Best NYE venue in London. My partner and I took our adults kids here for the NYE party and it did not disappoint. The host 'S' at the door was just wonderful and really looked after us all night. Made us feel so welcome and special. The cocktails were fantastic and the dancers and entertainment were truly amazing. The staff are so attentive and friendly. We really did have the best night.

Our experience at The Ivy was a bit underwhelming. On our first visit, the gentleman at the door tried to seat us by the bar, which we didn’t want. We later checked online and found that same-day reservations were available in just 45 minutes. This could have been communicated better, as it felt like a missed opportunity. Perhaps more training for staff during busy periods would help improve the guest experience. We decided to return the next day to give the food a try. We ordered the burger and fish & chips. While the fries were excellent—crispy and flavorful—the rest of the meal fell short. The burger was overcooked, with the meat so tough it was difficult to bite into. The fish and chips were decent but not memorable. Given The Ivy’s reputation, I had higher expectations for both service and food quality. Hopefully, they address these issues to deliver the elevated experience diners anticipate.

A quite disappointing experience at this place. I ordered a vegetarian full breakfast and asked for gluten free bread. When the plate arrived, not only the bread was missing but roasted potatoes that were supposed to be on the plate, were missing, too. When I asked what happened to them, the waiter answered that he “assumed” that since I’ve asked for gluten free bread, I couldn’t eat potatoes either. He hadn’t checked with me, he just assumed. Then I had to wait another 10 minutes for the gluten free bread to arrive as he had obviously forgotten to order it. So I ended up eating my breakfast which was already cold but also not very good as the whites in the poached eggs were not really cooked through…. The only positive thing I can say is that they agreed to offer me a discount (they didn’t offer by themselves, I had to ask to compensate the missing potatoes) I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place as service is poor and so is the food.

I hired the private room at The Ivy Soho Brasserie for a school reunion - 40 years since we left school. It is a lovely room and was ideal for our standing lunch-time reception on a Saturday in November. Kayleigh did an amazing job managing the event on the day - nothing was too much trouble. The canapes and bowl food were delicious and much appreciated by all. We took advantage of the screen and audio facilities in the room and it was ideal to have a private bar and cloakroom. We will definitely bear The Ivy Soho Brasserie in mind for for future events. Thank you!

I recently dined at The Ivy Soho and had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner at the bar. Unfortunately, as much as I loved my meal, I will say that they seemed significantly understaffed that night, which led to backups with service and a few disgruntled guests. My service at the bar was good, and I was served my food quickly. I ordered a few starters; the olives were honestly a joke. For 5 pounds I was given quite literally 5 olives, and they were average. I was a bit insulted from there but hoped the meal would get better, and it did. The roasted Scallops and Buffalo Mozzarella were both fantastic, and the presentation was excellent. Finally, for the main, I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare, with a red wine sauce. Sides included mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Overall, this was one of the best steaks I've had in London, and the mashed potatoes were smooth and loaded with butter. The creamed spinach was a miss for me, as it just wasn't what I was looking for. Accompanied with an Italian red wine, the meal overall was a success for me on a night when it's so easy to be completed ripped off. The price was steeper than I would've liked, and included a service charge. When I brought up the olive issue to my bartender, he admitted he was embarrassed to serve them, but still did not say so when I ordered them, nor did he offer to remove them off the bill.

A Disappointing Christmas Eve at The Ivy SoHo As my first London dining experience which happened to be on Christmas Eve, I had high hopes for The Ivy SoHo. Unfortunately, it failed to deliver on the chic and luxurious reputation it projects, leaving me deeply disappointed. The Ivy Martini I ordered was overly citrus-heavy, with none of the balance or complexity I anticipated of the seemingly savory cocktail. For my second drink, I opted for a classic dry martini with bleu cheese olives. Not only did they fail to mention beforehand that bleu cheese olives were unavailable, but the olives they provided were of shockingly poor quality, falling far short of the elevated experience one might expect. Despite my clear direction on how to make the martini, it seemed the staff was incapable. It is a gin drink, which I hear is very popular in London. Service was disorganized and frustrating throughout. Our waitress repeatedly returned to take our order but still managed to forget our appetizers and bread entirely. It was as if this was a mexican restaurant back in Indiana simply trying to turn the table. The appetizers were only brought out after the main courses had already been served and sent back. To make matters worse, after the meal concluded, it took an unreasonably long time for staff to acknowledge we were ready to settle the bill, leaving us waiting unnecessarily. The food was equally disappointing. The haddock and salmon fishcake was too fishy and paired with an uninspired pea paste sauce. The sirloin was over-salted to the point of being nearly inedible, while the chicken suffered from rubbery, unappetizing skin. Despite the restaurant’s polished décor and attempt to convey a sense of luxury, the quality of the service and food was mediocre at best. The Ivy SoHo aspires to sophistication but failed to deliver anything close to a refined or memorable dining experience. What should have been a special Christmas Eve dinner turned into a frustrating and lackluster evening. I cannot recommend The Ivy SoHo and certainly won’t be returning.

We had the most wonderful experience at The Ivy Soho Brasserie last night. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, but the real star of the evening was Jordan, who looked after us so brilliantly. His positive energy, genuine happiness, and clear passion for his role were infectious — it was obvious that not only we but everyone around appreciated him too! The food was absolutely fantastic. The truffle fries and pigs in blankets were pure joy — I was genuinely overwhelmed with happiness eating them! The chicken supreme was cooked to perfection, and the chocolate bomb dessert was the perfect indulgent finale. Everything about the evening was faultless, and we can’t wait to return. Huge thanks to Jordan and the entire team for accepting my gift voucher and making it so memorable - we sincerely hope Jordan receives recognition.

My biggest disappointment in this place was the service. I’ve never before been asked to leave a restaurant because the next party was waiting on our table, while we were in the middle of dessert and sharing an espresso martini. Not only did the manager who came over never offer us a seat at the bar while we finished our dessert and drinks, he had the decency to put a service charge on the bill. I’d never recommend this place to anyone. Extremely disappointed.

TLDR… A grating and unenjoyable experience unless you’re on a stag or hen do. This is in no way comparable to The Ivy. I doubt we’ll be going back. I note the way the reviews seem to work here… complain about the food or service, a reply appears asking to chat about it. Complain about the DJ… nothing. I have hearing loss in one ear and asked for a slightly quieter table. We were met with the same irritation, muttering and tutting others have mentioned. While I’m not going to play the inclusion card, the lack of any willingness to make a guest’s evening as good as it can be, is as telling and it is disappointing. Our good friends booked the table on a Saturday evening (hence the Ivy reply below). Having had the pleasure of dining at the original Ivy a few times, the Brasserie felt like TGI Fridays during happy hour. Tacky, unsophisticated and in no way relaxing. The 5 minutes we spent standing in the draughty entrance should have been a warning sign that this was not going to be the Ivy experience we were expecting. There was even a DJ in a booth pumping out music so loud it was hard to have a conversation. I like Detroit house and Groove is in the heart by Deee-Lite as much as the next person, but it made conversation almost impossible. I’m sure the DJ was chuffed to have “Resident DJ, The Ivy” on their LinkedIn profile but this evening was about catching up with friends. The two were at odds. The food was nice enough. The staff perfectly capable and pleasant. The toilets smelt nice. The basics we’re there. The drinks did take a good 20 mins to arrive however. The utter chaos and noise being pumped through the speakers meant every table was shouting, meaning all nuances during interactions with staff were frustratingly basic and accompanied by crude sign language to be understood. This would probably explain why our olives never arrived. The Veuve Clicquot champagne we ordered didn’t taste like Veuve Clicquot. Not saying it wasn’t, just in our opinion, it was noteworthy. A little later, we ordered another only this time asking to see it poured from the bottle to make sure. No. This was not an option it seems. If we’d have been concerned about drinks being tampered with (as has happened to our friends recently), would this lack of accommodation still be acceptable? Again, was this lost in translation due to the noise? Who knows. One minor point is that the menu is printed in a shade of green, in tiny text size and the lighting (at least where we were) required subtle use of your phone screen to make sense of it. A quick glance around the room suggested it wasn’t just us (picture the briefcase scene from Pulp Fiction and you’re not far off). I don’t need glasses but if you do, bring them. It seems the brief was “The Ivy for Teenagers” rather than “A less formal, more relaxing Ivy”. Sitting outside in the cold was actually the better option (as you just had the traffic and passing crowds, rather than the music). May be worth asking for when you book. Similarly, I assume the DJ is just an evening or Saturday thing and that a lunch or breakfast here isn’t as chaotic. And finally, a phrase I hear a few times in the comments, I doubt we’ll be going back.

I recently dined at IVE Brasserie and was left very disappointed. It took an unacceptable amount of time—over 20 minutes—just for our first drink orders to be taken, when eventually delivered they were not what we ordered. Further drinks ordered for the main course were served alongside our desserts despite chasing for them during g the man course. The dessert, the crème brûlée was bland and tasteless. All this and it was far from busy…. To top it off, the entire establishment looked like it needed a good clean, detracting further from the dining experience, and certainly not a £100 a head one. I expected much more from a place in Soho and sadly won’t be returning.

Went for Sunday lunch a fortnight before Christmas - understandably, the place was extremely busy. Even accounting for that, though, it was a disappointing experience overall. The host was polite but not terribly welcoming - perhaps they were just a bit worn by the relentless crowd. Our waiter tried hard, but he forgot some items of our order (I appreciated he tried to display a high level of service in not writing anything down, but we were let down when he needed reminding of several items), and also forgot some basic items - taking away cutlery that was needed, not bringing milk/cream with tea, forgetting other items. Given how busy he was, we just felt a bit bad for him as I imagine he wanted to do his job well but could not on this occasion. He was also let down by the kitchen who made a mistake on the order, which resulted in one in our party not being served their meal till 20 minutes after everyone else's meals were served. Since it was near the festive season, we tolerated the deafening din of the very busy dining room - it might be best to visit at a less busy time. The art-decor inspired furnishings were really lovely and even the floor tiles were gorgeous - a luxe experience was clearly what they aimed for and were able to deliver visually. There was a singer whose set was amplified uncomfortably loudly - again no doubt because of the loud room; unfortunately, this just meant everybody was yelling to be heard over the singer's best efforts, so a lose-lose for everyone. Might be better not to have a 'live' act when there is already so much going on, though I appreciate that the restaurant was trying to offer an extra touch of hospitality. When it came to the food, it was a mixed bag. The Eggs Benedict had perfectly poached eggs paired with smoked ham (a tad salty, but to be expected and not a complaint, just an FYI) and the most divine chipped potatoes that were perfectly cooked and seasoned - very more-ish. The Arancini on offer was also a standout item we enjoyed very much; ditto the Zucchini Fritti. Scones were good but unremarkable - we had had it previously and thought they were better in the past; perhaps an uneven batch. The Sunday Roast, unfortunately, was indefensibly awful - meat was a bad cut that was poorly cooked; accompanying vegetables were completely tasteless; even the roast potatoes were a letdown - so this was very dire indeed and hugely confusing since it was Sunday! Overall, it's worth visiting this establishment on a less frantic day, we reckon, when you can enjoy the lovely ambiance and when the food and service are hopefully better (without the insane pressure of a holiday season crowd).

RIDICULOUS, Far better to remove them from your menu than serve such teeny mean little THINGS. Very very SAD end to a meal. What should have been an enjoyable work Christmas meal at The Ivy Brasserie turned into a deeply disappointing experience. We had booked a table for seven, but were seated at one that only fit six. When we asked to move, we were told there was no availability, despite a nearby table for eight being empty. Later, we saw only six people seated there — it felt like we were being brushed off. We ordered a bottle of bubbles when they served our starters, starters were cleared and mains served and still no bottle. We asked a number of waiters and the bottle eventually turned up after mains were cleared away - bit too late and sat through a meal with no drink due to such poor service. Throughout the meal, not a single staff member checked if we were happy with our food or needed anything. It felt like we were invisible, with no attention given to our table. Our water glasses had a strange smell, and despite asking multiple times for replacements, it took far too long to get fresh ones. Again it was a case of flagging a waiter down to just be ignored anyway. What made it worse was watching the table next to us receive constant attention. Their glasses were regularly refilled, and the waitstaff seemed to check in with them constantly. We, on the other hand, were ignored. It felt unfair, and left us wondering if there was something deeper at play. After such poor service, we decided not to stay for dessert which was disappointing as everyone was looking forward to it. When we eventually spoke to the manager, we were met with an apology, but by then, it was too little, too late. The damage had already been done and it left the entire party completely disappointed with the Ivy chain and I've personally been to the Cambridge Ivy and never had a bad experience and equally Ivy Asia which has always been great. Sadly, we couldn’t shake the feeling of being treated differently. The service disparity between our table and others felt more than just poor management — it very clearly felt like racial discrimination (50% of our table were Indian). This was meant to be an enjoyable work celebration, unfortunately resulted in disappointment and a huge sense of discrimination. In short - if your of a white background, you'll probably have a great experience, but don't waste your time or money if you're of any other racial background. Ironic seeing as the majority of staff were not white themselves. Clearly they are trying to maintain a certain customer profile. It's a shame as the company paying for our meal are big on tips in restaurants so its unfortunate the staff profiled us so quickly. Won't be returning.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Appalling service and discriminatory treatment. We visited The Ivy Soho for our Christmas works dinner, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the service was awful. We were seated at a table far too small for our group of seven, so we asked the waiter if we could move to the next table, which was slightly bigger. He told us it was reserved for a party of eight, which seemed fine—until a family of six turned up and was seated there instead. It was clear we were lied to. Things didn’t get better. The water glasses smelled strongly of dishwasher chemicals, so we asked for replacements, and it took forever to get them. We ordered a bottle of wine, but it took over 45 minutes to arrive (we had finished our mains at this point) When it finally came, the young waitress gave me a dirty look when I mentioned how long we’d been waiting. She then struggled to open the bottle and disappeared multiple times trying to sort it out. Eventually, we went up to her and told her not to bother anymore because we were so fed up. What made the experience worse was the clear bias in how we were treated compared to others. It didn’t go unnoticed that we were one of the few groups that included a few Indians, and the difference in service between our table and the others was glaring. For example, the white family next to us received constant attention. Once one waiter left their table, another waitress immediately came to check their glasses, refill their drinks, and ensure they were happy. Meanwhile, our table was ignored the entire night. The contrast was blatant and left us feeling very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Unless you’re white, avoid this place at all costs. It’s ironic considering many of the staff seemed to be foreign themselves, but the treatment we received was nothing short of discriminatory. We had booked the festive 3 course meal but by the end of our mains, we didn’t even want to stay for dessert. We just wanted to leave. No one thanked us for coming or acknowledged us on our way out. The service was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. The Ivy Soho markets itself as a high-end venue, but our experience couldn’t have been further from that. Management should be ashamed of the way this restaurant operates.

So first of all we had a group of 11 people booked I'm for 6 and we had to wait for 35 minutes before we could be seated so all of us had to find somewhere to wait which was very annoying. Second, they say it says it's a nice place to eat, but to be honest, with the terrible techno stuff they were playing people could mistake it for a night club and not a nice dining experience. Third is the food, we had to order from the festive menu not the al a carte menu which i wanted to do as my choice of food was on there and I could have saved myself £20 as the set menu is either £55 for 2 courses and £60 for 3. It wasn't bad but nothing to write home about had a better meal in a pub before. Also, for some reason, every time I ordered a drink, it took like 15 minutes to arrive. I have to say though, the lady waiting us was phenomenal and a really lovely person she was the only one really helping us out, so thanks to you and the only reason a 3 star.

Rather disappointing Sunday lunch. We were a table of 6, pre booked for 2.15pm Our spend per person includes wine and cocktails. The most disappointing discovery for us was the standard of the Sunday lunch… presented well and at a competitive price of £23.95… it failed to impress. The ‘half roast chicken’ was in fact 2 flattened chicken portions, which were a rather an ‘un-bird’ looking offering. Roast potatoes were frozen and had been prepared in Gordon’s favourite kitchen appliance - the fryer!!! Brussels sprouts… also frozen. Yorkshire puddings… quite possibly from frozen batter… These basics are essential to a good roast! Starters and desserts were lovely. Soho Ivy, you failed to deliver on this occasion - and we ate early, so you can’t use the end of the day excuse on this one!! Service from our waitress Leila was spot on but her coworkers were distracted, self obsessed and unprofessional at times. We had many opportunities to witness what was deemed, by staff, to be a little bit of messing around out of the gaze of the customers… in full view of the customers… total lack of self awareness and any degree of respect - one has to wonder what conditions/role modelling/leadership creates such a culture? We had to send items back when we witnessed them being badly prepared and unnecessarily handled prior to being brought to the table. Goodness only knows what goes on out of the view of the public! A really lovely part of our experience were the live entertainment - lovely addition to what was a really buzzing atmosphere. A recognised brand, a good reputation… but undeserved based on this experience.

I went to the restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately the service we received was absolutely terrible. We arrived at the Ivy before 12 noon and the restaurant wasn’t full or very busy. After being seated we waited for ages for a member of staff to approach us and take our orders. We then waited for another extraordinary length of time for our food to arrive lukewarm. I noticed that the person bringing the dishes to the table was holding them in a tilted position towards the floor, with little or no concern about how they appeared on arrival to our table. Nobody came to ask how our food was and I had to summon someone to order deserts and hot drinks. The sugar arrived at our table about 20 minutes before the rest of the lukewarm order. My friend left her coffee as it was too cold to drink. My friend went on to pay the service charge which was included as she felt embarrassed not to and it was my birthday. This was the worst meal that I have had on my birthday. The service was terrible and we were not treated the same as other paying customers.

generally really i like the Ivy. every time i across London. Visited the Ivy victoria branch it's super , but tonight i visit the soho branch and was disappointed. The atmosphere is 5 star. However tonight's service was lackluster. Worse, the food was below standard , to be honest the supervisor was so friendly and kind also he do discount for as because the food not good , and one more thing one of the staff the white man was so rude and he ignored me many times idk why he must have more courses and knowledge about kindness and customer service!

The worst dinning experience I have ever had so far in London!!! My friends came to visit me from New York. I guess Ivy was kind of to go British resturant for an occation like this. However, the whole dinning experience was embarrasing for me and terriable for my friends. I would never visit Ivy again. I booked the table for 6:15pm. The table was not ready at all after I arrived. I was asked to wait in the bar table until nearly 6:35pm. During this time, nobody really came to tell me anything about the table until I asked and I asked for 3 times "when can i get my table ready please?".....Everytime, the waitor just dissapperred with "I will check it for you" and never came back with any updates! Until the third time, I look very unhappy and the last waitass left and came back with a table ready for us....... Due to this unhappy waiting time, I forgot to take my handbag while moving from bar table to our dinning table (I only managed to find out while trying to pay at the end, which scared me as my keys and cars are in the bag). The whole ordering process is another sloooowest thing......Have to ask the waitro 3-4 times until he really came and take the order for dinner. The amazing thing is, everyone seems sooo busy in the restaurant but it just does not provide any efficient service. Food was just okey, nothing wrong but nothing amazing. In terms of service, no exaggeration, i have experienced 3 times of breaking glass around my dinning area from the waitors.....3 times glass breaking, can you image that, and one time was just beside me ?! What kind of dinning atmosphere withi all these?! After the whole terrible experience, my friend was not feeling well, due to his own health reason and has nothing to do with Ivy to be clear first. I paid the bill and ask him to wait for me while I went to Boots to get him some medicine. After around 15-20 mintues, I came back and saw him just sitting there looking sufferring and very unwell all by himself?! He does not have any high request and was happy not to be kicked out by the restuarant. But I was not only angy but also very disappointed by Ivy that why nobody came and checked with him during all these time? Even a cup of tea or just hot water would be able to help? We, at least I left with anger, unhappiness, and disappointment after all these. I would never came to Ivy any more.

If you come here, only hope to have Anais as your server. What an incredibly generous woman. Based on the caliber of the restaurant I would assume everyone is held to as high standards as Anais, but genuinely one of the best service experiences I have had. Best dining experience during my weeks in London. Thank you Ivy.

We typically love coming here, tends to be 5 star service and food for very reasonable prices. This time though, the service was awful. Took them 20 minutes to take our food order, in which time the drinks were left on the bar (we could see them sat there!). My Christmas cocktail was awful, 50% whipped cream and they apparently had run out of the garnishes. We went up to complain & they happened to miraculously find the garnishes. I ordered the duck rendang. It tasted like a microwave meal you’d get from M&S. pleasant but not worth £25. I hope this was just a blip as we love it there normally

Nice food, poor service. Upon arrival we were told that there would be a short wait at the bar as our table was not ready yet, this would have been fine had the wait not been 20 minutes during which time nobody asked if we would like a drink and the staff were generally too busy to notice that you wanted to order one. Once sat down we felt rushed the whole meal as if they needed the table back shortly and our food came within 5 minutes of ordering it. The only part of our evening which didn’t feel rushed was when we wanted to pay the bill which we were left waiting about 20 minutes for after asking to pay it. It was a shame as our food was great and I have visited other Ivy locations which have been faultless.

Birthday treat, and it was. Arrived at 1pm and was greeted and seated promptly. Ordered Bloody Mary's to begin and then Steak tartare and truffle tagliolini to start, chicken Milanese for main and blackened cod for my husband, frozen berries for my dessert and mandarin and white chocolate for his dessert. Fernando the server was a very attentive host, charming helpful and always on hand to assist, sweetly he also brought out the Chocolate bombe with a birthday card which was very kind despite us being so very well fed already. Delicious food great ambience (the live singer was a great touch) and the service as ever excellent. Can't wait for my next visit. One criticism the breadcrumbs on the Milanese were very oily, could have used a moment or two longer to drain that's all though...

Beautiful restaurant, getting ready for all things Christmas. For me these chain of restaurants are overpriced. The food is overflavoured. Good portion sizes, just too expensive. £10.50 for a quatre filled flute of Prosecco, ridiculous! Even the alcohol free drinks are extortionate. For such a 'fancy' place they need to at least put a bin for hand drying tissues to be disposed of in the ladies bathroom. Used tissues are just left along the bathroom mirror shelf. Brings down the level of 'class' they try to give off here. First time trying an Ivy and my last time.

So I generally really like the Ivy. Been to several across London. Visited the Ivy Soho tonight and was disappointed. The atmosphere and location is 5 star. However tonight's service was lackluster. Worse, the food was below standard. It was well presented and creative, but the flavours just did not go together. The sauce overwhelmed the cod. The profiterole was stodgy. The mash was gooey. I asked for the truffle pasta but was told no, as it was only allowed if you ordered the Xmas set menu. Would have happily paid the normal price for a main! The vegetarian options were limited.

Very excited for our meal we arrived on time to be miserably greeted by the front desk staff, we were asked to wait (around 10 minutes) in a small lobby area were we were hit several times by the big door, the front desk staff didn't bat an eyelid. We then sat down to a very average meal. I had the salt and Peper squid which was over cooked and didn't have much flavour apart from the wasabi mayo it comes with. I then had the lobster linguine which I again was so excited for as I love lobster and have it all the time.. the lobster unfortunately was overcooked and rubbery, the sauce wasn't even seasoned well. It was very easy to eat, plain food at its best. I finished with the curry nougat which was just so overpowering with curry kursh I couldn't handle more then 3 mouthfuls, it would of been delicious otherwise. The meal overall was overpriced and bland but the service charge was well earned as the waiting staff were exceptional and made the meal. Thank you.

World class music. World class snobbery. We attended one of the late Sunday morning performances, which are perfectly timed for the weekend visitor. The music was absolutely exceptional. We enjoyed a flawless, virtuosic, performance in a venue with great acoustics. However, the atmosphere was intimidating and represented everything that's bad about the British establishment. Not exactly the fault of the venue, but most of the other audience members fell firmly into the pale and stale category and were unwelcoming at best, and downright rude at worst. Thankfully, the music (did I mention how good the music was?), just about compensated.

Lovely and similar to every other Nando's. It was however quite busy on a random afternoon (when it had indicated that this was not busy)which made me wonder what it would look like at a busy time. Meant waiting a while for the food which was good as usual.

Not me in the pic but a friend. Great old school back street pub with a decent selection of craft beer and ciders. Defo good to pop into and have a few. Had to get the right angle as well just to make him look like a plonker.
