we had to ask another waitress. Our sourdough bread arrived which was lovely, but salty enough to need a drink which had not arrived yet. Our mains (roast beef Sunday lunch) arrived in a good time span, however the beef was tough to cut and we didn’t expect it to be chargrilled. The vegetables were mediocre and the gravy we were given was minimal so we had to order extra to accommodate the dry potatoes. For the cost of £30 for a Sunday lunch we assumed it would be worth paying for but we were left disappointed by the food as well as the service. My boyfriend had mentioned it was our first year anniversary when asked if we were there for a special occasion but we were left feeling ignored throughout the time we were there. We spoke to the manager when we left who told us to sit at the bar. (who in fairness seemed very concerned and polite). We were then given two glasses of alcohol free champagne by a bar man however the manager didn’t reappear and was no where in sight. Overall this was a disappointing experience given that it was a special occasion. Considering avoiding this in the future.

Afternoon tea sandwiches outdated, lack of filling, salmon on the sandwiches seems like bought from Poundland.

As you would expect the IVY Harrogate carries the name well for the IVY chain. The service is good, food exceptional with a great variety of choice and quality end product. Would reccomend a visit if you're looking for a nice dinner on a special occassion.

We had dinner on a Monday evening and the Ivy was very busy. Service was excellent and the food was sublime. We were pleasantly surprised that the prices were not outrageous and the value of the entire experience was extremely good. Well worth a visit for your next big occasion.

What a lovely place to visit. The portions are generous (if you get the sourdough bread it will easily feed 2 to 3 people). The steaks were delicious, there was a slight issue with the cooking of the ribeye which was rectified straight away by staff. We were even given a free chocolate bombe dessert to celebrate our anniversary. The staff are super friendly and listen attentively. The slight downside for me was the lack of space, it felt quite cramped with a very small table and being sat right next to the entrance was very noisy. Customisations could be made to both food and drinks. This is a more pricey option but perfect for a special occasion.

The banana milkshake was so deliciously tasty 😋. Friendly staff and the atmosphere is great. Just like an American 50's diner 🙂

I can’t thank the whole team at Ivory for making hosting my Niece’s 21st any better. From the initial conversation about what we were trying to achieve, to being so accommodating to let us into the venue early to decorate, to the lending of scissors ✂️ and Helium of which I arrived with neither. 🙄 the offer of 2 drinks to my friend and I as we set it up (sorry I still owe you for them) they were simply amazing. Hosting something can be really stressful but here you just seem to be able to turn up and they just know what you need. Such a good night had by all, I received a phone call to let me know 3 mobiles had been left which I collected and returned to all the guests who clearly had too much fun! 🙄 Thank you all for making a very special night perfect. Highly recommend to anybody wanting to host an occasion, you are in good hands x
